The checkin process is terrible.. The checkin time given was 2:30 PM. We reached the hotel by 3:30 PM.. We need to get a token to go to the reception desk.. There was a waiting time of about 50 mins just to reach the reception desk for checkin.
After so much wait, when reached checkin desk - they simply told - Room is not ready.. Howcome, when the checkin time in 2:30 PM, even at 4:30 PM the room is not ready. (We even paid 100% payment in advance)

The wait area is also jam-packed. When coming with the kids & infant - it super uncomfortable after a long travel.

Adding to that - it the feedback that Room is not ready, and we were asked to wait for another 30 mins.

Finally got the room key by around 5:30 PM. When we went to the room - no towels, toiletries were kept inside.

There is no direct calling facility to the room-service. We need to send a Whatsapp message, and they will revert..

Overall, for the size of the hotel & the fare they charge - the prompt service needs a lot of improvement.

Also, please improve the Breakfast dining area. No space to sit on Sunday morning due to crowd. Please make space for more people to eat peacefully, rather searching for tables.

The cups, bowls and plates in the apartment looked dusty. There was no hot water in 1 of the shared bathroom. The notice showed need to wait 30 minutes for hot water. It’s not sustainable if we keep the water running more than 30 minutes. The sliding glass door couldn’t be locked. The floor was dusty.

The hotel enjoys a great location, just a short walking distance from Kea Farm Market, which makes it convenient for morning strolls and easy access to local produce and snacks. The surrounding area is vibrant and lively, especially during the day, offering a true feel of the Cameron Highlands experience.

However, the cleanliness of the hotel left much to be desired. Upon check-in, we noticed that the mugs in our room had visible stains, which was quite disappointing. Even after housekeeping came the next day, the stained mugs were not replaced or cleaned, indicating a lack of attention to basic hygiene and room upkeep. For the price paid, we had hoped for a higher standard of cleanliness and service.

Overall, while the location is definitely a plus, the hotel needs to significantly improve its cleanliness and housekeeping standards to ensure a more comfortable and pleasant stay for guests.

The apartment is very old. The master bedroom has not hot water, the pillows are moldy inside and there are hairs under the blanket. No slippers in room. Other amenities are rusty and old. Dishes and cups are all dirty. Food is cheap but it just tastes ok, not very good. This is the first time I saw a hotel using ticket counter to check-in which made me feel like I was in a hospital waiting for my turn, no hospitality at all. At 5AM, there was some loud music waking my parents up, no sound proof at all. Cleanliness is the worst.

Great location with good scenery. Staff are both attentive and friendly. Place is a bit old, should consider cleaning the patio by the restaurant as it was dirty and slippery. We availed the breakfast and it was very good. I’ll recommend this place for anyone who considers it.

The property is older and has mould and bugs which are hard to ignore. We liked having the fridge, kettle and large space but the fridge was not cleaned well and I feared setting things down on the bottom. Our room was at the end of the building (quieter) but the wifi did not reach to connect. We had suggested drivers from the hotel cancel on us and little help from the front desk on options. The location is good for walking to certain destinations, but it also feels far at the same time. We would try another place next time.

Allocated rooms 1025 and 1026. Both are dirty with fungal rotten toilet door, fungal bath flooring, stained walls and fungus lodged underside wash basin. Shameless hotel with terrible housekeeping. Would avoid this hotel with extreme prejudice.

Sadly, this wasn't a property we enjoyed staying at. Our first apartment was very smelly. This was due to all damp. The second was a little better but still not up to standards of a 2 star property let alone 4 star. We didn't stay in the main block and I think that may have been better. The local tourists seemed very pleased with everything. Perhaps it's our British expectations. I hate leaving negative reviews but I would not recommend this hotel unless it has a serious clean and upgrade. Breakfast was poor. The pool was very basic.

I like its location, and the water dispenser outside the rooms which is environmentally friendly but not my room’s toilet ceiling which is mouldy and the shower head holder which is secured to the wall by means of a makeshift cardboard and plastic. The shower head is not working well too.

Terrible, rundown, dated hotel - will not return!

This has got to be one of the most dated hotels I’ve stayed in. The carpets were dirty and moldy, the curtains were stained and our bathroom smelled like smoke. We had to move rooms but both were just terrible. The staff were okay but not overly friendly, but I’m just in shock with the state of the property. I would absolutely never stay here again!

We requested to view the rooms before allocating to us. They show us the room and before we accept the room, they blocked the room and told us that it’s not available the next day onwards. The next day, we saw the room which we wanted was allocated to another tourist. My personal option was the rooms should be allocated based on first come first serve basics. The room we stayed required refurnishment.

