Amazing apartment, only thing missing was tea towel and hand towels. Couple more pillows for sofa bed we had to use cousons from sofa but managed. Great location for city centre , bars and restaurants. Used car park under premier inn across the road .

Amazing value for money

Really lovely stay and great value for money if you are on a budget. The small double room is definitely small lol but it’s cosy and is perfect for 1/2 nights away. The noise from the pub really isn’t bad so don’t be put off and it’s actually a really nice pub with lots of interesting beers. Great location too.

Cheap accommodation close city centre

That was a good price for an accommodation so close main street in Chester. I've got an instruction how to enter , password to WiFi and all important information. It was clear how to check in and check out.
Room was tiny but I knew it before I booked and that was just for sleep anyway.
Apartment was very short walking distance to city centre and main street as well very close nice and big park.
Like I mentioned, the price was appropriate to this what we've got.
I've got just two suggestions.
I'm short (155cm height), if not my partner, I will not manage to reach the switches to ventilators which are located over the toilet's door , just under celling. Why they are in that place?
In toilet is no place at all to put toothpaste, cream, face wash or anything like that. Why not put a small shelf over there? It will cost just few pounds and will be so beneficial.
That's all what I will say. I was happy with my choice. I couldn't get anything better in that price.

Misrepresented and mis-sold. No mention of the extremely noisy pub downstairs before taking our money. Iron didn't work despite having contacted the property to confirm they had one before arriving. Bedroom was boiling hot in February. The fan listed in the amenities also didn't work. The property failed to co-operate in terms of a refund, despite us having to leave before staying a second night. Awful. Don't book any properties from this company, they deserve no custom.

The property is just a few minutes walk from Chester station and about 10 minutes from the city centre. We stayed in a small double en-suite room which was functional and had some nice extras such as tea and coffee, shampoo and shower gel and an ironing board with iron. I did need to contact the property to provide ID - they’d sent instructions via Expedia but there was no way for me to send a photo of my ID to them. However once I contacted them, this was resolved quickly and easily. The room was good value, quiet and comfortable, and was just what we needed for an overnight stay in Chester.

Overall review - okay

My room was small but perfect for one and the shower and sink worked well. However, if you’re wanting a good nights sleep you won’t get it here if you’re staying on the first floor due to noise and music from the pub next door. The mugs and sink were also dirty. I had safety concerns about the window too which, when opened leads to a drop off the roof and very unsafe. I am unlikely to stay here again.

Convenient if a little small

Very convenient location. Close to station and right in the canal, with a short walk to centre of Chester. Place was not amazing for a quiet stay, but you know this when booking. My room was super small, double bed but no room for a case - fine for solo traveller or lightly packed couple. Would not be comfortable for an extended stay.

Overall I was disappointed with Base Serviced Apartments.
Location was great but after that I would rate everything else, apart from cleanliness, as below average and expectations.
Access was tricky; there is no proper handle, on the outer door, and the drop box system was trickier than others I have encountered.
The heating did not work.
The room, itself, was tiny with old fashioned windows so allowing noise 8n and heat out.
All in all I would not recommend.
The stairs were very steep.

Unfortunately our overall 2 night stay at the Base Serviced Appartmemts City Road in Chester was very disappointing.Some of the communal areas were looking very dated and in need of an upgrade.Also really disappointed with the room we were allocated.In general a very poor standard.Think room 6 was supposed to be a small double room.It turned out to be tiny bedroom and bathroom.Would we stay here again.Absolutley not.would we recommend to any family or friends.Absolutely not.It is definitely not worth the prices that they are charging per night.Do not waste your money staying here.Wish we had read more reviews about this accommodation before booking.

The fire alarm panel was lit up like a Christmas tree with various faults showing.Informed the cleaner but 24 hours later still in fault, staying on the top floor very anxious due to this.You would expect an issue like this which is a major health and safety issue to be dealt with immediately.

