We stayed in a villa. The carpet was dirty, the shower was so small it was hard to turn around, and there was little water pressure until there was none at all, to which they moved us into two rooms in the main hotel. We must've been next to an AC unit or something because it sounded like military jets flying all night long, and the toilet stopped up. Staff was friendly, pool was nice, wouldn't recommend or return.

Had an enjoyable stay, however, for the total expenses of this resort you would expect property conditions to be a little nicer. We had multiple minor issues with our rooms bathroom, the walls are paper thin to the point you can clearly hear your neighboring guests conversations, and rooms lack some basic amenities like a microwave... aside from minor complaints, this property puts in effort where thry can, and we did enjoy our stay

We had a nice location in a 2-Bdrm premium villa that had a view of the bay. Disappointing kitchen supplies (not much silverware, bowls and pots for cooking. Basics like salt & pepper and sugars for coffee required a trek to the lobby. Front desk was not sufficiently staffed for arrivals. It tries to be a 5-star resort but falls short.

2.5 stars Very slow service. Staff very nice, but perhaps understaffed. Waited 1.5 hours for lunch at tiki bar. Took an incredibly long time to get a drink at the Tiki Bar during the day. The other outside bar was never opened during our week’ s stay. WiFi very spotty. Water turned off in resort for 2 hours. Again, staff was working hard, just not enough to run a busy resort well.

I paid for a room at the hotel. They said they \"upgraded\" the room to a villa. It was not an upgrade. Far walk to the hotel amenities. Parking was limited at the hotel. I paid for a hotel. To wake up in the morning and get a decent cup of coffee. The villa was dirty and old. I feel like i got scammed because they over sold the rooms.

The view from our water view king studio were spectacular! The room was extra large with everything we needed and more. The staff were wonderful. We would definitely come back. The only minor negative thing we experienced was Thursday night dance party at the outdoor bar near our room. The music had our room thumping when we were trying to get sleep.

We stayed 6 nights at Hawks Cay Resort in the Family Oasis with our two kids and overall enjoyed our stay. The resort felt like a 5-star property from arrival. Check-in was quick, the bellhop was helpful, and our room was clean, well-located near the pool, and ready early. The family atmosphere was wonderful; guests looked out for each other’s kids, which made us feel safe. We loved the lagoon, beach, and watching dolphins, though interaction wasn’t allowed.

We were aware the kids club and one pool were closed. Food and drinks on-site were expensive and sometimes sold out later in the day. We had a 20% discount that wasn’t applied automatically, which caused frustration but was eventually credited. The resort became crowded by the weekend, making pool service slow and café lines long.

Dining highlights: Angler & Ale was decent and convenient; Salt + Ash was disappointing, food arrived out of order, and portions/quality didn’t match the steep prices. Tiki bar staff were hardworking, and portions were family-friendly. Off-resort amenities are 15–20 min away; we enjoyed a day trip to Key West.

Overall, beautiful grounds, strong family vibe, and enjoyable daytime experiences, but high food costs, delays, and discount issues were drawbacks.

The villa was exceptionally clean, though not well equipped (lack of kitchen ware, not salt/pepper). We had difficulty with the WiFi the entire time we were there. The staff were wonderful and friendly. There was streaming services available in the individual room but not in the common area of our villa, not allowing for family movie night.

Where to start? The coffee maker was dirty when we arrived, there were lipstick stains all over the cups in the cupboard, and a cockroach in the bathroom. There was what looked like blood on the wall and on the bathroom door upstairs. The resort fee is supposed to cover things like bikes and the tennis courts, but there were no bikes and no one to ever help us with the tennis. The put put golf was in horrible shape. The pools shut down at dark (5:30pm), which made it impossible for us to actually use the pool when we returned from our daily adventures. The one day we used it, their grounds crew spent the entire time leaf blowing and trimming everything which was not enjoyable. The trash truck came at 6:30am. The front desk staff was amazing, but everyone else seemed incredibly bothered that we were even there. The price of food and coffee is insane. The resort store did not have anything budget friendly. This was the second time we have stayed here (was much better five years ago), and we will not be coming back again.

Room was good and resort itself was decent. Scored low because we ONLY booked there bc of family friendliness, kid pools and activities. There was ZERO indication, despite a bunch of online research and calls to the property, that the kid pool area was under construction and not usable at all. Also, we signed up to bring the kids to an art class. Paid the extra money and were then told that we had to stay there with the kids.
Feel bad for the staff bc they are obviously frsutrated having to deal with guests that feel hoodwinked.

Anyway...bottom line...do NOT visit w kids if you are planning on using the kid facilities without 100% confiming that they are done w construction and its open.

Hawks Cay - do better by being transparent.

