A bit far from the city center. But is well connected by tram. There are nice pubs and restaurants nearby. The breakfast is very nice. The best part about this hostel is the super friendly staff who organise gamenights and movie nights. Probably the best hostel I have stayed in.

Place lives up to its name :)

This place is for budget conscious travellers who prefer a bit of privacy.
Easy to find and the check in process was easy and friendly. Room is nice but no aircon (summer) but there was a small window you could open but it did get a bit uncomfortably hot. The communal areas are good but it’s a bit weird opening your door to your room right in front of a room full of people eating at tables staring at you. The door slamming from everyone’s rooms absolutely does your head in, if soft closes were installed this place would have been awesome in my books.

The hostel is not clean at all, with unpleasant smells.
I booked a double room, the room is basic, in the morning the daylight comes in and there is no way to avoid that, so if you want to sleep a little more it is not possible.
The toilets and showers were shared with I don't know how many people and the cleanliness is mediocre too.

The location is not great either!

Very good for a couple of nights.

The hostel is near two major lines, you can go to the center of the city in15 minutes and the airport in 20 min.
There is a mini market downstairs that’s open 24/7.
Staff was nice and very diverse which made it a bit of a challenge communicating in English, French and even Swedish.
Other great idea was to place monitors so you can check screens throughout the hostel with schedules for transportation.
Breakfast was complementary for us but for 8€ you can skip that and buy something much better elsewhere.
What made our stay not so great, was the lack of consideration of other guests. By not cleaning after themselves when using the common kitchen and behave in a decent manner.
Or speaking way to loud after midnight in the common areas.

Hostel itself is a bit out of center so if you are tired during the day,you must travel approx.30 mins by tram back to hostel.Staff is very kind and helpful, i didn't stay in dorm rooms but double room with shared bedroom was good.you can use kitchen freely for cooking.toilets are probably smallest toilets i have seen,i hit my everywhere in toilets and showers.in double rooms floor,showers has transparent glasses,so for private showers you should go to other part of hostel.there is a book swap chance in hostel,so bring your book which you have finished to get a new one.activities are cool,there are game nights etc for socializing.but 8 euro breakfast seemed a bit expensive to me,if you want there is also supermarket downstairs,it works 24 hours.

Good for my one-night stop

A busy dormitory with lots of people, maybe not the cleanest nor most peaceful, but pretty much as good as could be expected from such. Served my need for one-night stop perfectly, and as an extra pleasure, there were pretty good shower and kitchen amenities, nice vintage-esque arcade and a bar, and happened to meet some friendly people there.

Had a great stay!

Loved this hostel! It’s easy to get there from the airport and it’s within walking distance to where Tuska festival is being held (the purpose of my trip). There a 24/7 supermarket right next to the hostel as well.
Room and bathroom were clean. Staff is really friendly. Had some trouble with the lock on my door and they were very helpful and quick to fix it.
The pillow on the bed could’ve been better but everything else was great! I would definitely stay here again!

Nice customer service, it was definitely cheap accommodation. I did not sleep well, the beds are \"flimsy\", not sturdy enough and they will shake when you get up and down from the upper bunk. It was quote hot in the room, no proper sound proof from outside. I just didn't sleep great hear but it was very cheap so not sure if I should expect more.

The shared female room, where I was staying it was clean, simply & comfortable.
The hostel is just a few steps away from the bus & tram station, which you can use for the Center. Very important is that the public bus for the airport runs from there too.
The only thing, that I found “bad” were the showers. There was not a door but only a bath curtain, which make you feel uncomfortable while moving.

Good budget option for staying in Helsinki

I recently stayed at the hostel and I have some mixed feelings about my experience. On the positive side, the hostel’s location is ideal for exploring the city, conveniently situated near major attractions and public transportation options are excellent ( direct bus to the airport). Additionally, the staff was friendly and helpful, check-in process was smooth.
However, there were some downsides to my stay. The cleanliness of the hostel did not meet my expectations. Although the room decor was simple, which I didn’t mind, there was a thick layer of dust on the floor and on the locker cabinet giving the impression the room had not been cleaned properly for some time. A broken locks on a few of the bathroom stall doors were a significant concern for privacy.
Overall, the hostel has great potential, thanks to its excellent location and wonderful staff. I would suggest improvements to be made in terms of cleanliness and maintenance, adding some curtains to bunkbeds for privacy. I would consider staying here again as it is good value for your money and location is very convenient.

Staff were very helpful and friendly and the place was cleaned regularly. Transport links were just outside the door, alongside a supermarket.
Lovely little coffee shop close by in the wooden house district and excellent drinks and Russian dumplings at Pikku-Vallila round the corner. Would definitely recommend!

That said, unfortunately the area surrounding the hostel does not have a lot of restaurants around, so you'd have to walk for about 15-20 mins to find an area that has a variety of restaurants.

