This place was amazing!!! I was in love with my room that had beautiful chimney in the center of the room, a private garden patio and amazing bathroom upstairs. The staff was very helpful, the place super aesthetic and unique decor, rooftop view, free mega delicious breakfast where it can be brought to tour room or any place in the property. A few minutes from the central park, and as a solo women travel felt safe even at night time, highly recommend👌

Delightful hotel in quiet location but within an easy 15 minute walk of the Central Park.
Arrived late but member of staff went out of his way to get us a drink and made us feel very welcome.
Room led direct onto the roof terrace where we enjoyed a delicious breakfast in the morning.

Terrible Service / Unoticed Hotel Cancellation
I went to a wedding on Antigua and it was like my 3rd stay on this Hotel. For my surprise the hotel cancelled my reservartion without even noticing me. Talked to the hotel staff and they didnt care at all. I will never going to stay there and reccomend anyone to make plans with them. At the the end i was statisfied with the expedia staff solving my problem and relocating me on another hotel.

This is a unique facility/ Each room has its own personality and beauty. The staff are always positive and helpful. If you spend more than a day or two, you will feel like family.

If you want to get away from car horns and party sounds, this is the place for you, quietly tucked away on aback alleyway. At the same time, it is a short walk to all the more active parts of festive Antigua.
The rooms have personality and warmth. The staff, despite some language difficulties, showed attentive care.
Food is scarce within the hotel. However, if you want exquisite dining in a stunning environment, walk down the street one half block to the Santo Domingo Hotel.
Cacao Boutique Hotel, unlike other larger hotels, isn't focused on making a dollar at every turn. They are fair.

Lovely hotel in a nice neighborhood/great location
I thoroughly recommend Cacao Boutique Hotel! The staff members are all very friendly, accomodating, and knowledgable. The hotel's location is terrific; it is quiet and a bit off the beaten path yet close to the main square. The rooms are lovely, spacious, clean, and well maintained. The breakfast is yummy! A delightful experience.

The mostly bilingual staff was friendly and helpful. A day into our stay, we learned from another guest that there was free bottled filtered water in the reception area refrigerator. You need to ask for glasses since there are none in the room. The room was spacious. The fabric arm chairs were faded but adequate. The windows could use some black-out curtains to allow sleeping beyond sunrise. There were approximately 8 breakfast options. The food was good. The service was slow to average.

I splurged a little. Usually I go for more budget accommodations. But, relatively speaking price-wise, this is budget by North American standards. And luxury by any any other standard. Huge, delicious bed. Beautifully decorated. Walk in closet. Even the water, decanted in a stoppered glass bottle. What a pleasure. Fantastic breakfast, too. And when I had to take an early bus to the airport, they gave me a grilled sandwich to go.

The hotel is old, the bed was in bad condition, the pillows were hard as rocks! all the furniture and accessories were totally outdated, the food choices for breakfast were just a few, they should not call themselves a boutique hotel, is a bed and breakfast with 3 stars at the most. I will never consider this hotel for another stay.

Impossible to find even with an address! Poor location, no visible signs to help guests find it, within a private dead end, I cannot emphasize how bad the location is and they could do a lot more to help.

Excellent staff and bedding in a beautiful setting
I had a very good experience here though there are a couple of negatives. The beds were very comfortable, the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, and the garden, while small is very nice. On the down side, the only windows faced the garden and a breakfast table was right outside one of the windows which means you have to close the shutters for any privacy (they have wooden shutters not curtains.) With the cool nighttime climate in Antigua this isn't too much of a problem but the room can get a little stuffy. The clerk got me a fan and it was a huge help but I'd like to have some fresh air in the room.
PROS: Spotlessly clean, plentiful hot water, strong water pressure in the shower, fantastic staff, free breakfast, excellent beds, strong WiFi for Guatemala.
CONS: a bit far from the town center though still quite walkable, not a good choice if you have to sleep with the windows open due to the lack of privacy.

Fantastic place. The rooms have the luxurious feel of the Camino Real with the layout of a more quint local hotel. Beautiful garden and fantastic location. Quiet block with easy parking. Will definitely return to this gem before the word gets out. The pictures don't do justice.

Little Slice of Paradise
After a hectic tour around the city, we came to the hotel, it was completely silent besides the birds and fountain where you walk & check in. Very calming. The rooms are all big with very good quality pillows, mattresses, etc. The service at the hotel is very personal, everyone that works there is more than friendly & helpful. The breakfast was awesome, you can eat it on the top floor of the center patio, looking at the volcano and listening to the birds. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

Relaxing, Quiet Stay on the Edge of Town.
We had a great stay in Cacao. The staff was super friendly and helped us out with everything that we needed. The only thing that I could say regarding out stay is that in our room, #3, the bathroom had a slight mold smell to it. The bathroom is decorated with false brick which should be treated and sealed for use with water. Other than that small issue, our stay was great.

A cozy boutique hotel
The hotel is tucked away in a side corner of Antigua. The staff was wonderful, particularly Oscar and Melita who both spoke excellent English and were willing to work with me to improve my Spanish. The hotel has six rooms, each with their own signature design. The breakfast was made to order and excellent. The only problem I had was with street noise, but I am very sensitive to that. I thought that it was a great stay and the staff went out of their way to make me feel at home.

I decided to spend a weekend in Antigua following a training in Guatemala. I was glad that I did because it was a nice place for relaxing, sightseeing and enjoying good food and interesting culture. I did not take in the volcano excursion, but maybe next time. The Cacao hotel was very nice and quiet. The service was great including a nice breakfast made to order. It is not far from the center of town where there are many tourists and sights to see. It is also close to the hotel/museum of Santo Domingo.

Home away from home
What a great home base for my travels in Guatemala. The staff helped me with anything I needed and were always friendly. If felt more like a homestay than a hotel so I felt more comfortable interacting with the staff and other guests. The room had quirks, but so does much of Antigua due to the UNESCO designation. Cacao works around it well though and had a very comfortable room for me and better than expected bathroom. I would go back to Cacao in a heartbeat and highly recommend it for travellers looking for something a little different but still very pleasant.

Comfortable cozzy hotel
Cacao is a cozzy hotel but is a good 15-20 min walk from city center and restaurants/shops. The room could have been cleaner. There were cobwebs above our bed and dead bugs on the tv stand. The bathroom also had a strange gutter smell from time to time. Overall it was comfortable with friendly staff but room needs a little attention.

The hotel staff could not have been more accommodating. The room was very comfortable and very clean. The staff went out of their way to assist us with our two breakfasts and calling for cabs for our travel. We also received assistance with re-booking a shuttle to the airport. Oscar, the front desk clerk, was as good as any USA five star hotel concierge.
