Great stay with Oddfellows, stayed in the apartment which is 5min down the road and turn left pass the Crosskey pub on the corner right to the end where there is a place with ‘Oddfellows’ on it, it came with parking aswell in the courtyard which was great! Very central but quiet enough at night by the apartment which was ideal, would definitely stay again.

I’ve always wanted to stay at Oddfellows and it did’nt disappoint. My daughters and I stayed in the attic room and it was amazing. The rooms are full of character and very quirky. We had a really comfortable stay and all the staff were very helpful.

Fabulous time. Apartment lovely, bright an spacious. Two large bedrooms with en-suites. One shower unfortunately not working but had a bath and espresso machine certainly on its way out. Other than that was perfect.

We stayed in apartment 5 which is separate to the hotel but only a few minutes walk away. We were able to park outside the apartment in our own space (you need to turn into the apartment and go under the arch to find it) and on checkout they let us stay parked there until 3pm which gave us an extra 3 hrs to explore Chester.

The apartment itself was much bigger than expected and had everything we needed for our mini break with our teenage sons. We had the option to have a roll out bed added to the apartment too which we did as our sons are far too big to share a bed these days. This could easily have been moved to the spacious living room if anyone wanted to book somewhere with three separate sleeping areas.

The apartment has enough bathrooms to keep everyone happy, although the shower in the bathroom that also has a bath was out of order (this didn't affect us as there is another shower in a different bathroom and our boys were very excited to have an actual bath instead!)

We didn't really go back tot eh hotel once wed collected our keys but it looked really cool and quirky when we did pop in. There was an option to add on breakfast on the day so no pressure to decide wether to add it to the booking (we didn't eat there as my husband headed out early into the city instead to pick up our specific breakfast orders!)

Would definitely recommend booking for a stay in Chester, the apartment could easily fit more people if needed.

First the good. The apartment we stayed in was massive. So much room, too much really for two people. Lovely and warm too. Parking a bonus. Now the bad. Tired apartment in need of tlc. Lacking the va va vroom of the hotel. Cracked sinks and toilet seat, no curtains and broken blinds, one shower ‘out of action’, mould and cobwebs in bathroom, cup rings on bedside table. Cleaning poor: Toothpaste splatter on walls, food debris in kitchen sink, ceramic hob had burnt on ring marks. Scourer under sink used and damp and fridge needed a wipe. If it had a little more attention to detail it would be a great space. So quiet at night and easy walk into town. Had ev charging which wasn’t mentioned or I’d have brought my ev!

We stayed in Apartment 4 and it’s just a great 2 bed apartment with a nice lounge, great kitchen, both beds had en-suites plus another bathroom. Could not recommend higher to use them, they have 3 or 4 I believe. My son and his girlfriend stayed in the Hotel itself and also said it great. 100% recommend both if your coming to Chester for a weekend anyway.

Chest is also just great place, ace shops, good bars and loads of cool restaurants

Faded Boutique Hotel - overdue a make-over.

I booked this as a surprise birthday stay for my wife who had previously been here some years ago and said it was lovely and quirky! Unfortunately for us, our stay coincided with Chester Races weekend! Subsequently, the hotel was very busy and packed! It wasn’t even possible to sit in the bar as there were ‘reserved’ signs virtually everywhere! The room itself (room 19) was very small with the tiniest of ‘wardrobes’ which was essentially a storage cupboard with THREE coat hangars! We had to remove the ironing board and cooling fan just to get a shirt and jacket inside! There was no mini-bar but there was a fridge which was supposed to be attached to a cupboard door by a strap which had long since broken! This was evident by the fact that the liner of the fridge door had a gaping gash in the front where previous guests had clearly used (and made worse) to prise the door open during previous stays. There is not a chance whatsoever that this could not have been known about! Housekeeping, I’m sure will have reported this - it looked awful and shabby. We came back to Oddfellows later that evening after our meal in a nearby restaurant to find a private party in full-swing! And as our room was adjacent to this, It was near impossible to get any sleep until this had finished in the early hours. And to add insult to injury, a cost of just shy of £300 (no doubt inflated by the Race Meeting) represented extremely poor value for money. Not happy.

Noisy outside bar until late area near rooms, hotel room doors sounded like they were being slammed close all evening then again 1st thing. Bed was really soft so not the best nights sleep.
Very inexperienced (and not enough) staff at breakfast. Buffet breakfast would suit the hotel better if they can’t afford more staff.

Staff were lovely and welcoming. Especially Dan, who served us in the restaurant in the evening. Nothing was too much trouble!
The room was a duplex room which was just amazing!
The only negative was the service at breakfast was very slow, and we waited a good 10mins before anyone came to our table, and had to ask for a tea and coffee, which came with off milk.
However, this is our only complaint, and did not spoil our stay whatsoever.
This hotel is a hidden little gem, great atmosphere, quirky, and central location.

