The Hotel was presented well on the drive up to the carpark, well maintained and clean, The entrance to the reception area was lovely, Christmas trees and plants a very nice touch. The reception staff were welcoming and helpful, a smooth check in. We got upgraded to a larger newly decorated room, which was spacious and clean, two negatives the bed was very hard for us , only our preference. The next was the room had a extraction system in it that ran all night which disrupt your sleep. Unfortunately for us it also had a fan on the wall outside the window,so had sleep with windows shut.
We had a meal in the Elements restaurant which was lovely and the staff looked after us well. The cocktail bar was fantastic with a musician George playing the piano beautifully, even played us a song for being newly weds. The pool area is great, but it would of been nice to have a couple of loungers around it.
We treated ourselves to a spa day which was special, we had the weather on our side, and it wasnt to cold. The treatment was relaxing and professionally done.
Overall the hotel and grounds are very special, and we look forward to staying again.

Room was nice and clean. Some weird things like no power ports near the bed. Just one USB in one bedside lamp. The other side has zero power options.

Also, its not great having to leave the hotel to walk to courtyard suites. Come rain or shine, you need to have a coat and possibly an umbrella which does remove the convenience of a hotel.

So lovely hotel but does feel more like a holiday park when you have to traipse around outside to find your room.

The rooms were spacious and spotless, staff were amazing with our toddler (they even called the room when we left his dummy in reception and brought it up for us). Nothing was too much trouble. Dinner at the brasserie was fantastic and breakfast was too. Would definitely stay again without the toddler to use the spa!

A fabulous 4 night stay ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A wonderful 4 night stay at this lovely hotel. All staff very friendly and welcoming, our twin double bed room was very spacious and obviously newly refurbished. Nice to have a fridge in the room, which was restocked daily with bottled water and fresh local milk in little bottles.
Breakfast was plentiful with all tastes catered for. We used the Carden Spa, my treatment with Marcella was top notch and the whole spa is fabulous.
Our daughter enjoyed many onsite activities including Vertigo, Zip Wire & Segway.
The only criticism and I’m being very picky is that the pillows on the beds were high (beds very comfortable though!) but I find this in a lot of hotels I’ve stayed in.
A throughly enjoyable stay, we will be back!

It is a lovely place. The grounds, gym and spa are excellent and the staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are nice. We had a ground floor room. We had to go upstairs to the first floor, along the corridor, down the stairs and along the corridor. This was a bit of a pain. Overall though it was a good stay.

Not what you might think, living off a name

From the outset, we had issues with the hotel. They advertised this hotel using photos of the spa (including the outdoor pool etc), but this is not included in the £260 B&B rate for a King View Estate room. When we called to clarify, we were told nothing could be done—even after an assistant manager admitted it was misleading and a case of misrepresentation. Their solution? Offer us spa access at a “discounted” rate of £14—which is actually more than one of the available packages. They claimed the included food in the package makes up the value. So, for both of us, it would cost an extra £198 for just four hours of spa use. The manager even said, “I don’t see why they couldn’t just let you use it to be honest, but it’s not my decision—the other team said no.” When I asked who specifically refused, the response was vague. Suspicious.

Then came our dinner. We were hesitant after the spa situation, but gave it a chance. We ordered, waited over 30 minutes, and were finally served—but with the wrong meals. At first, we didn’t realise because the dishes looked so similar. After starting to eat, my partner realised we had been given each other’s food. By that time, half was gone. We didn’t want to wait another 30+ minutes, so while they deducted the charge, one of us was left hungry.

It doesn’t feel friendly here—it’s clearly aimed at wealthy guests.

We have been before but not for a long time Ii was my wife’s 60th birthday while we was there so it was a special occasion. The room we were in which was room number 121 was perfect a beautiful room on the front with amazing views from the front of the hotel across the Gardens at the front and the golf course and the beautiful mountains beyond. The only thing we was aware of was for a while when we was in our room a bit of banging and drilling from up above us from the upgrades and alterations and refurbishment which was going on. It was a little noisy and annoying to be honest but there were signs around asking during this time could we be patient and just bare with the noise. We had a treatment each in the new spar which looked amazing and the treatments were amazing too. But we were a little disappointed that although we was having treatments we had to pay extra if we wanted to use the extra facilities of the spar and at £119 extra each we thought that was a little expensive. But other than that we really enjoyed our stay

Came with my husband and 2 children 4&5) and my inlaws. Husband and father inlaw played golf...they had a fantastic time. Mother in law and i took the children swimming and went to the park. Lots to do wven though the children were too young for the big activities. We couldn't eat at the main restaurant in the evening as there was no space for the 6 of us which was disappointing. I think guests at the hotel should have some sort of priority to dine first. We went to a local pub for our evening meal instead. It was lovely but not ideal. Would have rather stayed on site. Breakfast was delicious. Room was great.

