This was a FANTASTIC stay in Grindelwald, the location was perfect, the room was clean and spacious, great restaurants and bars around with good access to public transport. Parking and breakfast was a great added bonus! We paid extra for a Mountain View and it was well worth it.

The staff were so so helpful, they gave us recommendations, were accommodating and friendly during breakfast, check-in and checkout.

Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone travelling to Grindelwald.

Seriously, amazing place and amazing stay. The staff there are very nice and helpful. You get a free continental breakfast each morning which was lovely. The room was spacious and clean. It’s located in the heart of the town, which was perfect for walking to restaurants, bars, shops and a short walk to Grindelwald first and Pfingstegg cable cars for the zipling and tobaggan. We didn’t have a balcony in our room but they set up a patio in the back with amazing views of the mountains where you can hang out and relax. Can’t recommend Tschuggen enough!

Wow! This hotel was such a great find on Expedia!! We booked 8 months ahead of our trip! For being centrally located on the main drag in Grindelwald, the price of this hotel was unbeatable! People don’t stay in Grindelwald due to the cost/night, but this find is relatively budget friendly, super clean, and comfortable, with breakfast included. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful! The view from our room was absolutely breathtaking (north face of the Eiger)!! I’d go back to this hotel in a heartbeat! It’s an easy walk from the train station, bus station and First Mtn Gondola. All other activities like Jungfraujoch and Glacier Canyon are super easy to get to by walking, bus, or train!

Wonderful views from our room! very close to the train station. Lots of shops and dining options nearby. There’s also a coop by the train station. staff were all great! Bfast is same everyday but enough variety to satisfy. The only thing I was uncomfortable with were the bedsheets. It felt rough for me and scratchy but this might just be personal preference. Also, not sure about the noise upstairs. We were supposedly on the top floor but we can definitely hear footsteps. Other than that, we we’re happy and would definitely stay here again when we come back!

We loved our six night stay at Hotel Tshuggen and Grindelwald. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. We had a room on the first floor with a balcony and a beautiful view out to Mt Eiger. It was a short walk to the train station which gave us access to most of the attractions and ski fields, and a short walk in the opposite direction to FirstBahn. Breakfast was included in the room tariff and was a selection of cereals, yogurt, fruit, cheese, bread and croissants and deli meats, along with a variety of teas and coffee, and orange juice. It was a lovely way to start the day.

La propiedad está bastante buena ,lo que vieja ,deberían de arreglarla un poco ,por ejemplo las alfombras del cuarto #17 que fue el que nos quedamos está sucia y vieja ,los colchones malísimos y que decir de las almohadas ,mejores que esas las he botado(horribles en verdad )
La propiedad las atiende un matrimonio (no se si son los dueños on no )son los que te reciben y los que preparan y sirven el desayuno en las mañanas .
El desayuno es bien limitado ,te dan un huevo hervido x persona ,y una cesta de panes de diferentes tipos que q todos no nos gustan (en mi caso solo me gustaba un tipo de pan )pides otro pan y te ponen mala cara ,y te dicen que no tienen más cuando después cuando van llegando las otras personas ,le dan (o sea que si había lo que no te dan más )ponen un poco de jamón queso en fin para mi entender no es un buen desayuno y uno se siente cohibido .Para el precio de la propiedad pensé que todo iba a ser mucho mejor ,fue todo por debajo de nuestras espectativas .
La vista de mi ventana espectacular ,si quieres amanecer con una viste increíble en el balcón este es el lugar .
También quiero agregar que justo al lado hay un bar a a veces son las tres de la madrugada y están tomando riendo y hablando altísimo y no te dejan dormir ,pues como no tiene aire acondicionado ni elevador (maletas escaleras arriba)tienes que dormir con las ventanas abiertas .
No soy de hacer comentarios pero si quise hacerlo
Pues me pareció el lugar demasiado caro para lo que brindan

We asked for a quiet room but were given a room next to noisy breakfast area so we’re awaken every morning at 6:30am. We could also hear everything upstairs. If you are claustrophobic, the room height is very low. Breakfast compromised of yogurt, bread, fruit and cofeee (no eggs) Room also had mosquitos and spiders.

