This hotel is clean, comfortable and quiet. I had a good night's sleep. The restaurant closes at 10pm so you are not disturbed by this.

There is excellent off road parking and a very good wi-fi signal.

I will return when I am next in the area.

Had a really good stay. The hotel was good value for money and everything was as expected. A few parts of the hotel look a bit tired, but nothing that bothered us at all. The surrounding countryside is beautiful with some great views. Overall, well worth the money and I'd happily stay again. Highly recommended

Maintenance is poor, with a wonderful collection of black mould in the en-suite. Noise from the road is almost unbearable. I made the mistake of booking 2 nights and certainly won't be going back.

This was not the Hotel I booked. The ownership had recently changed and the restaurant was now Indian and the bar alcohol free. Breakfast was a sham at £12 for the cheapest possible fare and very limited choice.

Condition and cleanliness of the property isn't great, and proximity to the road was an issue in my room - every time a HGV hit a pothole outside the floor of the room shook.

Overall, a good value for money stay. Slept very well in a very comfortable bed, duvet and room at the right temperature. Overall room was very clean although the carpet was rather grubby. What really let the stay down was a very small sink which is not really fit for purpose in a hotel room - only suitable for washing hands, completely impractical for washing the face etc.

It wasn't anything the website said. Didn't get a very good welcome. The outside signage said luxury bed and breakfast it wasn't, it was very basic. Room was small and hot, no window to open. No toiletries. The sink was tiny so couldn't fill the kettle.

The hotel is okay, but the stairs are very steep and the room we were allocated, was on the top floor, so two flights of steep stairs. By the time we go to the top, we were both struggling.
The site advertises (and I just checked again) that it has a bar, lounge and restaurant. In fact they do not have a licence, but do not charge, if you want to bring in your own drink and they do supply glasses and ice buckets. The restaurant has been redone as an Indian restaurant. It is totally Indian cuisine, unlike most Indian restaurants, in the UK, it does not offer an European alternative, for those who are not keen on India.
The bathroom door did not fit well and needed a bolt lock to close it. It did not look good. The radiator was turned down, when we arrived and the room was very cold. We turned it up and eventually, it did warm the room. However the next morning, the heating did not come on at all, which made getting washed and dressing, quite stressful. The room could have been organised better, so that the tea tray, was not right beside the bed. It meant there was not a bedside table or lamp, on that side. So getting up through the night, was quite tricky.
Whenever a heavy vehicle, went past on the road, the bedroom floor and the bed vibrated. In the early hours of the morning (after 3 a.m.) the bed would vibrate, making it harder to get bac to sleep.

The hotel was under renovation and not providing any hot food only continental breakfast, as a diabetic I couldn't have the bread, yoghurt, cerials, jams or croissants. The continental breakfast were £15. We were not informed about the renovations before arrival, if we were we would have c. Cancelled.

Room was ok, very small. The we're marks on the bed sheet and bathroom door was dirty with mould. You could hear every noise from next door not to mention the main road and the fact the whole place shook when big articulated lorries drove past which was every 5mins. I mean for £37 i guess you get what you pay for.

They give you free earplugs in each room, and in fairness it was a little noisey, though i managed a good night's sleep without them. The hotel shook slightly when heavy vehicles were passing. The staff were excellent though and the price was fantastic, great easy parking too. Had to leave early, so i didn't have breakfast, so can't comment on food.

Good location a few minutes drive out of city centre.
Staff are friendly and attentive. Rooms are a decent size and very clean and comfortable.
Lovely breakfast in the morning (not included) and reasonably priced for the quality of product used.

Such a nice place to stay and the staff were so lovely and welcoming. My daughter loved the fries from the night before that much that she asked for them again for breakfast 😅 As weird a request it was at 9am, they did them for her. I think things like that really go a long way. We’ll definitely be staying again.

It is what it says on the tin; a pub with rooms.
Food was delicious (I had the chicken tagliatelle and home made sticky toffee pudding for dinner) and a great choice for brekky .... smoked salmon and scrambled eggs with ANCHOVY muffin was yummy.... but for a 'pub' to then charge an extra £3+ for a tea bag in hot water just left me feeling a bit miffed! The white wine (NZ Marlborough, £8.20 large glass) with the evening meal wasn't very chilled either and tasted much more like a Chardonnay). If you're going to offer these items, I think it's vital to get them right. Just my opinion of course

Bed VERY firm, pillows hard or lumpy
So didnt sleep well. But others may like this,
Constant fan whirring from kitchen below.
Carwash next door and garage ,some guy there 11pm With screaming kids! I know this isnt the hotels fault, but be aware.
The property has very heavy fire doors which inconsiderate neighbours on sunday kept slamming at night while going out for cigarette i assume . Again not the hotels fault but it adds up to not sleeping.
Also the room itself was VERY bland, marks everywhere, ripped headboard,scuffs,big bathroom with the smallest basin so awkward for washing face, or when my partner tried to shave, cant fill kettle up or bottle to replenish . Nowhere to put toiletries, which again lots of space for nice shelves or unit. Shower head needs changing. Silicon around tray needs replacing.
Its lots of little things.
Also the garden,huts need some loving. It could be so much nicer its a shame
Parking was plentiful, food was nice in restaurant. Didnt have brekky tho.

