The room was a decent size & the evening meal was really nice but the internet connection was terrible as my phone didn’t connect for the whole 2 nights we stayed there. Also the bathroom didn’t have a holder for the shower head which was very disappointing so really struggled to have a proper shower

We stayed here as it was close to Pen y Fan and it was advertised as having a spa. We were not disappointed!
Good size pool, sauna and steam. Jacuzzi slightly let it down but the pool was lovely and warm, sun beds for lounging, we loved it. Excellent breakfast. Good spacious room and had a bath! Great value. Would stay again. The gym looked very good but didn’t use it.

Room was outdated, in need of refurbishment. Beds uncomfortable. The spa was in a state of dis repair, sharp edged tiles in the pool and hot tub area. Sauna was not working for 1 hour whilst we were there and no staff on hand for help.

Staff were polite.

Food was very good in the restaurant.

Definitely not worth the money that i paid.

Standard room 2 was simple but fine except for bathroom. Just a bath with no shower, had a shower head fitting on taps but nowhere to hang it and no shower curtain either - so simple to put in place. TV was a little small. Staff all lovely and food very good in bar and reasonable bar prices on drinks. Swimming pool fine but hot tub a little cool and some maintenance needed. Saunas dark with lights switched off and no way of customers turning them on. Room 2 comfortable but woken 6.15 by lorry making a delivery and engine running for 10 minutes

The rooms are comfortable with good ensuite facilities and who wouldn’t want to sit back and admire the grounds.

What we expected after reading the reviews.
We needed a place to stay for two days of hiking and the pool was a bonus. The jacuzzi isn’t warm enough and most of the jets don’t work.
Our room was old, a bit damp, extremely creaky noisy wobbly floor, especially in the bathroom. No bedside table on one side of the bed despite there being room. No wall mounted shower or curtain. We found it tricky to hang wet things without a shower or towel rail.
The bed was very comfortable though and it was very quiet.
Saying all that - the staff were lovely and the food was excellent. Pricey but it was worth it.
It’s an old building and needs a lot of work which would be very expensive so I understand why it’s run down. It could be so much better.
All in all we had a nice stay as the scenery and area was beautiful.

The Staff are always brilliant at The Nant Ddu Lodge. They are friendly, courteous and always willing to help.
We love coming here, this is where we come to chill and also catch up on our paperwork and prepare for when we go back home.
The room we had this time was a new one on us, but we loved it and hope we can stay in it again.

My partner and I had a fantastic stay here. The room was lovely and very warm and bed very comfortable. Breakfast was really good and very generous. Sited in the Beacons in its own grounds, location is just idilic.
Plenty of parking with easy access and a warm, friendly welcome on entering reception you do feel like you are privileged just being there.
Rooms are large, well appointed and clean.
Arriving just after lunch we had a very generous and delicious bar meal and drinks to tide us over to the evening meal booked.
Pool and spa facilities are again spotlessly clean, with free towels and robes for residents.
Evening meal options to suit all tastes were excellent, with a good selection of wines and quality beers served
all surprisingly reasonably priced.
Breakfast was part of the room price and again gave excellent selection self serve whilst awaiting you hot breakfast cooked to your preference.
As an older building, not everything is perfect and some areas could do with update and/or TLC but this in no way affected our enjoyment and stay.
Finally, thanks go to the entire staff who without exception made our stay special from start to finish.

It was very clean but a little worn around the edges and closer to the road than I would have thought but overall I'd definitely come back. Hot tub was great after hiking all day. Area is exceptionally beautiful. We liked the small town of Llandovery if you're looking for a cute place to eat. Staff was lovely. Bar and restaurant on site.

Our dinner at this hotel was very disappointing, and the room was tired and dirty. We wouldn’t recommend it and wouldn’t stay here again.

The hotel and restaurant had received high ratings on Expedia and Trip Advisor, but both were a big letdown. We stayed with our one-year-old and initially had a family room, but we opted for a quieter room at the back. The staff were friendly and helpful, but that was where the positives ended.

The room was basic and had questionable marks all over it. There were brown stains on the ironing board that wiped clean, but there were also marks on the curtains, lampshade, walls, and ceiling. The en-suite bathroom looked like it had been repaired by an amateur, with plaster and grout marks that were very visible. The sofa looked tired and dirty, and there were numerous dead spiders that hadn’t been cleaned or removed. Thankfully, the bedding was fresh and clean.

The restaurant and dinner were also below average. Wetherspoons would have been a better quality and value option. The total cost for two mains and one side was £56, which would be reasonable if the meals had been of a decent standard. The full lemon sole cost £30 and was small. It came with a grilled half lemon and spicy butter, but the butter wasn’t evenly spread on the fish. The side serving of veg was overpriced at £4.50 and consisted of two stale asparagus stalks, two slices of courgette, and the rest of hard carrot batons.

So took the wife away for a romantic weekend in an executive suite with Balcony.
The room was in need of a little TLC. Cracked tiles and broken shower door which had been replaced with a shower curtain. There was a lack of bins in the suite with just one small one in the living area and none in the bedroom or bathroom.
When we used the shower on Sunday morning we were unable to turn the temperature down. We reported it and the plumber arrived at around 10.00 just as we were going out for the day, when we arrived back at 5.00 to be told that the plumber had broken it and the water to the room had been turned off. We could stay and have a free meal but would have no working toilet etc. We obviously declined this and they did give a refund. At no point during the day did they bother to contact us to warn us. We ended up having a 3 hr drive home. With our first weekend away in tatters. Very poor customer service and no mention of compensation they even charged got the meal on Saturday.
The food is good.
Won’t be back or recommend it to anyone.

