We did not wind up staying. Required multiple calls to get someone to check us in. Required re-key because the door would not open and almost had to have it done a third time. The TV only got the Smithsonian channel and could not be changed. We could not get any hot water after running the water for 10 minutes. Finished our trip rather than waiting for the next day.

The temperature was fine. Noticed no hot water at the sink but fine in the shower. Used both the microwave and the mini refrigerator. Appreciated both and the table to eat at. A room with twin beds for a solo traveler would save the housekeeper having to remake a 3/4 unused king bed! The Pilgrim Inn is my \"home-away-from-home twice a year!

I can't even begin to describe how horrible this place is. Absolutely the worst cheap, crap motel (dump) I've ever stayed at. No staff to be found at check-in or any other time. The stink in the room was atrocious, the toilet didn't flush, the hot water took a solid 10 mins to work, the sink stunk when the water was on, the hair dryer blew cool air only. No help from staff when asking for another pillow. In fact, we stayed 2 nights and didn't see a sole who worked there. The bed was mushy, sheets discolored and had stains on them. We were totally grossed out by this place. Should be knocked down and rebuilt.

Worse the Bates Hotel! No humans on premises

There are no human beings at the hotel!! They don't interact with you. You go to the counter, you make a phone call. Somebody gets on the line and checks you in. We had several questions because the TV didn't work. There was no remote and the AC wasn't working and there was no conditioner in the tub.. we called 7 times And nobody answer it, They eventually just blocked my number so they wouldn't have to hear me calling anymore.. unbelievable... so nobody should go to this place.

Gone Downhill

I've stayed, off and on, at this motel for decades. But both the service and accommodations have gone downhill and are in need of a major overhaul. There was no one on site to check me in; it was handled remotely by putting my credit card in a machine while talking to someone on the phone. Room was in a state of disrepair. Tub was old and dirty. Bathroom door opened into the toilet. Sink did not drain properly and faucet did not provide hot water. Electrical items were not plugged in. Pool was closed and looked like a construction site. No maid service. No breakfast. Parking lot was uneven and in need of paving. For all of the above reasons, I didn't feel totally safe. I did speak to an onsite caretaker who was very nice; none of this is her fault.

Sheets on bed were dirty. Iron provided had something melted all over it. Shower had no water pressure... unable to properly rinse (short) hair. Check-in is done via phone in lobby; was okay once got used to this and no one actually being present for service.
When arriving housekeeping staff stood outside a room, smoking so that the smell was unavoidable when entering/exiting the lobby or any of the rooms of that building.

Worst hotel I have been in in my 61 years.

No one in lobby to check you in and out, you do it all yourself over the phone, lobby locked in the morning. Ice machine did not work, no vending machines, no phone in the room, no clock in the room, soap/shampoo/conditioner unit in shower was empty, no table in the room, for chairs there had been two metal bar type stools. I would only give the hotel a 1 because at least it didn't small. Would NEVER stay there again or recommend it.

I had just sold my childhood home in Lee. I had been in Lee for nearly 8 weeks, cleaning out many generations of living, while staying in my childhood home. Moving is not an easy task. I just wanted a break from constant cleaning and packing up. I decided a night out in a clean, warm motel room would be a nice change, As soon as I entered the door, I was hit with a sour scent in the room. Maybe it was cleaning solution, but it was not pleasant. I went there hoping to pig out on TV and get caught up with my work via the Internet. I could not get the TV to work for me and there were no directions on how to set it up. Also, I couldn't get on the Internet. You had no soap or shampoo in the dispensers that you have over the shower head. The toilet seat is very low to the floor, which is tough for some of us old folks. Anyone who has had a hip or knee replaced, suffers using a toilet that is so low to the floor. You folks could do better

The pool was closed and it looked like it wasn't even being worked on. There was an ice maker and it was turned off. the shower took a long time to get hot and drained very slow so when you went to take a shower you were standing in several inches of cold water. You couldn't inform the staff because there was nobody there. Everything was done over the phone.