Driving up to this hotel it definitely had the wow factor. Reception staff were very polite and welcoming, and provided a very high level of customer service. The room itself was beautiful very large, clean and the bed was so comfortable. Evening meal was beautiful and so was breakfast. The only downfall is that this was a short overnight stay. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be returning

Great except for one thing.

The grounds and the main part of the hotel were excellent as were the staff. The only disappointment was the fridge in our room the motor of which kept kicking in on a regular basis. This meant that we couldn’t get a proper silent night as the noise of this was quite intrusive.

Poor stay overall - not worth the money

Despite this being our 4th or 5th stay as returning guests, this one will be our last.

Complacency has set in. No extra customer service, just the basics.
Bedroom was small, dark, carpet old, dents in the wall, bathroom was basic, shampoo watered down, the bed was really very uncomfortable and old. Walls really thin - heard every conversation of people walking past and the family next door.

Leisure area and changing rooms were tired, showers had black mould in them and drains were smelly.

No food available after 5pm, only crisps at the bar or the a la carte restaurant that has a dress code!
We were asked if it was a special occasion, it was our anniversary and we said as much, but nothing else was said or offered.
Why even ask us??
Food at breakfast was sub-standard produce, so much so, we left on the 2nd morning ahead of breakfast as we did not want to eat anything there even tho paid for.

Noah and Jess in the bar were the BEST PART of the stay, have very good customer care, super personalities, great at their job and a real asset to the hotel.

We left sad and disappointed after paying for still a relatively expensive 2-night stay, after looking forward to our anniversary weekend.

Will be looking for better places to stay next time we come to Chester where the customer is put first, the rooms are comfortable and the food is good quality.

We are sad we felt so disappointed by this stay after previous visits.

Mixed Review, the place is beautiful! Lovely location, lovely place with friendly helpful staff and large spacious rooms. We had a room with two doubles beds which was nice. We only stayed 1 night and also went to the morning spa that was very nice.
The down side, we ate in the Redmans restaurant thinking it would be really good. Unfortunately my partners starter of mushrooms wasn’t very nice and worst of all we both had sirloin steak as a main which was the worst steak we’ve both ever had. It’s a real shame as we were looking forward to the meal.
We would stay there again as the place is beautiful but would be extremely cautious about eating there again. Spoilt the night for us to be honest.

Fridge light kept me up, no one explained the room heating and when I did figure it out was hard to get a good temp. Wow! This place is one of the best hotels I have ever had the pleasure of staying at. The staff are impeccable. On so many occasions nowadays, the hospitality industry is let down by poor staff with poor customer service skills. This place sets the standards for all hotels. Food is great, rooms are great and the facilities in and around the hotel are fantastic. Will be returning again and again.

Went for my 30th birthday for the night. The vines restaurant was excellent. The food was incredible and the staff were very attentive, friendly but very professional. I did don’t a beard hair on my starter but i understand these things happen and as the staff saw me picking it out of my meal there came over instantly to check all was ok. We were happy with the room, but shocked to not receive robes for our stay. The bathroom door was all broken and scuffed at the bottom but apart from that the room was lovely. We planned to as the spa into our stay but it was fully booked so book in advance to avoid disappointment. This was our own fault. The hotel itself is lovely and we would return.

A wonderful experience, it’s just a shame you can’t walk back to your room in your dressing gown and flip flops after your spa experience. You have to get changed back into the clothes you arrived in before leaving the spa building and crossing over into the hotel.

Good location, grounds and facilities. But for the price and a 5* hotel they were a few niggles such as the bathroom needed some bleach around the shower and sink plug hole ect. For the luxury they're advetising deep cleaning should be an obvious but didnt looked like it had been done. And masses of cobwebs around the doors to get into rooms.

