The suite was beautiful the moment you walk in and the view was amazing. The experience we had while staying was ok. There was allot of construction happening to the building. Also one of our guests room had a wet carpet. It was not noticeable until the room started to have a strong smell.
I did tell the staff but none could remove the carpet in the short stay while we were there.
Overall it was a ok experience. Beautiful location!

Damaged, deserted and awful.

We ended up checking in even though the state of the property was awful. Not only is the first building you see almost completely destroyed, the construction made it impossible to locate the check in area. I had a heck of time trying to find anyone to help me. The property looked deserted. The water was off for about 1.5 hours after we were able to check in. The AC started not working once we found our room and had partially unpacked. We ended up leaving and not staying. Unfortunately, this is not the Port Royal we used to go to 20+ years ago.

The pools were nice but our room was not very clean. There were roaches and other bugs. We were told they would come spray for bugs and never did.
The property was also under construction and there was a lot of construction noises. I did not realize this when I booked and was only informed when it was too late to cancel. I think that for the price, it was not worth the cost.

Extremely disappointed with the portrayal of the property on Expedia, versus the reality once we arrived. The hotel was hit by the hurricane several years ago and has not been refurnished. 1/3 of the property is uninhabitable with no roofing, exposed structural beams etc. Reception is a trailer. The remaining hotel is in dire need of repair. We left a day early. Hotel refused any sort of refund or compensation. Photos on Expedia are of pre-hurricane condition. Do not book!

Property is dirty. Elevators don't work. Place is run down. Pool area was full of cockroaches at night. Had to complain to get a fairly clean room and still had a huge cockroach in it. Just not a great place considering what they charge and how they advertise the place. It's just a rundown dying old place. Location is good on the ocean, staff was nice and tried to help us get a decent, clean room, but the place itself is just gross.

We only had a day and a 1/2 here but we throughly enjoyed it. The pool was awesome. We did go walk the beach so the location of this resort was terrific. The pizza from the food truck was yummy. We will definitely be returning to this resort.

Apparently this place was hit hard by the hurricane several years ago! It is in very bad shape! In fact, I’m concerned it should be condemned! There are huge cracks everywhere, the ceiling leaked in our room. The pictures on the internet are nothing like it looks now! The office is literally in a portable tent. Very disappointed!!!

The property is still suffering from the effects of Hurricane Harvey nearly five years ago. The property today does not look like the property shown in the pictures. The restaurant is in a makeshift tent, and so is the front desk. The staff at the pool were accommodating and friendly. The pool area was great and the room was spacious and clean. the resort needs a fresh coat of paint.

The pool and rooms are amazing. The hotel is still in disarray from Harvey 4 years prior. Apparently still chasing insurance monies through litigation. We had a huge sewage pipe break under our cluster of units and had to switch rooms the last night we were there. They were very attentive and communicated effectively. The restaurant used to be on the top floor of the main building but is now a temporary building attached to the check in center. They still hosted an excellent Easter brunch. The pool bar is adequate but lost power the 2nd day we were there and was closed. I have been a loyal Port Royal visitor for 30 years since i was a child. When they fianlly fully recover, the hotel will reestablish themselves as the premier Port Aransas resort. Until then, the pool and rooms are still amazing. Just prepare yourself for a semi-dilapidated looking hotel. My kids (2yrs and 6yrs old) had an amazing experience. We will always look forward to our visits to Port Royal.

They are still working to rebuild after Harvey. The pool was fun and terrific, our Condo was a 2 bedroom 2 bath, large balcony,the only complaint I had is that when you walked on the floor without socks your feet were black, and had a hard time regulating the shower temperature, the bed was great, kitchen wonderful ,washer and dryer very handy. The best experience was the pool, and the restaurant was not open so they delivered the food .

