Rooms were spacious and lovely and nice outdoor area. Breakfast was nice and I got to sit in (lovely) separate dining area, as I had my Goldendoodle with me, which I was happy with, as it meant I could chill as he had lots of space to lie down. My only negative was we had to pay for parking at £13 (for 24 hrs I think). It was just an expense I hadn't expected. Other than that, everything was great. Would definitely go back if in that area again.

Excellent hotel. Location for the station could not be improved. We were upgraded to a lovely room which was spacious and clean. The hotel is not perfect but I love that, as it feels like a ‘real hotel’ with character. Breakfast was very good in a large room overlooking the garden. The evening meal was of a high standard. The garden needs addressing under the trees where the sun canopy was covered in bird poo, this let the beautiful space down. The staff were all very professional and helpful.

Stayed in a deluxe room in the main hotel room 237 which overlooked the car park, the room was nice, with tea, coffee, water and crisps supplied along with dressing gowns and slippers. Bathroom had a bath which was nice, but did need a bit of TLC. Arrived at 2 and were able to check in which was good. Location was directly opposite the train station which was ideal and a short walk into the city centre to visit all Chester's attractions. Breakfast was buffet style with hot and cold items. Only real negative we had was that our room wasn't serviced after our first night so had to go to reception to get extra tea and milk.

Lovely hotel with pleasant staff. Our room was a great size with a bathroom that had a deep bath and a walk in shower. It was all very clean. There was air conditioning in the room that had to work hard as it was nearly 30° and it it did a great job! There were plenty of spaces in the car park although there was a parking charge. Took us about 10 nins to walk into the main area of Chester. We didn't eat in the hotel so unable to comment on the food although we noticed the dining room looked nice. Would definitely stay again.

Absolute sweatbox of a room and a very small window to try and get some cool air in as the air con was just inept, also very dark room so had to have the lights on which didn't help the temperature of the room. Tried to have a cool bath but no plug for the bath could be found so then tried to have a cool shower but kept getting blasts of hot water on me so gave up on that. Went out for the evening and when we came back to the room it was slightly cooler as we'd left the window open so we were able to get some sleep. The breakfast buffet was very nice and about the only highlight of our stay. If we were to visit Chester again we wouldn't be stopping here again as its a 20 minute walk to the centre and for £180 for the night I'd want a better room that something resembled a loft conversion.

Check-in smooth as usual. We had 2 rooms. One on top floor of the newer building and one on the ground floor near reception. The higher floor room was lovely as usual (we have stayed many times). The room in the older part near reception although clean and functional was definitely showing its age (sticky doors etc). Breakfast was definitely not
Up to the usual standard. Sausages were of poor quality and VERY overcooked. Bacon was quite fatty and the hash browns bland. Most of the food was tepid at best. This will not stop us staying there again but perhaps at £16pp we may make alternative arrangements for breakfast in the future.

We had a lovely stay in this hotel. The twin room was clean and spacious, the air conditioning was quiet and easy to adjust. Mattress, pillow and duvet were great, very comfortable for a good night‘s sleep. Only the adjacent door(s) to the connected room (which were locked as we only booked the one room) could have been better insulated as we could hear the guests in that room talk at night (luckily not for too long but it could otherwise have been an issue). Also the vent in the bathroom didn’t work which we addressed so hopefully it got sorted.
Breakfast incl. coffee was good.
All in all a very pleasant stay.

Staff are great but slow check in. Really hot in Chester right now and the hotel has no actual AC in the building but thankfully the room AC was good if overly complicated. Room size is good, bathroom adequate. One tiny lift for the whole hotel with most people lugging heavy cases up the stairs in frustration at the lift situation. The whole place is a bit worn and it’s at the opposite end of town where you want to be. Parking is nearby but not sign posted at all . I parked in some weird QR code lot at first thinking is was the one that serves the hotel ( which is a public lot) . I wouldn’t stay here again.

Can't comment on the food/breakfast as I didn't have it but it is a very good hotel, clean and comfortable room, hot shower and all at a great price, couldn't have asked for better and would happily stay here again if and when I'm back in Chester.

Only thing I'd say is my ironing board was a bit stiff to put up but considering other hotels charge you a lot more for the privilege of having in your room, it won't affect the score.

Opposite the rail station, which was good for us as we were travelling by train. Clean and comfortable hotel which is on the Hop On Hop Off bus route for easy access to the city. Our room was clean and comfortable with an excellent shower and nice toiletries. Staff were very accomodating and friendly. There was a bit of a faff as to whether we could eat off the bar menu in the restaurant in the evening and we were kept waiting for a while, but eventually we were told we could. All in all it was a good stay. The only downside for us is that we would have liked to sit in the lounge and read, but there is music playing everywhere and raher loud corporate people discussing their work, which we found bohersome. However, we are old and crotchety so maybe it was just us. We would stay here again though.

The room I was in (1310 yet weirdly not on the 13th floor) needed more electrical outlets. USB outlets are pretty standard now. Better quality tea and coffee in the room too.

