The staff was above and beyond, genuinely connecting to guests. Ravi, manager of food and beverage, was attentive, knowledgeable and so warm and welcoming. The hotel was beautiful on the inside. Serving staff Hridoy, Kistan and Myint were always warm and helpful. However the location in the busy highway was a big deterrent. It was noisy with motorcycles and very dangerous to cross. The hotel felt cut off from the rest of the local community. There is a serious need for an overpass to be built. Perhaps several hotels and the golf course could cosponsor an overpass with the town of Tanah Rata. Again the hotel and staff were exceptional. The location is challenging

The hotel was excellent in every way, especially impressed with all the lovely staff. Waiters at steamboat dinner and breakfast were fantastic, so friendly but very professional , nothing was too much trouble. could not fault them in any way. Checkin/checkout staff lovely and welcoming. Concierge staff very helpful and welcoming. Hotel furnishings and atmosphere lovely. Enjoyed the games room and snooker table.

Light sleepers, beware. I could not sleep more than a couple of hours each of the two nights that I was there in early Jun recently.
The Resort sits right next to the only and heavily used highway through Cameron Highlands. Traffic noise had kept me awake past 3 am, and woke me again at 5 am.
Admittedly, it might have also been the acoustics and angle/facing of the room that I heard every motorcycle, car, van and truck passing by vividly, as if I was lying right on the pavement. The ear plugs the Resort provided in the room as standard equipment did not help at all.
The low rating is given mainly because the Resort failed to provide the sanctuary I expected, the home away from home where I could relax and be rejuvenated after the day's activities.
And for more than USD300 a night, the room also offered no satellite tv, cable channels, comfortable beddings, or even pleasant-smelling linens.
There are newer and better options in the vicinity, truly.
Perhaps it is more refreshing to enjoy the Resort's history, its old English charm, and the great service of its staff with say, a visit for high tea. Just stay one night for the experience, if you must.

The staff are all incredible and it's a gorgeous hotel. The only thing to note is that most of the rooms face the main road which was noisy even for us Londoners accustomed to using earplugs. We didn't ask to move since we only stayed two nights so maybe there are some quieter rooms - but it did look like they're all on the same side of the hotel.

Also the walking guides they provide were the highlight of our trip - such incredible knowledge as they take you through the jungle. It was worth staying at the hotel even if it was just for them

Elegant hotel with past grandeur

The hotel location in front of the golf club is excellent. The hotel is elegant and grand, and value for money. The staffs are very professional and friendly. The F&B is just okay. The breakfast was very mediocre; the hotpot at the Gonbei Restaurant was excellent ; the afternoon tea was okay and the dining room dinner was just average. Only the ice plant salad was exceptionally good. The hotel grounds were beautiful.
The room with the balcony was very specious and bright. TV was not working some of the time, with only a few channels.

We stayed at Cameron Highlands Resort for 3 nights starting 11 April, booking 6 rooms for our family. The staff, especially Kimie and Kee, were incredibly patient and helpful in accommodating our requests—twin beds, room preferences, and even upgrading us to a suite so my sister with mobility issues could stay close to us.

On our second day, my elder brother, who has Parkinson’s, suddenly lost consciousness due to the highland altitude. It was a terrifying moment. Kee responded swiftly and arranged an ambulance within 15 minutes, while Kimie offered to drive me to the hospital. Thankfully, after medical attention, my brother recovered well. Kimie stayed with us the entire time—his kindness and support truly touched us.

The resort itself is beautiful, with a charming British colonial design and a calm, welcoming vibe. All the staff were warm and friendly, making us feel completely at home.

We’re so grateful and will definitely return. This is not just a lovely resort—it’s a place with genuinely caring people. Thank you!

Lovely hotel and staff. The steamboat restaurant was a great experience, breakfast was very good but the main evening menu we found just ‘ok’. The location isn’t near any amenities but you can walk down to the town centre in 45 minutes. The hotel is on a very busy main road and the traffic is noisy at all times. Also the adjoining rooms don’t offer much privacy as you can hear your neighbour quite clearly.

Nice property in the spirit of English Tudor style architecture. Very helpful and accommodating staff.
Now we stayed in a front street facing 2 bedrooms suite and it is virtually impossible to sleep with the amount of noise coming from the road….you understand why they provide ear plugs as standard amenities. Separately we had Xmas eve dinner at the hotel and it was hugely disappointing on all fronts, be it for kids or adults. Serving a full plate of green salad with some chicken bits and a pre-made sauce makes no sense whatsoever, the sausage was one of those supermarket type with cheese inside and looked tasted very unappetizing. For adult, the stuffed turkey roulade was dry and tasted more than ordinary, the mash was indescriptible, and the veggies served were just steamed if not micro-waved. The poached apple fo dessert was torturously hard and hard to cut even after asking for a knife. For the positive, the bread was all right as well as the tomato soup…still hugely disappointing overall, especially when you pay the price.