The value for money at this property is incredible - staff friendly, breakfast delicious and generous, rooms spacious, free access to gym and spa facilities, and an onsite restaurant and pub mean its very handy for food. I would definitely come back. However, the property is a bit run down, and the reception desk was abandoned most of the time - just go around to the pub and they'll help. Still exceptionally good value, and recommended.

The room was very tired, patches of paint missing from the walls, old furniture. The bathroom really needed redecorating, paint peeling from wood, old silicon missing and dark in colour. The spa was also tired with bits of tiles missing from the jacuzzi. No extra towels were available for spa usage. With all that, the Staff were extremely lovely and we had an ok stay. The room was clean. It was in a lovely setting and with some basic decorating this would be a super place.

Bonus spa hotel near PenYFan

Good location on the A470, near PenYFan. Spacious car park, great breakfast. Good spa for relaxing in, although some of the jets in the jacuzzi werent all working, needs looking at..!! Room was nice and cozy, TV, heater, shower was abit odd, it was not wall mounted, so couldnt have a shower, so had a bath. Friendly staff.

The Nant Ddu lodge is perfectly located on the Cambrian way road trip. The front of house area is new and every staff member i met were fantastic. The room was very dated and the bathroom needed a refit. Everything was clean but the bath looked grubby because of its age. Food was fantastic.

A Delightful Stay at Nant Ddu Lodge

My stay at Nant Ddu Lodge Hotel & Spa (pronounced ‘Nan-thee’) was truly memorable. The food was absolutely amazing—every meal was full of flavor and beautifully prepared. The hotel itself was comfortable, cozy, and peaceful, making it the perfect retreat. The spa was fully booked during my stay, but the staff went above and beyond to fit me in for a massage—and I’m so glad they did! It was just what I needed. What really stood out overall was the warmth and friendliness of the staff. Everyone I encountered was welcoming and genuinely helpful. It felt like a home away from home. Highly recommend for anyone looking to unwind in the beautiful Welsh countryside.

This is my 2nd stay atbthe hotel as Its great location for Bike Park Wales, which is about 10/15 minute drive. Overall good stay. It has been very hot 30 for the two days i was staying the hotel does not provide fans, and its advisable not to open windows due to being so close to a stream and there being loads of little flys.

Staff have been great extremely accomadating and went above. The bike store didnt have enough space for both my bikes, so one the first noght they let me keep it else where and when i got back on the 2nd day, the bike store was cleared out. Good breakfast. Mint for tea.

A good stay, could have been better

Location:
Great location for exploring the peaks, which was what we travelled for. 5 mins drive from the start of the main routes for hiking. Lots of parking at the hotel.

Room:
Was nice to have a separate living and sleeping space, bathroom was large with shower and bath. Furniture and decoration was a little dated/worn in places.
Despite there being radiators, the staff were unable to get the heating working in our room which was disappointing, as we had requested this (multiple times) after a long day of hiking in pouring rain and high winds.

Spa/gym:
Jacuzzi was pretty cold and the steam room was only working intermittently. Sauna was small but good. The gym is small, but fine for a little workout.

Food:
Breakfast was delicious, cooked and continental options.
We also had dinner there which was also delicious, steaks cooked beautifully. Good portion sizes. Service was great in the restaurant.

We were delighted with Nant Ddu. Hotel. Our room needed a little TLC, but the overall surroundings made up for any shortfalls. The pool andsurrounding areas we very clean and swimming was a joy. If I am honest, this place is tired and in need of a refresh. The restaurant and food served was bad, but the room and the pool area were poor and needed work. Whilst we had a pleasant stay, I'm not sure I would return if I was looking for a stay in the area unless the rooms and pool area has been refreshed (for example, the jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, loungers and changing room all need extensive work to get the ok again, and the rooms also need refreshing.

My room smelled a bit stall but open windows for a couple hours cured that. Hand shower wasn’t ideal and toilet required perseverance for a proper flush. Bar and restaurant staff were absolutely amazing with their professional conduct and friendliness.

So the room was very basic, which is okay, I wasn't expecting alot for the price I paid. However, the issue was mostly in the bathroom. Bath with shower attached, no curtains and..... No holder for the shower head. It meant I had to shower with one hand holding the shower head. Absolutely ridiculous 🙄.
Went to the restaurant for my evening meal, the food was nice but overpriced, especially considering the portion sizes. Also, my noodles were cold.

The room was well appointed, clean and attractive. The bathroom did not match the effort made in the bedroom. There was no standing shower, wear and tear, loose skirting, half a loo roll and just a generally underdeveloped appearance that felt low budget. The spa was underwhelming with a tepid and well damaged hot tub, missing about half the mosaicing tiles. Would not suggest as a spa hotel experience. That was the intention of our trip and we spent 25 mins in the spa area before leaving. Our experience of dining was similarly oxymoronic with some very well prepared, presented and tasty food but quite shocking service. In brief the room itself was quite nice, food was tasty but I would only stay again as a stop over but not as a get away type of experience.

Very Very tired Hotel, Bed was one of the worst I have ever slept in, Awful mattress very lumpy, broken slats, room was in need of a thoroughly good make over, The saving grace on this Hotel is the FOOD.

Good value, a little old fashioned.

This is quite an old establishment, probably a former coaching inn. As such, it is a little old-fashioned, in need of some modernisation, but I feel that this is reflected in the price, which was very good value and included a very nice breakfast.

It was best stay ever. We soaked in the pool, jacuzzi and sauna after the hike, then had amazing dinner. Nice service and delicious meals. Breakfast was also great 😃 car park included