The staff are a mix of fabulous and awful - some were so helpful and efficient and could not do enough but others were rather rude and snappy. The whole place needs a bit of TLC - wonderful beautiful building with some fabulous public rooms, statues and artwork but needs a good clean for example cobwebs and dust everywhere, chipped and peeling paint. The outside area is filthy - get a jetwash and clean it down - cushions on outside furniture yuck. The outside area in the second building near the function room had about 20 bags of dog poo in a bird bath and against a wall - no idea why but bit off putting to sit near. Bed was really comfortable and clean but lots cobwebs around windows and in wardrobe, coffee stains down the wall, two bulbs out in room, paper peeling off wall in big area. Breakfast was okay - very clean and tidy and cooked food looked great - the other areas ie fruit, cereals and bread/pastries not so great. Food from bar and restaurant was lovely and drinks were great - bar area really nice and great staff. This place could be fabulous but the manager/owners need to go and stay like a guest to see the issues - go round the hotel with a customer's eye and silly faults could be fixed. I would not stay here again as there are so many other options in Chester - real shame would love to see this hotel at its best.

Lovely Junior Suite 1709 - rooms were clean. Check-in was quick. The breakfast was all you could eat and had everything you could need. The rooms were well air conditioned and much needed on a very warm weekend. We also got to stroke Queenie, the hotel cat. Would definitely stay again.

I have stayed at this hotel many times with no issues, after the checking into our room we noticed the toilet would not flush, we reported it to reception and nothing was done for our two night stay we were constantly updating reception.
We have to go down two floors to go to the toilet.
Totally unacceptable.

Stayed for the Bank Holiday weekend over Easter, room was amazing, perfect for the 3 of us (double family room, 2 double beds) was more like a suite.

Decent choice at breakfast and managed to keep a four year old fed who one moments wants sausages then the next doesn't like them!

We stayed in room 1706 in the new part,Wonderful bathroom we had a bath and a shower. Room was clean and to our taste. The hotel bar was welcoming and reasonable prices for drinks. We were with friends so ate in the restaurant. We had some starters and main courses and everyone really enjoyed the food. Breakfast was delicious and because the plates were kept hot and food was replenished I was still hot.Hotel was close to every thing but far away from the outside noise. Staff were brilliant We would definitely return.

Room as described. It had been cleaned, but when we went to put our belongings in a draw, the previous persons clothing, underwear and dirty socks were still in the draw. Stain to the bedding. Use the phone to call reception- it’s was broken.
Went to reception, explained this, Daria on the desk was very apologetic, and swapped us rooms with no issues with an upgrade. She was very polite and professional.
Theses things happen.
Hotel is very clean, and a lovely atmosphere.
Opposite the train station, good location and a short walk to the shops and restaurants.
We will definitely stay again.

Our double standard room had 2 TV's but only one mirror, which was in the bathroom with a light that did not work. This was not very helpful when 2 of us were trying to get ready. The room was clean but the shower seem to be set to burning your skin off or freezing cold, no inbetween. The lobby/restaurant were nicely decorated with beautful chairs

I booked an upgraded room which stated that it had ‘shower only’. This seems great to me because I hate showering after stepping into a bath. I was allocated my room which was nothing special, just a little bigger than a standard room I’m guessing. I checked the bathroom…the dreaded bath with the shower over the top was present. My worst nightmare. The room and bathroom was tired and in need of an upgrade. I was also promised a king sized bed but instead I got 2 singles pushed together resulting in 2 sides of the bed being different levels of firm/soft. Not what I expected from an upgraded room to be honest. Basis at best

Great location right next to the station and an easy walk into the city centre. The ground floor has been nicely refurbished and makes a good first impression.

Some investment has clearly gone into the rooms too (new taps etc.), but they don’t feel finished to the same standard. The bathroom in particular felt a little tired – the silicone around the shower was messy and old, the toilet didn’t flush easily, and the extractor fan was very loud.

Overall a good stay in a great location, but the rooms could benefit from a bit more attention to detail.

Make sure you get the room you ordered and not at the seperate cheap and horrible room in the other side of the Hotel complained and moved us booked for two days hotel said one night supervisor manager pedro agreed 2 day room was locked after we cane back from shopping and hotel wanted to charge double the rate. Been a few times but will never go back. Really disappointed

Really enjoyed our stay here. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was spacious, clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was excellent value.

Its right next to the station and easy to park if you have driven (extra cost), but about a 15 min walk into town centre.

I loved that the hotel is Victorian, grand style, with lovely period design features. Very good value overall.

Bar well stocked, wine reasonably priced. Staff very professional. We had a club sandwich for lunch which was well worth the money. I had steak in the evening which was very good my wife had lamb which was again very good. Breakfast was a different matter. We expected a buffet breakfast but it was empty, asked to sit and an order will be taken. We both ordered full English with poached eggs, they arrived 2 minutes later, mine minus the egg which was brought on a side plate. The plate was greasy the food was barely warm not great we couldn't eat it all. We had a couple of pastries and some fruit which was see throgh thin. Our Superior room was clean, spacious and minimalistic and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom again was clean, tidy and stocked.
Overall a good visit. The hotel has changed a lot since we were last here. Mostly good. Would we return...yes we will.
