Although parts of the hotel are arguably a little tired, there is a lot to recommend to people with a sense of history. The location is excellent, staff friendly, rates fare, the breakfast decent. My second stay, and I will go again.

The hotel was cosy, comfortable and clean. The staff were very helpful at all times. We had an amazing stay and will stay there again next time we visit Paris.

The only thing I’d say was an issue was the key situation. You have to leave your key at reception each time you leave the hotel. This caused some problems. Sometimes there was no member of staff to take our key as we left despite ringing the bell which was a security issue. There were also a few times I had to retrieve the key from behind reception because again there was no staff around despite ringing the bell many times. I hope they can find a better alternative to this as it was starting to get frustrating.

However, I wouldn’t let it get in the way of what was a fantastic hotel. We can’t wait to return!

The staff was courteous and the breakfast good. Location is very good. The room tough even if spacious, was definitely in need of refurbishment and the furniture was quite old as well.
In addition, no tea or coffee tray in the room, that for a 4 stars and nowadays could be a bit disappointing.

Continental Breakfast was free and good. Front desk staff were very responsive to my questions. Only downsides were small elevator (fits 2 or 1 with luggage), rather crooked, leaving and some steep steps and noise from outside hotel.

A great hotel with a nice courtyard and great rooms.
Very easy transport with bus and Metro stops really close. Local places everywhere to eat and great food.
The staff were all really friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
I can’t say enough on how great our stay at Hotel d’Angleterre made our holiday in Paris.

Our room was on the second floor which meant climbing over 30 stairs which is not great for those in their 70-80’s. There is an elevator for higher floors just not the 2nd. The room was spacious but the toilet is in the foyer when you come in with only a cold water sink and no soap and the rest of the bathroom is in the back so a bit awkward. The bedding was very comfortable, the staff were helpful a you can’t beat the location. I would stay there again but on a floor with an elevator.

We have long wanted to try this historic hotel with the great location and lively center outdoor space. This year the availability made that possible. While the interior needs redoing (threadbare carpet in our room and tired furnishings) it is a wonderful licatiin and the staff was very accommodating and genuinely nice. One of the better breakfast options of the hotels in the area and excellent coffee. We also love having the tiny bar available to us a all hours.

This very well-managed hotel is an oasis of comfort, beauty and safety in a great location on the Left Bank — a 5-minute walk to the St. Germain-des-Pres metro stop, and just a few blocks to a bridge crossing to the Louvre etc. The hotel breakfast buffet, served in an elegant room, is ample and delicious. The coffee machine makes cappuccino, café au lait and other such drinks; an array of tea choices is nearby. In the lobby lounge the international edition of The NY Times shares space with French periodicals. Hotel rooms are charmingly designed, though the 4 singles in the hotel are more austere. Even so, my 3rd floor single had a lovely view of an interior garden, adequate storage, a comfortable bed and fairly soundproof walls. I look forward to returning to this hotel, and recommend it highly.

Gracious boutique hotel ideally located.

A lovely gracious boutique hotel reminiscent of older Paris. Our room was large and comfortable with 2 big windows overlooking rue Jacob. Breakfasts were wonderful in a lovely room off the lobby.
The small bar in the lobby allows for an after dinner drink before heading to bed. Simply a lovely experience!

Comfortable, & relatively spacious hotel in Paris

Often rooms in Paris hotels are small, but I found both rooms I booked to be of a good size. No coffee making facilities in the room (but coffee machine in lounge), a safe in the room and very comfy bed. Excellent wine by the glass in the lounge and the breakfast was a nice continental spread. Some rooms only have small spiral staircase access to check if you have mobility issues; the is lift access for some rooms. Great location.

This boutique hotel is amazing. The hotel is historic, the, rooms are charming and each unique, the small open-air atrium is a delightful quiet place for breakfast or tea, and the breakfast is great. I loved staying at the Hotel d'Angleterre Saint Germain des Pres! The hotel was in an excellent location where I could walk to many wonderful sites. I loved that it was only a 10 minute walk to the Seine. The management and desk clerks were very accommodating, the breakfast was lovely, and I enjoyed the garden. I had a wonderful stay, 10 days in May and 8 more in June. Should I return to Paris, I will book my stay with them again.

