Could have been worse, could have been better. Stayed in a 2 bedroom premium villa which was supposedly recently renovated. Still felt kind of run down. Booked for the dolphins and kids pool, but dolphins moved and kids pool was closed for construction of new water park. Hotel did not accommodate but offered kids activities you had to pay for (I guess they offered free bubbles).
It is a very pretty and scenic hotel. All staff was very friendly. Lagoon was awesome! Pools were legit too, clean and fun. If I came back, I think I’d just stay in the hotel rooms close to the pool instead of splurging on a “premium” villa.
Side note, it is a luxury hotel so all restaurants and activities are expensive so be prepared.

This is really neat and a unique find. The dinner at salt and ash we had was amazing!
We were upgraded to a villa and it was decent but the downstairs bathroom was locked and it needed some better cleaning in the bathrooms upstairs and towel racks!!! It wasn’t horrible, but not the best….
I didn’t like also that we couldn’t use cash on property and when we upgraded we had to then take a golf cart back and forth to the main building and we never could get singles or $5s to tip the golf cart drivers. A few of them had Zelle so we tipped that way or couldn’t at all :/
The Asian tiki hut had great sushi! Also the pools and lagoon were nice! And the coffee shop and chia pudding was good!
Dolphins are not on property right now -apparently they’re getting new ownership for the dolphin area.
I would come back:)

Let’s start by saying I gave them months in advance that we were coming and plans and they managed to not fulfill their part of the deal. I paid for extra amenities to be delivered to the room before we got there for my in-laws 52nd anniversary. they fixed it still charged me ice machine didn’t work neither the vending machine, which would’ve been cheaper to buy a soda out of the machine every once in a while, a good way to make sure you go to the bar and spend way more money the Customer Service in the café store unbelievably terrible the weight staff all, but one gentleman had no compassion or care didn’t understand the food we were ordering and please don’t expect to sit outside in the morning when others are outside eating and get service that’s a bad idea. Don’t sit in a table without a menu you won’t get service for some reason. They don’t put menus on the tables if you’re sitting there in the morning waiting for service when you do go to the front desk to express your concerns they act like they care about everything and do nothing about it, including all of the miscellaneous hidden charges that racked up my bill over $1200. You can’t leave an open tab at the Bar. You have to pay for each drink separately and they expect you to tip every time if you’re not a big wig if you don’t have money flowing out of your ears, don’t expect great bar service or table service near the bar. Do you have to complain to Simon the manager to get a little bit better service.

Knowledge is power. Please read the fine print. So many different companies book with/through them as well their direct site. Your amenities are determined through what company you use. You have to call to front desk to even get a skillet or pillow, blanket if needed. We didn't know and went to purchase a skillet. The nearest big box store like Walmart is like 60 miles away!

All in all a good place to stay for the family.

Grades:
-Pools: Family and adult pools were available throughout the day, in good condition, and well serviced by the nearby tiki bar. (Grade A)
-Service: Service in the overall resort depended on who you encountered. Some front desk members were quite helpful, others were low energy and doing the bare minimum. Same for restaurants. (Grade B)
-Amenities: Amenities were plentiful with pickleball, tennis, and basketball courts. Multiple pools. A re-vamped workout room and spa area. Soon to be kids water park area. (Grade A+)
-Lagoon: Lagoon for paddleboard, canoeing and swimming was not quite as picturesque as advertised. (Grade C)

The resort itself was fine. The staff was very busy, a bit overwhelmed and slow as a result. The townhouse we were put in was dirty, outdated, with a broken family room tv, sliding doors that are impossible to lock or broken and bedrooms so very small with furniture too large, it was impossible to change in the bedroom. The doors did not stay open and u could not stand in bathroom at the sink with door open. We asked for someone to come out and fix tv, no one came. Garbage outside that smelled and no one emptied. The townhome needs a paint job and a good cleaning at the very least. Definitely not our best stay at Hawks Cay.

The place is amazing.. the pool front room was on point. The only thing I disliked was for the amount of money spent on the room (which was over $310, and I stayed 5 days) they did not provide breakfast. All meals need to be purchased and they are not cheap by any means. Now I will say that the food was amazing though.

Great property with three pools and a SUPB friendly lagoon. GREAT restaurant on-property right next to the pool for dinner ($$$ but well worth it). Two other restaurants/cafes at family friendly prices on property as well. The fitness center is large and very well appointed with a mix of free weights and machines as well as cardio equipment. Far enough off US-1 that there isn’t a lot of noise. Rooms are generously sized and very clean, however you can tell it’s due for a refresh. Common areas have all been refreshed and are wonderful and the bed was very comfortable. We will definitely stay here again.