Pay an extra £100 and stay at 5* hotel with breaky

We stayed in the room with on suite not the apartments. It was tiny, the shower cubical was in the bedroom with a toilet walled off in the corner. The bed was pushed up against the wall which meant climbing over my partner to get out. Not enough room to swing a cat (not that I would) we booked for 3 nights but left after 1 . Window open for airflow but then you had the noise from the hand dryer in the pub downstairs. Location was good.
Clean and tidy.
Double bed was ok.
Easy to pick up keys. Code for lock box was sent on day of arrival.

Not a good experience

The room was quite noisy. I kept hearing what sounded like a bathroom hand dryer going on and off until midnight. Presumably this was from the pub next door.
The fire alarm was triggered twice without apparent cause and with no one available to explain what was going on. Once was at 6am and the second at 1am.
During my stay my eyes became sore and watery. I think that this had something to do with the cleanliness of the bed sheets, as after a night back at home they seem to be getting better.
At the end of my stay i did not feel at all rested.

Details of how to access the front door and lock box were easy to follow.

The apartment block was disappointing as it smelt of stale smoke and looked a bit tired (need of decorating)

We booked the single room as there was no need for a kitchen or second bedroom. The room was disappointing in size as it was extremely small (barely enough room to walk around the bed let alone open your case on the floor). There was a functional ensuite but clear signs of damage from damp/leak and the shower wasn't used due to mould.

The room has wifi and a functional TV to use. There is an ironing board but again there no space to put it up in the room.

The room is located on top of a pub but this could not be heard (on the top floor where we were).

The room was very small as expected, unfortunately it was around 22 degrees the day that we stayed and the room was really hot. Luckily they provided a fan, but it didn’t really work that well. Same with the TV that’s fitted, didn’t have any signal whatsoever. Checkout was at 10am which wasn’t stated so if you’re a night owl I wouldn’t recommend staying here. You can stay for another hour for an extra £10. But in comparison, the price for this property you could also stay in the Travelodge nearby and have comfortable aircon, a bigger room and you can checkout midday. This was far cleaner than their rooms and a more comfortable bed but the cons tend to our way the pro’s.

This property needs to be precise on their ads as the room is very tiny like a box . The bed is comfy but you can only stand up the space is very limited . The worst is the shower is broken too hot you can not adjust it as its not working .it was room no. 6 . Its boiling and my hand accidentaly hit the metal pipe and burnt.😭 very dangerous !

A mini home away from home

Overall this was great and I'd definitely stay again.
+ really good value, similar price to a hotel room but giving you triple the space
+ good location for Central Chester
+ generous living space, decent sized bedrooms
+ perfectly adequate kitchen, hob/grill/oven/microwave/fridge
+ 2 bathrooms, one with a really decent shower and a larger bath than you'd expect.
+ well organised, easy to arrive and access the apartment.

There are a few negatives, but they didn't detract from the above too much
- some noise from the busy pub below
- could hear people walking about above us
- creaky floor in our apartment
- showing a bit of wear and tear in a few places

Although the location was good, this property was disappointing. The bedroom had no window which was clostrophobic. It was not well equipped and repairs were poor. There was a smell of cigarette smoke throughout the landing which could of been from the bar underneath, however it permeated into the accommodation. I would not recommend or stay here again .

The property was small but pleasing. The room was quite tiny but setup to maximize the space. The step up and down for the bathroom caught us by surprise a few times until we adjusted. The young woman who checked us in was very sweet but didnt understand some of our questions. Our first night their boiler or furnace must have went out because we have no heat all nkvht or hit water the next morning. Theres nothing like freezing all night and then a cold showsr when trying to warm up. The stairs are pretty steep and what they call the 2nd floor is actually the 4th. If you aren't able to walk the stairs, dont book this place. Otherwise, it was a great location and priced affordably. The hot water & heat going out were an unforseen inconvenience but it happens. All the other tenants during our stay experienced the same issues so we weren't alone in our suffering. I won't dock them for the issue as it wasn't their fault, just what happens with appliances. We would book again due to the great location and kind staff.