A wonderfully located hotel (10 minute walk to the Louvre, 15 to Notre Dame and close to many galleries and small shops) with a lovely French- style breakfast room and a beautiful courtyard. My only complaint was that the WiFi was very choppy in the room (only if I placed the phone on the floor we could connect) I hope they fix it (they did try, but we gave up eventually) because other than that it was all wonderful.

First off, the hotel staff who checked me in was really nice and helpful. He helped me with my luggage which helped me alot due to a bad shoulder. There is an elevator, but you still need to use the stairs to get to your room. My check out with another night shift staff was also very pleasant. The location was top notch! Unfortunately, I cannot say too much about the room :( Once a year, I try to go to Paris for business and prefer to stay in boutique hotels. The 6th is my favorite location. My last hotel was Villa Madame which was hard to beat. I was hoping that it was comparable so I can stay in this side of Saint Germain. Online, the rooms looks big with high ceilings & wood beams. Also, a previous review has compliments on a renovated bathroom. However my room (#10) although clean --- the fixtures, carpeting, furniture (sofa arm is badly pilled) needs updating. The bathroom tile was re-glazed over & over again and the curtains were dusty and not securely hanged. I usually do not give unpleasant feedbacks but I am hoping Management reads this to help improve this charming hotel since it has an excellent location!

Quaint and comfy historic hotel in a fabulous location in Saint Germain. Ten minutes walk to the Louvre, fifteen to the d’Orsay, and two to many delightful bistros. Front desk service was exceptionally good and friendly, maid service OK (dirty glasses were not replaced). No AC so may not be comfy in a heat wave.

Bottom line, we thoroughly enjoyed this hotel.

The location is excellent, within easy walking distance of Musee D’Orsay, the Louvre, Notre Dame, L’Orangerie etc, with plenty of buses and metro stops within 5 minutes walk as well.

Our welcome was delightful and the room was quite large. The room was a bit tired, with smell of mothballs and one of the bathroom lights was more like a strobe (we unscrewed it) and a shower that is guaranteed to get water on the floor, but again, we LOVED the hotel. Our room could readily convert to a two room suite, with a pull out couch and pocket doors for privacy. Each area has its own TV. There are plenty of windows and a large fan (NO air conditioning, but the weather was prefect, so the fan was more than enough to keep us comfy). The bed was very comfortable. Bathroom was spacious with both a large tub and a separate shower stall. There were ample amenities and fluffy towels. The room had a large walk in closet with tons of shelf space and a safe.

Breakfast was delicious and the dining room is elegant. If weather permits, and you’re lucky enough to get a table, the atrium is a lovely breakfast spot as well.

Tips:
Assanabel (Lebanese food to eat in or kabobs etc to take away) is three doors down. It was exceptional! We actually ate there twice.

There is a laundromat (Julice Laverie) within easy walking distance.

Right around the corner is the Serge Gainsbourg House. It is must see for music lovers.

Loved my stay at Hotel D’Angleterre! The hotel is in a prime location, the staff was very friendly and the room (and hotel) was so quaint! The courtyard was particularly beautiful. The one issue we had was we came in a heat wave, so the room was SO HOT during the day (and at night one night). The hotel did the best they could to accommodate, which was very appreciated — they had two fans in our room upon check-in. Thank you for the great stay!

Been a long time since Hemingway checked in, but those cobwebs have probably...remained the same. OK, not that bad. BUT, I hated having the toilet in what should be a closet. No ventilation. I felt I had to duck, and I'm 5'2\". Breakfast was just not stellar. Truly lackluster. Nice garden, though. I was shocked when housekeeper forgot the soap and shampoo. Front staff called taxi 3x and one finally came...very late. I'll bet that 5th floor is broiling without A/C in the current heat wave. Never felt happier to exit a Paris hotel. Oh well. It was quiet at night, and I appreciate that.

