Accessing the property is difficult. Street parking is very hard to find, and the road design in Locarno makes it harder to navigate. The rooms also have no AC. It can be very loud at night to open the windows because it’s at the plaza.

Pretty and convenient - a little lacking in detail

The staff were friendly, and it was very central. This is 3 star so some of the amenities were a bit basic (uncomfortable bed but good pillows). Things that could have helped were chairs for the balcony, stronger overhead light bulb in the main room, toaster at breakfast). Convenient for one night.

Not Impressed

Location is excellent, right on La Plaza Grande. However, this is a bare-minimum hotel. The bathroom sink had cracks, the decor was old and unattractive, and there was no kettle to make tea or coffee and no fridge.

Clean room with a little balcony. Was overlooking the bar so got quite loud and we had to keep the balcony open in the night due to no air conditioning so it was noisy. However, friendly staff and lovely hotel near a coop and very walkable to the town centre.

Location of the hotel is by Piazza Grande. Our room was not part of the hotel but more like an apartment across. The room was big but dark and tired looking. Was not a welcoming look. Not enough socket points for charging our phones and none by the bedside. Slight overpriced in my opinion.

Good base in Locarno with old world charm

This hotel is very conveniently located near the center of town, the Piazza Costello. As an older property it has a definite charm with a pink theme with cherubs. Dinner in the restaurant was very good: the beef entrecôte was perfectly cooked medium rare, and my companions pork cordon bleu was good. The waitress was very genuine, and recommended an excellent wine for us. The room was comfortable and clean.

The hotel is located at the quiet end of Piazza Grande, at the heart of city and close to the port, train station, and main shopping arcades, with plenty of restaurants and shops around. the room was clean and comfortable.Staff were friendly and helpful. Clean an confortable hotel. If you are with a car you can not reach the hotel. They give you a discount parking ticket ( € 9 ) from a parking place. 300 mts. Close to the castello. Move with a small carry bag. Nice hotel

We booked this hotel 9 months in advance, so we were surprised when we were placed in what I call an \"annex\" of the hotel. The annex had no elevator, so one of our traveling companions who had a bad knee had to climb several flights of stairs to get to the room. The rooms in the annex were average at best; the breakfast provided was very good.

The hotel is about 10 min walk from the train station and the lake. I like the pasta at the hotel restaurant. Our room is in the attic space so not very comfortable for tall people.

Locarno Charm needs update.

Charming area, lovely breakfast dining area, but our section of the hotel is very outdated w/ uncomfortable beds, flat pillows, inoperable hairdryer. No lift as stated, nor self laundry, which was one reason the hotel was chosen.

Great location, neat and clean

I had read the reviews before booking and people were complaining to be a noisy hotel though I did not find it so. It was nice and clean and with plenty space and all the needful items inside the room, however one of the mattresses was too soft and not confortable, so the hotel should do regular checks to change those. Other than that was a pleasant staying

Spent two nights here while looking round Locarno. Nice location, at the edge of the old-town with good views. Facilities good and staff friendly and helpful. Parking available (at a good rate) in a near by under-ground carpark.

The room was very very noisy. I would not stay here again just because of this.

At first it seems all quiet but then at about midnight the noise kicked off outside.

The breakfast would have been sufficient if the waiters ever bothered to notice that the trays and plates were empty.

Nice hotel. Parking is a downfall.

The location of the hotel is superb, right in the middle of Locarno. Most attractions are within walking distance. The hotel is clean and nicely decorated. Breakfast was good with variety of items. The only downfall is the parking - the hotel offers a discounted parking at a local garage. But it is over 10 minutes walk to get from the parking to the hotel, and there is nowhere to park to drop off your luggage. So it was quite hectic to get to the hotel with all the luggage.

Super clean hotel & room. Very convenient location right on Piazza Grande. Walking distance (5-10 minutes) to major attractions, including funicular to Orselina where you will have nice views over the city, lake Maggiore & Madonna del Sasso Sanctuary. Across the street at the funicular stop in Orselina, you can continue your journey to Cimetta in a Cable Car for an additional price. From the top of Cimetta, on a clear day, you can see the highest point in Switzerland at a distance (Pic Dufour) and the lowest point (Lake Maggiore). Hotel provides a parking card for 7,00 CHF per day (in-out unlimited accesses) & parking Castello is 150 meters from hotel. Breakfast Buffet is included & good choice are available.