Room was not ready until 5 pm. Was \"upgraded\" from a king water view to villa with 2 queen beds. Same price to book either so not really an upgrade. Villa was nice but is a good ways away from the main resort so we had to either walk or call for pick up from golf cart. Cart drivers were excellent. On site dining was good. Saltwater lagoon was nice. There was a cup of cigarette butts on our porch which was gross. Villas are nice. But the rooms and bathrooms are tiny. Had a grewt time, but will probably stay somewhere else next time.

I would say pay attention to extra fees that the resort may hold on to, so you can plan for that, if needed. If you book through something like Expedia, call the resort ahead of time to make sure they are set with payments. There was some confusion with that as I was checking out. Other than that, highly recommend. I would definitely visit again!

This was a perfect family-friendly vacation spot! The kids loved the pool and the lagoon! The Family Oasis room was perfect for our family! A king sized bed for Mom and Dad and bunkbeds for the kids to have their own space. The room was clean and stocked with towels, toilet paper, and bathroom essentials. We enjoyed the sunset cruise and restaurants on site, but also loved being able to venture off the resort!

We had a fantastic stay at Hawks Cay, made even better by an unexpected upgrade to a villa. While the staff couldn't pinpoint exactly why the upgrade happened, it turned out to be the highlight of our trip.
* The Villa Experience:
Initially, I was concerned that staying in a villa would feel too disconnected from the main lagoon area. However, those worries disappeared the moment we arrived. Our unit was beachfront, offering incredible views and private wildlife sightings—we actually saw a ray jump and dolphins swimming by right behind our place. The villa itself was spotless and very well-maintained.
* Amenities and Location:
The resort’s location on Duck Key is perfect for exploring. It serves as an ideal middle ground, putting most major stops throughout the Middle and Lower Keys within a 30-minute drive. On-site, the lobby staff were incredibly welcoming, and the main resort amenities are top-notch.
* Dining:
The food options on-site were above average in quality. While the prices are a bit steep for what they are—as is typical for a resort—the convenience and flavor made it worth it for a few meals.
* The One Downside:
My only real complaint is the operating hours for the pools and hot tubs. They have a strict dusk closure policy (around 7:00 PM), which applies even to the 21 plus adult areas. Closing that early feels like a missed opportunity, as it cuts off the most relaxing and romantic part of the eve

Upon checking in we were placed in a room next the elevator and ice machine even though we requested to not be placed there. We upgraded for an additional cost. This caused a large billing error which upon calling the resort was resolved. Housekeeping was very inconsistent. Towels removed but not replaced. Coffee not replaced. One day no one showed up. Had to ask at desk for these things. Lacked paying attention to details such as no chairs outside sliding glass doors, bathtub had remnants of what was possibly a bath mat stuck to it, no place to hang towels or wet bathing suits besides one hook in bathroom, no lid on ice bucket ( was told they don’t have lids but other rooms did), bathroom door was impossible to close as it was a slider but did not have a bottom track or a deep enough indent to grab door so door just pushed out, bathroom door partially painted. One other thing was the parking. Most nights, we had to park in the third lot which is a construction lot. When an event is held, the attendees park in the same lots that the resort guests are paying to park in.
On a positive note, Andrea at the reception desk was very helpful as well as Andre by the pool. They deserve a
thank you. The outdoor area was beautiful and we had no problems getting a seat by the pool. Upgrades in the room were nice.

We had a very good stay at the Hawks Cay villa we stayed in. The main pool, lagoon, Sunset Village pool, and fitness center were great. Our first night there, we stopped in Angler & Ale after a long day of travel. The service was SLOW and the food was likely bland Sysco basic options; nothing special.

Our villa (Sunset Villas), was ok. The showers had mildewy curtains and translucent shower knobs that allowed for us to see through to lots of mildew. Also, the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash didn't seem to get refilled before us. Mattresses could use replacing. But overall, it was ok. The unit needs more wall hooks; travelers need places to hang towels, toiletry bags, hangers, etc.

We were pleasantly surprised to see that laundry was available in our villa, which we didn't know would be the case. 3 detergent packs were provided, which was nice.

If staying in the villas, I'd recommend you stop at a grocery store to purchase your own: coffee grounds, dishwasher pods, kitchen sponge, dish soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash/soap. Maybe additional laundry detergent if you plan to do a lot of laundry.

All in all, Hawks Cay is a great resort that allowed us to have the best of both the hotel and rental home experiences.

The gentleman at the adult pool was Andre was a very nice man as was the guy Kim who drove the cart . The drink prices were too expensive we finally went out and got our own drinks. 8-9 dollars for a beer is outrageous when you can buy your own for a dollar each. The property and views were great staff all very friendly. Also you pay a premium to stay there already then to be charged $25 a night to park is nuts. Also the surprise bill when you check out is a shocker for multiple taxes and resort fees is excessive when you’re already paying a premium. Parking hit and miss most nights we parked in the construction yard and had to walk for $25 a night😡

The staff members were responsive and helpful, but unfortunately the overall experience at the village was very disappointing—especially for a stay of just two nights.

