There was dust on the fan in the bathroom, but other than that the room was clean, tidy and comfortable. The breakfast was great with a good selection and everything being checked for refills regularly. The staff were great, friendly and helpful from check in, the bar to breakfast. We didn’t use the spa or swimming pool. Would stay here again.

Booked because of the spa, such a disappointment. Tiles missing out of the steam room, only noticed as it wasn’t working, not one shower in the spa area working, had to go into changing rooms to shower down after sauna etc. water fountain not working. Changing rooms not much better, locker had key code locking, difficult to find one that actually worked, hair drier not working either. Such a shame it’s being run down as could be stunning.

Sadly, our trip was not possible due to high snowfall and traffic disruption. I messaged the hotel to say the roads were impassable and asked them to refund or move my booking to a later date. Not even an answer despite a follow up mail.

I stayed here for work. 1st night, the room was clean but quite basic. I got woken up at 12.15 am by a group of drunken men who didn’t stop with their noise until 5 am. I told reception the next day and they moved me to a much better and quieter room the next day. Food was excellent in the restaurant. I didn’t try the spa. Staff very welcoming.

Had a lovely stay at this hotel the room was spotless and staff were great, breakfast was also very good as much as you could eat and all fresh and hot.
The facilities are also great, pool was warm and we made good use of the sauna and jacuzzi all our towels were provided fresh and clean, however I couldn't find a working locker in the changing rooms and another customer told me that was a common issue.
We booked two evenings at the waterside restaurant which is part of the hotel but a separate building, the first evening we had crispy chilli chicken and although very pleasant we felt the portions were very small however on our second visit we had the beef burger with fries and we can definitely recommend it very tasty and more than enough to fill a hungry traveller. Unfortunately on a down side the furniture let it down there were stained chairs throughout the restaurant and that was a shame it lowered the experience of our evening. Also unfortunately we were surprised to find it was card only payments but after a little negotiation we managed to pay by cash although we were told we could not have any change from our bill and that's worth remembering if you like us wanted to pay the old fashioned way.

Overall a great hotel let down by a couple of minor points in the spa gym. I couldn't find a single locker door that would lock and the water was off while work was being done on the system. Listening to some local people chatting amongst themselves, this doesn't sound unusual. The pool and the sauna, however, were fabulous.

We stopped here about 4 years ago. It was tired then but it was clean, the staff were friendly and the food was fantastic.
We often stop at Oswestry on our way to visit family in Powys. We Will not be stopping here again!
On arrival the receptionist was \"busy\" chatting with her colleagues in the office opposite. Despite being aware we were there she still didn't come to check us in for at least 5 minutes. Just the welcome you want after a long drive and needing toilet extra.
We asked for a quiet room and despite this we were given 224 on the fist floor in the middle of the corridor with rooms above and below and the balcony door didn't shut properly so you could here traffic from the main road all night as well as all the other guests coming and going slamming doors dropping toilet seats coughing and anything else people get up to in hotel rooms.
The bedding was clean but other than that the room was filthy. Thick dust down sides and under furniture, black mold in shower and on shower head marks all over paintwork and I would have required gloves if I needed to pick up the phone.
We went to the restaurant for our evening meal and after spending £100 on mediocre food and fairly bland service we left to return to the room. We asked at reception on the way back if we could have a late check out (as they had given us one on our previous visit) she said yes for £25 for 2 hours....we declined, and with all the noise we were glad we did.
We went to lukewarm breakfast. Not good!

Stayed here for a Valentine’s night away. Overall a good stay, just a few things that could be improved. Checked in and was given the wrong room, went back down to reception and was told they’d checked us into a different room, and lucky that nobody was in there!!! Gave us the correct room and it was pleasant, however there was a ladybug infestation, around 20-30 on the doors/curtains!!! Took us a while to get them all out, but after an hour swimming, came back to the room finding more had come in, and flying round the room, think that needs to be looked at, room 305.

The first night was lovely and put us in the mind set that we were going to have a brilliant stay.
Al most of the staff were really good there was one or two that didn't have amazing costmer service and found it but a little bit of a downer on are stay.

A smile and a helping hand means a lot and just how something is said can make so much of a difference.

And its not fair on all the other staff that are doing an amazing job to be put down by one or tow bad eggs.

The place is very pretty and an a good place to go.

The room was clean, the pool area was lovely. But of advice, if you are fussy with pillows, take your own! Theirs were as flat as pancakes! We booked a canal view but didnt get one. The hotel wouldnt do anything the next morning as we hadnt said anything the previous night. I explained it was dark! My issue was, we booked and paid extra for a canal view and they knew we hadnt had one..so surely they should see that as their mistake.
The pool area was really nice and relaxing, cant fault it. The communal toilets could have done with a good clean! All in all a nice stay

Food was good, varied menu. Afternoon and evening menu was goid. Breakfast had plenty of variations and was self-service. ( Even people in PJ's getting food)
Tables not cleaned properly,they felt sticky. Furniture was in a poor state, dirty chairs, however there did seem to be some newish ones, but we were unfortunately given a table with dirty chairs.
The bedroom was below average, bed base was sticking out on the one side and not clipped together, marks on the wall, I'm not sure if they are being decorated but the paint work was patchy with blue showing through the lighter top coat.
Dusty lamp shades .. unfortunately the housekeeping or the accommodation was not up to a 4* rating.
Very disappointed.

