Quiet peaceful location but still close to town

Just outside of Kingscote (probably 1 km), very peaceful location with visiting kangaroos. Comfortable rooms and one of the few we've stayed at that have microwave but importantly they provided some microwave dishes (the latter missing in many other facilities). Have recycling bin/facilities which is great to see. Good contact from manager who promptly addressed any queries.
Some issue with WIFI which only seemed to work in lounge room and was a rather weak signal and kept dropping out (but perhaps that's a bonus if your trying to relax).

The property was in a convenient location and was peaceful. We found the property in need of a good clean and the shower was ridiculously tiny. There was plenty of hot water but wasn’t enjoyable because of the shower size. The air conditioner remote was not working so we had no idea was it was set on. We never saw a single person while there for 3 nights. We wouldn’t stay again.

Stayed 3 nights, in a two bed room cottage , for touring the Island. It had a kitchen which was the main reason to stay there. The cottage was very quiet in a pleasant environment, and it did all what I just needed, good sleep, warm shower and cooking the meal, however it is fair, I think, to say that the place could be better maintained! As an example, the toilet was dirty and smelly as much as I ended up cleaning it with liquid soap, by myself, and the floor as well. Some windows did not lock well, though no one would come to the cottage. Some kitchen items could be replaced with new….

One would stay there, not for the comfort and the quality of the cottage, but convenience of it, for seeing the Island, so despite of the aged old cottage and not fabulous maintenance, if you need a kitchen, quiet and reasonably convenient place, one might well choose this place, I think.
We were there in March, so no need of heating and cooling, so I am not sure how it would have been if it was very cold or hot…

Basic, old fit out of stove, air con etc & quite cramped in bedrooms. Air con temperamental at first.
Need hooks for bath towels and a toilet seat that stays on .
Beds very clean & comfy.

OK for 2 night stay if not fussy & bring /cook own food.

Cabin is tired and the lounge appeared to be dirty. Check in was not done personally but via phone text….. “cabin is unlocked and key is on the table”.
From our cabin we had a great view of the rubbish bins, highlight was when a group of kangaroos visited the bins.
Without a car I would have considered it to be too far from the township to shop or dine out. No outside facilities like a BBQ or even a laundry. Not a place I would return to.

Regular visitors to KI (5 times per year) but first stay at this location. Perfectly positioned for access to any part of the island. Quiet, beautiful and peaceful setting. We will definitely stay here again.
The only negative thing is the size of the shower!!!! I have been in a telephone box larger than cabin 5 shower.
Overall- FANTASTIC

The ferry was cancelled 2 days in a row due to bad weather. We had paid for a 3-day stay. Management took all 3 days deposit as we had to cancel less than 24 hours before our due date. To forfeit 1 night is understandable but to take 3 days for no service is very unfair. These were circumstances beyond our control Advise others to book 1 night and then make a separate booking for subsequent nights

There was no hot water in the kitchen sink, the reverse cycle air conditioner was very noisy, and stuck in full fan speed, very difficult to sleep at night, with the heater on...When we arrived, we had no information about our cottage number, as it was not communicated to us by email or phone. We had to ask, outgoing customers, who told us to ring a specific number.

Our stay was comfortable. The owner is incredibly helpful and really lovely. The only thing is the description included a DVD player, but one wasn't available. Apart from that we enjoyed our time.

There was awful smells in the cabin. Ours smelled like sewage. Our travel companions smelled like burning/oil I assume from heater. Location was good, and beautiful place.

Perfect location! 5 mins from Kingscote. We liked the cosy vibe. Wasn’t very clean and didn’t have a hot water tap in the kitchen. Hot water in the shower didn’t last long either.

The advertised property shows wooden cabins. When I reached, I was disappointed to see container cabins. One of the alloted cabins was stinking like sewerage. This was pointed out to the manager and was assured that a plumber would attend the issue but this never happened while I was there for 4 days. Had to sleep with bathroom exhaust running with windows open for the whole duration of the stay.

Otherwise expansive property with open fields and close to Kingscote.

It was ok. The toilet started smelling though even with the vents switched on. We were at the end of a row of cabins. We were perhaps near the septic. So perhaps request bot for that cabin. It was cabin 10 I think.