The room had a strong humid smell, the sofa was worn out and dirty, and the kitchen was poorly equipped and not well supplied. The unit itself felt very old and outdated, and the window blinds were broken.

Overall, the condition of the property did not meet expectations at all.

Our villa was not clean upon arrival at 10pm. We had to ask for new sheets, every bed had dirty sheets. The main bathroom mirror was dirty from the prior people brushing their teeth, there was a dirty dried wash cloth hanging over the shower rod, the sink was also dirty in the master bath. We used the pull out couch and it was covered with crumbs and dirt. I’ve never been so disgusted with a rental. The fact we paid the amount we did only to be told that they couldn’t do anything is ridiculous. We will not be back.

The resort itself is beautiful and well-maintained, with great amenities and a relaxing atmosphere—but unfortunately, our experience was significantly impacted by ongoing service issues.

Housekeeping appeared to be severely understaffed. Over the course of several days, our room was not serviced despite repeated requests. Each time we reached out, we were assured that our room would be prioritized, but that never actually happened. It became frustrating having to continually follow up without seeing any results.

In addition, we had a broken bathroom door that went unrepaired for most of our stay. We reported it early on, but it wasn’t addressed until the final night, which made it more of an inconvenience than something that was ever truly resolved.

It wasn’t until we considered checking out early that we were finally able to speak with a manager. To his credit, he was professional, transparent, and genuinely apologetic. He acknowledged the issues and did what he could to make things right—but by that point, it was our last night, so the impact was limited.

Overall, while the property itself is very nice, the lack of consistent housekeeping and delayed maintenance response detracted from our experience. By the end of the stay, we were honestly ready to leave.

Avoid Angler and Ale restaurant, the food is terrible and the service also terrible, we wait one hour and 20 minutes for our drinks and 2 hours for our food. We had to return most of the dishes because of the terrible taste and presentation.
AVOID eating at this place at any cost.
Overall the hotel is great and the villas are very nice and comfortable.

They dont strive to serve. Our room had a sliding bathroom door that did not lock or remain closed. It took them 3 days to fix it. The last day, the entire floor smelled fish. They sprayed copious amounts of air freshener but it didnt help. Overall, its a nice place with great views and amenities but it doesnt justify the price tag. I'm sure a few years ago it did, but generally you just get the feeling that no one is trying to deliver a great guest experience.

We stayed in a villa -5041. We didn’t realize until we arrived that each villa is privately owned. We reserved a 2bdrm double queen and pullout “Premium” villa. The moment we walked in it was evident if this villa was premium, the normal villas must be terrible. It smelled super musty. It was old and dirty. There was a shelf broken in the fridge, the floors were disgusting, our feet were black from walking on it. The bathrooms were so small and dirty. The main bathroom in the bedroom with a view had an old wet and stiff towel hanging on the shower rod. There was dirt and/or mold in both shower walls and small stains on the pullout. The view was beautiful, the fridge was cold, and the ice machine in the freezer worked, although we had to dump and wash it as the ice was covered in particles of some sort. The fully equipped kitchen did have glasses cups, bowls, and plates as well as silverware. One glass bowl and 3 wine glasses. Super basic. The beds were comfortable and the furniture seemed somewhat new. All of the outlets were wobbly/loose and sparked when you plugged anything in. We spent very little time staying in the villa other than to sleep because of how gross it was. For over 1K per day and labeled as “premium” it was anything but.
The resort itself was pretty, but the pools/lagoon/hot-tub close at 730-8 (dark) instead of a standard 10-11 hotel even. So our kids couldn’t even swim after dinner. Not a lot to do after dark. Super disappointing stay overall.

The pool was ok. Super overcrowded since it was the only pool that <21 years old could go to. They are building a waterpark and removed the other pool in prep for that waterpark. They could do a better job cleaning the pool.
They had two different people playing music at the pool while we were there. We preferred the DJ over Will the guitar guy. DJ played a better variety of music and took requests from the kids/crowd.
Bingo at the pool was a nice touch.
All staff encountered were very professional and nice.
We stayed in a villa and it was 0.4 mile walk from the front door to the pool. We discovered the bike rental the first day and honestly, just kept them at our villa the whole week. We were probably supposed to return them but it was nice to have to get around the resort grounds. You’ll get lots of steps in otherwise! Not a bad thing.
Food at the restaurants within the resort was pretty good. Please do yourself a favor and dine at Salt and Ash and order the potatoes with fresh truffle shavings. Delicious!!