This is a cheap place to stay, as the name implies. So I suppose it's not fair to expect too much. That said, it has a bit of a grungy feel to it, which made me uncomfortable. The bed was fine (clean), but whole place smelled a bit musty, and especially the bathroom, which is also the shower room (rows of toilet stalls on one side, shower stalls on the other). I enjoyed the breakfast, and it wasn't a bad price (by Finland prices). They do charge extra for a towel (3€ at the time of the review), so bring your own if you can. As their own pictures show, the beds do not have any curtains or other ways to make yourself not visible to others in the room. Each room (which can have lots of beds in it, depending on your booking) has a locked door that can only be opened from the outside by keycards belonging to those staying in the room, and that provides some sense of security and privacy. Lockers are available for storing valuables.
Overall, it was probably worth the cost. But I didn't enjoy the \"vibe\" of the place. If I'm back in Helsinki, I would see if I can find a cleaner, more appealing place to stay at.

It was fine, but seemed to be at capacity when I was there, so in a 16-bed dormitory that means people are coming in throughout the night and it might be hard to get a good night's sleep. There wasn't much space to sort out your stuff; but it was nice to get lockable cabinets (keycard).
You don't need to bring your own padlock, but you might want to bring a towel, ear plugs or slippers.
The kitchen is well equipped, but you might have to wait to use it. One sink for perhaps fifty people on that floor.

The property looked outdated, and dirty. Specially the restrooms. The kitchen was alright. The rooms were so small and no space between them. Every time they opened the door to the hostal rooms you could hear all the noise from outside. I think having the main area outside the rooms is not well planned. So if you want a good night sleep you won’t get it here. The showers were altogether as well so no privacy.

First time in Helsinki and it was a great time!
You might think the hostel is a bit outside of city center, but it's centered between various forms of public transportation that take you where you want to go in under 15 minutes, also in 30 minutes to the airport and 30 minutes to the ferries - plus you can walk downtown and it takes you a good 30 minute stroll, which I enjoyed a lot.
The staff is super helpful, espcially Hélène, Niina, Stefanie, Avnas, Tai and Suman were very kind, knew where I should go to make the most of my stay and made me feel right at home.
There is a well equipped kitchen, comfy lounge areas, a super market right aside the hostel and you will have no difficulty getting in touch with other backpackers from around the world.
The rooms are your basic hostel rooms, beds are quite good, pillows not too bulky and you even arrive to an already made bed for you - which is such a nice sight for the weary traveler!

Easy to get to from the Ferry terminal and to the airport bus. My room was clean and comfortable and the en-suite bathroom was clean with good pressure and hot water. The kitchen is very busy. To get into the city requires a tram but you can buy tickets from the reception.

Our stay was okay.
Upon arriving, the outside of the hostel had bums hanging out outside and the entrance/elevators smelled of cigarettes. Not a great first impression.
During our stay we noticed individuals hanging out in the common areas that also appeared homeless (not sure if they even stayed there or not? ) and we were even asked for money by one person...did not make us feel comfortable hanging in the common areas.
The walk to the nice part of town/sites is about 45 minutes through some sort of grungy areas.
The neighborhood behind the hostel is quaint and cute, though.
The staff were helpful and our room was clean, as were the facilities.
It's a budget hostel, so if that is what you are looking for this place is for you.
We feel we would prefer to pay a little extra to stay closer to the sites in a more comfortable hostel for a better Helsinki experience next time.

Bob made me feel very welcome and organised social events. The only issue I had with the room was that there was a fire exit light which was always turned on, located above the room door.

Overall, we had a great stay! Service at the reception is not consistent, you either get really good service and answers or really poor ones. The rooms are clean. It is also a little far from city centre but public transportation is closed (tram and buses) so it is really easy to go to the city centre.

For 29sgd a night, I not only had a bed and locker to myself, there was free breakfast every morning. There are occasional gatherings where people can talk over free beer and fries, and the staff are always eager to talk to new guests. There was a supermarket next door so it was easy to get food or drinks. Totally recommend for anybody looking for a cheap stay in Helsinki, no matter what kind of travel. It's omly a few tram stops away from the city centre so it was a really great place to stay in.

This is a great hostel in Helsinki. It's close to the tram and bus stops that takes you to the city center and the airport as well. The staff are very attentive and nice and had no problem at all. I met lovely people from different countries and could share a lot of experiences in the common area.
Breakfast is no big deal but is good enough before going to explore the city.
The only problem is that, given the type of accommodation with several people in one room, the soft earplugs they provide for free are not enough to reduce noise. I recommend using silicone earplugs.

It 's truly a cheap sleep place in Helsinki.

The location of this hostel is very good. It 's only a few hundred feet to the Tram ride where you can go to Helsinki and other places . The hostel is clean with 24 hrs reception/security. The basic breakfast also offer to guests each morning . We have our own room but have to share the bathroom with others. The clerks at front desk are very helpful, friendly, and very nice in helping guests to choose paces to go. You can buy day pass ticket at this desk too. There are no TV in the whole complex. Only places to eat (breakfast and dinner)and chat with others.
For just a few days in this hotel is okayed but for longer time such as weeks, I would not recommend this hostel to mature guests.
Yes, it's truly a cheap place to sleep at night in Helsinki since everything in Helsinki is so expensive .