The condition of the rooms, ie; air conditioning, humidity and heat where an ongoing issue, so much so the floors where wet everyday. The housekeeping staff was less than adequate. However on the upside Salt and Ash and Angler and Ale were great! I special shout out to the resturant staff, Johnny, Hendry and all the manangement were wonderful and selectively I would give 10 stars to each member!

Zero food if you don’t have reservations. They will tell you to go to the angler restaurant which is a little walk and then you will wait for your food like everyone else for 2hours plus. The hotel was nice for 2-3 days only we ended up cutting our trip short and going to key west because the hotel and food was an issue.

Our stay at Hawks Cay was a series of disappointments. Upon check-in, we found black mold near the AC vent and a heavy mold smell. It took 4 hours to be relocated. On day 3, our toilet flooded, and the hot water vanished—leaving my son shivering in the shower after only one minute of lukewarm water.
While maintenance fixed it once, the hot water failed again for the final two days. To top it off, checkout was a disaster. We were promised credits for resort and parking fees if we showed our Amex booking, but the staff member who made the promise disappeared. The replacement staff member denied the policy existed and was dismissive when I tried to show proof. No apology, no credit, and zero accountability. Very disappointing for a \"resort\" experience.

The mattresses were horribly uncomfortable and the ceiling fans all made clanking sounds. The heated main pool was fantastic. The views were pretty nice. The food was good but expensive, the coconut ice cream at Angler and Ale that is used for the banana split was the highlight of our trip! The lagoon was absolutely nothing special at all, felt like being near a pond. Overall it was pleasant but not worth the drive.

They are under new management; while the staff was very nice they were completely understaffed. Had to clear our own table; waited for drinks; front desk was understaffed; couldn’t get ahold of ai phone number they give you to get what was needed; most staff didn’t understand English to be able to ask for what you needed. Their computer system also combined our two reservations and we were luck to get the last room.

We stayed here as a last minute option after our airbnb was a scam. The shower was broken, the toilet barley flushed and the water ran all the time. There was always a line at least 8 people long at the front desk. When they cleaned the room they took all our towels and didn't leave us any so we had to go get them each time. Will not come back and would not recommend to anyone.

The staff was nice but they were extremely short staffed. While we were at their restaurant the system went down (twice at two different restaurants) and the food took over an hour to be served. We tried to enjoy the amenities and have fun despite these issues.
Would like to come back at a later time to hopefully have a better experience.
Lastly, a pile of dirty sheets and towels stayed in front of our door for the entire duration of our stay (2 nights).

We rented a villa, it was clean but a lot of things were broken and damaged. No outlets worked in the bedrooms to charge our phones. Bathroom had so much water damage, tiles popping up off floor and floor was bowing. Exhaust fan made crazy noises in bathroom downstairs. Kids kept getting locked in bathroom because doorknob was wonky. Sliding doors were messed up downstairs. Clean but not worth it for the price.

However could not beat backing up to the ocean where my son could fish all day. Lagoon was small and crowded, especially closer to weekend. Golf carts way overpriced to rent. The bikes were fun, but very hard to find more than one or two at a time.

Area was beautiful, staff was great, but felt hotel, food, amenities way overpriced for what it was. Had a great time, but villas and amenities need some work.

Since my room wasn't cleaned I spoke with the front desk at around 5:45 pm to see if I could get a couple of coffee creamers and two plastic coffee cups for the next morning. The desk attendant wrote everything down and stated she would have housekeeping bring them to my room. I waited until 10: 45 pm then went to bed. Never brought them to my room.

Never used spa and didn't have a pet. Interaction with staff was not good. On check in the receptionist did upgrade our room without our requesting it. It turns out there were very few guests. The staff did not make up our room on day 2 and said they needed 24 hours notice. The front desk folks agreed to replace the towels and coffee pods but never did. The room had a tv that only showed snow on the screen and the front desk said they would send up help to take care of it. The help arrived next morning 15 minutes prior to checkout time. When we checked out of the resort our invoice included a daily self parking $25 fee along with a plethora of other fees not previously known. Room was nice and the property was well taken care of but otherwise we would not recommend this resort

The hot water in the shower never worked, pillows were hard bed was lumpy with only 2 sheets and a very thin sheet like blanket. I am writing this review to express my disappointment with my recent stay at Hawks Cay Resort. There were multiple issues that left us feeling misled and taken advantage of.

First, our room was not cleaned for two days. When I raised the issue, I was told that housekeeping was “by request only” since it wasn’t busy season. At no point during check-in was this communicated to us. As a result, our coffee pods were never replenished, forcing us to purchase our own coffee. Even when the room was finally cleaned, the coffee was still not restocked.

Second, at checkout we were surprised with a $25/day parking fee for our rental car. When booking through Expedia, we were informed about the $55 resort fee, but at no time were we told there would be an additional parking charge. Not at booking, not at check-in. This feels deceptive and unacceptable.