Great location with a million $ view. The rooms were very clean, spacious and comfortable. Staff was very helpful and friendly. It was like being in nature and yet close to everything. Lots of good restaurants within 2 minutes and train station 10 minutes. First was just down the street and train was one stop to top of Europe. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The staff was very friendly and extremely helpful. The building is a little dated but the location is great. It is within 5min walk from the station and there are lots of restaurant/cafe options right outside the door. The FIRST cable car station is just down the road and Pfingsteg cable station is another 5minutes.

Charming and Welcoming place to say in Grindewald

Delightful! Easy walk from the train station, situated in the middle of town. Monica, the proprietor is so friendly and welcoming. The rooms are clean and tidy, and I had the fortune of a lovely balcony view. Breakfast is included with the room and very traditional with fruit, cold cuts, hard boiled eggs and breads. The hotel felt safe for a solo traveler.

Open the window or door, and you can see three snow-capped mountains. This is a very valuable experience in my life. By the afternoon of that day, the rain had passed and the sky was clear, and the sky was beautiful. The administrator is very enthusiastic. Living in a separate second floor for our family of three is very luxurious and free. I hope everyone can experience it.

Perfect location and a breathtaking view from my single panoramic room. The hotel was very cosy and quiet and kept clean. The train station, restaurants and First cable car were only a very short walk away. Staff were very attentive, and breakfast was lovely. I caught a nasty cold en-route to Switzerland so I was not able to do much during my short solo trip but hopefully I'll return with some friends to show them what I was grateful to experience while I was there!

The staff is very nice to offer late check in and breakfast box as we have early check out on the last day. The location is very convenient to train station and FIRST. The room is clean and look exactly the same as photos. You can view Eiger from the balcony. The environment is very quiet since evening. You are able to view stars from your balcony.

Great location and beautiful indulgent breakfast. Parking a tight squeeze on site on a reasonable slope. We had a cold front come through the night before leaving making the drive an ice skating rink
Ask the host for help as I wouldnt be able to drive up the driveway with out chains in our small hire car
He didn’t seem to concerned for us about sliding into another car or building and reluctantly assisted to help with chains when asked for help
Only as we finally got up the slippery driveway he decided it was time to spread salt on the icy path

I can have a good experience at this property but I did not like the owners. they were not friendly at all. We asked for extra towels because we need one for praying but they were not friendly in giving and make you feel as if you are asking something weird although it was just a towel. we have stayed at so many places and no one make faces for giving a towel. Also for the breakfast I want to sit on the table where I want which everyone usually does but the owners literally pick up your bowl and put on other table and ask you sit there which does not make sense. the other table was not even reserved so I don't see why there was an issue for me to sit there.

Room was smelly as if t hasn’t been ventilated for a while after cooking food. You have to call to check in which is pretty inconvenience. No elevator, bed was not comfortable, also, the bedclothes is old and smelly just like the room. It was really unpleasant stay overall. Google reviews are so good, though. Unbelievable.

Got there earlier. The reception only opened free 1:30 pm. Quick check in. But no lift, have to carry heavy suitcases to 2nd floor. No room service. After check in, no follow up. Couldn’t ask for anything, not an iron since no one at the reception. Breakfast are fair. Asked for hot chocolate but milk was not warm nor hot at all. Not much choices, bread were cold and hard. Location was good. No fridge. Good views. Squeaky floor, woke up by neighbors early in the mornings.

Room with a view.

It was handy to the train station. Looked old on the outside but the interior was new. Our room had a marvellous view if the Eiger even in the clouds. Clean comfortable and QUIET. Breakfast was honey and friendly and we were given a packed breakfast when we left early. The couple that ran it were friendly band helpful

Outstanding visit

We appreciate the kindness and helpfulness of our host and hostess. On the last day, they prepared a picnic lunch as we had to leave early for a train ride to the top. Breakfast was very good. Room was small but very comfortable and quiet. Great view from our patio.

My husband and I stayed in a small room facing the city. Our room shared a bathroom with another room. The room was small and nothing special. The shared bathroom was clean and I didn't have any troubles or concerns with it. The staff was friendly and also offered a bit for breakfast and served you. Overall, a little more then we would have liked to spend for this type of place without a view, but that is Switzerland I guess.

