Worth turning a blind eye to the tired condition of this hotel for the views and set dining experience. Our family of three came away with great memories staying here, waking up to epic lake and Mt. Fuji views, the large, Japanese-style family room we had on our second of two nights, friendly staff and convenient shuttle to Kawaguchiko bus station. The public bath was a fun experience for us, particularly with the Fuji view while soaking. The hotel entrance makes it feel like it's a luxury hotel, but the room we had on the first night, in particular, was shabby with missing handles, chipped and worn furniture, toilet seat partially detached, and just all-round tired fixtures and fittings. Food was superb.

The location is lovely and the onsen is very clean, but the hotel was extremely noisy. The roof shakes whenever someone walks in the room above. I got only 3 hours sleep here because it was so noisy. The hotel staff also didn’t inform us that you can’t have breakfast unless you register the day prior.

The location of the property was like right on the lake. So it was very convenient for a lot of activities around the area. The parking was across the hotel and there were plenty available. The check-in process was quite painless. The receptionists spoke English well. There was no problem communicating like asking whether we could park across the street in the parking lot. The hotel was a little bit tired and old. But the room was clean, decent size for Japan standards and the view of Mt Fuji in the room was breath taking. So I felt the trade off of a little run down infrastructure for a good price room and view was well worth it to stay here.

部屋が快適なのは富士山が一望できる美しい景色のおかげです。

部屋は掃除されていましたが、ベッドの上には髪の毛、玄関の靴箱に入っているスリッパがめちゃくちゃ。玄関の掃除をそもそもやってないのが明らか。

スタッフはほぼいない。
チェックイン時もチェックアウト時も、カウンターに1人のみ。
部屋までの案内はない。
6階以上、上の階に泊まる場合、5階でエレベーターを乗換えるんだけど、乗換えのエレベーターが遠くて分かりにくい。
説明がないので、スタッフのサービスについて評価もなにも、サービスを受けてないに等しい。

そして、1番驚いたのは大浴場の外のウォーターサーバー。白いミネラルが水の出口にびっしりこびりついてて、風呂上がりに水を飲む気が一気に失せた。

ベッドはとにかく硬い！
クッション性はなし。横向きに寝たいのに、肩を痛めるレベル。全く安眠できませんでした。

このホテルで素晴らしいのは眺望のみです

The remarks about the hotel being dated are true, but it is a good base for exploring some areas with great views of the lakes and Mt. Fuji (when clear, Mt. Fuji was viewable directly from my window). I stayed in a traditional Japanese room, and it is showing some signs of age, but it was clean and completely fine. Ate dinner at the restaurant, and it was an impressive, full-spread Japanese fare event. Not a bad choice, but not five-star appointments either.

We stayed one night at Hotel Mifujien in the Japanese style room. It was very pleasant and clean. We enjoyed the onsen very much. There were a few things that would ruin the experience for someone more picky. There was bad sewage smell from the bathroom. With closed doors to the room, it wasn’t too bad, but someone more sensitive could have had a hard time tolerating it. Also, glass in the onsen can be cleaned more often as it was hard to enjoy the view through salt stains. For dinner, we went to a restaurant near by. It would be nice to have an option to buy breakfast at the hotel, our reservation didn’t have it included.
But overall we enjoyed our stay and the room. Fuji was kind to us to show all its beauty. It was breathtaking.

Don't be fooled by the pictures they posted. This hotel is terrible!
The room is dirty, smelly and disgusting. I didn't even take a shower because of the black mold in the bathroom. This is not a Japanese standard. What a shame!
You need to switch 3 elevators to get to the room. I believe it is another old building somehow connected to the hotel.
Dirty wall, dirty air conditioner.
So called Mountain View is a bunch of machines on the top of another building .
The location is not convenient.
High price for a terrible stay.

Stayed in room 412 bathroom was very smelly and had mold. Bed linen had a funny smell, fridge was broken meaning we had to throw away some food we bought with us. Room was dated and worn out. Found several bugs in the room during our 2 day stay. Would not stay again.

