Very nice host. Helpful with area attractions. Old house which is part of the charm but my room didnt have a key to lock it..just a deadbolt at night which was fine. Quiet town so I didnt worry about theft.
My room was okay but housekeeping not great:
No soap in shower, had to ask. no extra roll of toliet paper and ran out after 1st day. Tissue box empty.
No TV in room! I was very surprised to have to rely in my own cell phone for TV, that was annoying expecially when I was out all day and phone needed to get charged, I didnt have a TV to watch. :(

Bed was super comfy and sheets very nice.
Breakfast was organic and its nice she cooks from her garden, but the eggs and potatoes overcooked both days.

A beautiful property in a quiet neighborhood. The inn keeper was especially easy to converse with and she offered unique breakfasts that were different each morning, creative and so nutritious and delicious: it was a highlight of my stay. It was worth being late to work each morning just to be able to experience her creations. Oh,and her friendly and sweet dog was truly icing on the cake.

Our stay was brief, but very pleasant. We had a late check-in which was easy and hassle-free. Our room was charming and quite comfortable. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast with the other guests. Check-out was seamless. Our host Charlotte was wonderful!

The owner go the extra mile to make you feel welcomed. They accomodated my early check in with no issues. The spread for breakfast was out of this world. Fresh fruit salad, home made baked goods, fresh coffee or tea, French toast prepared as soon as you got to the table. And to top it all, good conversation with them. Can't ask for anything better !!

Was immediately greeted and given a tour with interesting history of the property. It was 90 degrees outside, but A/C in my room was operating and the room was cool and welcoming upon arrival. We loved our stay at the Cheney House. Bobbi and Anthony were so accommodating, friendly, and funny. The room was perfect, comfortable bed, clean room and bathroom. We loved the atmosphere and time spent with the other guests in the evening and at breakfast, which was delicious. Loved the dog and cat, puzzles, brochures of things to do, all the details. We had a great time at Bobbi and Anthony’s B&B. The room was clean, and had chocolate covered valentines and cookies when we arrived. The breakfast was delicious with French toast, fruit and home made muffins and bread. The location is only a few minutes away from 93, and they even had a puzzle for guests to work on! We would definitely stay here again!

Run be a really nice couple, we have an enjoyable time at Cheney House. While it was a quick overnight, their accommodation and friendliness will not be forgotten! My wife and I both needed a place to take Zoom calls a few hours before checkin and they set us up with a login and a nice place to take our calls. Beds were comfortable and the room was small but well equipped. Breakfast was made to order and excellent. My wife and I are both allergic to cats and dogs and we did not see that this place was overly welcoming to pets and if we did would probably have gone somewhere else. However we did not have any problem with odors or allergies. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

A wonderful and pet friendly getaway

Anthony and Bobbi were perfect hosts. We arrived early and Anthony graciously met us at the door. He suggested a local restaurant and gave us a card for a free app for dinner. The blue room was perfect. A fully tiled and jetted bathtub in a private bath, which my wife fully appreciated. Comfy bed and warm room (and it was 16 outside). Nice touches like a lace cover on the kleenex box and chocolate covered strawberries for a late treat were greatly appreciated. And Breakfast was Fabulous! He is a master at the stove!
Highly recommended and we will stay again the next time we're in town.

The hosts Bobbie and Jim were delightful and extremely accommodating. The Cheney House is a historical building with some modern conveniences, ie. great air conditioning, jacuzzi tub, good WiFi, and Bobbie's breakfast was superb and cook to order for each guest.. Their great hospitality made our trip to the InterLakes region of New Hampshire a delight, not to mention educational too.

Amazing experience!

For our 1st time at a bed and breakfast, we had a fantastic experience! Our hosts were very accommodating from our arrival until our departure! The house was clean and chock full of interesting pictures and artifacts. Our room was cozy and our meal was delightful! When it came time to leave we needed a ride to our final destination and Anthony and Bobbi went above and beyond by driving us to where we needed to go! Thank you both so much for making our 1st time in New Hampshire and our 1st experience in a bed and breakfast a memorable one! We highly recommend Cheney House as the go to bed and breakfast when staying in New Hampshire!