Wonderful service from a staff that really seems to care. Lovely restaurant, good food, and a gorgeous bar /lounge. One to two blocks and you’re in the major old town shopping District. I’m in a wheelchair and managed to see all of the sites. I wanted in Chester from the train station and across the river to the beautiful churches and walls. Don’t miss the wonderful clock. It was still the staff and managers that made my visit such a pleasant one.

This was a really lovely stay. We would come back here in a heartbeat if we were in the area again. The room was emaculate and really well decorated, the shower was phenomenal, so much so that I had an extra one in the morning before leaving.

The bar is quiet and decedant with a lovely garden area for a nice drink in the sun.

There are a lot of stairs some of which are quite old and there is no lift so if you have mobility issues maybe bear this in mind but don't let it put you off. The reception staff were also happy to keep our child's pushchair for us in the main lobby to avoid lugging it up the stairs which was greatly appreciated.

We only stayed one night but wish we could have stayed longer, lovely hotel with friendly staff.

Booked dinner bed and breakfast which turned out to be a burger for evening meal and European style cold buffet breakfast.
Wine glass was dirty at the evening meal.
Smoked salmon had disappeared and was not topped up at breakfast and we had to request some more bread.
On the flip side the bar is amazing and well worth a visit .
Room was ok Bathroom was great apart from a smell of a blocked drain wafting through every once in a while .

This was our second stay at the hotel. We love the location and the staff are always very friendly. We didn't try the food this time but had no complaints about the breakfast last time. Our only disappointment was the cleanliness. Our room had a bath in the bedroom. We put a floor mat down to stop any wet foot prints. When we lifted the floor mat up after it was filthy. Also standing in the wet room the same happened. Perhaps a good scrub and mop is required. Our room also had a row of electrical sockets where the fridge and kettle plug in which we couldn't use as the sockets were too close to the work surface and the leads on our appliances were not flexible enough to bend to allow us to plug appliances in.
We feel we are disappointed due to having such a great stay last time. The hotel remains good value for money

The hotel was lovely, however the room was very warm with only 1 small opening window, it did have a fan but it didn't help much and just made the night noisy. We found the service during our evening meal very poor and the breakfast was shocking. The tea had bits floating in it, the buns and chocolate muffins were hard. This hotel cost me a lot but it was not worth the money I paid... I feel very disappointed with our stay because I saved for some time to make this night away special... no one was on the reception when we were leaving to talk to.

I stayed in room 4, it was a very large and spacious room, however very cold.

The bed was two single beds together, so it was rather large, although you could feel the divide in the middle, it was very comfy.

TV was okay, it had basic channels.

Mini soap, shampoo, coniditioner, bodywash provided. (No toothbrush)

Shower was nice. The bar holding the smaller showerhead was a bit loose from the wall so probably could do with securing down!

Overall felt clean (minus suspicious brown mark on the carpet)

Bed was comfortable but definitely needed a thicker duvet.

Hair dryer had to be used in a hard to reach place - where the ceiling was low

Not great if you struggle with mobility as lots of stairs

Quirky interior which was interesting

Good location, at the higher end of bridge street. Basically right in the centre.

Good value for money at 107£ for two nights.

Emailed hotel before we set off to ask about parking situation was told nearest one was about 5min walk away so parked there and then walked with baby and luggage to drop our bags as knew check in wasn’t till 3… didn’t realise there was no step free access so climbed stairs with everything to find out we had free parking with our appt, 5 min walk away so had to go back to take everything back down stairs and to the car to pay for parking we’d had, take luggage and car to appt! When we checked in later at 3/4 ish with baby ready to be fed, bathed and put to bed the WiFi was not working so we could not connect monitor etc and hotel didn’t seem to be bothered when we phoned to tell them!

Spacious apartment with bathroom on each bedroom but all looked dated and didn’t feel particularly clean maybe as lighting so dull cleaners could not see in the winter months when not much daylight

Asked for refund as didn’t feel the facilities were up to scratch but was refused as said should have complained at the time… which I thought we did when we phoned?

Really good central location which offered good value for money. Staff were excellent and went above and beyond when we accidentally left our son’s soft toys behind. Beds comfortable and a well-designed room layout. Only downside was the very worn bathroom area. Flooring reminiscent of a 1980s leisure centre and the toilet door allowed only a little privacy due to very limited frosting. Ok for our family but maybe not for a romantic mini-break! Would recommend.

Amazing Duplex room with bath in bedroom. Trendy, quirky and modern.
A few lights were out in the high ceiling and the stand up light in lounge area also didn’t work. Just made the room a little dark but we still loved it.
Love oddfellows and stayed a few times as it’s in a great location, friendly staff and fab cocktails.
We will defo return and book this amazing room again.

Booked this hotel for my friends and I purely for a place to sleep after a day out so the price we paid (£120 total) was very reasonable for Chester. My party comprised 4 adults and we were allocated a 2 bedroom apartment at the hotel's annex. The apartment was more than suitable for our needs but would be a great place to use for a multi-night stay. There was even a car park spot at the annex which we didn't use.

