This was genuinely one of the most disgusting hotel experiences I’ve ever had.
From the moment I walked into the room, the hygiene was shocking. There were small men’s hairs all over the sink and on the towels. There was no hand wash liquid provided, and the bed looked like it hadn’t even been changed after the previous guest. It honestly felt dirty and completely unacceptable.
The ironing board had a hole in it, and every time the people next door used their bathroom, the sound of running water was loud and intrusive in my room. It made it impossible to relax.
I went down to reception to report the matter. To be fair, the receptionist was polite and seemed to want to help, but she clearly didn’t have the authority or means to do anything. She told me the hotel was fully booked and that the person who handles these matters wouldn’t be in until the next morning. So I was left with no solution.
At that point, I decided I couldn’t stay there any longer. As I was leaving to find another hotel, the restaurant manager made a dismissive comment: “Sorry it wasn’t up to your standards.” That really frustrated me. This isn’t about “standards” — it’s about basic hygiene, which this hotel completely failed to provide.
On top of all that, the room had just been freshly painted, and the smell was so strong it was unbearable. Even with the window open, I couldn’t stay in the room for more than 5–10 minutes.

The reception, bar, lounge and dining room are comfortable and inviting. The staff were brilliant, even though they seemed to be undermanned, with one person being needed in three different places. The service and food was great.
However...... when we went to the bedroom, it really was very tired and the stains on the outside of the sink, were definitely not appealing. They were from I think someone dying their hair and spilling the dye. The TV remote was missing. When we went down to the bar and asked about the missing remote control. The man said he would speak to someone and get it sorted. That someone was Kirsty. What an absolute treasure. She came and asked if it was okay, for her to go and search the room. She did and then went into other rooms to try and get a remote, that would work with the TV. When she had exhausted all options, she then suggested moving us to another room and insisted on helping us, to do it. The whole time she was bright and bubbly and made us feel relaxed and calm about it all. (We are not young people!) She even organised for us to have a free dessert as an apology. The new bedroom had a remote control, but the condition of the room was not good, with holes and marks in the walls.
We stayed in a large mansion house, a few weeks before, with everything more or less spot on. They charged us with an upgrade for 2 nights only about £15 more than we paid for one night at the Hotel Wrexham. Definitely not worth the money.

Food was excellent. Room was very comfortable. My usual bugbear is staffing and service but at this hotel I'd say 100 percent is selling them short . Could not ask for better service particularly in the savvy fox restaurant. Will definitely be staying here again. Only downside was we were only staying 1 night. Well done.

When I arrived, the corrdor smelled very bad/ It had improved the following morning. My room clearly had not been cleaned properly. In fact the mugs in the tea set had not been swapped from the previous occupier and one still had the stains in the bottom and the dirty spoon was in the cup. The soap dispensers were empty but the refiller pouches were left nearby. The restaurant staff were polite but disinterested, despite not being busy at either dinner or breakfast.

I visited with my teenage son , room was a little dated but i think they are slowly decorating room by room. I had to turn the mattress over on my sons bed as the spring was poking through.. The rest of the hotel was great , nice food , great service , friendly staff , especially Jules the sales rep. The waitresses were on the ball and very helpful.

We had a beautiful meal in the restaurant in the eving and the service is spot on. With all the interior work being done the staff were very helpful. The bar will hopefully be completed by next week.

Great stay close to the bus stop (watch the bus times tho! The time table posted at the stop wasn’t correct and Google Maps stated bus arrival times for a Sunday morning when busses weren’t running yet!)

We booked 3 rooms and they accommodated us as i wanted to be near each other ..
I found the Hotel very good but still a few teething troubles ..staff just need a bit more training as the carpet when having our evening meal was full of cake that shouldve been hoovered up before sitting us down for meal and three different staff saw it but not one cleared the mess up ..quite disappointing... also a bit unorganised at breakfast so was not very pleasant to be told they were very busy and so things weren't replenished and felt a bit of a burden to be asking for things ...but im sure with a little more training things will get better it wont stop us staying again as the Hotel is so very convenient to Wrexham ..
I found the Hotel very good but still a few teething troubles ..staff just need a bit more training as the carpet when having our evening meal was full of cake that shouldve been hoovered up before sitting us down for meal and three different staff saw it but not one cleared the mess up ..quite disappointing... also a bit unorganised at breakfast so was not very pleasant to be told they were very busy and so things weren't replenished and felt a bit of a burden to be asking for things ...but im sure with a little more training things will get better it wont stop us staying again as the Hotel is so very convenient to Wrexham ..

