Disappointing Stay at a Supposedly Premium Hotel

Check-in was frustratingly slow, requiring both our IDs and manually filling out a poorly photocopied form with the same information—something no other hotel has ever asked of us. We booked a premium room, but it was anything but: thick dust on surfaces, dirty hair dryer, fingerprints on the wallpaper, and unwashed coffee mugs. The towels smelled unpleasant, and despite a “sterile” label, the toilet seat still had water spots.

The view? Awful. Ground floor with a view of scattered construction materials and junk. Reviews mention it’s “for future enjoyment,” but clearly nothing has improved for months.

Checkout went smoothly, but beware: there’s a €15 fee if you leave after 10 a.m., which is a bit much for a place that can’t manage basic cleanliness. Would not recommend.

Nice but noisy early mornings.

Nice place, friendly staff and good location. But can be very noisy early mornings as the building has a central staircase and you can hear all the doors opening and closing, people in the hallways and staff chatting.

Overall, very good.

The hotel is excellent, new and centrally located. Breakfast has been excellent. We had a four-bed room and it was very comfortable. On the negative side, we found our romm to have been half made the next morning, which was strange, as well that the parking was full despite well advertised, so that our car was parked on the street (no problem with this at all).

This hotel is worst of the worst. I booked and within 6 h I needed to cancel because I really serious family emergency that my my trip impossible. This hotel with all the insisted of Expedia and mine they didn't even respond on time after days and came out the day of booking without being able to cancel. I got charged and they put the note like NO Show. So fu... stupid. Not professional at all. I highly recommend to dont book this hotel.

Long waiting to check in. Too much paperwork despite on line check in (what is the point?) and clearly reception was understaffed. The young guy at the reception very polite but clearly overwhelmed.

Despite two communications with the hotel that we need a charger for our electric car we were told during check in that the use of charging point has been suspended. Had I knew that I would have stayed elsewhere but nobody bothered to inform us before hand. We had a long trip the following day and it was made much worse because we started the day with an empty battery. The whole trip was delayed as a result. By the way they do not have a charger just a normal plug in the garage- completely inadequate for car charging. Very misleading!

When I arrived, the room had spiderwebs and dust, as well as smelled like dust. the tap was broken and made the whole
Floor wet.
during my stay I also found out that the heating system doesn’t work.
The room was cold and I had to ask for a radiator.

I do want to point out the reception staff that were absolutely helpful

Hotel is located 10 minutes of walk from Dugonics square, in quiet area and offers everything you could ask for, from modern interior and perfect cleaniness to amazing staff and delicious breakfast. At least for us, no need to look further for our next stay in Szeged.

we wanted to check in then they said they dont find our reservation after 8 min she said she found it now because we booked it the same day what is not true because we booked it 10 days prior then we got a hole of room .... dark room bathroom desaster and the bed was not ready after 2 min we deside we dont want to stay at this hotel and we checked out again.
when we said we want the money back they said can not doit vecause not authorized for it....
not enough that this experience was a desaster plus they want to give the money back

Great Szeged stay

Wasn't sure where we were , when we first arrived. Only to realize we within 2 blks of the center of the city. The room exceeded my expectations. Spacious , quiet with a little balcony overlooking the back gardens and neighborhood. Super comfortable bed. Very delicious breakfast. Staff went out of their way to be helpful. Onsite parking a little tricky, but very convenient. Will definitely be back next trip to Szeged.

It is a really nice hotel with great interior design for the price. It is within 5 minutes walk to the Dóm square (city center) and there is also a tram station nearby. And we had a really-really big bed!

The statement from hotels.com indicated that my wife and I would be charged 317 euros for a three day stay. When we checked out 453 euros was charged on my credit card. Also the hotel does not accept American Express. Then the room is serviced only one day out of three. Finally the air conditioning was poor, but the weather cooled down at night so it was not needed in the evening.

It is a lovely hotel. Largest bed i've ever seen. I would probably stay there again. However, I recommended it to a friend and when they got there even though they'd booked long in advance there was no room for them. This would make me nervous to stay there again.

A small hotel with great service!

The staff is very helpful even though they spoke limited English. When we asked the staff at the reception to help us with booking at a spa and transfer to airport, they make sure they have information passed to the next staff on duty if they didn't meet us before they were off duty. They were reliable and helpful.

As for the room, strangely the light that hung directly over the bed could not be switched off entirely so it disturbed my sleep a bit. The basin and tap in the bathroom in the toilet were not placed in the right position somehow. You ended up getting the floor all wet after washing your face.

Overall, I still enjoy my stay in the hotel. The breakfast is good too.

Comfortable, modern and stylish

Stayed 3 nights in a top floor twin room, underneath the eaves. Room was comfortable and reasonably spacious. Bed in particular really comfortable with good memory foam mattress. Liked that the room had two dorma windows which could be opened to let in fresh air as rooms higher up can be stuffier. The hotel is new and as such is in great condition. I really like the science styling though can see it may not be to everyone's taste. Breakfast was pretty good, though relatively unchanging from day to day and the usual continental mix of cold meats and cheeses gets a bit tiresome. It's also completely self service. Wi-fi is free and good speed. Staff friendly but apart from checking in and out didn't have much interaction. All in all a good stay and I thoroughly recommend.

Positive Feeling in Szeged

Hotel Science is a relatively new hotel in Szeged. I tried it based on a recommendation from a good friend of mine.
The Single room was really small with not much room to move around - something similar to a downtown London hotel single room for example. A one person bed, TV on the wall, small wardrobe for a few shirts and a small bathroom, nothing else. If I had a larger suitcase I may not have been able to properly open it for example...
It felt throughout the hotel that it is new, some of the \"science\" styling is a bit surprising (e.g.: Matrix style decoration in the main staircase), but overall, I liked the interior design of it, it has a positive feeling. The breakfast itself was OK, the breakfast area with all the books around is kind of cool with the reception sharing the same space.
Parking costs an extra HUF 2000 per night in their garage, but you can also leave your car on the street which is safe - but you need to have a parking ticket in advance or use your phone if you have the right app.
Staff was nice, as a pleasant surprise, they didn't charge for the bottle of water which had a price tag next to it up in the room.
I will probably go back again, even though it's a little bit of a walk from the heart of the downtown area - but not too far - and it's on the opposite side of the city from my company's office.
It was a funny idea that my bedside table had a few random Hungarian books placed there for me to read.

Hade bokat ett familjerum som inte låg i hotellbyggnaden, utan man fick gå över gatan och i genom en stor brun trädörr som var helt anonym. Rummet hade helt ok storlek och sängarna va ok men rummet hade en väldigt unken fuktig lukt. Frukosten är helt ok, man sitter i lobbyn och utbudet är mindre men helt tillräckligt. Es war wirklich ein sehr sauberes und gemütliches Hotel ich würde immer wieder dieses Hotel besuchen das frühstücken war sehr gut . Wir haben eine Nacht dieses Hotel genutzt sogar unsere beiden Hunde durften die Nacht mit ins Hotel kann es wirklich nur empfehlen 👍👍👍