The only saving grace for this hotel was the staff were generally polite and they tried their best to provide good service. Hotel is too old and dated, cleanliness need to improve especially toilet. The hotel is noisy with many children running about and making a lot of noise during the day and even at night, so it’s not suitable for couples. Food quality was not good . It is not easy to get grab here. No shuttle service either so you have to either walk or rent vehicle in Cameron Highland. Coaches departing for Singapore do not want to pick you up at this hotel and will request you to walk to the roadside below the hotel.

This hotel is very run down-we booked a Premium Deluxe room, and other than being large it didn’t meet basic standards. Everything was worn and very dusty. Walls were thin and neighbors noisy.
Plumbing also had issues-bathtub filled with water during shower -Maintenance could not fix. Also very loud knocking noise at all hours from the water pipes.
Carpet worn and dirty, given a larger room when I complained but no better. 2nd room was missing a desk lamp-we called and asked so many times as we needed the light to work at night - we were promised many times-it finally came on day 3!

The location is problematic as the market causes massive traffic jams both ways all day-coming back from either side took 1-2 hours each day when it should have been 15 minutes.

We tried to leave early it was so bad, but we’re told cancellations needed to be done 7 days in advance (Expedia said midnight of day before).

It is rare for me to write a bad review, but unfortunately in this case I have no choice but to be honest.

Come to Cameron Highlands but avoid this hotel.

Cameron Highlands is good value for family vacation, but avoid Copthorne Hotel. Poorly maintained with closed restaurants and bar. Staff is unwelcoming and not interested in assisting clients. The only pleasant surprise was the recreational staff (Nora) who took us on a very nice hike 2-hour straight from the hotel.

This hotel is a bit run down - the wall paper in corridor peels off - some stranger odour too.

A Malay family staying next door to our room was cooking (or preparing noodles) with some special dried fish ingredient they brought in, and the smell was awful.

However, the balcony view is fantastic.

Room is clean. Temperature is cool that i don't need to use fan. There is water heater for bath. Wifi is great.

Though local TV lone is not great, at least you can watch USB without problem.

No climate control or fan in the room, only windows but just 1 single frame for bug mesh, which worked with the cool mountain air but some ventilation or circulation system would have been good. The entire floor is wet.

I bought 2 nights with a standard room and breakfast.
This place is really creepy with another room door left and is dark inside

Terrible TV signal. Fuzzy screen and no TV contents. All local channels.

No daily housekeeping and changes of towel or make the bed.
Practically no service staff comes into the room for 3 days.

You get what you pay for

The only reason I stayed at Copthorne was because Cameron Highlands Resort and The Lakehouse were both sold out for our dates. Someone had commented earlier that their “2-3 bedroom apartments” are a lot worse than the individual hotel rooms so I changed my booking to get 2 “deluxe premiere rooms” and boy oh boy, they were anything but deluxe. The hotel seems to have opened in 2014 and I cant imagine how dirty it has become in just 8 years; the hallway carpet STINKS (it was so bad I had to keep my mask on when walking from room to elevator) and the carpet in the “upgraded” rooms is also just slightly better. The bathrooms need maintenance, there is poor lighting. I don’t know how anyone in their right mind is rating this place 10/10. The exterior is good and views are great but the interior has not been maintained since the place opened. To their credit, other than the 2 hotels I mentioned above, all other CH hotels have a 6-7 rating at best and are equally mediocre. At 50$ per night, this hotel is 4x cheaper than the top rated CH hotels so I guess you get what you pay for.

the \"good stuff\" - someone had mentioned in earlier reviews that rooms get hot at night and they only provide 1 pillow. We got 4 pillows and the AC worked fine. The staff at the check in counter was helpful. The bed itself is comfortable and sheets looked clean. If they work on maintenance, this could become a decent hotel

Very filthy sheets and quilts with multiple spots of mold on them. Shower curtain very moldy. Rust on shower curtain bridge. Carpets stained and outdated. Level of cleanliness very low to the extent that you feel very uncomfortable sleeping on the beds or using the toilet. Worst hotel I stayed at ever. Not worth the 13 MYR payed at property as tourism fees other than the the very pricey rate paid 155 USD.

Checked in after dinner, surprised to find no towels in our room to shower. Notified front desk twice about them and took a while for them to send it over. Had to raise multiple times on towel matter. All they could reply was “sorry for the inconvenience”. When towels came, no apologies were made just silently pass and towels and gone.

Bad experience with neighbor guest. Kids screaming and as hotel walls were rather thin couldn’t get a good sleep at night.