Overall, definitely not a 5-star hotel. Maybe many years ago it would have been. The room was very cold (yes it can be cold in Cameron highlands, specially at night). Many stains on the sheets, maybe they were clean and had them from before, but still, many stains that disgust you a bit. On the couch there were also some stains. Also, can be very noisy at night, that’s why the give ear plugs. The breakfast, which was praised by many other reviews, was average at best. We had much better breakfast at 3-star properties in Malaysia. The staff were polite, but they really were trying to convince us to use their taxi service only. The receptionist was telling us we have to call the taxi driver to return back otherwise we will not find a taxi back, which was just a lie. Also he suggested us a taxi private tour which was paid per hour, and he didn’t tell us there is a minimum 3-hour duration for it. Result being, the taxi driver was taking his time, but when we said we re good to go he just rushed to get us at the end of the trip and told us minimum 3 hours and you pay. Overall the hotel was not bad, probably better than most options around, but definitely overpriced and not a 5-star property, in my opinion.

Worst \"5*\" I've ever stayed in

Average hotel and does not deserve to be rates 5*. The rooms lacked blackout curtains or blinds so you will be woken up as soon as the sun rises. There's also very bright street lights outside the hotel which will bleed through the net curtains.

Rooms are not noise proof so you will hear the motor bikes street recking throughout the night.

Excellent Olde-Worlde/Colonial hotel experience

Great/different hotel to stay at. Old style colonial hotel, with great service from all staff who really look after you.

Dining experiences all great and they have activities that you can do - some paid and one free. Food in the main dining room in the evening is excellent.

Hotel is all open plan in public areas and so can get cold sometimes - although I think we missed the fire-lighting.

Traffic noise in the bedroom the first (Friday) night we were there was bad - although seemed less of a problem the more nights we stayed. They thoughtfully provide earplugs on the bedside cabinet for this I think. Used them the first night only. Everybody seems to mention this unsurprisingly, but I'm not sure it would be better anywhere else on the main road, and wasn't a deal-breaker for the convenience and everything else.

This property gives an impression that it’s located on a golf course but it’s not, it’s across the street, and it’s quite a noisy street. Hotel rooms are spacious, very elegantly furnished and decorated, but these rooms have paper-this walls, I could hear every car passing by so as the next door guest’s snoring. Service is good and staff are amazing; I must mention couple of staff, Hirdoy and Hossain, they were very caring, respectful and friendly.

Wonderful hotel and staff, especially our waiter Bal who was very helpful. We loved the snooker table, and the room was great. Only issue was that it was noisy. Not the hotel’s fault as it was built before the road out front got busy. Avoid going on weekends as it’s super busy in the highlands and there’s one road in and out.

Incredible hotel with beautiful location.

What an incredible hotel this is!!
Everything about it was amazing. We loved the layout and the balcony overlooking the golf course and gardens.

The staff were attentive and so friendly and always happy to help.

The afternoon tea, steamboat and a la carte restaurant were delicious and to a high standard.

We were also grateful to the staff who helped organise some bespoke trips to see the sunset and do some hiking around the stunning cameron highlands and tea plantstions.

We would 100% recommend this place and would love to visit again!

This is an older hotel on a small hilly site. If you don't like stairs walking up to the hotel, then this may not be a hotel to stay since the stairs are very steep.
The breakfast is all you can eat but you have to order from a limited menu.
We had a two bedroom room which only one small bathroom with a single sink.

Thought to have a very relax family trip, but end up it was so noisy especially in night time. The resort , located too near to the main road and the noise at night whenever there was vehicle passing by, being lorry, cars or motorbikes, is really nightmare. A beautiful place to relax and chill out. Staff extremely accommodating. If you love nature and a cool climate, this is the place to be. Pianist to while away time while you read, have a drink or enjoy a beautiful afternoon tea.
Regarding meals it would have been nice to have a mix of local and western food on the dinner menu.

Mixed feelings

The hotel left me with a mixed feelings. There are some really good things and some real issues.

The common areas are all very nicely finished and there is a wow factor on entry.

The service from the staff varies from excellent to appalling and there seems to be nothing in between.

