Room was clean but had a faint smell. Large air purifier and dehumidifier running loudly as we entered the room. The elevator has a weird carpet that catches on suitcases and makes it easy to trip. Guest floors are accessible to the public and rooms are locked via a keypad rather than keycard which makes it feel unsecured. Breakfast was average. Staff are nice but not strong English. 15 minute walk from station, no footpaths.

The room was very clean and super spacious which is hard to find in japan! I would definitely recommend booking a room with Mt Fuji view as waking up to the view each morning was priceless! They have a free shuttle to the station in the morning too which is convenient. It’s walkable to local recommended restaurants but is quite dark so for 600¥ Ubers are also an option! You can even hire bikes during the day from the hotel. I would recommend this place to others and stay again if I return to the area. Thanks

The room was big even for 3 guests. We love the tatami section in the room. Staff were polite and helpful with the check-in as well as answering some questions about transportation from the hotel to the train station.

Some areas of improvement. Add 1 or 2 more vans for transporting the guests between the hotel and train station. Allow the guests to set the air conditioning unit to be able to cool the room (we were told that the unit has been set to only blow warm air given that it was late autumn).

The hotel is located 15 minutes walking from the station and close by a grocery store and food options.

The location is prime to see Mount Fuji as long as the clouds don’t obscure the mountain! There is a roof top terrace for viewing.

The room was spacious and they do provide new towels daily. The bathroom is the standard Japanese style. There is breakfast available too that is Japanese style.

Overall, would recommend to anyone staying in the Mount Fuji area to stay here.

Exceptional view to Mt Fuji from the roof terrace and from some bedrooms. Very helpful and polite staff. The breakfast is not great but is ok. Surprisingly, the hotel restaurant is near the station (15 min walk) but this is ok because the hotel provides transport. The food there is very good. Overall, I would stay in this hotel again.

The hotel was OK, but the rooms are pretty terrible. The beds are very, very hard. Our room (103) had broken lights and the toilet smelled like the sewer. The humidity was also very high, like high enough for the clothes we had on to be damp. It was nice having a restaurant on site and the food was completely adequate. But I was shocked for the beds to be so hard because other reviews said they were comfortable.

We stayed here after driving to see Mt. Fuji, it was a delightful and friendly hotel. We had the family room with tatami and enough room for the 4 of us, not cramped for a typical Japanese hotel. The breakfast could have been better, it was pretty much a set menu--Japanese-style or Western-style of sandwich which I didn't care for. They had parking lot for our car so it was convenient. Staff was friendly and gave out souvenir keychain and snacks after we checked in. Close to local restaurants and the lake. Highly recommend!!

Excellent hotel located on a quiet street. About 25min walk from train station. Fairly new hotel with nice staff. There is a large market about 15min walk. Restaurants are also within walking distance. Limited breakfast, either Japanese or Western sandwich. Dinner is also limited with beef don or ramen. Half the rooms will have great view of Mt Fuji. Free morning shuttle service to train station. Will stay there again in future.

The toilet had a strong smell every time we used it. Very unpleasant. The coin dryer did not work well. Clothes were dried for more than 60 minutes or more and still damp. The facility needs to clean the dryer more often for better efficiency. On the other hand, free breakfast and nice staffs are the plus of the hotel.

Our room had a view of Mount Fuji so that was a huge bonus. The rooftop is amazing and a real treat to do morning stretching and yoga there with that view. You are an easy walk from the lake, the boats and the rope way. If you want to do a short hike of under 1 hour, there is a steep driveway on the right of the ropeway. Climb that to the hotel and follow the road to the right. You will see signs for a flower park which in fact is at the top of a trail. There is a fantastic view up there and it’s quiet so you can enjoy Fuji in a much more tranquil environment. We still did the ropeway afterwards but the lines were very long and it took us an hour to reach the ropeway car. Get up early so you can do the boat first, then ropeway then hike. We found people tended to wake up later and then the crowds were unpleasant. If you take the 2 day pass which is ropeway, boat and tour bus, make sure you take the green line. At stop 48 there is a fantastic old village with straw rooves and glorious gardens. Someone told us about this and we would have been so sad to have missed this. I had thought 2 full days here may have been too much but I was so happy to have made some discoveries not well publicized. We didn’t bike though I love biking. The roads are narrow and although you can get off them from time to time it’s too dangerous in my opinion. If you could rent for early morning like 6, it would have been tempting because it’s about 20 k around the lake. From 8, travelers are on moving

HaoStay is the only hotel that I had to replace the bath towels myself among all the ones that I have ever stayed. The hotel staff is unable to communicate well in either Japanese or English. The hotel is out of the way with nothing around it. There is a shuttle bus every half hour in the morning but needs to schedule ahead of time. All in all, please do NOT stay here if you have a choice.

Checkin was efficient & well explained. Provided with a code to access room. No key. Pleasantly surprised on entering the room with great view of Mt Fuji from the window. Room very comfortable with 2 beds, a separate sitting area Japanese style, kettle with amenities available from reception. Staff were very good & very attentive to requirements. Access to a rooftop area to admire Mt Fuji. We were lucky with clear days. Breakfast was included with my room - either Japanese cuisine , which was very tasty or international - egg & ham sandwich. Coffee, tea , juices are available. Ate at the restaurant which had a limited menu of 2 items. The ramen was very tasty. Hotel is approx half hour walk from kawaguchiko station. Also a short walk to the lake. Restaurants in the locality requiring a walk from the hotel. Bicycles are also available for hire to explore the area. I enjoyed my stay at Haostay & thank the staff for welcoming nature. Would recommend Haostay.

I had accidentally booked the reservation under only myself, when in actuality, I was staying with my two kids and husband as well.

The Receptionist handled it very well (despite the language barrier) and she made sure we had everything we needed.

The location is great, very walkable and the view is beautiful. Beds were really comfortable. Nothing bad to say!

Hotel very dated. Although clean and room was a good size, it's in need of a reno. Bathroom very small and big step to enter it. Good location to see Mt Fuji from the rooftop (although no grass & furniture like in the photo). We didn't get a room with a view. Very frustrating transport to get to the town, not much to do around the area, hardly any restaurants open and not many people out walking around at night. Didn't feel unsafe at all but felt like nothing was happening. Breakfast was good. Staying around/closer to the lake would be a better option. We only ended up staying 1 night instead of 2.

We got a room with a Mt.Fuji view and it was absolutely one of my favorite parts of my entire trip to Japan. For this price, I can’t recommend HaoStay enough. I think HAOSTAY is very value for money as the rooms are big (as of Japan standards) and it offers a great view of Fuji from the room window and rooftop. The Japanese or sandwich breakfast options were great.

It is a 15 min walk from the train station which is manageable. For transport to the train station, they have fixed vehicle trips at 9am, 9.30am and 10am. It is recommended to book them the night beforehand as there are only spaces for approx 7-9pax.

All in all, I would definitely come back again if I were to go to Kawaguchiko.

Simple accommodations that meets your basic needs well. Lobby is spacious and pleasant like the guest rooms. We were a group of 5 and we had a lot of space in the room.
