Very clean and Newly remodeled Room. Close to the main shopping street and very walkable to restaurants and a fantastic view of the river. We would definitely stay again. Parking was excellent.
There was coffee in the room but at 7:30am on Sunday with breakfast not starting until 8, there was no sign of coffee or breakfast in the lobby so we left in the morning without breakfast and extra coffee for the road. We also had to call the number at the front desk to get checked in, which took longer than I expected it would.

The room was clean and neat however, there were a few little things that needed to be checked before assigning someone to the room. For example, I asked for an extra blanket they handed me a blanket that had a red circle dot on it, the phone wasn’t working, the table and chair were ripped, and it looked discussing. Furthermore, there was a row in the double door which I had not requested upon making my reservation. Expedia charged me $200 for the night which is overpaid therefore someone should be able to check the room to make sure everything is up to the good standard. You treat people the same way you want others to treat you.

Not great. Black ice at the entrance, some salt would had made it safe. Our room was OK, 58degrees
when we arrived in December, it took a while to heat up. The breakfast area (8am) was filthy, no staff, little to no offerings, coffee carafe was empty, waffle maker was disgusting with no ingredients. All signs of a property not being well kept.

Good was a large, included parking lot. Maintenance was poor with a very loose toilet seat and water spraying out all over the place out of the shower head. Stains on bed sheets! The breakfast is minimal. Bread for toast, a waffle maker, some eggs in the warmer, some prepackaged muffins and yogurt.
Coffee was not too bad. The one guy as staff was the only staff member we saw all weekend and was a pleasant guy. Security is not very good at all, as anyone can enter the place and no one at the desk at all times. They need room card key entrance at the main entrance for more secure place. My biggest gripe is when my wife called to book a couple of rooms, she was told they did not have many rooms left for Thanksgiving weekend and told a price per room of more than $250 per night. I thought that was a little pricy for a basic hotel and checked online and found the rooms for more than $100 less. And when we were there only maybe 3 or 4 rooms were occupied? The place is at the top of Warren Street and a good location for exploring the main street, but it needs work. I probably can't recommend this place, but it worked for us for the Thanksgiving getaway.

The parklng lot was very dark and run down. When I arrived there was no one at the desk, in fact there never was anyone at the desk. There is a number to call to get them there. When he did show up he just asked for my ID and handed me a key and said \"that's it\". I asked where the room was and he offered that it was on the second floor. When I went to check out, he was not there. I just left my key. The room was clean and comfortable, a far cry from the outside. Basically there was no customer service for the price.

The place was the most inexpensive in walking distance of downtown so wet didn't expect luxery. But we didn't expect mold in the sink, the cover of the baseboard heater, or the sense that no one cares about the condition of the place. Nonetheless, it did allow us to spend a night within walking distance of much of town without spending an arm and a leg. With a little work and modest expense, the place could be much nicer.

The breakfast area was still dirty from the day before, and I had to ask the manager to have it cleaned. Unfortunately, the next morning was the same situation. We ended up going out for breakfast down the street, which cost us an extra $60. The laundry area was also neglected, with about a quarter inch of dust on the washer and dryer. For the price of this hotel, I would recommend staying somewhere else.

Manager, Zach, was helpful and friendly. He went out of his way to make sure that the members of my party (in town for a wedding) were well accommodated and happy. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Room temperature was good. There was plenty of parking in the open parking lot. The neighborhood & park across the street were a bit run down but this is a charming, walkable (but hilly) & quirky old city. The St Charles Hotel fit right in. I’d absolutely stay there again.

My room was fairly clean, except for the fact that there was a prominent blood stain on the underside of the duvet (i.e. the side facing my body when I got between the covers).

The front desk (only?) employee was overwhelmed by 4 groups checking in, none of whom had rooms ready because there was only one person cleaning the hotel. I was already 30 minutes late to the wedding I was in town for, and so I decided against requesting a new duvet (how would I have gotten a word in edgewise to make the request? who would have had the time to remake the bed?) and just slept on the other side of the bed from the blood.

The room was dingy and cramped, and the curtains were falling off the wondow, which was in terrible condition. The coffee maker was dusty on the inside. The elevator was filthy - it looked as if something had spilled on the floor and had not been cleaned up for a long time. The hotel has potential, but it's not being realized. If the front door worked it would add charm.