Disappointed that there was no air conditioning, the toilet was smelly nor was the room similar to hotel pictures. However, the shower worked,and the timbered ceiling was charming. When I left after three days, I found bite marks on my wrists and arms. The hotel said it was a clean room, but it was probably mosquitoes. I hope that it wasn't bedbugs.

This is our 3rd trip to Paris & 1st time stay in Saint Germaine....It's an Amazing Area with lots of Parisian Personalities, but a bit Pricy though!! Well, when you are on vacation, it can't be dollars & cents all the time, right?
This is an Old but Clean & charming Hotel with great location, very short walk to Metro station & lots of Boutiques / Restaurants near by. Hotel Staff is very kind & helpful, by the way, I love their Breakfast, it does change my prospective about majority of the Hotels doesn't come up with nice breakfast....Will go back, for sure, next trip.

We really enjoyed the area, St Germain is the perfect place to stay. The staff is nice and accommodating. We arrived before check-in and they were kind enough to hold our bags for us. We received a room on the main floor which was directly off the veranda. The room was spacious, however the walls are very thin and you can hear every bit of noise and conversation outside.

Hotel d’Angleterre — 44 Rue Jacob, Paris

I stayed in the garret apartment — which was wonderful. There was the oddity of the bath tub in the bedroom screened off by waist high wall. But the space was generous — nice leather sofa and chairs in living room. Although one could make tea and coffee in the apartment the stove was clearly off bounds — no pots and pans. The apartment is on the fifth floor, so it’s a bit of a hike — no elevator in that wing of the hotel. The apartment looks just like the photos — large timbers in the ceiling, skylights, and windows. A nice breakfast and helpful bi-lingual staff who carried heavy suitcases to the apartment without complaints. I would definitely stay there again. Oh, and GREAT location — surrounded by restaurants and boutiques.

A disappointing Experience

The hotel is in a convenient area for getting to the sights, and the staff was pleasant. The decorations was cute modern, and very appealing. But there was no thought given to comfort or utility. Our room was up two very long flights of stairs. There was no air conditioning, and the room stayed hot well after it had cooled off outside. Because there was no air conditioning, we had to leave the windows open. It was extermely noisy at night, and then the trash trucks began at a little past 5am. The two very narrow beds were hard as rocks (mattress pads would help.) There was little place to put things, or even hang a towel. We were told when we arrived that breakfast, which was only adequate, would be 11 euros per person per day. When we checked out, we were charged 14 euros instead. And the person checking us out insisted that 14 was correct. I would never stay at this place again, and I would recommend against it to friends.

It's a lovely hotel in the heart of the city. Easy access to the metro and an lovely walk to the Latin Quarter and museums. There is no air condition, though, but they do provide a fan. The staff was lovely and very helpful and the garden was quiet and relaxing. I loved my stay there and it's a perfect place to stay when you are venturing around Paris. I had zero issues or complaints about this property. I highly recommend it!

A place to cherish

We recommend this hotel most highly -- for its history, unimprovable location on a quiet street in a delightful neighborhood, and unfailingly kind service. Just about anything you might want to do or see can be reached on foot from here. Paris' three most celebrated cafes are right here; innumerable restaurants, boulangeries, patisseries, museums, shops, parks, sights, the river, the Metro -- and when you come home, it will be to a distinctive, unfussy, large room. A Deluxe room is an excellent bargain. If you insist on everything new, this is not for you. For those who love old-fashioned fixtures and furnishings, it is perfectly romantic, and is just why we come to Paris.

Great Location!

We chose this hotel based on the location. This area is great for eateries and wondering the side streets of Paris. The hotel was comfortable for our stay, although the bathroom room (toilet) size of our first room was ridiculously small. Staff were pleasant, and helpful, one girl in particular was amazing in helping us cal taxis, assist with luggage and directions.
