Worth It!

Avoid at all cost!!!

This hotel does not operate as a \"self-check-in\" establishment, as they neither send the codes nor respond to emergency calls or messages. The rude behavior receptionist Monique was appalling. She failed to provide check-in codes and even lied about sending them via hotels.com chat despite evidence to the contrary. Her dismissive attitude throughout the stay only exacerbated the frustration. Furthermore, the room had some problems such as broken heater and very loud (you can hear people flushing toilets). The management team did nothing to resolve any issues. Avoid!!!

Not pleased at all- My husband and I booked a room that had a double bed for the night to break up the train ride from Andermatt to Zermatt, and our room had two twin beds that were pushed together. This hotel building is very old and has extremely thin walls, our room shared the wall where the stairs and elevator was. I got maybe 2 hours of sleep because we heard every little noise throughout the hotel. Not only were we awoken multiple times by guests using the stairs, but anytime someone flushed the toilet or ran the shower/sink, the plumbing was heard very clearly in our room. The pillows were also terrible and the most uncomfortable I’ve ever experienced. Two positives- it was close to the train station/shops and the early check in at 2pm was nice. Check out left me feeling even more disappointed as we were in the lobby dropping the cards in the basket, and the person at the reception did not bother to greet or ask us how the stay was. I’m very bummed on our experience but hope this helps others in their decision on staying here.

Property picture on web doesn't reflect the actual property. Self check in kiosk failed and wanted to charge an extra room rate even though I already prepaid thru expedia. the Kiosk failed to generate a working room key. I was only able to get in because other guests were there. Felt unsafe because spare keys were present in the common area of the breakfast nook. My assigned room was wide open and unlocked which made us felt very uneasy and unsafe. We had to request another room because we weren't sure if someone had accessed to the room that was given to us. Huge red flags.

Had to carry our suitcases down spiral staircase. Would have been hard if we were a few years older. Amazing view of the castle+mountains from top floor where we stayed. Possibly the best view we've ever had in a hotel stay. The area was under a heat bubble and temps were +15F over normal, with no AC this meant somewhat uncomfortable sleeping conditions. Recommend staying well outside summer months, just to be safe with climate questions. The area is beautiful, quiet, and safe. The check in process confused us - originally we were told to expect email communication, which never came and had us worried our reservation was lost. It was cleared up with a phone call but there were some moments of anxiety trying to figure this out while juggling transit issues. Easily cleared up with updated email comms.

Difficulty checking in. Nobody there and had a little difficulty. Parking spots were full so we parked in front. No air conditioning and it was very very hot. But we knew no air. Breakfast area ran out of most food and all juice for over 30 minutes. Comfortable beds and nice patio off of room.

The owner and staffs are very kind and courteous. The property looks conservative decorated and pleasant to stay. The owner greeted the guests every morning at breakfast which is very good quality of food & drinks. Big room, bathroom and balcony that I could smoke outside and look at Mountain View. Must be fluent in German and pay twice.

Self check-in is horrible. You have to stand outside in the rain without cover, with no light (except your iPhone) ant try to figure out how self check-in works in German. Not fun. Ah, and on top you must pay for pre-paid reservation again (second time)! Can you argue with the machine in the rain in German at 11 pm?

This is a great place to stay in Brig. Hosts were very nice. Hotel was close to town and Brig is a nice little city. We were in Switzerland for a triathlon the this was perfect. 50 meter pool about 400 meters away and a track about a half mile away. Would love to stay here again some time.

This is a budget hotel and therefore I didn't expect much. I didn't mind that there was no breakfast included in the rate or a 24-hour front desk. The location is slightly further from the train station, but I am knew this in advance. What I couldn't accept was the cleanliness of the room. The berber carpet hides dirt, but the carpet was not vacuumed properly. In addition, there were quite a lot of ants.

Unfortunately, unless the cleanliness issue is totally resolved, I cannot recommend this hotel.

One night there was an end of scholastic night party in the grounds between the castle and hotel, which continued all night long and that was annoying at the least. Rest OK.

Being at this hotel for two nights was probably one of the highlights of my two-week long trip to Europe.
The location is great because the hotel is a five to ten-minute walk to the Brig train station. There, you can find direct trains to many places in Switzerland and Italy (Bern, Zurich, Geneva, Zermatt, St. Moritz, Milan, you name it). Perched in the quiet town of Brig, I also appreciated the historical surroundings and the really nice people.
I also enjoyed the breakfast (for which I pre-paid on Expedia). It was in a room with very nice views. The Swiss-style buffet had everything one would expect -- eggs, different bread, yogurt, drinks (including several hot beverage dispensers), etc.