This was our first stay. The owners, Bobbi and Anthony met us with open arms. We felt very comfortable right from the start. We were surprised at the beauty of the woodwork and history of the Cheney house. The area has several restr, and stores and within walking distance. Squam lake is very close, and RT 93 is very easy access. If you are looking for a beautiful, quiet, personable place to stay, then do not hesitate to stay at this bed and breakfast. We have never stayed at a Bed and Breakfast before would not hesitate to stay here again. We found this B&B on the web from our home in the UK. We liked the look of the web site. We were not disappointed, the accommodation was first class, the rooms clean and comfortable, the breakfast very comprehensive and beautifully cooked.

But best of all the owners Anthony & Bobbi Hoerter are so welcoming and friendly, they obviously enjoy their role as hosts, it is not just a job for them. As a bonus for any model railway enthusiast Anthony has large layout in the barn which he is happy to show to visitors

Our tranquility break after my daughters wedding

We traveled to New Hampshire for my daughter's wedding, and the rehearsal dinner. We new that at the end of it all we would need a comfortable,quiet, place to rest. The Cheney House with it's owners Bobbie and Anthony was the right choice! The warm and gracious atmosphere, the delicious breakfasts, and congeniality made this an absolute best. Anthony's train collection took me back to my childhood, and Bobbies history of concert going had me thinking Hendrix, and the Beatles. And of course there was Tobie and Bandit, and one other 4 pawed friend whose name I've forgotten. It allowed us to miss our \"crew\" a little less.

Altogether welcoming and charming

Completely unscheduled, we arrived at the Cheney Guest House with our three children (ages 6, 10 and 17) requesting lodging and we were so touched with the warm welcome we received and the friendly attentions our hosts showed us. We got a tour of the house, stories of the area, two perfect rooms, directions and a discount for a restaurant in town, a tour of Anthony's model train set-up and a delicious home-cooked meal in the morning after a peaceful night's sleep. Staying there was more like a loving family visit than a stay at a guest house and the kids and I were quite sorry to depart the next day. A lovely guest house run by lovely people!

Love this place-will return!

We were going to a show at Meadowbrook, and I happen to fall upon this B and B by accident--but I am glad I did. The house was very clean and the rooms decorated nicely. There were snacks waiting for us in the room, and a refrige with water available to us...very nice. The breakfast was delicious! I made a last minute reservation at the Cheney House for a single night stay on Dec 21st. This stay was to be a surprise for my wife on our 26th Anniversary. I had never been to the Cheney House so you could imagine the anxiety that felt to get this right. Well I'm here to tell you that I got it right and I can't say enough about Bobby & Anthony and their B & B operation. They made us feel welcome and relaxed. They were available to tend to our every need. Anthony is very witty and Bobby is a wonderful hostess. Anthony makes a great bacon & cheese omelet as well. I would highly recommend their B & B and will definitely return.

Early Thanksgiving with family

My wife and I arranged to spend a long weekend as an early Thanksgiving with our 2 sons and their wives at our oldest son's house in Ashland. We like to have a getaway place from family when we visit so as to not wear out our welcome. We stayed at the Cheney House during a previous visit and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at that time so it was an easy choice to make to book a return trip here.

Anthony and Bobbi made us feel totally comfortable. Our stay was for 3 nights, so we were served 3 delicious and substantial breakfasts that sustained us during day hikes in the local mountains. Anthony and Bobbi also provided us with information about places to see in the area.

Summary for the trip - great time with great breakfasts, clean and comfortable room.