The room was clean, modern, and comfortable. The shower was excellent, and really appreciated the heated towel rack. We also had a pleasant experience at the bar, and the breakfast was very good—especially as they were able to accommodate my gluten-free requirements.

The only downside was that the corridors felt a bit outdated, and noise carried quite easily. We could hear activity from both the hallway and the neighbouring room.

When we arrived we booked a table in the restaurant for 7.45, we checked in to our room and it was filthy, carpet was dirty and full of stains, skirting boards hadn’t seen a cloth for a long time, room was cold as the heating controls were not working, we asked for a portable heater but Wes told none on site, bathroom was very tired and in desperate need of a re furb, we arrived at the restaurant for 7.45 as booked only to be told that it wasn’t 7.45 but 8.30 the booking had been made for. When we returned back to the room we were so cold we had to get under the bed cover with our clothes on, really not happy I called reception to complain and within 10 minutes a portable heater arrived and we also requested an additional duvet which we had. This is our second visit at this hotel but unfortunately will not be staying again and will not be recommending it either. This hotel in my opinion should have no more than a two star rating and certainly not the four star that it advertise.

We had a wonderful stay from start to finish. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome throughout our visit. We especially enjoyed the indoor pool, which was a great bonus. In the evening, we dined at the waterfront restaurant opposite the hotel and the food was absolutely delicious.

Our room was spotless and comfortable, with great blackout blinds and an exceptionally comfy bed that ensured a perfect night’s sleep. We woke refreshed and enjoyed the included buffet breakfast, which offered a wide variety of tasty food and drinks.

Overall, we had a brilliant experience and would happily return again in the future. Highly recommended!

Simple additions like slow closing doors so they don't slam and soundproofing the noise from adjacent rooms, as they are very easy to hear. Check-in was rapid and handled by consistently friendly staff.
The room was of standard size, though the bathroom was notably small. Temperature control relied on an aging water-heater unit that required some effort to understand. Several cosmetic defects were present, including paint splashes on curtains, walls, and power outlets. Light leakage from the corridor was significant, and noise insulation was inadequate; conversations, coughing, and even restroom use from nearby rooms were clearly audible.

The bathroom’s layout was inefficient, requiring the door to be closed before the toilet could be used. Cleanliness was acceptable, and towels were provided in adequate quantity and size.

Breakfast offered a wide range of options with good overall taste. Food outside breakfast was of high quality. Although the hotel contains a gym, spa, and other facilities, these were not used and cannot be assessed.

All staff interactions were polite, friendly, and efficient.
No issues occurred beyond the structural and acoustic limitations already noted.

Value for money is reasonable when using only the room and breakfast. Guests who take advantage of the additional facilities may experience improved overall worth.

After seeing the online pictures, we couldnt wait to come and stay, but what a disapointment. The place looked nothing like the pictures online. The spa was dirty, hot tub....I couldnt even see my feet the water was so dirty, over half of the jets did not work and there were limited bubbles. The plaster was peeling off the roof, some light fittings were falling out of the holes in the roof. Information about the spa and resort is online and not very user friendly. We had food in the resort restraunt, very dissapointing, cutlery and glasses were dirty. The quality was poor and the table was sticky and dirty. Breakfast the next day was not much better. Everythong was self service and not much assistance from staff. The grounds and pathways around the resort were worn and shabby looking. The room was clean overall, although we did find blood stains on the patio door on the outside and railings of patio were rusty. Decore of hotel is dated and musty smelling. Staff at reception had no uniform and did not look or act professionally. Very dissapointed and would not recommend and would not stay againt.

Room looked tired and was in need of updating and shower floor needed a full re-grout. But the restaurant and bar area were lovely and the food was surprisingly good. Had to send my starter back, as despite declaring I was a coeliac 3 times, on booking, on entry to the restaurant and again on ordering, they still sent it out with normal bread on. Once highlighted though the staff were quick to send it back and it was re-made which was good. So often the offending item is simply removed, but I was happy they remade it. The staff were lovely too. And the food was surprisingly good. Yes the hotel is tired, we didn't use the spa so couldn't comment, but we had a lovely stay anyway.

Hi firstly going into winter driving into the property there is not much lighting with early nights. I initially parked hy the gym, unloaded my bags and went into gym thinking it was the hotel. I thought just me being daft but there qere at least four others i saw do this also.

I would say the dining and drink options were satisfactory but would not say the service or staff was more than that. The food was enjoyable. However as a table of 1 to be charged a service charge of £5 on my bill did not sit well with me when the service i received was ok at best. What is the encluragement for the team yo go above and beyond and provide great service if theyve already got a service charge from me. Yes i know it states discretionary on the bill, however as im sure your aware most will not ask for it to be removed. For me it is the principal of it.

Beautiful room with a gorgeous view
Hotel staff were very friendly.
Delicious breakfast too
The spa and pool were a bonus to use on arrival and departure day.
Will definitely be returning

Staff members were very helpful & facilities just needs updating but were great ,breakfast was very good, I would stay there again .