This hotel was perfect for our trip. We drove from London to Venice, making numerous stops along the way. This hotel was in a nice quiet town just 40 mins from Zermatt an expensive but nice day out even though we weren't skiing. The hotel was comfortable, clean and definitely worth the money because Switzerland is not cheap. The drive to Simplon on April 6th was the stunning. Words cannot explain how beautiful the drive was and I urge anyone in the area to go there, by far the highlight of Switzerland. Back to the hotel. Breakfast was lovely and the lady who served it, who also worked on the front desk was really pleasant. All round a wonderful trip. One tip.. Make sure you know the basics in German because locals don't like being spoken to in English, whereas in Lausanne the French speaking Swiss didn't mind!

The hotel has not been renovated for some time, however, the room was clean, functional and good value for money. The staff was very helpful in providing guidance to the local environment. This hotel was adequate for what I paid. There is nothing fancy about it and no extra amenities. Breakfast was included, which seems to be typical of all Swiss hotels and very similar to the rest. The bread was delicious and there were plenty of offerings. The desk clerk, who doubled in the dining room was pleasant. The room was on the cold side despite it being the end of summer. The walls are thin so you could hear noise from the hallway but luckily, because it was the slow season, there were not many other guests there. Neither of these issues kept me from getting a good night's sleep however. The toilet was outside the room, which wasn't a huge problem. There was no bus from the train station to the hotel and the walk was a little further than I anticipated. In the guest information book, it indicates the availability of a hotel transport to the train station but when I inquired, the desk clerk said it was not available. Overall, it wasn't a terrible experience but I don't know that I would stay here for more than a night or two.

Very clean, comfortable and popular(very busy) hotel.Understaffed (or no staff during much of the day) and very busy at breakfast when groups all want to eat at same time. Best to wait for breakfast until at least after 8.30am.Choice of continental breakfast items can be almost zero at times as limited staff have difficulty replenishing items timely. I didn't realise until 3rd day of stay that boiled eggs should be available-they were always not available the first 2 days-consumed by a group but not replenished. There was a group calling themselves 'Road Scholars' those 2 days who cleared most of the buffet food and not all the items were replaced or not in the time we were there for breakfast anyway. This group was a (very) loud (elderly) American group who not only spoke loudly to each other but thought nothing of shouting to other members on other side of breakfast room disregarding other hotel guests. Good value for a 3 star hotel as the choice is limited in Brig if you want to be near the rail station-this hotel is handy for that and is in a quiet residential area with nice views

This is a comfortable hotel with nice views of the park and the Schloss. Our room on the 1st floor had a beautiful view on the castle and its gardens, which was great. The rooms were reasonably spacious, very clean, with good views, the staff friendly and helpful. It is less than 10 minutes walk from the station. The breakfast was good and consisted of cereals, bread, cakes, drink and other continental-type foods and drink. WiFi was included, and was offered during check-in.

The hotel is attractive from the outside and in a pleasant location near a park. Our room was large with a large balcony, but the bathroom badly needed refurbishment; the shower was attached to the wall at an awkward angle and the shower curtain was hanging loose over a narrow bath. Breakfast was disappointing; there was not a large choice and some fruit was unripe.the bread was good, though.

Convenient Hotel For The Railway Station

We chose to stay at this hotel for three nights whilst taking rail journeys in the area and we were not disappointed. The hotel is well situated just off of the pedestrian precinct at the top of the town and a 10 minute walk from the railway station. There are restaurants, bars and a co-op supermarket near by and Brig is a very pleasant place to arrive at.

We had a superior room for our stay which was very spacious and comfortable, overlooking the Town Hall and mountains. The room did us well for our stay.

Breakfast turned out to be a bit of a scrum as most of the other guest were on coach tours and breakfasted early, meaning some of the breakfast choice had gone, especially the croissants. Despite the advertised breakfast time being from 07:30 most of the other guest were in well before this time which made it difficult to get a table and get out to catch our trains.

Apart from this we enjoyed our stay.

We stayed in room 101 which didn't have a bad view but the hotel is very outdated. We were a bit shocked when we arrived at the hotel and it looked very different to what we thought. The good - Good location, nice breakfast, and very affordable. The bad - internet connection is very poor, rooms are outdated and pictures are not an accurate.

Charming hotel...

Great experience as a single female traveller. The room was very cute and clean, and I had a view of a beautiful mountain side from the window. The staff was very kind, even though I didn't speak a word of Swiss German/French/Italian. When i almost missed breakfast, the receptionist called me to remind me that breakfast time would soon end. Located in the beautiful town of Brig-Glis, I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone needing a place to stay.
