A memorable stay. An older hotel with traditional Japanese rooms but comfortable, right beside the lake and close to dining, walking tracks and tourist attractions. The onsen was really nicely done. Included dinner in kimonos for our group and a good breakfast.

The bathroom was very small, and it was dangerous to get in and out of the bathtub with no safety handrails to hold onto, especially when one’s feet are wet. There was a scarcity of hooks and towel racks to hang the towels and one’s clothing. There was no way to adjust the temperature in the room, and we found an opening in the wall with a cover that led to who knows where.

This was my second visit to Royal Hotel Kawaguchiko. The staff here are always friendly and helpful. The onsen is lovely, and the location of the hotel—right next to the Kawaguchiko sightseeing buses and close to the bridge—is great. My only disappointment is that the Japanese-style room that I stayed in did not have real tatami flooring. Even so, I will probably stay here again if I return to Kawaguchiko.

Provided an authentic Japanese room. It was a unique experience. The hotel is located a bit far from the station. Not easy to walk. However, the hotel provides shuttle service from the hotel to station in the morning and from the station to hotel in the afternoon (3 pm to 6 pm). This was very helpful. There are not many restaurants nearby and most of them close by 7 pm. This was the only inconvenience. Best for those who love a quiet and serene place.

This is a very nice hotel, the rooms ae large and comfortable, but you have to be okay with futons on teh floor. It is right across from the lake and within walking distance of the Rope line, boat tours and restaurants and cafes. The Hot springs pools are gender separated and in traditional Japanese style, with an outdoor pool and a hotter indoor poole and full showering and washing with shampoo and soap. A very good place with a free shuttle from the station.

Room is spacious, has A/C and a view of Mt Fuji.
Staff were excellent, always polite and helpful.
Breakfast was good, traditional Japanese style which may not suit everyone.
Room is a bit tired in places, one of the windows was a struggle to open and close - but we didn't go there to spend time in the room.
Bathroom is basic but functional. Shower took a bit of adjustment as the temperature tended to fluctuate.
Location is great, right by the lake with a bus stop for the Red line right outside.
Buses only run from 9 - 17:45 so if you want to early or come back late it's walking or taxi, and taxis weren't abundant.

nice and quiet hotel and old-style onsen. i have no idea if it's the winter time reason or whatever, not so many guests there, basically we shared the whole hotel among 2 or 3 rooms of guests only. nice in a way. but honestly i think the dinner and breakfast could have been better.

However there was initial confusion at the check-in around additional charges which were forced upon us before they would let us have the room key. Even although we had shown them documented evidence that \" Guaranteed & paid in Full\" was not understood by the check-in staff.

The outdoor onsen is really good. One thing I don’t like is the shared common bathroom at the dormitory area is share by female and male together and it has smell, so I don’t use it. I rather go down to the public female bathroom at Onsen area which is much better. I like their free shuttle bus to Train station too. The building interior itself is pretty old.

The hotel was decent aside from the uncomfortable beds + pillows and the subpar breakfast (honestly save your money on breakfast and go to one of the local restaurants).

However the hot springs were fabulous as well as the aesthetic of the room, as well as that, it is very close to Lake Kawaguchi.

I would consider this a hotel more than a hostel. The staff was attentive and friendly. Check in process was easy and appreciated that they scheduled a taxi for my early departure the following day that was outside of the free hotel shuttle times. The tatami room was very spacious and well furnished. We appreciated that the onsen was tattoo friendly for my friend. Only thing we were frustrated with was the phone number listed on Expedia and online was inaccurate. We tried to call the hotel to schedule a pick up from Kawaguchiko Station but upon calling, the number was listed as invalid.

The hotel was NOT what it was look like on their website, It was noise and over crowed. I have booked a room for one person and it turned up it was mixed sex dormitory and without any washing facility. It refused give my money back as I requested. It did NOT mention any this on their website. So please be aware that when you book your room for this hotel!!!

The staff were extremely courteous, and the hotel was located in an excellent location. The food was great and I really enjoyed the Onsen. The shower in the room was faulty in the hotel. However, the staff repaired it immediately. I’d use this hotel again in the future.

Great location, great room.

We stayed here one night and it was really good. The location was amazing, right next to the lake.

Our room was big and kept very warm before we arrived. It was also very clean, though the toilet room smelled a little strange.

Unfortunately we had some bad timing, as the bikes were undergoing maintenance, so we couldn't rent them. However it didn't ruin our stay.

The staff were very kind and the hotel was in good condition overall.

I would definitely stay here again.

Staff were surely at check-in, especially so by Japan standards.
The public areas of the hotel were in clear need of renovation, although the room was in better order
Room was well appointed and private outside onsen (superior room only) was good but the room stank of stale cigarette smoke
I would not pay for breakfast here - rather save the money and get food outside

This place was adequate if you are on a budget but can afford a little better than a hostel, but otherwise I'd try and stay elsewhere.