We had a good experience here overall. The lobby/pool/restaurant area was lovely. The food by the pool was great. The drinks were average. Service was wonderful! Our deduction of two stars comes from the stay within the unit itself. We had a 2 bedroom villa and were not crazy about the fact that there was only 1 full bathroom. Also, none of the windows have curtains and they have porch lights that do not turn off, so the lights shining through were very bright and disruptive to our sleep and our babies’ sleep. If this doesn’t bother you, it shouldn’t be an issue. But it was very uncomfortable for us. The hotel staff offered no suggestions, just apologized that this is how the fixture are. Also, the blankets and bedding are extremely thin. Again, if this doesn’t bother you, disregard. But it was uncomfortable for us. Overall a beautiful property with great onsite amenities for kids. I just expected more from the 2 bedroom villa for the price.

The service is terrible. It took a long time to get our meals. Also, the wait staff do not attend to you. We had to approach them to take our orders. Salt and Ash is the best though. Good service and great food.

resort staff didn't explain amenities upon checking in. wasn't aware of daily activities without passing by one area that had free water. the lagoon and pool were great. would recommend the pool be open later. Donny was a great staff member to receive suggestions from.

We stayed in a villa. The carpet was dirty, the shower was so small it was hard to turn around, and there was little water pressure until there was none at all, to which they moved us into two rooms in the main hotel. We must've been next to an AC unit or something because it sounded like military jets flying all night long, and the toilet stopped up. Staff was friendly, pool was nice, wouldn't recommend or return.

Had an enjoyable stay, however, for the total expenses of this resort you would expect property conditions to be a little nicer. We had multiple minor issues with our rooms bathroom, the walls are paper thin to the point you can clearly hear your neighboring guests conversations, and rooms lack some basic amenities like a microwave... aside from minor complaints, this property puts in effort where thry can, and we did enjoy our stay

We had a nice location in a 2-Bdrm premium villa that had a view of the bay. Disappointing kitchen supplies (not much silverware, bowls and pots for cooking. Basics like salt & pepper and sugars for coffee required a trek to the lobby. Front desk was not sufficiently staffed for arrivals. It tries to be a 5-star resort but falls short.

2.5 stars Very slow service. Staff very nice, but perhaps understaffed. Waited 1.5 hours for lunch at tiki bar. Took an incredibly long time to get a drink at the Tiki Bar during the day. The other outside bar was never opened during our week’ s stay. WiFi very spotty. Water turned off in resort for 2 hours. Again, staff was working hard, just not enough to run a busy resort well.

Beautiful resort. But housekeeping needs work. Went 2 days without housekeeping. Front desk was responsive to our needs and we spoke to management who appreciated feedback.

Would be great if the pools stayed open past dusk.

I paid for a room at the hotel. They said they \"upgraded\" the room to a villa. It was not an upgrade. Far walk to the hotel amenities. Parking was limited at the hotel. I paid for a hotel. To wake up in the morning and get a decent cup of coffee. The villa was dirty and old. I feel like i got scammed because they over sold the rooms.

The view from our water view king studio were spectacular! The room was extra large with everything we needed and more. The staff were wonderful. We would definitely come back. The only minor negative thing we experienced was Thursday night dance party at the outdoor bar near our room. The music had our room thumping when we were trying to get sleep.

We stayed 6 nights at Hawks Cay Resort in the Family Oasis with our two kids and overall enjoyed our stay. The resort felt like a 5-star property from arrival. Check-in was quick, the bellhop was helpful, and our room was clean, well-located near the pool, and ready early. The family atmosphere was wonderful; guests looked out for each other’s kids, which made us feel safe. We loved the lagoon, beach, and watching dolphins, though interaction wasn’t allowed.

We were aware the kids club and one pool were closed. Food and drinks on-site were expensive and sometimes sold out later in the day. We had a 20% discount that wasn’t applied automatically, which caused frustration but was eventually credited. The resort became crowded by the weekend, making pool service slow and café lines long.

Dining highlights: Angler & Ale was decent and convenient; Salt + Ash was disappointing, food arrived out of order, and portions/quality didn’t match the steep prices. Tiki bar staff were hardworking, and portions were family-friendly. Off-resort amenities are 15–20 min away; we enjoyed a day trip to Key West.

Overall, beautiful grounds, strong family vibe, and enjoyable daytime experiences, but high food costs, delays, and discount issues were drawbacks.

Room was nice, people were lovely and kind and resort beautiful. Sticker SHOCK at the resort fees (daily) parking fees (what can I do once I'm here?), the food and drink prices - outrageous. All of this and one of the main adult-only restaurant/bar wasn't even open and no service on the adult side of resort. Unfortunately final cost of stay precludes us from returning.
