Coconut Bay was amazing! This quiet little resort set back off of Route 1 was perfect for my wife and I to relax and explore Key Largo. The amenities were excellent, the pool was clean and got lots of sun, and there were paddleboards and kayaks that could be signed out if you wanted to go out on the water.
Coffee and scones were offered each morning out of small food truck near the pool and were absolutely delicious. There are plenty of chairs down near the small boat launch and dock to enjoy the scones and coffee in the morning, or watch the sunset at night. I can't recommend this place enough, we look forward to coming back!

This property is beautiful! It is very well maintained and the staff is very friendly and helpful. My family enjoyed swimming in the outdoor swimming pool and using the kayaks on the Bay. Peg’s scones were amazing and a real treat to look forward to each morning! I would highly recommend this resort if you are staying in Key Largo!

The service was great. The rooms were very nice. However, we were next door to a family and they were a little loud with the opening and closing of cabinet doors. That being said we did not hear the two children. Go figure. lol The ocean views were absolutely stunning. We grilled, fished and just hung out. We will be back

There was a very strong chemical smell in both the office and our room and I had difficulty breathing in the room due to an allergy reaction. We spoke to Jonathan twice about this and he said there was no odor or scent. We spent several hours with the doors opened before I could stay indoors comfortably. His response the 2nd time was to tell us we should close the windows and doors because of mosquitoes. Also the plugs on both nightstands did not work. I expect better for a $400 a night stay.
Due to the chemical scent, I would not recommend staying here. It is unfortunate, because there are so many amazing things about this property that were overshadowed, not just by the scent but by the dismissal of my concern.

Terrible Experience – Would Not Recommend

My initial impression was awful. Upon arrival, the front desk lady went over a long list of strict rules, all of which had to be cleared by the owners first. I was shocked to find out that guests are not allowed at all. No pets are permitted either—yet the owner lives on-site with two huge dogs freely roaming the property.

There are no lights near the dock or beach at night, which feels unwelcoming and even unsafe. The whole atmosphere is more like a retirement community where you’re expected to wind down by 9 PM.

They also refused a late check-out and wouldn’t even allow us to stay on the premises after checking out. This was hands-down the worst experience I’ve had at a vacation rental. I absolutely do not recommend it and will never return.

Amazing resort, fantastic location

Rooms are updated (room 23), VERY clean and have all amenities.
The small touches like morning coffee/tea and fresh backed scones are a nice touch from the very welcoming staff.

This place is great for families, it’s quiet and safe. This booking was a last minute change because I forgot to book a night between stays. I cancelled our original hotel and decided to splurge on this property. Sometimes fate intervenes and you wind up finding a gem. WE LOVED LOVED IT! Our bungalow was private, spacious and close to the beach , which was never over populated with towel saved loungers. The Christmas themed breakfast area which showcased Pegs scones and coffee was the cherry on top. The pool is large and never over populated. We will return. Every couple of days my husband and I still find ourselves saying, “I could go for one of Pegs fresh scones!!!”

First and most important, free scones! And definitely the best ones I've ever had. The staff are uber friendly and accommodating. The property is smaller, but thats what we wanted. Its great for families, but also great if you just want a nice quiet place. They offered free kayaks and paddle boards. Definitely will stay here in the future.

The facility was tucked away in a beautifully landscaped area with native plants, shrubs, trees, flowers. It wasn’t very visible from the road. The cabin we had was completely remodeled and very comfortable. The hosts were very helpful, engaging and genuine. Thought this stay was brilliant but I thought that all though coffee facilities were provided. There was no coffee or tea. The scones in the morning was the best. But you had to go out for provisions. We stayed 2 nights and didn’t really want to go shopping for hot drinks. But the morning facilities were great. It was a fabulous get away . All staff was amazing, we were late checking in and Jonathan was so helpful. Peg's scones are to die for and the property is immaculate. The little cottages/rooms are so charming and well decorated. TERRIBLE !!! DRUNK STAFF! My mother and I were approached at 11:30pm by a drunk staff members that claims to be “the owner” if so, very unprofessional. He was yelling at us because I had my ESA in the car after telling him I will leave with the ESA he kept on yelling. He was very intoxicated, slurring his words and making us feel extremely uncomfortable.After leaving that night, the next morning the staff called us a liar and said we stayed the night with the ESA after “the owner”, saw us leaving himself. They were extremely rude, and disrespectful. The hotel also only allows english speaking guest, being very racist against other nationalities.