I didn't see any staff members on site. When I went to the office to check in, I had to call a posted number. The person who answered instructed me how to process my credit card and program my room keys on equipment in the office. I accomplished both successfully.

My room #103 was very basic, showing wear and tear, but clean. My bed was comfortable. The heating/ A/C unit was adequate, but outdoor temperatures were mild.

The room door did not latch when closed normally, probably due to building settling. The deadbolt worked OK for when I was in the room. I found that, by lifting the door handle with the door closed, I could get the latch to operate, so I was able to lock the door and provide security for my belongings when I wasn't in my room.

We did enjoy our stay. I called ahead to ask about late check-in and the man who answered the phone was borderline rude and snippy. We arrived in the afternoon after rearranging our life and checked it. What infuriated me was that when we arrived back after our event, there were people checking in. The young man on the desk in the afternoon was very friendly and very polite.

We arrived at check-in time but no one was on hand to check guests in - we had to call a number which was at the desk, and when someone answered (after several attempts) he talked us through inserting the credit card in the credit card machine, and putting the blank keys through the kay machine. No one was on hand to receive the keys when we checked out, and there was no key drop box, so we left the keys in the room. There were shampoo, conditioner, and body wash dispensers in the shower, but they were empty, and there were bars of soap, but no shampoo or conditioner.

The young man at the front desk was nice. That's the only good thing about this place. To access our room, we had to climb stairs outside to the second floor and try to access the door absolutely covered with dead bugs. Keys didn't work. A second set didn't work. Not helpful when you have luggage and food in 95 degree heat. Finally found a door that had been taped open. Room gross. Unable to change the channel on the TV. Fan in the bathroom sounded like it was ready to give up. Electrical sockets taped over. Dead flowers \"decorating\" the hallway along with a fly swatter. Fire extinguishers hadn't been inspected since April of 2022. Overall, better to avoid The Pilgrim Inn. Dreadful!

Didn't realize till that evening when I came back to room that the sink drain was cracked and every time I used the sink, water sprayed on the floor around my feet. It's not an updated place and the pool wasn't open, but it was a bed to sleep in with a shower that worked. The other places to stay around this area are really pricey, so it worked for what we needed at the price we could afford.

Pilgrim Inn: A great bargain!

My room was sparkling clean, and some of the amenities were charming reminders of my youth: ironing board and iron fitted on the wall, clothesline pulley in the tub, automatic dispenser for soap and shampoo. For housekeeping, one must ask: I met the housekeeping couple who reside on the property and asked for extra bath towels and coffee for the coffee maker, and they brought them promptly. The room came with a half-fridge and a microwave as well. The only drawback, for me, were the t.v., which seemed to play exclusively Fox, and the remote check-in (the proprietor, located somewhere else in the world, speaks to new arrivals and helps them program the keys to their room via telephone in what was once the lobby--a little weird if you're not used to it). I was here to visit Jacob's Pillow, and, when I'm here again, I'd definitely chose to stay at the Pilgrim: five nights cost $781 total! By the way, Hotels.com has my stay wrong: I was here from Tuesday, Jul 02--Sun, July 7.

Never saw a person for check in. No breakfast. Cleanliness barely adequate. Rugs needed to be replaced or better yet, don't have any. The only amenities were three bars of soap, the dispenser in the tub area for shampoo, conditioner, and body wash was empty. The room was pretty worn. The web states they had a pool which is true but you couldn't swim in it. The walls of the pool were falling down and there was green water and leaves in part of the pool. It was tough getting the tv to work. There was no information sheet in the room. The one positive thing was that the room was a good size and had a small table and two chairs.The refrigerator and the microwave were fine.

I showed up with my daughter after a long drive and NO ONE was at reception. Late, it before midnight- not unusual for motel travelers. NO ONE answered buzzer. NO ONE answered phone. I had to stay in another motel after scrambling to find one at the last minute. I think this is some kind of zombie listing. I prepaid, no refundable through One Key and there was NO ROOM.