The staff at the property is amazing. They are all friendly and helpful. The food is also really good.
However the property itself is in need of a major upgrade. The rooms are clean, just outdated. The popcorn ceiling give it a 1980s feel. The beds are comfortable. The remotes to the TV do not work very well.
The outside of the property is in terrible shape. I do understand that it took a hit from Harvey but that needs to be said on the website. It looks like an old abandoned ghost ship. I did see a pile of boards towards the entrance so hopefully that is a sign of construction coming soon. The parking lot was extremely disgusting. At some point there was a mixture of water and car oil all over which made it difficult to walk. The elevators are terrible. In fact they had to switch our room because both elevators in one building were broken. The pool would’ve been nice but the tree bugs are on attack. For the price we paid we could’ve stayed at a much nicer condo. Despite the excellent staff we will not stay here again due to the deteriorating condition.

The resort’s pool and location on the beach are the positives. Resort is in a dire need of a redo and simply getting mold off the screens of windows would be a start. Not much improvement since before Hurricane Harvey. Roaches on the patio and one in bedroom were concerning, as well as the false eye lash still on the “clean” sheets. Management did call the next morning to come spray the unit and offered to change the sheets.

Really disappointed in our first (and last time) at this property. The people are nice, but the property is old (even pre hurricane), stairwells are filthy, walkways are filthy. Condo was old, deck was gross, paint peeling off everything. New staff confused and unable to keep up with pool side orders. I've left three messages to have a manager call me. We left early this was so unclean and no call back from management yet. The description on their website is mis leading, they say they are forth coming with the state of their property on social media - they are not. Spend your money elsewhere.

I realized the property had hurricane damage, however, the dishwasher and furniture was very outdated. We were unable to deadbolt the door as there was not an opening to do do this. The deck was pretty run down, the deck furniture old and dirty. The beds were comfortable. The pool area was beautiful!

Wonderful Girls Weekend Stay

We stayed in a condo on the 3rd floor for our girls weekend trip. We had such a great time and the accommodations were great for our group! We had a king bed, 2 twins and 2 roll away beds with plenty of room for the 6 of us. The pool is very well kept and maintained and easy walk to the beach! I only rate the cleanliness of the condo area at a 3 as there was trash left out on porches and not picked up causing the birds to get into with trash all over the place. It sat there for 2 days.

The suite of rooms that we rented was very spacious, clean, and convenient in every respect. It was the largest and the best one I've ever seen in any hotel or resort. It was basically a very nice two-bedroom, two-bathroom condo made available for short-term stay. The resort was just 300 yards or so from the beach. It had a decent-sized heated pool and a hot tub in the courtyard. There was also a huge unheated pool with a slide, but the water was too cold (we were there in December). I'm sure it would be just fine as late as early November. The property as a whole still showed the effects of a direct hit by a recent hurricane. I'm sure it will look much better in a few month, once the ongoing repairs have been completed.

This property has done a great job of getting back on its feet since the recent Hurricane Harvey. It’s hard to rate them, bc you hv to keep the hurricane in mind.

Good: Rooms and balconies are huge! They are packed with everything you need. Washer and dryer was great. DVD player was great as well when it rained. Staff was WONDERFUL! They gave kids free sand pail & shovel and we all got freeT-Shirts. You can tell the staff is really proud of their property and the progress they have done since the Hurricane.

Bad: They need blinds or curtains on bedroom windows facing the hallway. Lights from hall lit up our room all night.

Wonderful series of pools with family friendly amenities on the property and the suites. Our two bedroom suite was very clean, spacious and comfortable. Plus extra bonus that it was also dog friendly! Location was conveniently right on the beach. About a 10 min drive from town, but a couple restaurants (and swim up bar) on site make up for it. The hallways were still dirty and restaurants were temporary, but otherwise no disruptions in our stay from hurricane rebuilding.

Let me start off by saying my family came down to Port Aransas and it is a beautiful area. Very quiet and beautiful scenery. Beaches are clean and family friendly.

My family and I came down because my now wife and I just tied the knot and the whole day was perfect.

When we arrived at the Port Royal Ocean Resort, we were greeted by some incredible people. From the guard at the gate to the front desk. We arrived a little early and normally there is a wait to get into your room. Maybe it took 30 minutes but that was perfect because we took a tour around the grounds to see the incredible pool and the amenities that is offered there. I give it a 10+.