This was our first visit to the hotel and we were very impressed. Driving up to the hotel through the golf course showed the size of the hotel and leisure facilities. Check-in and the room ( we had a family room) were as you would expect. We tried the golf range and shooting which were very enjoyable. Breakfast was also very tasty and plenty of choice. Have stayed here several times. The vines restaurant is exquisite but this time one the mains was not up to scratch. Soon remedied with a replacement and 2 free glasses of wine and a desert. Cost of the one meal was deducted from our bill by Julian the restaurant manager who could have done anymore

This was our second stay at Carden Park hotel and it is a lovely hotel. The leisure centre is fantastic with a very lovely pool, excellent steam room very good sauna and massive jacuzzi pool. The breakfast buffet was, as ever, excellent. We did have an issue with our meal at The Vines. However, management have so far been helpful in dealing with that. We would return because it is a very nice place to stay and in a nice area to explore.

If I am honest I found my stay at Carden Park rather underwhelming. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful throughout. The room was a disappointment - very beige, brown, masculine. Bed was very comfortable, with the exception of the pillows. Bathroom was not as luxurious as expected and the shower was a bit feeble. Lunch menu was very limited and expensive for what it was. Carpet in the bar area needed cleaning under the table ( as did the carpet on corridor leading to bedroom). Function meal was rather disappointing with the dessert being inedible ( tough pastry on banoffee pie, no flavour and covered in squirt cream reminiscent of shaving foam). The wine was good. Coffee served after the meal was undrinkable- strong, stewed and bitter. Breakfast was also disappointing. Hot buffet items were cold. Tea wasn’t brewed individually so again was stewed. Poor selection of fruits and cheeses for the Continental Breakfast. Pastries were fine. espresso coffee wasn’t good either and was served in a huge cup. Would I stay again? Probably not unless I was attending a function. Definitely overpriced for a room and was not the luxury experience I was expecting. I didn’t have time to try the spa which I gather has had a lot of money spent on it.

We stayed for 1 night and were delighted with the hotel, grounds, facilities and bar / dining experience.
The leisure facilities were great and the swimming pool and hydrotherapy pool / sauna / steam room were very clean and a lovely peaceful benefit to our stay. Unfortunately, the Vines Restaurant was closed for the duration of our stay.
Our evening meal in Redmond's Brasserie was lovely and the full English buffet breakfast the following morning was delicious!
The bar staff in Morgan's Bar were very helpful and attentive and the drinks were surprisingly very reasonably priced. The open fires in the bar and seating areas were delightful and welcoming.
We can't recommend staying here to anyone enough and would definitely return in the future.
The only constructive criticism I wish to offer is that it is that hotel residents should receive a considerably reduced tariff for use of the 'Spa at Carden' facilities, with the option to purchase spa treatments if desired.

Weekend escape for two. Was a beautiful hotel and we booked the suite which was lovely. Only draw back was you could only access suites from outside. Fab it wasn’t raining and lovely it was quiet however, not sure I would’ve liked it had weather been different!
Room itself was lovely. I requested separate bath tub and shower. Was very spacious and you had complimentary robes and slippers. Room service food was limited and pretty average but it hasn’t put me off coming again. Grounds were beautiful and didn’t realise until after booking it was very child friendly. Def coming again with the kids!

We had a really lovely stay and would highly recommend it. Everything and everyone were great. We were in the hotel bar on Saturday evening and were served by a lovely young man who was learning the ropes. He was really supported by his colleagues. Staying in a place where the customers are so well looked after is lovely but it is really nice to stay in a place where colleagues are clearly well looked after too.
We will definitely return.

we had room service and the quality was average at best, we were kept up from 11:30pm to 2:45am with workers loading vans from a function that was on, we phoned reception twice and didn't get any reply.we reported it again on checkout and manager over heard conversation and offered free upgrade on next visit which i suppose is something.

The staff were amazing, while staying at the property we used the spa victoria and tash, made us feel relaxed and comfortable during our treatment would highly recommend.
We dined at Redmonds Brasserie the room temperature was a little cold and had the feel of a canteen not a restaurant, the food was lovely but not hot enough overall we had an amazing stay and will return in the future