Lastly, this trip was for my wife’s birthday. We saw the TV screen displaying birthdays and asked if her name could be added. We were told this had to be requested at the time of booking. How would a guest possibly know this in advance if it’s never mentioned? It felt like yet another missed opportunity to show even a basic level of hospitality.

Overall, the lack of communication, surprise fees, and disregard for guest experience reflect poorly on your resort. These issues should be addres

We thoroughly enjoyed our spa massages. The resort is spread out and we will keep the villas in mind for larger family vacations. Staff is generally trained well but frequently do not go the extra mile one expects to find at a luxury resort. Salt and Ash was a nice dining experience but not altogether unique. We actually discovered a hidden gem of a restaurant, off-property. The Angler and Ale restaurant was mixed, inconsistent; some of the food was hit or miss. Had to send back the yellow tail piccata because the fish smelled fishy and the piccata sauce was overcooked, stiff not a juicy lemon-butter caper sauce that it should have been. Some staff was friendly and helpful, others were aloof and rather militant in their approach to customer service. Also did not know the resort was kid-friendly and pet-friendly; it was overrun with kids during our stay. We were in the main hotel section and sound travels through the HVAC vents. With a lot of kids on site, somewhat annoying. I've heard better comments in the past than what we actually experienced. Change in owner/management maybe???

We recently stayed at this property and overall, the hotel itself is quite nice. The rooms were spacious and clean, which we appreciated, but the mattresses left much to be desired—you could actually feel the springs, which made sleeping a little uncomfortable.

The biggest disappointment, however, was the service at the poolside restaurant. On both days, our orders were either messed up or forgotten. One day, after waiting over an hour, we had to cancel because our food never arrived. For the price we paid to stay here, I really expected a much smoother experience.

The property has potential, but the service and attention to detail definitely need improvement.

My room had roaches. I reported it to the front desk, he wrote it down and never bothered to try to resolve this. Had a clogged toilet in my room the same day as the 1st roach incident and I had to call multiple times before toilet was unclogged. The worst for me though was when my 3 Year old had a tummy ache in the night. 3am in a strange place I called the front desk to see if i could get something to purchase(cause everything is sold for a hefty surcharge) and was told everything is closed.The front desk told me to have a good day while my child was screaming on the phone. I was shocked. Needless to say I will never be going back. I have NEVER been anywhere and wanted to be back home so quickly. I only stuck it out for my kiddies. I had to search my suitcases and my clothes in my garage. Dont want bugs in my house. I was really disappointed

This property was miss represented . I booked this very exspensive resort 1500.00 dollars for two nights by your description and pictures of the two bedroom villa for my family and was embarrassed .
To start, it was extremely dirty. Not maintained and all the funiture, lamps, etc were in disarray. The carpets had urine stains all over them. The curtains were stained and all the hardwear was rusted out. I can go on but I will save it for your representative. The pictures in your ad are not even close to what our unit looked like. We had unit 5048 for you recordes. There was garbage dumpsters outside our door that were overflowing and smelled like a dump. I should have taken more pictures to show you. All the funiture from our neighbors unit was on there patio and sat there all weekend including roleaway beds , matresses. It was more like visiting the projects. I expect to be compensated for this problem. This was more like 100.00 dollor a night property verses the 700.00 per night I payed. You embarrassed me in front of my entire family. Please fix this problem.

We were surprise that maintenance was not better. We had issues with the phone, the safe and the coffee maker. Each issues was a distraction from the relaxing time we were going for.

Great Family resort

We had issues with our room but the Manager Brad more than stepped up to the plate to resolve it and made our time there memorable and special in what it a fabulous family resort in the Keys. The resort is extremely person centred and friendly for family with an abundance of things to do.

$25 charge per day for parking (like we had an option) TV was not connected, took 2 days and 2 request to get connected. Room phone did not work, had to walk downstairs for any request. Hot water in our bathroom lavatory barely trickled. Bars did not carry non-alcoholic beer (I am a cancer patient and cannot drink regular beer) In general I would expect much more for the price
we paid.

We checked in at 4:00 PM and immediately noticed that the bathroom door lock was not working. It took approximately four hours for someone to address the issue, and the lock was not fixed until around 7:30 PM. At that time, we were informed that the bathroom door does not fully close.

Later that night, the bathroom door became completely stuck and locked. We called for service the next morning at 7:20 AM, but the issue was not resolved until around 9:30 AM. During that time, we were unable to use our own bathroom and had to use the bathroom in the next guest room.

As a result, we lost most of our first day—waiting for the initial repair and then dealing with the inconvenience of not having a working bathroom overnight. By the time the lock was first addressed around 7:30 PM, it was too late to enjoy amenities like the pool, which closes at sunset. This disrupted our stay and impacted our experience.

Ice machine hard to find or not working. Elevator not functioning properly or down. Food and drinks too expensive and over rated. Unexpected charges that weren’t warranted! Absolutely will not stay there again and will advise the same if anyone asks me