A DUMP - pay a little extra, and stay somewhere else. No joke: this was one of the most disappointing stays I've ever had at any hotel. I would give it zero stars overall, but that's not one of the review options.

I don't often write reviews, but I felt a warning to others was in order so that they don't make the same mistake we did.
The pool was empty of water (though the site said there was a pool), there was no staff on duty (probably because the place's bad condition invites complaints to the management), there was no hot water (and no explanation why), and the rooms were dingy and smelled like cigarette smoke poorly covered up by nauseating air freshener (despite it being an ostensibly non-smoking room). Some of the tenants appeared to be long-term and living in the building, and there are no amenities - not even morning coffee (despite the machinery being in the \"reception\" area). Our check-in was over the phone, and someone remotely watched me on a video camera as I self-served activating my room key.

The worst part is that management and/or Expedia knew or should have known I was being overcharged for this shabby place - $170 ($190 with tax), and I saw it listed the night we (regrettably) stayed there for $100 cheaper. Someone is misrepresenting this place, and I will get to the bottom of it!! I feel completely taken advantage of.

The self check-in was a new experience for me but worked well. We were disappointed the Pilgrim Inn did not look nearly as nice as the photo on the website. It was shabby on the outside and lacked curb appeal.
The room was very simply furnished with outdated, worn decor but seemed clean. The 4 light fixtures had such low wattage bulbs that even with all turned on the room seemed poorly lit. We appreciated having a mini fridge and microwave.
The white bathroom towels were very clean and soft. The missing screw cover for the center faucet handle probably costs less than $5 and would make a difference is appearance and function. The ceiling fan was nonfunctional.

After reading many negative reviews I was prepared for the worst. Brought towels, bedding, even a refrigerator. None was needed. The room was fine. Perhaps a slight smell from cleaning liquid. Would stay here again. Might request the same room to be safe. The bathroom looked newly renovated. Bed was comfortable. Good size room. Wifi worked ok. Was clean. AC worked well. Checkin is remote but went fine. The pool was not in operation but there are tons of ponds and lakes to swim in nearby. This was a 3 day stay.

Room was clean. Expected dated facility, but both lobby and motel room were run down, with peeled wallpaper border, threadbare and torn furniture and bedding. Falsely advertising in photos a working swimming pool (I brought my swimsuit) but clearly the pool has been closed for some time based on the broken concrete pool surround, torn pool cover, and no water in pool. No actual on-site person for check in. Instead, you call a number, look into a video camera and person on phone talks you through inserting your credit card (if you hadn't prepaid via Expedia, which I did, but woman in line before me had not), then you are issued electronic room keys. Problem? No onsite personnel for security because motel Check-in person could be in a different state. Basic room expected, but advertised room amenities were not actually available in all rooms offered to us; not even a coffee maker in ours. Note the older 2 story house annex building: The second floor stairway landing has a low railing and balustrade height that doesn't meet current building code, so be careful with children. Overall, it met our need for a clean place to sleep under $175 w/tax following a night concert at Tanglewood as an impromptu getaway.

Great Location Hotel

This was a clean comfortable room that we stayed 1 night at. It was in a great location to the things we wanted to do. The check in procedure was a little odd, no one was at the front desk, you had to call a number and follow instructions from the person on the phone. Not sure if it's always like that. The housekeeper met us to give us the room key. She was great since we had questions and she was around to answer them. Also a note to those traveling soon, the pool was closed and the ice machine was broken.

I haven't been in a facility as dirty, smelly or run down as this one since the 1940s in Georgia on Rt. US301. We went to our room and immediately cancelled our stay: smells of mold and old tabacco, antique bedspreads that hadn't been washed in years. I would remove this facility from your list of offerings, as it can only denegrate your other listings' reputations.