The furniture in the rooms are in good condition, the mattress comfy and linen clean and crisp. However, the bathroom requires some love, with the wooden skirtings rotted, fan sounds like a jet plane and toilets are stained. The water is rarely hot and showers are fresh but not unbearable. The other bug bear is no curtains, just privacy nets.

The main issue is access. The hotel is located on a busy road and from 7:30 am through to 10:30 pm the road is filled with cars and bikes. The noise from the road carries loud into the room and it can be a challenge to exit the premises as people don’t let you out. There is also very limited parking on site and you have to get creative.

The hotel is not particularly accessible for those with mobility restrictions as there are steep stairs to the entry and there are no elevators inside.

Obviously not a 5-stars hotel with 5-stars service

Before staying at Cameron Highlands Resort, I have much higher expectation, but actually, it just reaches a minimum standard. I stayed at the Signature Suite, which's the highest category. The bedroom is not quite spacious, but limited place. The most unacceptable part is that all rooms are facing to the main road, which makes very big noise in the evening when the motor vehicles are passing along the road. I don't really like the washroom which's small and humid.

The service is standard, but not awesome. I need to wait for additional two hours, even though I pay for money to upgrade my room. The bartender is so cool without smile.

If you ask me to stay one more night, I'd better to choose other options.

Beautiful mountain retreat

This resort is conveniently located in Tanah Rata, a short drive from all of Cameron Highlands popular attractions. The guest rooms are beautifully decorated and the grounds are impeccably maintained. The service was excellent — every request granted, the staff went above and beyond. I was not able to go on the tour of the grounds (offered free of charge to guests) but I did enjoy the Jim Thompson tea room. A little slice of English lux in SE Asia.

Spacious room in a beautiful heritage building. Very nice dining experience, including semi-buffet breakfast, afternoon tea and fine dining. Joined the Jim Thompson mystery trail, which was complimentary for in-house guests. This was an unforgettable experience that my first time to have a jungle walk! Quite challenging and not for beginners.

Hmm... ok but needs updating/upgrading

It was ok- The hotel is old, and so there was no lift access to upper floor, which was a problem for me as I have problems with my joints. The room was also too warm and there was only a ceiling fan in the living room, and no air conditioning. They need to install this pronto, as cameron highlands is not as cool as one may think!
The Hotel ads should point out the lack of lift access in particular!

Fabulous hotel ruined by constant traffic noise.

The hotel is beautiful in a colonial style way, with spacious, tastefully decorated common areas and rooms, and the service was attentive and professional, but, unfortunately, our stay was completely ruined by the terrible traffic noise throughout the night. The photos we saw on hotels.com are misleading as they give the impression that the hotel looks on to greenery, when, in fact, there is a busy main road separating it from the golf course, and traffic, including motorbikes, continues on this throughout the night. There is no soundproofing on the windows. The hotel provides its guests with earplugs as the only remedy! It really is a pity as we were very happy with our room and generous bathroom, with great amenities, but we wouldn't return, given that we has 4 sleepless nights instead of a peaceful retreat in what is a beautiful area. The breakfast is excellent.

Genteel cool comfortable stay.

Paint smell from recent renovation in #2. Very courteius staff. But wife says level of courteousness by one staff was dependent on race peofile of guest. More gushing enthusiasm if you are western guest.

Hotwater in #3 was not hot enough for a good shower.

We were there for two nights in Nov 19. Great hotel with excellent service from all staff from the receptionist to the restaurant waiters. Kudos to all of the staff at Cameron Highland Resort. In particular, would like to thank Mr Shukri who has demonstrated the highest standards of service. We will be back for sure.

I loved my pleasant stay at Cameron Highlands Resort! Staff were friendly and warm. It was nearing Christmas and decorations were setup. Lovely, just simply lovely.

Maybe the only downside about it was. Just the area it was in didn't have much going on. As it just Golf/Resort area. So it was pretty seculded. And CH doesn't have a Grab system. Just old school \"Call a cab at your front desk\" system.

Either than that. It was a once in a lifetime lovely hotel that if I was ever in the area, I would consider going back there! Especially near Christmas period.

*A Must: The Tea-time tea set was lovely! @ The Jim Thomson Lounge during 3pm-6pm is a must do.

Nice staycation for couples with an English touch

Rooms were comfortable, clean and romantic. Something that could be noted is the rooms are less soundproof. Staff are friendly and hospitable. Location is convenient to attractions and eateries as well with a 15 minutes drive.