Beautiful Blue Room

Stayed in the Cheney House's Beautiful Blue Room. Very nice, very clean and well laid out. Has a nice small fridge in the hallway with complimentary bottled water. Fresh Cookies in room and various complimentary candies throughout the Inn. Found both Bobbi & Anthony to be very charming and entertaining. Breakfast far exceeded our expectations. Dfinatel planning on returning when in the area. This was my first B&B experince and i was o nice that it definately will not be my last! Many thanks to Anthony & Bobbi. First time B&B

We wanted a place to stay close to The Flying Monkey for a concert we were attending in Plymouth, NH. The Cheney house was 6 miles from the The flying Monkey and was our first B&B. We loved the place, room and Bobbi and Anthony. Also enjoyed meeting two other couples while we were there. The house is an old victorian with such wonderful charm of it's own. We had treats in our room when we arrived and a lovely breakfast the next morning. Each room has it's own character and charm. We stayed in the Blue room which is lovely, with it's own private bath including a jacuzzi tub. It's located on a quiet street and we had our windows open and was still quiet enough to be able to sleep at night.

Plan to go back and visit often as we felt like we had known them forever!

If I could rate the service category higher, I would. My fiance and I had an early flight out of Boston and had to leave the B&B by 7am. Anthony & Bobbi both got up early to make us breakfast still and see us on our way. They were the most personable B&B owners I've come across yet, and we enjoyed our times SO much there. I don't anticipate having to go to New Hampshire again any time soon (we went for a wedding), but I would make a special trip just to go back and see them. A perfect getaway

I took my fiance out to New Hampshire for a getaway for his birthday. I found the Cheney House was close to several attractions so I booked us a room. Once there I was greeted warmly and even had my suitcase carried up for me. The room was very nice and clean, our breakfast the next day was delicious and our hosts were very kind and willing to give us information about the area. I was really sad when we had to leave and I definitely want to go back again.

Perfect Getaway

If you like whimsy and animals, this is the place for you. Bobbi and Anthony made us feel right at home, not to mention their 3 cats and sweet dog. Spots of humor dotted both the exterior and interior of the B&B. Service was exceptional.

Charming B&B

Well what can I say about this charming B& B that hasn't already been said. This was our first time staying at a B&B, and I have to admit that my husband was a little leary about this. When we first arrived, we were met by a warm and friendly Anthony. He gave us the grand tour, and the minute he opened the door we were pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was warm and inviting and completely set us at ease. You can tell by the conditiion of this historic home that it has been lovingly cared for and maintained throughout the years. The elegant stained glass windows, warm, rich wood trim and floors were spectacular. The bedroom and bathroom were spacious and clean with fresh flowers, cookies and sweet treats to welcome us. The next morning we went for breakfast and were met by Bobbi, a very friendly and lovely hostess, fresh orange juice, coffee,tea and sweet breads were ready to be enjoyed. The entree was stuffed french toast, sausage and fresh fruit. So dellicious!!! Day two was eggs and bacon to order, fresh fruit and more wonderful sweet breads.

Thank you Anthony and Bobbi for a wonderful B& B experience. I would not hesitate to recommend this B&B.

It is worth a visit to Ashland to see!!

Cheney House

Cheney House was beautiful and well accommodating of our visit. They were interested in our visit and even recommended ski resorts. Breakfast was great and we felt comfortable in their home. I'd absolutely come back when I'm in NH.

Treated like a Queen

This was such a wonderful place to stay. I only wish I was there on business and had my husband to share it all with me. The owners are so wonderful and very hospitable. The breakfast was fit for a queen!

Rainy But Wonderful!

We came to NH for a wedding and to see the changing leaves. The rainy week-end kept us from the leaves but our amazing hosts made sure we had a wonderful time! Plenty of sunshine inside The Cheney House.

The Cheney House was very nice, there were no other guests when we were there so we had the whole place to ourselves. The owners went out of their way to please us. Even going to the local florist to buy roses and put them in our room at my request for a special valentines day surprise for my girlfriend! A full breakfast with eggs to order wrapped up the weekend on an awesome note. I'd stay there again and recommend it to anyone!

Cheney House is Wonderful

Anthony & Bobbi got us a room on short notice. They are very friendly. Rooms are comfortable and the bed sleeps great. Breakfast was very good!

The best-kept secret in NH

An exceptional B&B. We have stayed at several, but the Cheney is the best. Their rooms, service, and breakfasts are the best, no comparison.