This hotel was BLEAK. Shocking for something that cost over 400$ for one night. The smell was horrible. When we arrived they gave us a key, we unlocked our room to find someone else already there and in the shower. They apologized and told us we would receive a discount on the room and gave us a different room than what we booked as a compromise. It was old and dirty and giving motel, not hotel. The breakfast in the morning was so rough. Microwaved sausage patties and stale bread. Truly one of my worst hotel experiences.

It needs more help. I saw one young man doing most of the work. But he kept it functioning. It has its own parking lot and I liked it's location on one end of Warren St. At first glance it seems that Warren Street is the only draw. But if you walk up behind St. Charles there are wonderful views of the hills around the town.

The front desk was kind and understanding when I told them that our sheets were dirty, there were tacks in the floor, the phones don’t work to call out of the room. There were 3 large spiders in bathroom. There was dirt and black hair in bedding. The pillows were all stained.
It smelled awful in the hallways. The paint is chipping off. There were homeless people sleeping at doorway. I tried to book another room immediately and everything was booked within 1 hr radius . The lamp looked like it caught on fire recently . The fridge froze our milk and juice and had to throw it away. The AC unit worked but smelled weird. My son didn’t want to stay.
We drove from VA to my cousins wedding and had to bring in our sleeping bags and sheets.the elevator took a couple minutes to close the door. The staff said they were working on fixing the phones. I got several bites from spiders and hoping they aren’t bed bugs.
The door dot our room didn’t lock.

I had to have my room changed 2 times and then the second night I was awaken by a couple
Trying to open my room door which frighten me then the front desk personnel knocked on the door with the couple I had to explain to him that I was moved to this room the night before because my room had electrical problems mine you the room had strong fumes from spackling and wasn’t properly cleaned since maintenance was just in there as I was walking in I was so disappointed since I had such a great experience in May when I went.

This hotel was absolutely not worth $250+ per night. The rooms were not very clean, and the doors to the hallway were not square, so you could actually see into people’s rooms as you walked by. When we tried to check in, there was no one at the front desk and we had to call the phone number twice before the manager finally arrived, half-awake, to check us in.

Not even 10 minutes later, after walking across the street for water, we returned to find a woman clearly high on drugs ransacking the continental breakfast area in the lobby. To make matters worse, when we left the next morning, the police were on-site.

Overall, this was an unsettling and disappointing stay… far from the experience you’d expect at this price point.

This property bears no resemblance to the description on their website. The property is in dire need of improvements. A dank, musky odor hits you as soon as you enter the lobby. It is in disrepair with wires hanging from the ceilings in the common areas. My wife and I were so disappointed, that we cancelled our reservation upon arrival and took our chances finding another hotel to stay for the weekend.

Room and hotel are definitely old and run down. The front of the front desk was very dusty. Abandoned buildings across the street were very scary. The locals said it’s not safe at night around there. A scary man jumped into the back seat of my sister’s car while sitting outside waiting for us to come down and they had to scream and threaten him to get out of her car. I was uneasy about the front entrance of the hotel being open with no one at the front desk at 1am when we got back from the wedding. We didn’t need a key or anything to get into the hotel entrance.
I didn’t like that we couldn’t put our expensive items into the safe in the room because the instructions of how to reset the pin were completely scratched off. Other than that, our beds were clean and the room was neat. Thank goodness we only had to stay 1 night.

I only gave 1 star bcuz it made me. This is the most unsafe hotel ever in Hudson. From a landline phone in room that is not connected to anything (paper weight) to the t.v not working to the ceiling light/fan hanging by wires in the bathroom. But to top it off not once but twice have the General Manager walk into my room unannounced, the 2nd being at 10pm at night, Is unbelievable. And reason i got......ooops. This day and age to walk into a hotel room unannounced when someone is sleeping is as dangerous as breaking and entering. And well you know the consequences

Once lovely hotel is a sad shadow of its former self. The pile of cigarette butts in the corner of the entrance area was a good clue to what lay inside: the basics are met but no one cares. I've stayed here off and on for years since Hudson is my hometown, and the location is terrific. But the current iteration of the old St Charles lacks any charm. A little care would go a long way-- a box of dying plants at the edge of the garden could be planted or ditched; the cheapest plastic cutlery in the breakfast area could be upgraded; a dirty food container on the hallway floor could be removed in a timely way. On the plus side, the bed was comfortable and the shower was fine; on the minus side, one bedside lamp and power/charger did not work, no housekeeping service during our two days and nights. Worst of all was that we were overcharged 25% from the Expedia price.

