Highly allergic to dogs, so happy to find a pet-free place. However, they use a highly scented steam clean on carpeting in hallway. Room did not have the harsh scent, thankfully. Older building, but nice upgrades in bathroom. Comfy bed, WONDERFUL bedding, wall hvac system worked well and provided a nice \"white noise\", which may be needed when it's the busy season. Bring an eye mask if you don't like any light in the room--the blackout curtains are showing their age. Very quiet, but, really, who goes to the coast of Maine in March?

There was no one at the front desk for several minutes when we arrived. The room temperature was freezing! We had to turn it up to 90’ for half hour to warm up the room. The bathroom shower curtain was stained, the shower had mold. The towels were thin and very small.

This was a great place to stay. The guy at the front desk was helpful. The room & bathroom were clean. The room stayed warm and comfortable despite being 12 degrees over night. The bed was comfortable. It wasn’t a big room but sufficient for an overnight stay. We will definitely stay here again.

The room wasn't clean when I showed up. Food was spilled on the fridge, dirt was all over the floor, and there was hair in the shower. People were drunk in the hall, walking up and down screaming at 2 AM with liquor bottles in their hands. I also ran into people smoking pot outside the building.

I booked a non smoking room but room smelled as if someone had smoked an entire pack inside. I literally struggled to breathe as I’ve had asthma issues. I asked if they could change me to another room as I couldn’t breathe properly of how bad it smelled and they told me to turn on the AC (which was already on) and leave the door open and that the smell would go away and that rooms were all full so they couldn’t change me. I then asked if I could get my money refunded and they wanted me to jump over hoops and a bunch of stuff to get the money back so I left to another hotel to stay for the night and lost my money. Worse experience ever!

The room needs updating. Carpet coming up, toilet paper holder broken, toilet seat broken. Bed was clean and certainly was a room to stay a night in mediocre. It says it a boutique hotel but that’s a stretch. Pictures online make the lobby look so cool but in reality not so much. If someone has any type of scent allergies you cannot stay here. The hallway is so highly fragranced it’s overpowering. Outside of the building looks like it’s been recently sided. Lamp post in parking lot area looks like it was hit and just laying in the median of the parking lot. Front desk gentleman was polite and helpful. Overall meh. For $50-$60 more you could stay at another location like the Hilton garden that is far superior.

Sheets were on bed in wrong manner (top sheet on sideways) when trying to fix we saw the mattress was dirty with what looked like possible bugs and/or residue . Food (popcorn kernels) stuck in mattress crevice . All this was pointed out to management including showing him the photos. His response was that the sheets covered the mattress implying there was no issue. We could not spend the night and lost the room fee of 245.00. Totally unacceptable conditions

Room was clean and basic. Sink definitely needed an upgrade. Arrived at 6 pm - for a 3 pm check in - room was not ready. Were told we had to wait.
When we got our room it was right next to the breakfast room and the front desk. Outside the window was the outside fire pit /recreation area.
The noisy rec area was shut down by 10 pm. In the meantime we had to keep our curtains closed.
Discovered how loud the microwave was as it was used throughout the night and in the early morning. The constant ding was an absolute disgrace. All in all a hotel we will it be returning to …ever. Very unsatisfactory stay.

Worst hotel experience in my life. As we arrived, the parking lot was being re-surfaced, tar everywhere. The breakfast was terrible, ice cold eggs,lukewarm sauces and the pancake making device did no work.
Checked out early after second night. The Clark on duty was unable to print out a receipt or to explain why that was the case

I selected this hotel because it was the only one that had rooms available and it seemed decent by what I could tell online. After reading some of the reviews, I was a little concerned about the cleanliness, but that proved to be not an issue at all. The room was adequate comfortable, and the check-in process was simple. It's in a convenient location and if you're just looking for a simple room and a clean bed to sleep in this checks those boxes.

The hotel itself was alright, but my main issue is that the outside door that entered the hotel didn't lock or have a key card, so anyone could enter. Also, my hotel room door didn't have a bolt or manual lock either, and the door took a lot of effort to actually close (once I accidentally didn't close it hard enough so it just stayed open). The hotel also had a lot of really big vans and men lingering outside around 10:00/11:00 pm and idk if they were there as guests or just hanging out, but I didn't love that.

So overall, I didn't feel very safe at this hotel and it wasn't the cleanest experience.