The check in was weird. Their systems were not working so I had to speak to someone in a remote office and felt very uncertain about the security of my credit card information. The advertised pool had no water in in and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in years. My room smelled and was hot and dank. The tv did not work and I had to contact this same remote who had to walk me through getting it to work. The shower water handle kept falling off and the room’s telephone was not plugged into anything rendering it useless. The mattress was lumpy and the blanket was beady and scratchy and I had to remove it from the bed. I would not recommend this motel unless you’re really ok with just “roughing in.” Yes it was economical but even that rate was too much for what I experienced.

Check in was done by a security cameras and and talking on my phone. Had to punch in and make my own room key. Room was the farthest away and had people sleeping outside in their car. I am assuming because there is no one on site to check the property. They initially were going to sleep with sleeping bags outside of our door but I asked them to stop smoking because my kids could smell a skunk around.
Also , it was raining really hard so I assumed the carpet was wet , yes carpeted floors, from where we had walked but no , the room was just damp and smelled like cat pee.
My children felt very uncomfortable sleeping. We checked in at 9pm and left at 5am because we just no one was settled.
It was a place to rest our head after 10 hrs if driving but I think we should have kept on driving and found somewhere else.

We were very disappointed that the pool was not filled with water. Also, we did not know that there was no continental breakfast. Although the rugs in the room seemd new, the shower curtain had a tear in it, the wall wasn’t very clean, and the dresser was not in good shape. Also, there was a large hole in one of the screens in the window. It was quiet enough.
We have stayed here before, unless one more day then you thank you

A motel from hell!

This is one of the worst motels I've ever stayed it. Starting with the absence of staff at the front desk (one has to register via a telephone call and a camera). It took 45 minutes to register.
The room declared 'non-smoking' reeked of tobacco smoke. Furniture was shabby. There was no soap or shampoo in the bathroom.Internet connection was so-so.
Staff on the premisses seemed busy drinking beer and smoking. Do not stay at this awful place!

Absolutely horrendous

No one on site ever. The check in process was \"remote\" and consisted of me coding my own room key after showing my ID to a camera. Hesitant to proceed, we'd traveled from south Texas and it had been a long day, so we did. When we unlocked the room it was smelly, filthy, had bed covers from the 80s, and the walls were bubbling. I immediately turned around and walked out. Two doors down another guest stuck out her head to ask if there is anyone on site because her toilet is broken and she'd tried to call multiple times but no one answered. We left and went somewhere else (forfeiting the cancelation fee of one night because i would literally rather pay than stay here). In town that night we were relaying our story to the bartender who said the Pilgrim has a reputation to locals for harboring drugs and illegal activity.

We did not ultimately stay at the Pilgrim Inn, and we are still waiting for the refund that the attendant on the phone told my wife he would provide - more than a week has passed with no refund. We arrived to check in, and the advertised 24/7 front desk is actually someone located offsite (likely not even in town). When you enter the lobby, they have you call a phone number and then step in front of a camera and show your ID. They have a stack of room keys, which you end up programming yourself. My wife was told the keys would work within 5 minutes. After 5 minutes they did not work. After 20 minutes we could get through the door into the building (which reeked like pot), but could not access our room. We never obtained access to our room, so my wife called the off-site front desk number again and said we would not stay there since we could not access our room. She was told by the attendant (I believe his name was Raymond) that he would process the refund), so we went across the street to the Quality Inn which had a human at the front desk and room keys that worked on the first try.

We are still waiting for the refund we were promised.

Do yourself a favor and spend a few extra bucks to stay somewhere else. The Pilgrim Inn is sketchy, from the misleading 24/7 front desk advertisement, to the sketchy practice of having guests make their own room keys, to the many things I'm sure we missed since we didn't stick around to discover them.

Trip to Tanglewood

This was a quick one night trip to Tanglewood for a concert. The motel was fine for that purpose, but was disappointed in the pool not being open which the listing says there is a pool and the fact that I never actually saw an employee there. When you get there to check in you call a number and the person on the phone walks you through paying as well as making your own key card. Never quite experienced that anywhere before. Not a big fan of that! The room was fine but the service was not at all what I would have expected.
