The pictures in your website do not corrispond to the room where stayed. See attached the photos of the room we got. There is no shower and the standard is completely different from what showed in the photos. Not to mention that it was not clean and we had to ask to change the sheets as the bed was covered in short dark hair.

In all honesty, it wasn't what we expect from the booking.
We would appreciate to get some compensation for this misrepresentation. Please let us know

Wonderful stay at Cain Valley Hotel

We had a wonderful stay at Cain Valley Hotel. The room was perfect for our needs, breakfast was fantastic and we loved the fact it was cooked to order. We ate in the pub restaurant both nights, too and couldn’t fault either of the meals we had - fantastic quality and huge portions. Will definitely be returning!

Stayed for 2 nights, room was a nice size. Bed was comfy. Shower struggled to get hot so was just warm and is quite small. The TV is tiny they defo could do with bigger ones. We stayed on the half board option and evening meals were delicious, breakfast was good too.

Cosy room oozing with character.. The staff upon check-in (and check-out of course) were great.. helped us to our room, showed us everything we needed to know.. the room was spotless, luckily for me as I forgot mine, toiletries were provided, including shower gel and shampoo.. I was performing at a local event and was back late but that was absolutely fine and nice and easy upon getting back to my room.

Will definitely stay again.

The Cain Valley is steeped in tradition and about as far from todays modern chain hotels as you can get. Great service, fair prices, good beer and enthusiastic staff. Very much a breath of fresh air.

Its also well frequented by the locals - which is usually a good sign. but can get a little noisy at closing time. So recommend you ask for a room not over the Public Bar.

We had no hot water in the shower for our 2 days stay, apparently due to lots of people showering at the same time yet tryed at midnight still no hot water. Note to hotel clean the plug hole in the sink its black with dirt. Found a dirty wet towel by the plugs near the kettle Room itself comfy. No much noise from the pub downstairs.
Staff very friendly. Girls at breakfast service excellent.

Lovely quirky old hotel but bathroom layout poor, could do with removing bath and putting a shower only, it would be much safer.
Reception lady at 2pm was very abrupt and just said “check in not till 3” we only wanted to let her know we had parked in the patrons only car park. Breakfast staff and checking out lady, lovely.

Great customer service & lovely food. Recommended.

Very welcoming and accommodating host and staff. The Hotel is extremely old and stooped in history, making it a popular local watering hole too, which is always a good sign. The restaurant food in the evening was superb and an excellent breakfast the next morning was included in the price of our stay. Thanks to the Chef. Our room was at the top of the hotel, which meant lots of stairs. Being of a certain age group with health issues, my wife didn’t find this particularly easy. However, the staff were more than happy to help with our luggage. Great customer service! Being an old building, please be aware that some of floors are not even, meaning my bed was not quite level. I just mention that in passing as it really would not stop us staying here again and again. Very handy for the centre of Llanfyllin and surrounding areas in particularly beautiful Welsh countryside. Thank you yet another pleasant stay and for the kind reception. Highly recommended if visiting this area.

A wonderfully quirky & historical hotel

A wonderfully quirky & historical hotel. No two parts of the flors seem to be level with each other - but as it's a 17th Century building, that's to be expected and what I love about the place.

Room was large (we were in a family room with a King Size double & two single beds) with a separate seating area with a comfy two seat settee opposite decent sized TV.

Bathroom was equally large size with double washbasin.

Food was both great tasting and large portions with real ale for meals, too.

Breakfast seved on hot plates (which is something that other hotels could learn from) with local produce used.

Back in the 70's this was one of my drinking venues as it was one of the closest places to their caravan that served a decent pint of cask ale. Whilst it's been updated in certain areas over the years, the wood panelling in the bar & other areas that add to the Cain Valley's charm are still there & it's great to renew memories

Decent short break option.

The hotel needs a bit of tlc but it was comfortable and clean. The food and drinks were excellent and very well priced. Overall this is a convenient place to stay to visit the nearby Vyrnwy and Bala lakes with amazing countryside everywhere you look.

We really enjoyed our stay. There's a restaurant and bar downstairs, you don't need to leave the building which was exactly what we were looking for after a long day. It's a sleepy little village in a beautiful location and a great base to go exploring.

The room we stayed in was huge, we booked a double and it had a insanely comfortable bed, sofa, TV, dressing table and coffee making facilities.

Excellent value for money and I'd stay there again. Thank you

Quiet, quaint hotel in a small village. I felt very safe walking in and around the hotel at night. Room was comfortable with ample space and coffe station. If you drive here there is ample parking in rear of building. Breakfast (included) was fresh and delicious with pleasant staff in all aspects of running the hotel. Will definitely return.

The staff were very friendly and caring. I had injured my back and they offered extra pillows to try to help. We had a comfortable clean room. Not a lot of outlets but enough to charge our phones and do what we needed. Our room had a huge bathtub but no shower. We ate dinner in the restaurant. The steak and ale pie with vegetables was delicious. Breakfast included lots of options ranging from cereals to full English with tea, coffee and juices. Plenty of choices to suit everyone. This was a beautiful old building with beams. We would stay here again.

Review of the Cain Valley Hotel

The Hotel is fine but the Accommodation part has been described as Superb by some other reviewers but it is not that in my idea of superb having stopped in quite a few places. But having said that is was pleasant and the staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble. Few downsides were our room was above the kitchen so we could hear everything at night and at closing time could hear people talking outside our room which woke us again. Our room also had no shower or shower attachment on wall over bath). But is you are after a place for the night without too many expectations as a base for exploring, walking, cycling etc in nearby resorts like Bala, Lake Vyrnwy etc it is fine.

Traditional hotel in a charming little town. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Lovely period building with a nice bar and lounge. Room was a very good size but a little cold given its period features and time of year. TV was small given size and layout of room. Would definitely stay again.

I would go out of my way to stay here again

This was a great stay. The staff were excellent everywhere, check in, bar, breakfast. The food was very good eve meal and breakfast. My room was spacious with good bed good duvet and pillows. It had loads of character with bnig wood beams in the ceiling. on site free parking. I was very appreciative that they went the extra mile by allowing me a slightly early breakfast. Be awar Wi Fi in rooms poor, my room only had bath nor shower.

The hotel is old with lots of character. We took our dog with us and it was very dog friendly. We were in room 2 which was a twin room at the front with two large windows that made the room bright, only stopped one night but had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant and we enjoyed both meals

Great stay in a dog-friendly family room

We stayed in a family room with our daughter and also our small dog. The room was huge with loads of space and nicely furnished and very clean. It was a very hot night but the hotel provided us with 2 fans which really helped. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice.

Good hotel for a short break.

Easy checkin, friendly staff. Room was spacious, clean and the bed was comfortable. The decor was a little bit dated and tired but it wouldn't put me off staying here again. Breakfast was good they were able to provide me with a Vegan cooked breakfast.