The lobby, dining area and rooms are smaller than they appear in the photos. The rooms are clean but need a bit of maintenance. The curtain was ripped, the coffee machine didn't work, the fridge was cool not cold so I kept my milk on ice each night and the desk chair definitely need to be replaced. The staff only enters the room upon request and said that if you need any more towels or shampoo/conditioner/soap to just ask. We did ask for more supplies to which we were happily handed extras. The breakfast was ok, slightly changing each day (scrambled eggs, then an omelet, some days danishes, other days muffins instead). The tea, coffee and water and juice was available 24 hours. The staff was extremely nice. Its an acceptable place for a night or two but due to it's size, its becomes a bit tight for more than a 2 night stay. During our stay it seemed like most guests were workers who were there for an extended stay or guests stopping over for one night on their way to a different location.

Downtown Freeport is about a 5 min drive from the hotel and Old Port is about 20-25 mins from the hotel.

Never have I given such a low rating to an establishment that I booked through Expedia. Upon entering the lobby to check in the smell of laundry detergent was extremely unpleasant. As we made our way to the counter we saw why as the door directly behind the counter was open. Staff at check in was friendly and were able to complete the transaction quickly. When we got to the parking area near our entrance we discover an out of service vehicle that hasn’t moved in a long time. Trash cans outside of the building were completely filled and running over. Entering the hallway near our room and the smell was a cross between laundry detergent and something trying to mask the smell. Our room was musty and smelled like Fritos. Bathroom was not clean with hair remaining in shower and shower curtain was moldy and stained. Carpet in room turned my socks black and needs to be shampooed or replaced. We thought about asking for another room but figured with the smell throughout the facility that we wouldn’t do any better. We chose not to partake in the “breakfast” based on the cleanliness of the facility. While pictures look good, they don’t tell a complete picture. Would not recommend.

Wow. What a gem! If you love sleeping in a damp carpet that smells like wet dog and mold, this is your dream vacation spot. Who needs clean sheets when you can play “find the stranger’s hair” in your bed and on your facecloth? Bonus points for the black mold ring in the microwave and hair in the fridge—because nothing says luxury like a side of fungus with your leftovers.

The king bed? Felt like lying in a sinkhole. The “updated” bathroom? Dirty tub, grimy window—super chic. Pro tip: keep your shoes on at all times unless you’re into squishy carpet adventures.

If you have allergies, asthma, or, you know, standards—do yourself a favor and book literally anywhere else. Photos look nice because Photoshop is free. Reviews are glowing because apparently fiction is too.

I asked for a change of towels (they don't do *anything* with the room unless you ask), but that didn't happen, so we boosted towels from the cleaner's carts.

Later in the stay, I asked for them to clean, and they did that time.

Worst part, they utterly failed my \"mud\" test. After I'm in for the night, I prefer walking barefoot in the room. When I next get in the shower, I look to see how much dirt, lint, and other people's hair I track in. Probably the worst I've ever seen.

Freeport is our midway stopping point to Acadia and our usual place did not have any availability so I tried this as an option, primarily for the price point and its major brand affiliation.
Signage could use a boost - at least put something really obvious for registration/the front door.
No one is ever actually at the front desk - you have to ding the little yellow bell a number of times, or there is a phone number to call to chase someone down. When they appeared, we had obviously interrupted something important and we were a bother to deal with.
We showed up at 1:30 on the off chance there was a room available - we knew we were early, but sometimes we luck out; we were told to come back after 4:00 (the Check In on the website is 3:00).
We’re from Upstate New York; the woman checking us in told us she visited Manhattan once but left because there were too many Black people. 😮 🚩
The breakfast (traditional eggs, sausage, pancakes, etc… was surprisingly good.
The mattresses need to be rotated - I felt like I was stuck in a ditch. The room and bathrooms were clean.
This is a “manage your expectations” kind of place. Did we need a hotel room and a place to sleep? Yes. Did this fulfill that need? Yes. Will we be returning? Nope.

The Freeport Ascend Hotel was just okay. Nothing exceptional about the facilities or staff. It was nice that all rooms were on first floor snd there was plenty of parking. Bed was comfortable, but pillows were like the size of a throw pillow and very uncomfortable. The free breakfast looked pretty mediocre at best. I went with a cup of yogurt and banana. Nothing friendly about staff. Just a blah attitude about having to be inconvenienced by a guest checking in or.

My wife and I stayed here for a quick getaway. The staff was excellent, very attentive and kind. They accommodated us despite showing up early. The room was nice, the bed comfy. It was very easily accessible as all rooms are on a single level. There was plenty of parking. The breakfast was meh. Edible, but not anything to comment on. Overall it was good value for money.

This is a perfectly clean rather boring hotel/motel. When I showed up to check in, nobody was at the desk for at least 15 minutes, but we did check in early. When someone did come to the desk, the check-in was quick. The room was very serviceable. The location is close to town, but you cannot walk. There was no body wash or soap for the shower and the towels were the size of large hand towels. You can hear every single door that closes and person talking in the hallway but if you’re looking for a decent place to sleep so you can go explore, then this is fine.
