Reasonably priced and decent for a one night stay

Room was a good size, bed comfy, clean, bathroom decent, no issues overall. Was a little warm as no air conditioning and the window only opened a crack. Delivery truck outside the window at 5:30am unfortunately especially as window was open. Food in bar was tasty. Generally good value for the price .

Adequate stay - room was comfortable enough. The furnishings of the room and general decor of the hotel are a bit dated. The welcome was fine, a bit perfunctory. Just to note, I was in room 203 which was *right* above the parking area for food delivery so starting around 5am it got noisy with someone unloading a lorry.

Positives- free parking, bed very very comfortable, bedding smelt lovely, easy walking distance of Athlone, reception staff friendly and helpful, bath filled quickly and was hot

Areas for improvement- bar food was dreadful, staff showed lack of awareness of allergies and intolerance, this also extended to the breakfast buffet with no allergens displayed, old food stuffed down the sides of the seats needed a clean

Athlone stay

The apartment was okay. The one thing I would recommend is that the dining and kitchen area be cleaned better. The furniture, such as the couch and chairs should be cleaned better or get leather ones which clean up much better. Also, the carpet could be cleaned. The bedroom and bathroom was fine.

There are no laundry facilities onsite or nearby, despite their listing stating they are available. The bar staff were friendly. Children are allowed in the bar area so there was a lot of running back and forth and screaming. If you are looking for a quiet place to have a pint, this is not it. There is plenty of parking, which is a plus given the limited (free) parking elsewhere in town. If youre up for the walk, its only 10-15 minutes to Sean's Bar.

Disaster - will never book here again

When I arrived at a late hour, there was no room available despite having two emails to confirm my booking. Said there was no record of my booking. Guy at desk told me he arranged bed in nearby hotel and that manager would contact me following day. Arrived at other hotel who said they never heard from hotel I booked and had no rooms. Couldn’t find anywhere and ended up sleeping in car. No contact since from hotel.

The Shamrock lodge was a beautiful place to stay. Our room was clean and equipped with all that we needed, and the customer service was incredible. The lodge is also a short walk from the city center, so we were able to easily enjoy all that Athlone had to offer! The spay next door to the lodge was a lovely experience as well, the ladies gave us the best massages and were an absolute joy!

Family trip, stopover from West to East

What a great place for a stopover. Not a far walk into town but the accommodation was an unexpected surprise, the whole unit to ourselves. The food in the bar, although only a sandwich was beautifully presented and they really accommodated us as I believe the kitchen was due to close. The staff were all wonderful. Would definitely recommend people travelling across Ireland to stop for the night to recharge the batteries.

First time to Shamrock Lodge, Ciara on reception was lovely. Easter eggs for the kids that was wonderful. Room was nice, my side of the bed could do with a new mattress. Breakfast was very good. We will stay again

Stayed overnight with 3 friends in the outside lodge Had meals in Hotel. Dreadful weather so thankful the walkway to lodge was covered. Lodge warm and comfortvke plenty of hot water. Kettle and microwave and plenty of tea/coffee/sugar/milk supplies

This is an older hotel that has been kept reasonably maintained. Our room was a reasonably good size and comfortable. It didn't have a lot of amenities, but had what we needed.