Fridge and oven were only small. ( bar fridge) did food shopping for 4 nights and could fit much in fridge. Power kept tripping on christmas night so took forever to cook roast in small oven. tv very small and only 1 sofa to sit. Fine for 2 people but for 2 adults and 2 kids not a lot of room or comfortable seating.

Really bad smell from the drain in the bathroom. Not really that clean. Cups, plates etc needed a good clean before we used them. Bring a good fry pan with you. The place really needed a deep clean. Great place if you want to get away a few animals passing by!

Quiet cabins long walk from Kingscote.

Nice quiet cabins a short drive from the airport. We got a transfer from the airport but didn't have a car. It's a long walk-- 45 minutes-- to get to Kingscote. Wouldn't recommend for a long stay without a car but th cabins were nice and it would be a good place to relax for a few days. Manager was not on site when we arrived mid-afternoon but there was a sign to call with a phone number and she told us which cabin was set up for us. Easy in the end, but make sure you have a phone that can make local calls!

Kangaroo Island Cabins are in a quiet and private location. We were hosted in a nice cabin, a bit rustic but very clean with everything we needed. We were happy to be advised by the staff for restaurants in Kingscote. We definitely recommend the cabins for a stay on Kangaroo Island.

Great Cabins at a Good Price

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kangaroo Island Cabins. Very friendly greeting upon our arrival and we found the cabin very spacious, clean and the bed very comfortable. Fully equiped kitchen and free laundry facilities which we appreciated after 4 weeks travelling.

Clean, but TV so small and so far away was impossible to tell who was speaking. Shower was the smallest ever encounted. Curtain always in your face and hard to turn around. Toasted didn't work, replacements cord extremely short had to put toaster on a box so it could reach the power point. Similar problem with kettle. No electrical appliances tested and tagged. Fire extinguisher not checked since 2008. Fridge had a large build up of ice reducing space available, so much so the plastic door on freezer fell of on arrival.

PERFECT location to see the island & comfy base.

Such a breeze of a stay & we would have stayed longer if we could. The lady over the phone was very kind to facilitate our early check-in. What a time-saver! We were rushing on to a wedding after sight-seeing and touring.
The location is perfectly CENTRAL for touring Kangaroo Island. Island Beehive is less than 1 min away for scones, coffee, ice cream & honey shopping. A few km away from the turn-off to Bay of Shoals winery - gorgeous views to sip wine & buy some unusual varietals. Kingscote for fuel, food & shopping heading left out of the cabins just 2 mins drive away.
In the opposite direction just down the road is Kangaroo Island Brewery, Frog & Roses for the best pizza in a charming tearoom setting, Kangaroo Island Spirits for free sampling of liqueurs & wines, the turnoff for Pure Island Dairy for $4 tastings of sheep's cheese, olive oils & Ashbri produce (very worth it), and the way to Emu Bay, Seal Bay, Flinders Chase NP (a must see!), the Kelly Caves, Little Sahara & all the other tourist attractions to the west of the island.
The unit was well-equipped, so clean, HUGE bathroom with laundry sink, airy & bright, a Weber BBQ of your own on the porch where you can watch the kangaroos, wallabies and birds across the lawn in Cabin 4.
I wonder why everyone staying in Kingscote doesn't just stay in these reasonably-priced and centrally located cabins as really, there's not much in Kingscote, you have to see the rest of the Island! Stay here!

The two bedroom cabin was quite comfortable although there was only a two-seater couch to relax on. Our third guest had to sit on a dining chair - not so comfortable.
Everything is a little dated but that was reflected in the price so it was what we had anticipated.
Overall, quite comfortable for a two night stay.

Clean, comfortable cabin set in quiet grassy location a few kilometres from Kingscote. Small cabins do not have cooktop but staff will provide if asked. Shower in our cabin was not good- spray went everywhere! Staff friendly and helpful.

Kangaroo Island Holiday Cabins

Very easy to locate, short drive to Kingscote for shopping. KI has many amazing sights to see, I have visited KI many times and the beauty always grabs me when I return. KI food is divine, sheep's milk Halumi, Honey from the honey farm,
Marron Farm,KI Spirits Boutique distillery and more.....the beaches are accessible I went kayaking on a local river with friends it was wonderful next visit I might try kayaking in the ocean.