The location is unbeatable. It was very pricey. The room was right under the roof with only a window in the ceiling. Very small and hot. I would have expected more for the price. Breakfast was wonderful. We had 2 rooms, one with 4 beds for the kids and the one with a double bed right next to it. So we paid a lot of money to this hotel for the one night. Again, the location can not be beat and breakfast was awesome. Too expensive for the quality of the room though.

It is a tired hotel in need of an update.

If you just need a place to stay for a night or two, it is ok, but also depending on what price you are paying. The hotel is tired and in need of an update. The rooms are straight from the 70's. There is kitsch throughout the property. The location is good, but also quite difficult to find if arriving by car.

Nicely decorated room but singles are VERY small!

The hotel is in a good location of Locarno on the public square with many restaurants, shops and the lake nearby. There was a huge elderly group in the hotel which was fine, but my father and myself were in 2 single rooms which were VERY small. My father was lucky because his private bathroom was in his room, however mine was in another room where I needed a key to access the toilet and shower in the room. Rather annoying.

A Stay to remember

Our room was in a one room apartment down the street over a noisy bar not in the Hotel as expected. The room although reasonably clean did still have a sock laying on the sofa from a previous visitor. The location was very noisy. The actual Hotel was very nice inside and had a good breakfast on offer. It was disappointing that we were in a different building. Not on our revisit list.

Avoid if you can

Two options here -- an ugly, small hotel that hasn't been upgraded for a half century or a separate building with rooms like a college dormitory. There is no reason to stay here, unless it's for free. No need to be right on the square like this, Locarno is tiny so it's easy to get around from wherever one stays. Avoid.

The Hotel was very clean and I enjoyed my stay very much. My room was very clean and the bed comfortable.The breakfast was of a high standard in a very pleasent restaurant setting. The evening menu had a very wide choice and every evening meal that I had at the hotel was of good quality. You were able to have three choices of setting for the evening meal, a pub feel at the bar, a formal restaurant feel inside or outside in the open air of the square. The staff was friendly and they provided prompt service. I recommend this Hotel as covering all bases in a simple quality way when visiting this area.

Beautiful hotel in a great location

This hotel is an older building, probably was once some sort of villa or home and retains that charm. The rooms and bathrooms have been remodeled and are well-apportioned, clean and functional but the building itself is just beautiful. The room (a triple) was huge with a separate sleeping area for the single, it felt like a mini-suite! We had gorgeous views of the town, free breakfast in a very nice breakfast room and were located right in the Grand Piazza. It's about 12 minutes to the train station (but so is everything else) and is very very convenient for visiting Locarno's sights. Also, a fantastic value.

The hotel is located in the center of Locarno. The view from most rooms is non existent as the window opens into the building next door. I speak German and the most interesting experience for me was that the gentleman at the front desk's response when I asked if he spoke English considering we were in Italian speaking part of the country . He replied \"Unlike in America here in Switzerland we speak many different languages\"
I did speak only in German with him the next day while checking out.

Central position, beautiful view

We've stayed 3 nights at the hotel in July. The hotel has 3 stars, good quality/price ratio. The rooms are not modern, but very clean. Hotel position is very good, central, but it has no parking. You get a ticket to park at the central parking, so if you have a lot of luggage that could be an inconvenient.
The rooms don't have air conditioning, it can get very hot inside during the summer months.

If you want to feel like you are in Italy, stay at Hotel Dell Angelo. It was right on the piazza and very convenient. We've been traveling by rail, and it was fairly close to the train station. Restaurant was a bargain and fun to sit on the piazza.

This Hotel is in a delightful location at the western end of the Piazza Grande. It is an easy and very pleasant walk from the SBB station. The restaurant was particularly good, and was also frequented by many local people, which is a sure sign that the food is of good quality !

Older hotel

When we arrived, there was no one that could speak English so it took longer than usual to check in. The room was ok. Nothing special, it works if you get a good deal. Our main compliant was we had to leave on a early train in the morning, (around 6:30am) there were no lights on in the hallway, so we had to walk down the steps in the dark. Then we found the lobby gated up and locked. We luckily found a side door, which we had to unlock with our room key. Not happy with the overall reception, would not stay here again.

Alles was prima, locatie, personeel en gezinskamer. Restaurant aan het hotel. Alleen balen van de parkeerboete. Receptie gaf aan dat het gratis parkeren was, we kwamen 20u aan. Dat klopt ook, maar als je pas 10/11 uur uitcheckt dan ben je van 9 tot 11 niet gedekt.

Very poor hotel in a good location, no AC, weird smell in rooms (bleach in one, smoke in the other), only one receptionist was kind, the rest wouldn't smile much or even interact. Parking too expensive, for a parking that's 5 mins away from the hotel.