When we were checking in i had asked a young lady (my apologies for not remembering her name) if it was possible to create a congratulations sign upon our arrival from the wedding and she said no problem. Well, my family went out for a couple hours to tour the town and when we arrived back in our room, a bottle of champagne, a bouquet of flowers, fruit and a card was sitting right there saying \"from your family at Port Royal Ocean Resort. That was absolutely amazing hospitality at its finest.

My wife and I are now Port Royal guests for life.

I highly recommend staying there. You will not be disappointed.

Nice under cover parking and good amenities (pools, hot tubs, close to beach). No way to know what the unit looks like you rent. Ours had a nice kitchen (everything you need to cook) but furnishings (sofa, chairs etc) were very tired and needed updated. I would like to be able to view pictures of the unit before renting.

This resort, (I can't call it just lodging) is quite amazing. It has a large, unique and well designed pool area, to appeal to all ages. The lobby and gift shop were great. Staff was helpful and very accommodating. I realize these are condo units, and are individually decorated, but I am sure all units are well equipped. The one bedroom unit was LARGE, and had a king size bed, and ample room to walk around! The kitchen was supplied with all that you would need for a week or month long stay. The view from our balcony was spectacular. Due to the location, there is a walk to the ocean via a boardwalk, but that just added to the natural ambiance. I would stay here again, and again!

Very quiet except for the howling wind you could hear in the room. Rooms were nice and so was pool area. The parking garage was very dirty which could be seen from the pool area. Needs some upgrades for sure. Absolutely nothing around to walk to. Several miles to go and do anything off the resort. Overall not a bad stay. Can't change that the weather wasn't good. Was glad to have at least one heated pool and hot tubs for the kids and us to enjoy.

The resort was close to the beach and the pool area was very clean and beautiful. We changed our original room because of close by construction noise. The accomadations they put us in were much quieter. The ocean view was great. My only issue was general cleanliness. There were candy wrappers on the floor when we arrived and there was a build up of dust/dirt on items and in the corners of the floors. The door to the unit showed signs of dents and deep scratches. The fabric on one part of the sofa was torn. All in All I would stay here again..

Fire ants in the room, bed was comfy but the furniture in the living room needs updating, not comfortable. Brought a DVD and couldn't get it to play and the ice maker in the fridge kept melting and refreezing the ice so I couldn't use it. We had a lot of fun. Great for a family. Our condo was not clean. We have stayed there many times and never had this happen. It was as if it was not cleaned before we got there. There were no towels in the kitchen area, bathrooms were dirty. Plumbing was also poor in this unit. Facets would not stay on, showers did not drain well, it was very difficult to get hot water in master bath and kitchen.

Disappointed in our vacation.

This condo has not been updated in many years. It has been 13 years since we have been to this condo and it looked the exact same and not in a good way. There was a light right outside our bedroom that made it seem like daylight 24/7. It was obvious that they did not take cleanliness seriously by the bugs in the lobby and the horrid smell in the elevators. One of the attractions for this place was the huge pool, slides and swim up bar. We went to the swim up bar on Wednesday and Thursday night and we had a great friendly bartender. On Friday we had a horrible experience with the bartender. He was arrogant and rude. People like that should not be in the service industry at a resort. He made us not want to be there nor to purchase beverages from the establishment, and from the looks of the clientele they could have used the bar sales. They also only have the slides open until 5pm, so by the time we made it back to the resort we always missed it. We went during the week in October and for three nights paid $900 for a one bedroom. Also, when we got there I got charged another $50+ for fees that I had already paid at the time of booking. For the cleanliness, comfort, location and friendliness of the staff we are highly disappointed in our stay and will not be back until some major changes are made.

While we had a great time at the beach and in the awesome pool, I was disappointed with the cleanliness of the room and the outdated décor of the condo. For the price, I felt that the place could use some upkeep. I talked up the place so much to my parents, but felt bad that it wasn't as jazzy as I has led them to believe (they help me pay). But we do hope to come back, but perhaps to a different condo in the future.