Our short stay at Hotel Mifujien and Kawaguchiko was wonderfull. The room had a breathtaking view of Fuji-San, plenty of space and gave us a proper traditional Japanese experience.

Whist our party aren't the biggest lovers of sashimi, the half board food offering had plenty to try and taste. The sheer amount included was wonderfull. Both hostesses for our evening and morning meals were very attentive and welcoming.

Overall our little excursion to the base of Mount Fuji was improved by our stay at this hotel. Definitely one to visit again when we are back in Japan.

The room is quite big. We were a party of 4, so the room had 2 beds and 2 Japanese futons, which were all very comfortable.

We went to the hot tub, which was located on the same floor as our room. The communal area was quite clean.

Our package includes dinner and breakfast. Both were delicious. Overall, we are very satisfied with our stay.

This is a traditional Onsen hotel. We stayed in a Japanese tatami room facing Mt Fuji. The staff prepared the futons for us. The staff were polite and friendly. The Japanese breakfast was good. Shuttle service was provided from the train station.

Since we step in the hotel, staff there were very unfriendly and rude. There was no service at all and was the worst experience I have ever had staying in an ryokan. The dinner was tasteless and the tiger shrimp seemed rotten and cooked for a long time. Rice and miso soup were served after we have finished all our m doishes. Furniture was old and with stains. The morning breakfast was much better than the dinner. The hotel seems not welcoming us for staying the night.

The scenery is stunning. The hotel facilities & staffs are impressive. Even though there is nothing much to do nearby the hotel, the transportation is quite good.you can take a sightseeing bus (Red-line) for traveling around since there is a bust stop right away less than 100m from the hotel :-)

This place is amazing and out of my expectation. We spent one night there and the service and food are luxurious. The hotel environment is very traditional Japanese like in 90s style. However, we enjoyed the huge Tatami room and dining room. The dining experience is very unique to us. Also, the hot spring is incredible too. Make sure to go hot spring around sunrise. Honestly, I would rate this place 3.5 out of 5 by just reviewing those Google comments. After spending one night here, I would have 4.5 out of 5 and would like to revisit here again!

Super smelly in my room, my room number is 415, do take note, there is a dam strong smell in the toilet, and I wonder why the hotel didn’t do anything about it, I have read other people review that their room is smelly too, so I guess this room has been smelly for quite a period? Does the hotel feel that it doesn’t matter to them? Since only one guest will get this room. I Spend over $300/night just for this smelly room, Doesn’t make sense right? And I request to change room, however it was full. When I first ask the staff about it, she just say can’t do anything, and I request to change room the next day when other guest check-out, as I’ve booked the room for 2nights, she didn’t bother to check if there’s any guests checking out next day to let me change, and just tell me that it fully booked. What a good customer service. The next morning, I went down to counter and request for a change of room, this time is a guy who serve me, and he went into the office to ask his manager, so he checked the system, and get me another room whereby the guests gonna check out.PLEASE TAKE NOTE ROOM 415, SMELLY AF.
Laundry is closed for the first night I stay, but resume it service the next day. 2 onsen available.
Walk around 20min to the nearest Lawson at late night as there is no more bus service after 7pm.
Anyway, the food is good, and the staffs at the restaurant is friendly too.

Little old but has a character. Good food and Onsen bath. Bus stop is just a minute walk from the hotel but you may have to work out how and which bus to take. Good are to walk around too.
For a Japanese good old feeling, for those who from overseas, would be a unique experience.

We love the location. It is close to Hotel Kukuna which is one of the bus stop. And we did not choose meal option and could have a very nice meal at Route Inn next door. Onsen is perfect (very large and clean and excellent view). Great view of Mt. Fuji. We do not like the shuttle service availabilities as it only runs three times (0900, 0930 and 1000). The inroom heating is perfect. The amenities (beds, fridge, shower, toilet, etc.) was great. Some of the past reviews have been unfair, in my opinion, as we are quite familiar with this type of accommodation and loved this hotel for meeting our expectation. Definitely we will come back again.

The hotel is in a great location, close to the town centre and tourist locations, such as cable car. The onsen facing Mount Fuji is particularly impressive, allowing us to admire the mountain while enjoying the onsen. Staff was friendly and supportive, with good English skills. There is an open and free car park just outside the hotel. Overall experience was great.