Spacious Hotel by Lake Kawaguchiko

Most of the Hotels in Kawaguchiko provide shuttle service from the Train Station to the hotel. Just notify the Tourist Center and they will inform the Hotel to fetch you. I believe many bad reviews of the Hotel are due to the worn out rooms of the Old Banquet Level and Old Wing of the Hotel. The rooms in the newer Wing are extremely well built and clean with all the necessary amenities. However, probably due to short staff, I believe they aren't able to keep up with the maintenance and upkeep of the rooms as I do see some breakage and worn off furnishing. The meals which was reserve in advance, were great. I really enjoy their Dinner, with Shabu Shabu on the first night and BBQ on the second. The Onsen was great with a nice outdoor garden. But do be careful at night as it is dimly lit and difficult to see the path around the outdoor onsen.

I travelled with my three years old toddler and five months old baby. We stayed for two nights. We are really happy with this hotel. It's just steps away from kawaguchiko lake and the sightseeing bus stop (next to museum). Hotel staffs are all very friendly and helpful, they provide transfers to/from kawaguchiko station half hourly which is very convenient. We have got a newly renovated tatami floor room which I booked one year ago. It doesn't have Fuji mt view, but for me it's five star, spacious, comfy, the boys sleep so well in there, play in the bath tub. Don't missed out the outdoor hot spring too. In conclusion, it's a perfect hotspring hotel for me. Family friendly. Only con was there are mosquitos in the room and my son got a few bites on him but I don't think this is a big issue since we living next to the lake in summer season. Highly recommended!

There is pick up service for 3:00-6:00 that you can earlier telephone booking. I have phone many times before arrival but the fronkdest operator cannot speak English well so I have make more than 3 phone call that last give up and take the taxi by ourself and only ¥820 from bus/railway station to the hotel.

I'm sure this hotel is decent if you're staying in a private room. I would not recommend staying in the shared rooms. The whole 5th floor is run down. The room was incredibly drafty, no heat. The bathroom is awful, it's men's and women's together and there is no space to put make up on or do your hair. Only one power outlet in the entire room. And the lockers are a joke. I couldn't even fit my small duffle bag in it. The only redeeming point was the one staff member was friendly. I didn't stay very long. I checked out the facilities and promptly checked out of the hotel within a hour.

Paid exorbitant price for an accommodation that served miserable breakfast. To be exact 6 pieces of different food n 1 small slice of salmon was all we had for breakfast. Not worth it. The hot spa tub was a LIE. NOT a hot spa tub , just a bath tub.

Nice hotel for a Kawaguchiko visit

Great hotel for our two night stay at in Kawaguchiko. It wasn't the easiest property to find on foot in the dark, but once we got there and checked in, we were very pleased with our Japanese-style room. It was in a great location right next to the lake and within walking distance of everywhere we wanted to see in town.

Platz Angebot im Zimmer sehr grosszügig (Modern Japanese Style). Ich hatte Mühe wegen Hausstaub (sowohl Klimaanlage als das Bett). Onsen ok, allerdings schwammen auch hier viel Pollen auf dem Wasser.
Irgendwie hat vom Personal etwas gefehlt, um sich herzlich willkommen zu fühlen.

最低最悪でした。
国内外沢山旅をしていますが、こんな嫌な思いをしたのは初めてです。
入浴時間内にも関わらず、清掃の男性が女風呂に入ってきました。中にいますと大声で伝えたにもかかわらず気にせず入ってきました。私達を見てもそのまま片付けを始め、出て行って下さいと伝えたら渋々でで行きました。警察を呼ぼうかと思いました。信じらませんでした。トラウマになります。

家族4人で2食付2泊を利用しました。
残り1つだった部屋お任せプランがとてもリーズナブルで、どんな部屋なんだろ〜と話していましたが普通に広く清潔なお部屋で快適に過ごせました。
夕食も朝食も品数が多くどれも美味しく、量が多過ぎて子どもは残しちゃいましたが、とても満足です。山梨の果物やほうとうが出たのも嬉しかった。
温泉の露天風呂も素晴らしかった。
スタッフさん達も皆感じが良く、娘が大きいスリッパを履いてるのを見て子ども用に替えたりしてくれました。
スタッフさん達が皆マスク着用されてるのだけが残念でした。従業員は義務なのでしょうか？
接客業は顔が見えるのも大切なサービスの一部だと思っています。外国人のお客さんも多いと思うので、マスクは失礼にあたる国も多いです。
スタッフさん達の笑顔がいつか見れるようにと願っております。
総合的に本当に満足でした。またぜひ利用させて頂きたいです。