We both enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The staff were helpful and friendly. The hotel is in a perfect location to explore this beautiful city. Parking is in a nearby multistorey. The décor is very quirky and the glass door in our room that is shared between the shower / bathroom and toilet takes some getting used too! The breakfast was continental with a large range of pastries, cereals, meats fruits and breads. We would certainly visit again our only criticism was on our final night we were disturbed by 4 middle aged drunken women who insisted in shouting screaming and running up and down the corridor at 1am. A difficult situation which we felt wasn't dealt with at all either at the time or in the morning.

Atrocious! Avoid at all costs, told us to park in a dodgy, tiny car park - even though we had 2 pregnant women and a baby with us - and despite the fact that WE WERE ENTITLED TO A SPACE WITH OUR BOOKKN. Crap service at overpriced bar.

So a nice boutique hotel, very comfortable bed. Shower door leaked water a bit. No lift as listed building, think maybe they should make that clearer as some older buildings do have a lift. My partner has a disability and there were a lot of stairs. Outside area was nice, but they didn’t put lights on at night. One staff member who worked on the bar ignored me and served the people behind me purely because she thought I may want a cocktail as I had looked at the menu. She was mixing one when I got there and didn’t look very happy about it. When someone else served me I did ask for a cocktail and did comment on the service. She asked the same woman to make it and she answered “ I’ll try”, I told her not to bother and ordered something else. Other than that the other staff were all good.

It was great but the aoarpment we where in No4 could do with some attention to the roof in the kitchen ans in the bathroom. Lolk a little tired in some places ie decor.

Great location , but not so keen on the attic bedrooms , good job we were not a tall couple to get in and out of toilet room and the sink is at other end of bedroom and near the nice dbl shower at the back of bedroom which is open plan !The hotel is a venue as well , the first night the music stopped at ten but second night it was 12.30 am and very loud , so something to think about

This was our second stay at the property, as we had been there 8 months prior. The last room was a bit \"odd\", but it worked fine.

This time, the entire property was a COMPLETE letdown. First, let me explain who I am as a traveler.

I'm 63 years old, and I've stayed at lots of properties around the world, and expect at least a minimum level of service and value. This means to me -- help with bags, a clean room with working facilities, and some ease of access to my room. The previous room I had was just about at the minimum level, and I booked the hotel a few months in advance, expecting this because of the proximity to shopping and restaurants in Chester. I requested the same room, but it was already booke and I was assured that I would get an upgrade.

The room was three flights of stairs up. When we got to the room we immediately saw a large shower and TWO bathtubs in a long room. The toilet was behind what could charitably be described as an outhouse door with the ceiling sloping so you hit your head every time you use it. The door latch was appropriate for an outhouse.

The fan didn't work. The mirrord didn't light. The lighting was dim throughout. We turned on the TV and it went straight to some adult channel, and it took us time to figure it out. I'm positive they shoot \"videos\" in that room. Oh, and I had to haul my bags up the three stories and back down when we checked out.

Never, ever again. There is DEFINITELY better places.

The location was great with free parking. We stayed in the two bed apartment and the condition was poor. Lots of mould around the bath, no fans in the bathroom so paint peeling off the walls due to the steam. The toilet flush didn’t work fully and the light above the bathroom mirror didn’t work so was very dark in there. The shower door was also broken and the water took ages to drain away. The windows in the apartment are also bolted shut for some reason. So no way of getting any fresh air into the apartment and no air con. Cups and glasses in the cupboards also filthy, bin in the kitchen all dinted and dirty. Felt like tatty student digs.

Quite an Odd Fellow indeed

Lots of very high reviews for this place and tbh I can see why it might appeal very much to some and not so much to others.

It certainly was one of the oddest hotels I stayed in. There was no hot breakfast available which was only advised to me a week or so before our stay although the kitchen was open on other days.
The continental breakfast provided however was pretty good so all things considered it was fine.

We stayed in a cottage room which was good but had to walk through a private event to go to/from our room and had a dash in the rain to get to the restaurant.

The room itself was clean , tidy and comfortable. However there was a definite drains smell in the room which was unpleasant. Also as it was a disabled room the bath in the very middle of the room is probably a challenge to disabled folks using the room.
Also the emergency cord for disabled alarm is tied up 5’ above the bedroom floor ( Needs to touch the floor) , ‘press button’ to open the door didn’t work. No pull cord in the shower area is another miss for this kind of room.
The glass door to the toilet was odd but it didn’t close properly ..
Staff were very nice, friendly and helpful.
With No Parking at the hotel we were referred to a nearby (200 yards away) NCP car park … however it was possibly one of the most awkward car parks I have ever tried to park in … I would seek out another car park…

Not sure I would stay again but it was ok but I felt it was over prices although it’s location is perfect