Nice view of Mount Fuji, which was as promised. But the view of lake kawaguchi was obstructed. After looking at the photo provided by hotels.com, understood the angle was purposely chosen to highlight Mount Fuji view and not disclose that view of lake kawaguchi would have being blocked. Reception staff were old school type; professional and get job done. Restaurant staff on the other hand were more friendly and warm; though they couldn’t speak any English but we manage to get by with simple words and hand gestures. Didn’t had too much problem getting to and from kawaguchiko station, thanks to help from hotel shuttle, though we pretty much followed the timing published closely. Room we stayed was large and comfortable; but the whole hotel was really old and not as well maintained as others we visited; wall paper torn off, cigarette stains on carpet etc. Dinner and breakfast provided in the meal plan was to us luxurious and very nicely presented; though must admit this was our first ryokan experience so can’t compare. Overall was a pleasant stay, value for money compared to other ryokans nearby.

I read some poor review about this hotel. To me is very good hotel. Staff are polite and helpful. Room is old but is clean. My room got a very breathtaking view of the Mt Fuji. Hotel a bit far from the station, but they provide shuttle bus. When you arrive at the train station. Just go to the tourist information counter and ask them to call the hotel. Then, the hotel will send they bus to fetch you in 10mins.

This hotel location is perfect view to see Kawaguchi lake and Mount Fuji in the same direction. It’s near Kawaguchi lake.
It’s not too far from Kawaguchiko station. The hotel provided free shuttle bus for transportation between hotel and station.
There are restaurants nearby the hotel. Ropeway is just 10 minute walk from the hotel.

Breakfast and dinner in Japanese set are very good. There are variety of food.
Room is large, clean and in Japanese traditional style. We can enjoy lake and Fuji view in our room.
Onsen is quite large. There are indoor and open air onsen on the 7th floor.

Staff is very kind and helpful. They can speak English very well.
This hotel is very good for any type of customer.

Loved the Japanese style rooms. The view is good, even better if the clouds were clear as we would’ve had a view of Mount Fuji.
We had a big spacious room.
The only slight down side was the faint smell of cigarettes. I’m not sure if there is a smoking room near by or the room had been used by smokers.

It was terrible experience with hotel mifujien.
(1) 10PM we found a giant spider in the bedroom, the spider is bigger as a mango! And we were terrified and requested for room change. The staff rejected at first and we kept asking until 2AM that the staff moved us to a smaller room.
(2) The pillor and mattress cover are dirty with oil leaking out.

The condition of the interior and room has ‘aged’, the smell from the carpets and wooden furnitures was not friendly.

I am not sure if they clean the tatami beds and mattresses. It’s a long way to walk from the hotel entrance to our room which located at another connected building.

The hotel staffs were attentive and friendly. The hotel doorman quickly walked over to help out with our luggages once we parked down our car across the hotel.

Perfect view of Mount Fuji

Service is impeccable as with all Japanese hotels. Room is spacious and has a perfect view of Mount Fuji but that also means that the hotel location is not near to town centre. Hotel provides a pick up service in the afternoon and shuttle service to town centre in the morning so all is good. You will be able to catch a view of Mount Fuji at the hot spring area too, which is divided into outdoor and indoor pools. Dinner and breakfast are provided as part of our booking and highly encouraged to include as the food is sumptuous and delicious.

超高CP值的飯店。雖然硬體已稍有年紀，充滿了昭和感，但維持的很乾凈。早晚的食物超級美味。如有機會再去河口湖，一定會再選擇此處

객실 및 편의시설이 생각보다 많이 노후되었고 거기에 비해
숙박비가 다른 료칸이나 다른 지역 료칸에 비해 좀 비싼 느낌이 있습니다.
방음시설도 되어있지 않고 옆에서, 위에서 걸을 때나 티비보거나 할 때 다 들립니다.
온천/노천탕 역시 뷰만 조금 좋을 뿐, 일반 목욕탕과 큰 차이는 없습니다.