( but along a very busy main road!)

I did not stay at the Rowton Poplars Hotel, after becoming ill, and needing to return home. In spite of repeated, diligent efforts to communicate with Expedia via email, phone, live chat, and text, none resulted in my ability to communicate with them, and cancel my stay in a timely way, so I paid for three nights at a fairly expensive hotel for nothing. I really do not understand how Expedia cannot make at least one form of communicating with them work, since guests are traveling 24/7, and may have difficulties with lodging, rental cars, and other aspects of their trips. Expedia was NOT there for me in ANY way, when I needed them. No links on their website to cancel my stay were functional.

Small annex & en-suite. Room up one flight of stairs accessed off car park, but was hygenically clean, bright and snug. A nice bar and resteraunt downstairs, which doubles as breakfast area. Evening meals and breakfast selection are good value and very tasty.

Hotel has a very good location for proximity to Chester, Liverpool & Cheshire Oaks. The hotel is beside a very busy road day & night and this makes the room we stayed in very noisy. The receptionist at check in was very friendly & helpful. The room was clean & tidy just the low ceilings made it rather cramped.

I was on a course at Wrexham University and opted to stay just outside of Wrexham. Lovely little place. Spotlessly clean too. Lovely, friendly owners and a lovely bar meal had. The heating my in room was broken but was informed on check in and an alternative made available! Great!

Very small & noisy room with dwarf walls.

It’s an annex with dwarf walls on one side. You can’t use the toilet without banging your head against it. Windows are drafty and don’t isolate the noise from the main road. Room looked bigger in picture but is actually very small. Disappointing experience!

I received a warm welcome on arrival. The place is easy to find and has plenty of parking. Food is delicious! The stairs are a little steep, but I do have a sore foot at time of writing, so any stairs are a nuisance right now. I already booked my next stay!

Our family of ten stayed for three nights in five separate rooms. Overall the rooms were clean and comfortable but small. In particular, one couple stayed in a room on the main floor off of the bar and that room was super small. There is quite a bit of road noise but it quiets down during the night. The staff was super friendly. And the restaurant offered a variety of tasty options. The hotel is located just a few miles outside of town and has lots of parking.

Very confused by the number of 5* reviews as this wasn’t our experience at all. We wouldn’t stay again and certainly wouldn’t recommend to anyone else. Two biggest issues were that the hotel is right next to a main road that is incredibly noisy. The hotel provides earplugs, but if you’re at a stage of providing earplugs then really this should be stated in the hotel descriptions as light sleepers have no chance, not to mention the entire bed shaking as larger trucks go past. Second major issue is that our room was 2/3s half height due to slanted ceilings. As two tall people this was really inconvenient and proved a nightmare when it came to the shower which is tiny due to the restricted full height space. Windows also cannot be opened as clearly the hotel is very close to a farm or treatment plant, so the smell is awful. Outside of these issues, there were other minor ones such a no space to place bags or toiletries, plug sockets being totally inaccessible and poor quality toilet paper. Really this hotel should have its main issues cited on the website, though, as if you’re tall/have a bad back/are a light sleeper then this place just isn’t for you.

I stayed two nights in this hotel with my husband and my husbands relatives. It was mostly a good stay.

The room was clean and a good size for two people and had an en suite bathroom. It was not too far from where we were visiting which was a plus point.
Being of a certain age and not very mobile we were glad that we only had one flight of stairs to climb to the room.

The food we had was good but the service was a bit slow at breakfast time. To improve the comfort of the room it would have been nice to have had a chair to sit on for reading and/or using the computer.

The hotel was spotless and very clean, the amenities were great and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The area was nice and the free parking was a great addition. The only thing that made me upset was the noise from the room above. The noise woke me up early morning and I could hear each and every sound which was very irritating and I couldn’t go back to sleep. I stayed 2 days but it was the same, the squeaking of the door stopped after the first day when I advised the reception staff to oil it but the noise from the floorboards were too much. If you’re a light sleeper like me then you need to think otherwise all good!

Triple room, on the small side but okay for 3 night stay. We had room 3 which is above the bar, at the front of the Hotel. This unfortunately had some noise from the bar and road and shaking from the traffic , this being said you do get used to it and it would not really put us off returning.
Room cleaned daily. Comfy beds. Sound does travel through the rooms so expect some noise.
The breakfast was really nice with a good selection and value , we had one evening meal which was also nice.
The staff were really helpful and friendly and that’s what really made this place.
