Would not go back here. All the kitchen cupboards were locked off, with no cutlery or bowl/plates provided. No way to eat any food (breakfast/dinner) in the room. Was told no cooking was allowed - which is a strange restriction when you are paying to use the whole facility. Air con super small and loud. Wifi cut in and out and tv was fuzzy.

Older motel but VERY well maintained. Pride of ownership shows thru! The setting was quaint, although adjacent a very busy Hwy1, so light sleepers may not have a great sleep. The A/C needs re-charge (our A/C unit only kept the room live-able when 32+ degrees outside), but we enjoyed our sleep thru the night (a/c was good white noise) as beds were comfortable with heavy comforters. We'ld stay again! Canoe is a nice little community on water's edge.

This is the cleanest motel I have EVER stayed in! The bed was comfy, the room had a little fridge and it was very convenient to stay a quick overnight. Would stay here again.

Surprisingly good little motel halfway between Calgary and Vancouver. Only about 10 km east of Salmon Arm. Recent renovations we saw include new flooring, cupboards, bathroom and of course paint. Beds were comfortable, and AC was working.
A coffee machine and coffee pods were great before leaving as there is no onsite food service. The microwave was good for reheating some light snacks we had stored in the fridge. But the ovens were removed in the recent renovations and if you do actual cooking you will lose your room deposit.
The motel is across the highway from the town of Canoe where you can get some quick foods and snacks. Also next to the snack store is the local bar where we picked up a meal, so there is no need to go back to Salmon Arm. Great food but can get noisy-- it's a pub.
The wi-fi is so good you can sit in the park area in front of the hotel and still access your room wi-fi. There are picnic tables and lounge chairs and they were great for relaxing outdoors late at night. We did not watch much TV but it works although for some reason it did not seem like HD quality.
I would like to see some handrails in the tub/shower area. It is difficult for older people to step over the high tub side to take a shower without something to hang on to. Best not to grab the toilet paper roll for support.
Also an instruction sheet for the AC would be good. In our room I needed to stand on a bed to adjust and that is a big task for wobbly seniors.

So glad to have found this place! I stayed here for a one night stop on a longer road trip and it was perfect. It looks a little dated and perhaps a tad rundown from the outside, but the inside is recently updated, clean, and well kept. The staff were really lovely and helpful. Really enjoyed my time here and would definitely recommend it!

I decided to book at the Happy Salmon because of all the previous reviews indicating the rooms being very clean and they were absolutely right. The rooms are very basic but very clean. The bed was very comfortable. The room had a coffee maker, a fridge and a microwave. The bathroom was also very clean. The only negative is that my room had a strange smell in it. Not a gross or musty smell by any means but a different type of odour when I first walked in. After being in the room for a few minutes, I didn't smell it after that.

Room was clean and well stocked. Check in and out was super quick. The room was surprisingly quiet considering the motel is on the highway. Only issues were the heat in the room being very high and unable to be changed in the room, as well as very little hot water one morning and no hot water the following morning. Not sure if there were issues with their system or what as I was in a rush to leave and couldn’t worry to much about it.

Shower diverter did not work as it sprayed medium from the shower head and still gushed from the tap. I was in room 101 which has two large bedrooms. One had an IKEA sling back chair which was only for a smaller person. The room with the tv had no chair at all. No place to really watch tv. Very convenient and a place I would strongly recommend with some minor tweaking.

Booked this room based on pictures and reviews. The room smelled musty and moldy. Opened the window to hopefully bring in fresh air. All you could hear was highway traffic. Closed the window and turned on the air conditioner only to find out it was worse than the highway noise. The bed was totally uncomfortable. And…. The door has a window where the light totally shines in. Ended up hanging the bathroom towels over the door to darken the room. Oh… did I forget to tell you we had no internet. Highly disappointing.

Best little motel in Salmon Arm. Been there since before humans walked upright, but completely renovated in a tasteful way. Great bathroom, and also had a little kitchen with a full size frig which is very nice. Spotless clean. Everything worked.

This is an old motel that has remodeled rooms, economical and clean. Just right for a single night of rest. It's family owned and it's obvious they have tried to think of the little rings to make it comfy. No luxury just just a basic room. I love that it has wood floors. It feels cleaner than carpet.

This is a charming little motel just off the hwy. I had a room in the back, so it was really quiet and I did not hear any highway noise. It is all redone in the insides of the suite and very very clean. Don't let the outside discourage you. Owner was really nice. I will definitely stay at this motel again in the future.

This is a side of the road motel, which is fine if that is what you are looking for. It was clean and the rooms were big. However you can’t open the windows and the air conditioning is so so noisy so it feels really overbearing to sleep there.

For an older motel and having stayed in many that were very disappointing, the Happy Salmon Motel was a breath of fresh air… from the lovely woman who greeted us at check-in to entering our very clean bedroom, bathroom and kitchen area. We were exhausted from a long day of traveling so we were really pleased that the bed was very comfortable and we had a great sleep. Even though the motel is situated close to the highway, we were not disturbed by any traffic noise or any other noise. The shower was great as was the coffee that was provided. Thank you Happy Salmon owners and staff for a very pleasant and restful stay. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This is clearly an older building, but it was charming, extremely clean and well cared for with obvious updates and care taken to make guests feel welcomed.Our room #102 was very large ( two rooms plus bathroom). We had a kitchen table, full fridge ( which we really appreciated being able to re-freeze our ice packs for our cooler). Our daughter had lots of room to play in our room. We had just stayed at a very expensive hotel in Kamloops, and preferred The Happy Salmon over that hotel! The front desk clerk was very sweet, offered us additional towels and the cleaning staff was cheerful. We were very impressed, especially considering the price. We would definitely stay here again.