This is a cute little mountain hotel with free parking and breakfast included. The rooms are basic and it is a quiet hotel that includes bed, and a small bathroom but that is all that is needed really. Within walking distance to First Cliffwalk by Tissot lift. Would stay here again if in Grindelwald. Staff was friendly as well

Hotel is in a good location, 5 min from station. It is clean and efficiently run, but there are some significant drawbacks: The rooms are tiny and the bathroom/shower are even tinier! Bathroom towels are not changed. There is no day room where you could read a book or work on the internet, although they have a beautiful breakfast room, which they lock at 10 AM! The lobby is also tiny with the staff only really visible in the AM. It reminds you more of a high level youth hostel rather than a hotel. A highlight is the breakfast which offers good coices.

This accommodation was more than that, it felt like a home. The owners were accessible and so very accommodating. Overall they were genuinely interested in how we were and what they could do for us. The beds were so very comfortable, warm all the time, views of the valley to die for and the bathroom faciltites amazing. The breakfast was also a welcoming experience. I cannot wait to go back again! Thank you!

Receptionist was not friendly. I reached hotel at abt 830pm where there was nobody at hotel with the main door locked while during booking it was stated that receptionist closed after 9pm. after waiting, someone came and entertained us. we were pointed at the building next door with staircase indicating that was our room while the receptionist shown no interest to bring us up there and no assistance rendered to us and our children to assist to our luggages. even though I asked him to bring us up to the hotel room as it was dark and with outdoor stairs yet surprisingly he said \"no need\". that's the way he rejected his customers....

Room was indeed spacious and clean yet the hot water did not worked well in the winter. we have 4 people, after 2 people bath the hot water failed. we found there wasn't phone in the room and we have no means to contact the hotel keeper and no more receptionist......

Hotel location was good and along the main street. I could find lots of hotel along the main street and I seriously felt that there must be lots of better choices nearly.

Great Stay At Tschuggen

We stayed at the Tschuggen 4 nights on a recent trip to Grindelwald. We stayed in Room 9 with a Eiger View. And what a view it was. It was great sitting out on the deck just looking at the mountain views. Very friendly place. Nice breakfast in the morning.I would definitely recommend this place.

Exceptional Owners, Wonderful Hotel

We stayed four nights and cannot give enough positive reviews for this hotel. In a tourist centric town the Tschuggen feels like home. Our mountain view room was quiet, comfortable and very clean. The generous breakfast was delicious and our hosts went out of their way to assist. Thank you Tschuggen owners and staff!

It was only 5min walk from the station. However, the staff in front desk ( a guy) and breakfast area lady was not friendly. Fake smile and only friendly to people who speak their language. We asked local interest, the front desk didnt answer our questions clearly so we ended up going to tourist center instead.
Great view from the room but not worth of 140 CHF per night.

Accommodations are particularly pricey in Grindelwald and Hotel Tschuggen was the best of the affordable options. 5 min walk, with luggage, from the train station. 5 minute walk, in gear, to First Gondola/ticket booth for lift passes. The included breakfast buffet is authentic and literally the highlight of our day. If you arrive and leave at inconvenient hours, they'll store your luggage until your departure. Hotel Tschuggen has been around for longer than most, so it's quite simply, an affordable, friendly, comfortable place to rest and fuel up for hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, Nordic skiing etc. If you want the spa treatment and fine-dining experience, I suggest you pay double/triple and stay across the street. We paid $130/night for a double with a view and loved it. Robert and the entire staff of 3 give it their all. Best deal in town. I'll stay here every time.

Centrally located, friendly and well run hotel.

Centrally located, family run hotel. Very good, friendly service. We visit Grindelwald for skiing every year and stay in different hotels. This is one we can highly recommend.

The room is clean and comfortable. Walking distance to both train station and First. Convenient for going around. Close to 2 supermarkets and lots of restaurants nearby. Friendly staff.

Lovely hotel, central to all local amenities.

The owners were lovely. I upgraded to a single room with a shower and toilet and a balcony overlooking the Eiger, it was well worth it. The breakfast was very good and set me up for the whole days excursions.. The wifi worked well and I slept well also. All in all a lovely place to stay and enjoy Grindenwald and the surrounding mountains and countryside.

Fantastic hotel, stunning views

What a lovely hotel in the heart of Grindelwald. Family run and super friendly. Check in was quick and efficient from the very friendly owner. Very spacious room with the most stunning view of the north face of the Eiger. V comfy bed and great shower in the bathroom. Buffet breakfast served with a smile and quick, hassle-free check out. 5 mins walk to the station. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Brilliant.

Except no elevator which I required to move my luggage to 2nd floor, everything not bad (just I expected the staff would help move the luggages)