This place was amazing. Tropical setting with lovely landscaping and added touches such as tucked-away spaces for privacy. Free use of kayaks is available. Our room was on the small side but perfectly functional for our one night stay.

I really enjoyed my stay here at Coconut Bay Resort, i stayed on a Friday and a Sunday and on Sat. drove down to key west, they let me keep an extra car at there place when i drove down which was very nice! i also touched a manatee while swimming in there Bay, and used there Kayaks, i really enjoyed my ice coffee and scones in the morning as well! I would Def com back and visit!

We enjoyed every minute of our stay at this lovely property. Vintage feel with updated facilities. Gorgeous landscaping and a beautiful beach for relaxing or watching the sunset. We enjoyed the use of the pool, kayaks and pedal boat. Peg’s breakfast scones were amazing and all of the staff were friendly and helpful in every way. We requested a slightly later checkout time due to the parade that was affecting traffic on July 4th and they were wonderful about accommodating us. The resort is conveniently located to shopping and restaurants. We would definitely go back and stay again!

Can't wait to go back! The only thing missing, other than daily maid service (understandable w/covid) is ice. I get it's the keys. Fishing or not, everyone has coolers! I simply wanted ice in a glass so I could kick back, and enjoy a cold beverage under the palm trees. The property is absolutly charming. Beds plush and comfy.BBQs are great. Scones and coffee delicous. Just make sure you hit Publix or Winn Dixie and bring your own ice.

Our most favourite place of the holiday. This was our 3rd hotel of the Florida keys road trip and certainly the best. Great value for money. Such comfy beds a real friendly family feel and so welcoming. We are coming back and just going to stay here the whole time. It’s a slice of Paradise and best thing of all a manatee hot spot !!! The morning coffee and scones are a lovely touch and something we really looked forward to. The beach is small and perfect and you also get complementary use of the paddle boards and kayaks on site.

The resort was very nice and clean. Great little beach and pier. This trip was originally purchased for my wife and I to get away for the weekend. Unfortunately, my in-laws were unable to watch our two young children and we had to bring them with us. The reservation appeared for 2 adults, but when I signed in, I put 2 adults and 2 children. The room had a king size bed and was very cozy. Still, our 7 and 11 year old have slept in our king size bed at home, so I figured we would make it work. An hour or so after checking in, the lady who checked us in came over with another gentleman and basically told us that the 4 of us could not stay in the room as the room was designated for only 2 people. I told them that the kids are small and that it wouldn't be a problem. After several minutes of discussion, we decided that we would leave. I asked the man about getting a refund on the room. He told me he would refund the money if he could sell the room. I was very polite, considering the situation, and agreed. I was happy to see this morning that they credited the full amount that we had paid. I least he was honest and kept his word. I really liked the resort, but it was probably for the best. The place is nice if you're older and want a quiet getaway. I don't know how it would have turned out with the kids had we stayed. Anyways, I am satisfied that we were able to get our money back.

Beautiful tropical landscaping covers the entire property, impeccably clean rooms, quiet surroundings, quiet neighbors, felt safe and secure, charming little property, vibrant and fascinating marine life right at the beach and docks, picturesque views of the bay with highly visible sunsets, calm bayside waters, peaceful, fresh coffee and an assortment of Nydia's homemade scones every morning in the office, professional, friendly staff, no stress, total relaxation, walk across the street to one of the highest rated seafood restaurants in Key Largo. Will definitely be back again!

quiet, beautiful, small and quaint property -
The cottages or suites seem remodeled - new and clean. But it still feels like classic florida keys.
Kayaking right off the beach was wonderful - and comes with your stay.

Best Tropical Lodging for Family or Friends

Coconut Bay Resort-Key Largo is truly a hidden gem. The tropical foliage, island-themed individual cottages and it's own beach for kayaking (not swimmable) is THE place for a relaxing & fun vacation. Free Wi-Fi and the daily homemade scones was a yummy treat, too!
