A night away!

Food was wonderful. Room was very clean, with a lovely tray of tea, coffee and biscuits. They have an information pack in the room that gives all relevant information. They have information available for walks in the local area. It is in the middle of nowhere, so use the restaurant if here for a night.

Our stay was fabulous. The food is 12/10
We had our dog with us so we had to eat in the bar but it has a roaring fire and a lovely atmosphere and I’d argue this was the best seat in the house.
Our room was in a little outbuilding and it was just perfect. Super quiet of a night too. The servers are all very young and the best and most smiley service I’ve had in a long time

Had to go downstairs at 1.20 am as the locals were still drinking in the bar and our suite was right above. The sound was such that I could hear a bag of crisps being opened below, let alone people talking.
Locals agreed to leave, but I couldn’t get to sleep until 2.am.
Woken up around 7.30 by more sound from below!
When I complained the next morning I was told that I shouldn’t have booked online, and that this was normal to have locals in at that time of night. I was also made to feel that it was my fault!
To be fair we were eventually given a smaller but quieter room which was fine.
The food, staff and hotel was lovely and I would recommend the place, but you would have to insist on NOT getting the room above the bar.
On checkout I thought we might have had a token deduction from the bill for our trouble, but instead I was told to phone next time to make sure I got a quiet room.

Our stay was for one night. The room was cosy and comfortable, both the room and the bathroom were cleaned to a very high standard. We had dinner in the restaurant at the venue, it was a very enjoyable meal. The waiting staff were very pleasant and polite, nothing was too much trouble. The room included breakfast, which again was a very high standard. Overall a very enjoyable overnight stay. I would recommend The Hand as a place to eat and stay. Do you need a car to get there though.

Lovely stay -superb food

Great unspoiled location for exploring/walking in the area. Room and bathroom were spacious (but we would have preferred a shower to bath). Superb evening meal and best ever hotel breakfast (absolute, top quality ingredients). Poor sound insulation -could here conversations in next room and noise from bar, (not that it was rowdy or late). Friendly restaurant staff.

I'll go through in the order I encountered stuff. First, the location. Beautiful. Lovely village with pleasant walks to be had from the door. Next, the staff. Just lovely - all of them. I had to work on the first night and was looking at beer and crisps for my evening meal. The person on duty (so sorry, never got a name) prepared me a 'cheese plate' that was a lot more than it sounds (even had a big chunk of that lovely fruit jelly stuff that goes so well with cheese and that places usually skimp on). Turned a potentially miserable evening into an extremely pleasant one. Now, the room. Gorgeous. Spacious, clean, and comfortable. Bath with shower/tap arrangement may not suit everybody, but I managed just fine. Food? Well, I didn't really get a chance to sample the full range (this hotel prides itself on it's food) due to the working thing - but the cheese plate was gorgeous and the breakfasts most excellent. I thoroughly recomment the place and will certainly stay there again if I get the chance.

The room was tiny, no power to the shower water trickled out, the food was not good i didunt finish a single meal, we can to go through the bar area to get to our room and lots of locals standing at the bar it felt unsafe with Covid so i would not go back again the best part of the visit is the beautiful location but hotel not for us

As we approached the village in the dusk through wonderful countryside the Inn was all lit up and I thought we were in Brigadoon !

Mostly very good but comfortable bed and reasonably sized room. Let down by the shower pressure! I know this is a out of the way location but still! Breakfast ok but not amazing! Overall this was an expensive stay that should have been perfect but sadly whilst good...it didn’t quite meet expectations.

Hotel to get away from it all with excellent food

Sat nav took us down a quite challenging single track, but there were better routes out and we loved the setting, so not really complaining. Stunning, peaceful location. Superb food, range of beers and quality wine. A roaring fire in the bar and comfy room with fab views. Choice of bar or dining room for eating - both equally lovely.

Only a stale jug of milk on the windowsill, a hair clip under the bed and some hairs in a drawer stopped me from rating it higher in terms of cleanliness, but bed and bathroom were clean and fresh.

Comfy bed, breakfast staff particularly friendly and the food really is exceptional - especially loved the porridge with a touch of whiskey followed by kippers ( though I had the last lot).

Would highly recommend - particularly if you want to be away from it all, but with access to excellent walking country.

Another lovely pub across the road if you want variety.

Charming rural retreat

The Hand is a lovely quaint countryside Inn. It is in a remote but charming village, surrounded by beautiful countryside. The Inn itself is quaint and old fashioned. Be prepared that Wifi is poor and phone signal was non-existent, but if you're happy to have an off-line break then its a great spot. The room was spacious and comfortable. Our room only had a free-standing bath and no shower, which may not suit everyone but we liked the old fashioned charm of it. The bar was welcoming and cosy, and the restaurant was excellent. If you are planning to explore Snowdonia and the surrounding region then this is delightful place to rest up, eat an excellent meal, enjoy a drink and relax for the night.

Very nice hotel way off the beaten path.\n

This is a great hotel way off the beaten path. The staff was great with everything. I really enjoyed talking with them. Dinner was amazing. The rooms are very nice as well. If you don't mind a little bit of a drive on one lane roads this is a great place.to go to. The day I went there was a pheasant out in the field and lambs playing around. A more country scene you couldn't ask for. The bit of snow the next morning could have been left out however.

Wouldn't recommend for a winter visit

Our bedroom & bathroom were absolutely freezing. We had to ask for heaters after the first night which they gave us otherwise we were going to check out. The public areas were also cold.Food was erratic, one morning the porridge was made with milk (very nice) but the next day it was made from water (unpleasant), we also had an inedible sorbet. Staff were, however, with one exception very pleasant and helpful, hotel nicely decorated.

A lovely pub/ hotel, with very friendly staff, excellent food, although the portions were way too large for me. A very comfortable room with stunning views, lots of tea, coffee and water in the room. It is a bit isolated but the drive through the valley is very scenic

Overall ok.

We have recently just come home from staying at the hand hotel.
Our overall stay was good, mainly because the food was fantastic!
The not so good points were:
Not being informed the spa was closed that day.
Our room was freezing upon arrival and most of the time we were in the room.
We had a disabled toilet and shower room.
The restaurant was cold to sit in.
A bottle of sparkling water was open in our room.
I think if we were to visit again we would only go for something to eat. We couldn't fault the food at all!!!

Fantastic, quiet, beautiful location.

Staff were all friendly and helpful. The restaurant served wonderful food. Both dinner and breakfast were terrific. Lots of walks in the area. A welcome respite from crowded, touristy attractions. Maybe not much for small children to do. (We didn't have any.)

Lovely country pub.

Gorgeous country pub. Super clean rooms and lovely remote location. Cosy bar area. Only negatives were a strange smell in the dining room and the fact that breakfast is served from 8.30 which is very late. Staff did try very hard by offering to show me the toaster and bread but settled for bread and butter in the room which I took up the night before. Lovely young girl who went out of her way to be helpful.

I was singing in the International Eisteddfod in nearby Llangollen and the hotel was convenient - not too far away in quiet and beautiful surroundings. The hotel kindly let us get our own breakfast one day and the food was delicious.

Your advertisement showed a picture of a large bedroom, so based on that I booked the hotel. However, when I arrived I had been allocated the smallest
room. So please in future amend the photo or make it clear that this is the best room.
The hotel was full, so I could not change.

Lovely dog friendly hotel

Stayed for one night, we received a wonderful warm welcome and were shown to our lovely high standard room.

It is great to stay in such a nice place which allows dog to stay as well.

We are a fantastic meal in the bar and breakfast the next morning was excellent.

Overall a fantastic hotel, with great helpful and friendly staff.