Normally I do not review hotels, but thought this one definitely needed to have a review:

Good Points:
* Beautiful Views
* Nice employees
* Nice Pools
* Clean Rooms

Areas for Improvements:
* Bartender at pool bar was terrible (Worst drinks that I have ever had; settled on Rum and Diet Coke because you can't mess up that)
* Light outside bedroom window made the bedroom very light all night long (All they would have to do was put up room darkening blinds)
* Overall Hotel cleanliness definitely needed improvement (Public bathroons, hall ways, etc)

I would visit again, but just keep in mind, this is really a 2 or 3 start hotel, and for the prices, I would have expected a bit more.

Nice hotel on the beach with great pools.

We had a 2 bedroom and it was huge. There were enough hide away beds to fit at least 10 people. The kitchen was stocked with cooking supplies and utensils. The room had a washer and dryer. The balcony was a great size. The connecting pools were amazing and kid friendly. It was just a short walk over the dunes to the beach. We will definitely be returning.

Fair enough for a quick weekend

The room was clean, but the hotel is much older than portrayed in the ads and the pool areas are very crowded. Walking through the pool area felt more like a public beach than a resort with multiple boom boxes playing and smaller parties going on. The store is convenient and fair priced. The food was underwhelming and drinks are overpriced. Pools aren't designated non smoking which was surprising and somewhat displeasing. It's a solid weekend trip place off season but I don't think it would be my first choice.

Amenities make it worth it

Room was somewhat dated, smelled musty and trouble with both bathrooms. Patio was very dirty. Pools and staff are amazing!!!!! Beach access is fabulous!!!

Beautiful, convenient hotel! Terrible bed

as soon as my wife and I pulled up the security officer verified who I was and my reservation. The process was very simple and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and the place was perfect for a weekend getaway for my wife and i but also appeared to be very family friendly which I liked. Only negative was our uncomfortable bed!!

I was not impressed with the access to rooms, or the response to request, There was trash and dirty linens out side the room across the sidewalk for the entire weekend. drawing bugs ect. Restaurant had no staff, so recommended we drive somewhere else to eat.

Went to Port Royal resort for a 5 day/4 night get away. The pools and hot tubs are awesome! The beach is located just a short walk down a boardwalk away. Friendly staff and plenty of them. Room was clean, housekeeping daily.

Much more run down than my previous stay 3 years a

Room was out of date, large scratches on floor, large burner on stove did not work, dryer did not work. Many dishes were greasy in cabinet and had to re wash. Second bed was very uncomfortable but master bedroom was comfy. The place was very outdated in appearance- more than 25 years. Hotel did not look like great upkeep

Friends get away

We had a blast! The condo owner even provided card and board games. They also left a card with a frame for us. Great touches to a great vacation!

The pool area is amazing.

In the bedroom with twin beds these are in real bad conditions, I would throw them away. I didn't know that during our stay we had to make the beds every day.

cavanas expensive and close also when there is not customer
during the week will be better make free service , no people inside and the cost remain same

Not for adults to many kids.

Dining room 361 way to expensive my husband and I shrared dinner it still cost us $55. You need a reasonable buffet that caters to families. Mexican, seafood, pasta, hamburgers hot dogs so more people will use it.

Great family beach resort

Essentially a nice beach condo without having to buy it yourself. Full kitchen, washer/dryer. Great pools - the kids would have just stayed at the pool on the slides for 3 days straight.
Only downsides: not a family restaurant at the hotel, and area restaurants are expensive/long waits for large groups. Bring lots of groceries, probably your own laundry detergent and dishwashing soap, and then just stay.

Short vacation

We enjoyed a relaxing four night stay at Port Royal. We especially loved the swimming pools and swim-up bar. It was also just a short walk to the Gulf, but we preferred the pool. Everything was perfect in our apartment, except the bright hall light that lit up our bedroom every night. The room had blinds, but that didn't keep the light out. Other units might have curtains. Otherwise, everything was perfect.

Great pool and beach

We had a great time at the beach and the pool! The room was clean when we got there, but cleaning staff didn't show up at all one day and we had wet tools all over the floor. The restaurant service was terrible and expensive for the food we ordered.