We only spent 1 night at the hotel. We were very pleased with it, and it's in a really lovely setting perfect for events and far away from the hustle and bustle of any city and traffic. The staff answered everything and were informative. Room was perfectly adequate for our stay, comfortable bed and good shower room. All very clean. Bath was disgusting not cleaned hairs in the bath, black mould between tiles and around the bath. Reception closes at ten. They rang us when we were out to say reception was closing and we wouldn't be able to get our key, we would have to use a side door that would be unlocked, and they would leave door to our room unlocked. Got back at eleven was a glass panel on the top half of the door with a large crack one side to the other. This was only access to the corridor where the rooms are, no access to the hotel. I wondered if this door was unlocked all night and anyone could wander in off the street in the middle of the night. Wanted to go into the hotel for a coffee and have a read save waking my partner at 6 10 and couldn't get in the hotel. Breakfast was just warm wasn't a help yourself hot buffet breakfast. You told the waitress what you didn't like from the items on the menu, so for £30 for two it's not as good value compared to helping yourself from a hot buffet. Was disappointed

Nice property, the room reminded me of a Holiday Inn. Clean and tidy no complaints. Breakfast just ok and if you are staying on the bottom floor be prepared for creaking floorboards above you. Type of hotel that is good for business stop or nearby functions is weddings, golf etc.

The hotel is situated about 20 yards from the road and there is a lot of traffic noise to contend with. The hotel have tried to combat this with double glazing but without air-con who wants to have their windows shut in summer?
However, worse than the traffic noise was the sound of the occupants of the room above. Were they noisy and playing loud music ? No. They merely walked around their room like anyone else, but the structure of the floor is so bad that every step they took squeaked, creaked and groaned like there were a couple of baby hippos up there.
We didn't complain.....what on earth could be done? Short of pulling the place down and rebuilding, it I don't know how you fix this place.

Check if there food delivery is on time for meals
Arrived after 8 o’clock hungry made it to dining area to be told main menu is not available for food . Only have four choices, ok can we have chicken no chicken . Went elsewhere for food . We had early start 8 o’clock morning. Could we have a little earlier on breakfast no chefs till 8 o’clock so mist breakfast. 12 hours two rooms two bedrooms and shower with a very uncomfortable bill . And the place was empty with other couples complaining about choice of food .🤔

It has been a while since I felt it necessary to give such a bad review. This place should be avoided. My son got food poisoning here. The restaurant service was so slow that it begged belief. My sunglasses were stolen by a member of staff I believe. They are always trying to con you. And then, if that were not enough - they tried to charge us for damage to the room that had nothing to do with us.
If that were not enough - the rooms are very shabby, and good luck getting proper room cleaning.

We went to join our friends at their wedding hosted at Holt lodge and the ceremony, party, food and drink was great. Our hotel room however fell very short of the mark, dated, tired, the bed was terrible and pillows like pancakes - no sleep at all!
The corridor leading to our room also stank of cannabis ! I made the receptionist aware on check out and she said she was sorry but offered no compensation - not that I would go back anyway.

Fabulous hotel, room was spacious, warm and very clean. Food was very very good, I am a coeliac and was exceptionally well catered for. Chef was fabulous, ensured meals were gluten free, staff are friendly and very helpful. Absolutely brilliant stay, would definitely use again.

This hotel is completely over prices for the quality of the hotel. The rooms are old and in need of a serious overhaul. The bed was hard and lumpy and the toiletries were very poor. Hardly any shower gel left in the dispenser and bargain basement toilet paper, whole place just felt neglected. If it was £50 a night I wouldnt be writing this but at £95 its just unacceptable.

Terrible experience. My room was awful. The bathroom hadn’t been cleaned. Hair all over the floor and around the sink. I had to ask for it to be cleaned as the hotel was full and no other room available. The mattress was so old it was flat. Breakfast was woeful - I won’t go back and wouldn’t recommend.

From checking in to checking out, we were very happy with the service. The hotel is in a lovely location, just under 10 min away from Wrexham town. The food was very good on both nights, and the hotel grounds are very pleasing. The property itself, although attractive, does need abit of TLC, especially the door on our room, you had to slam shut in order to close it. But for the overall stay, we were very happy and would book again.

Sadly our room had crumbs left on the dressing table. It was a twin room, but there was only 1 biscuit and 1 hot chocoate sachet, and no glasses (not even the plastic ones). There was also only 1 chair - which is often the case but it is irritating that both guests cannot have a chair.
