We booked the Superior Room, 1 Queen Bed. We were so excited because the room has a private pation and pool. When we got there, we had the worst experience. First, the room smelled horrible. The furniture were all dirty you don’t even feel you want to sit on the chairs or the couch. The private pool was very shallow. It was half way filled. There were all bugs in it and the bottom was covered with sand. It seems like they haven’t maintained the area in such a long time.
We asked to change the room. But, the second room we saw had rhe same smell. Then, we were offered a third room. It smelled like it was sprayed with purfume. We asked to cancel the stay but they only agreed to refund the second night. Even though, we paid $310 for the first night, we did not stay. We preferred to take the loss rather than staying in this hotel.
It is rated as a 5 star hotel, but it really should be a 1 star.

Great experience staying in this hotel. Excellent location, very near to restaurants and shopping area. We were lucky to have a beautiful view with a large balcony in front of the beach and freeway.

My staff at Le Royal Hotel was excellent. Everyone is cheerful and helpful. The only thing I was not happy with was the internet. Internet service in Lebanon is terrible even though I paid for premium service. Don't bother paying for premium internet. It is not worth the frustration. Who knows why the Lebanese government can't get fiber optic service from one end of the country to the other. There is no excuse for such poor internet service.

changed room three times due to maintenance issues with each. smoking in the rooms and halls is big problem. Guests show no respect to hotel rules. staff is very accommodating and nice to guests. But nonetheless, the experience was not at all a five-star. Hotel must work hard on enforcing non-smoking rules in the hotel. unfortunately, it send conflicting messages to guests. on one hand the hotel is clearing none-smoking hotel, yet there are standing ash trays at each elevator entrance and on coffee tables in the lobby. I strongly suggest the hotel embarks on a non-smoking campaign enforceable by informing guests upon checking in on as to where smoking is allowed on the property. I would go as far as having housecleaning inform on smoking guests when a room is being smoked in for guest consultation and awareness.
I would still give them a second chance, because staff is super accommodating and very nice. Restaurant food quality and cleanliness is outstanding. they desire five star in this category for sure!

The check in process was smooth: requested a different room with private pool and was promptly accommodated.

I’ve staying in other 5-star hotels in top capitals, Paris, London, Rome and NYC, but frankly few match the service, the attention and the care that this hotel offers. Excellent room amenities, very clean and lots of care with the every day needs. Also great location, easy in and out and out of the downtown area, with less traffic and better access to the mountains. The Mediterraneen view is right off a large balcony, that would qualify as a patio in other hotels. I stayed at this hotel after it was recommended to me by close friends, who have also stayed in the finer places. I returned to it four years later to find the same high quality I experienced on my first visit, and I’ll return again. Only one weakness, the wifi is weak, worked ok in the main room, but very weak in the bathroom and on the balcony... Overall, the Royal gets my best rating.

The staff were lovely and the hotel very clean and comfy! My only thing is that breakfast was included in the room we booked via cheaptickets but we were told it wasn't so I thought maybe cheaptickets didn't advertise properly but at the time of the checkout I asked again and they said it was included but it was too late for breakfast by that time! The staff are courteous and professional and they apologized for the misinformation yet they didn't offer any refund discount or even tried to make up for THEIR mistake, and to me that speaks volume about the kind of customer service they provide! Won't visit again coz they didn't own up to their mistake and that's pretty bad enough.

Check in is a total rip off, I have been asked to pay $352 for the first two nights by email, and when I came to check in desk they asked me to pay $360 because they say that they have to convert the money back to Lebanese currency then exchange it again on the high hotel exchange rate which doesn’t make sense at all because I am already paying in dollars.

Had a wonderful stay at Le Royal. Staff was very helpful. We had an upgrade to a room with a private pool for 8 rooms. Which was fantastic as l was traveling with my mum aged 87. So it was convenient for me to have a swim while she had the comfort of her room and l was close by. I would definitely come back again.

I got to the hotel at 11 PM! After 2 hrs, noticed that the air conditioning unit did not work. The shower handle was broken! The staff was very responsive to my complaint and switched my room at 2 AM! For that kind of hotel, they should be checking these things before giving the room to people! After that, the stay was smooth!

Everything was great during our stay except for two things:
1- The noises outside our room in the hallway at a very early time of the morning (5:00am). People were going to their rooms with no regard at all to the time of the day it was or who heard them. Also management had given us a room adjacent to another room (a locked door separated us). No sound proofing walls helped in this regard.
2- Checkout took longer than at any hotel that we've ever been to. If you have a meeting or a plane to catch, make sure you checkout ahead of time because they had to manually and personally check the room so we were cleared to leave.

Stayed there for 10 days, this hotel has American and European style, great view very friendly staff and great security! Located in one of the best area, 25 minutes drive to ALhamra street, 20 min drive to our lady of Lebanon.
My only negative point is the food at Le Jardin, it made me sick! The food at Shahrayar was fantastic with great Lebanese Ambience!

I'm shocked at the low value, I had two rooms for 10 days and spent $8000 at the hotel. I could have overlooked some of the little things if the service wasn't so appalling. The list of wrongs is long. We were 3 people in a room with a separate bedroom and a pull out couch. The pull out couch was so uncomfortable we had to get a blow up mattress. Every day I would have to call for more. in spite of housekeeping taking out 4 towels every morning, they would only leave two clean ones. The 2nd room had dirty Kleenex under the bed when we checked in. Despite notifying housekeeping they didn't remove it for two days. The spa was disgusting. They don't clean the instruments between clients. Instead of a mani and a pedi for $40 all they did was change the polish on your fingers and PAINT OVER the existing polish on your feet. They bartender by the pool couldn't be bothered to wait on you. The light next to the bed didn't work, the remote had dead batteries. We did have a beautiful balcony that faced the Mediterranean but it only had one chair on it and in spite of asking for a second one we never got it. As soon as you enter the room there is a light by the door but there is no switch, no way of shutting it off without unscrewing the bulb. To top it all off, the day before we left the manager apologized and supposedly set a wake up call and a ride the the airport the next day for us. Guess what? No taxi, no wakeup call.

When we got to the hotel we had to wait 20 min to get our room. once we get there we see two staff (probably from maintenance) sitting on the couch watching TV. The room we paid for was suppose to be a sea view and the room we got was barely a partial sea view. It took the bell boy 45 min to get our luggages to the room. An hour after reaching the hotel, two other maintenance staff come to the room to fix the safe box that was apparently locked before our arrival. During this time, I was super thirsty and called the reception 4 times for them to send someone because our minibar was locked. This whole scenario happened during 2 hours since we reached the hotel. I then came down to the reception and asked to talk with the manager. The lady was very kind. However, instead of maybe upgrading us to a better room because of the whole disappointment, she wanted to downgrade us to a smaller room in which there's barely light entering. We denied her offer. She said she would contact us again in the next 5 min in case there was a late check out, and we haven't heard from her since.