We’re only in town because of a funeral of a very close family member so there were not many places to stay unfortunately.There were a previous guest hair in the shower that I asked the staff to take care of, and didn’t there was dirt and grime behind the handle of the sink. The iron and ironing board are just leaned against the wall. The curtains were very old, dirty and dusty very fragile to even move, The bed sheets were probably only 300 count and very well worn but believe they were clean. The environmental unit was quite dirty. Walls were painted by amateur had alot scuff marks on them and chipped paint. There was what appeared to be some bodily fluid on the front of the drawer between the two beds. If there were any other place to have stayed, we would have we will not be back and would not recommend it. The hallway outside the room there was either blood or some other bodily fluid on the walls. It was only for one night and we survived sleep was not very good. The continental breakfast was dry cereal toast if you wanted to do it yourself.

A number of other hotels in Hudson were booked. We chose St. Charles. It was acceptable although a bit run down. They are working to refresh the facilities, but it is clearly a work in progress. Beds were EXCELLENT. Shower GOOD. Not enough hangers. Storage cabinets almost falling apart. Good things and bad.

Our room had awful paint color with flecks of paint chips. The air conditioner was off in our room prior to our arrival so we walked in to a hot room. Bed sheets had stains on them. The St. Charles Hotel is so close to being an amazing place to stay. The location is cool, right in the heart of Hudson. Lots to wander around and see. The city appears to be in the midst of a rebirth or renewal. Some places are updated and vibrant- others places and in various stages of decay and/or restoration.



So, the hotel. The building is very cool. An old building with lots of character thats been there forever. Part of it is restored and the other part looks like an abandoned building. The front entrance is closed - doesn’t look to be in repair - just closed. When we arrived there was no one at the desk located at the side entrance. There was a sign to call a couple numbers to get a hold of someone. Eventually someone did answer and came to the desk in a couple of minutes. This wasn’t an issue really - just kind of odd. The person at the desk was helpful and got us checked in.

The room was mildly updated and clean. The bathroom was remolded recently and was in decent shape. Our room looked out over the front of the hotel with a street view. The room windows are in serious need of cleaning and repair. They looked open from the street - just broken I guess. The flower boxes haven’t been weeded or cared for in a very long time. With a bit more effort the place could be spectacular. It’s a nice place to stay if you can past the first impression.

Ok for basic lodging- fairly sterile room was clean and mattress was very good. But some misgivings- at 6:15 am there was a banging on our door- woke us up and of course distressing- turns out it was another guest trying to find there way back to their room- But NO PEEP HOLE VIEWER to see whoever it was! Called the desk, and NO ANSWER! WENT TO VOICE MAIL!!! I was ready to call 911 but the knocker went away and we went back to bed- notified the manager as we checked out, she apologized, said she got my message, and reviewed the security camera footage, confirmed the knocker was a guest who forgot their room number. Great! Also, shower had no anti- slip strips on floor, very slippery, and loose wall tiles in the shower stall. We will not return as guests.

The price and location of this hotel make it easy to ignore minor areas that are rough around the edges. For example, if youon’t like the free breakfast, which is admittedly spare, step outside and for to the Hudson Roastery, a fantastic coffee spot. You’ll also be steps away from a pleasant little park and Warren Street, a commercial strip loaded with great restaurants and shopping. Parking was plentiful and the overall vibe was relaxed. I’d stay here again!

a bare-bones, tired facility

very tired and plain faciity. No pictures on the walls, no hooks to hang clothes or towels, no sitting chair(s) in the room, no screen on the window, old and tattered drapes (actually disgusting), noisy AC, bath tile in need of repair. The room view was at a totally dilapidated building. The vending machine was empty except for one small bag of pretzels. the entrance doors were locked at 11 - we had to call a number to get in! Breakfast very limited. On the positive side the beds appeared clean as did the towels. The maid service was fine and front desk folks friendly.