Access to laundry facilities not available until after check out; heater was broken and required that you go outside your unit to jiggle a building thermostat; fire alarm went off for 2+ hours and the only remedy was to wait for an employee to arrive from Liverpool (never arrived); ikea cheap overused furniture. Also the lights were sensor activated and the heavy doors to living room and bedroom could not be propped open.

Terrible service! Avoid!

The room was tiny, for a double room it was ridiculous the floor space wasn’t sufficient. We could hear a white noise, it went off every 30ish seconds we reported this to reception to which they responded they would get an engineer to attended the property but we had to go back to the room and wait for him as there was no other keys for the room?- we had plans that evening which were interrupted due to this. The receptionist put the phone down on me on two separate occasions when I tried to express my disappointment that we were being made to cancel our dinner reservations in order to fix the problem and wait an unknown amount of time. The only positive thing to note about the property is location and cleanliness. I sadly wouldn’t recommend this property!

The apartment was modern, clean and contained everything you needed. Staff were extremely helpful, checking in and out was super easy, even outside of checking in times. Staff so friendly, always asking if there is anything you needed. Great locations, surprisingly quiet. Oy issue was, there seemed to be no ventilation in the main bedroom and shower room. Also the sofa bed was not comfortable, thin springy mattress, sofa bed seemed to slope, so as my kids are adults, and had to share, found that there sleep was not restful. If the sofa bed was more comfy, than my review would have been 100%.

Was an overnight stop before my next journey so all I wanted to do was relax get some food and sleep.
The hostess was excellent super friendly and helpful couldn’t fault here.
In first glance everything looked great but on further looks one side of the radiator panels wasn’t attached properly.
The over head shower visibley needed a clean, the limescale build up was obvious.
There one black marks on my pillows as if they had no been washed correctly

Stayed for an overnight as a convenient stop over. Apartment was spacious, modern and clean. Good location in walking distance to town centre. Nice pub serving a good selection of real ales downstairs, this can be quite loud into the night so be aware of this if that would bother you. Loads of places to eat too but we cooked for ourselves in the full kitchen in the appartment.
Overall perfect for what we wanted and definitely beats a budget hotel like the one opposite ;)

Apartment fine but I was kept awake and then woken up bu a bunch of Spanish people staying at the apartments, but because there are no staff physically onsite after the check in window, you either suffer the noise, confront the idiots and tell them to shut up (and be ignored, as I was) or be a very very heavy sleeper!
Obviously was unlucky staying the same time as these scum but If like minded imbeciles stay the same time as your stay beware.

Fantastic loacation and apartment (but noisy)

The location of these apartments is wonderful. Plenty of shops, bars, restaurants and walking distance into the centre.

The apartment itself was clean, spacious and comfortable. Well above what we expected. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and happy to help with any queries we had.

Unfortunately the bar downstairs (which should have closed at 12:30 on a Thursday which we had factored in when we booked) was loud with music and many voices till gone 2:30am and the guests in the apartment above were up at 5am so we didn’t get much sleep.

Apart from this we all had a wonderful stay and would recommend these apartments to others.

The actual place was quite challenging to find, although we know now it is nice from the train station. Could do with some better signage.

Ok if you want to crash for one night on your own

Although we had been warned that the room was small and not like the photos on their web pages the room was exceptionally small......barely bigger than the small double bed that was in it. The only good thing was the large, powerful shower in a reasonable sized en suite. The TVs was situated close to the ceiling above the bathroom door which meant I got a stiff neck from trying to watch it!
Probably OK if you literally need somewhere to crash for one night on your own but not great for any longer as no storage for suitcases or clothes so living out of suitcase which was difficult with two people in the room.

The room was small but was made aware of this but was perfect for what we needed it for. However it is a over 25s hotel, some of the guests were acting 18! Running up and down the corridor to each other's rooms. Doors need the antislam catchers as the ladies in the other rooms where slamming there room doors and the corridor doors at 3am waking us up and also very loud screaming to each other from room at 7am!
