I was in room 314 first (the outside noise was bad, as if the windows were open), moved to 223 after and unfortunately it wasn't great either (outside noise ok, people slamming doors until early in the morning, our door was shaking every time, the TV kept making loud cracking noises all night - whilst being off, toilet wasn't properly clean - I can see either pee or spray splashes still on it, bathroom walls had hairs stuck, shower drain was very slow and the shower tap was leaking, stains on the carpets inside the room and cold in the room - the heater was very low power and no additional electric heaters available, cracked walls and full on spider cob above on the ceiling).Apart from that, internet was ok, the staff was nice and helpful. Breakfast: I wouldn't have it again (English breakfast with no tomatoes or mushrooms available...just beans, eggs, bacon and sausages).

The staff are lovely. Room was clean. Parking although extra was easy. Internet was good. Cooked breakfast adequate. Teas and coffees plentiful. There is a small bar. Location for town centre access great. Unfortunately there is road noise and the bedroom doors can slam loudly which is not great at 1am.

Breakfast was ok, there was plenty of choice but the fact that the bacon, eggs, sausages etc were kept in warming pots after cooking made them not 'nice' i expect if we had got up earlier it would have been fresher. Would suggest more frequent rotation of the cooked elements would improve the quality and make it much more enjoyable

When we arrived on the Sunday the staff couldn't be less helpful. I am a member at IHG and the first time we stayed here the receptionist made you feel very welcome but not this time. Different receptionist I should add. We arrived before check-in but were told no rooms were available which wasn't a problem and we were told point blank nothing until 2pm. Members don't get early check-in apparently, only 'Elite members'. When we returned we were issued our room which was fine except for only being able to access half a dozen channels on the tv. A member of staff offered to sort this out for us and came up to our room scanned a few channels on the remote and said sorry I can't help it's locked??? They did offer to change our room but we didn't want to wait around until 2pm the next day. When we asked if someone could sort out the remote the next morning we were told there was no-one onsite and that we had picked the worst week to book??? On the plus side the cleaning staff were great and the 2 guys on duty on Monday morning were much better and we couldn't fault them. We have been offered a discount which is very good of them but sadly we won't stay here again

Well placed hotel. Less than 10 minute walk to bars, restaurants, shops etc. Plenty of parking spaces. Pleasing to the eye reception area with nice comfy seating on arrival. Small issue on checking in but the lovely Emma sorted it all out for us with the minimum of fuss. All staff were extremely friendly and always had a smile for everyone they came into contact with. Good breakfast. Would recommend.

The hotel staff were lovely and couldn't do enough for you. Check-in was fast and welcoming. When we got to our room, it was time to go out and watch the fireworks. It was a cold night, we came back to the hotel and it was lovely and warm, the bar staff and security were so helpful, we had a takeaway and they allowed us cutlery and plates. Then in the morning, the breakfast was organised, no queue, you give your room number in and then you are seated. Good choice of food, bread, breakfast cereal, yoghurt, fruit juice, plus your bacon, eggs, and sausage. Can't wait to book again! room 116 Karen and Karl

Room was ok, but at the front if the hotel you can not sleep, the main road is just far to busy. Staff were very good and re located to a room on the rear if the hotel on the 2nd night.
Trays were empty of food on the 1st morning, but all full the next morning.
Very good location with parking at the hotel and very close to the centre, but I very much doubt I will stay here again unless I could guarantee a room at the rear of the hotel.

The ten pound parking charge on arrival was a big surprise,apparently it was mentioned on the site we booked with but was in such small letters we missed it just be aware this is a price per night. We have stayed here before and chose it because it was a five minute walk into the centre of Chester and it was just as good as our last visit. The staff from the carpark attendant, reception,cleaning and dining room where all great to deal with polite positive and very helpful. The hotel was well kept and the breakfast
Had enough variety, the only thing letting it down was cold plates. Great place to stay for a few days the cathedral was wonderful and has a good cafe. The walk round the city walls was fantastic , the shambles is always a pleasure to walk round,so much history and fantastic buildings. We will be back to do the boat ride and all the other things we could not fit in on this trip.

Do not stay here on race days.

Check out advertised as 11am on hotels.com but a sign in the room tells you that you have to check out at 10am.

Luggage storage advertised but you cannot use this on race days. Well, we were told it wasnt available when checking out, but another person was allowed to leave luggage!

We have previously stayed at this hotel which is the reason we chose to come back and the price was reasonable.
In comparison to previous visits we felt the property had aged and the quality of things such as the breakfast was poor. Additionally, there is no air con and the fan provided was covered in dust and insufficient to cool the room. It wasn’t the hotel’s fault that there was an exciting police car chase involving cars and helicopter but at 2am with the window open to try and cool the room, wasn’t ideal!
Parking was £10/night which seems reasonable given the hotels excellent location at the racecourse and close to the City Centre.
Staff were generally polite, friendly with reception a little slow.

The service and staff were wonderful. The heat of the rooms were unbearable and the pull out sofa for my daughter gave her a backache and she is small. There was no a/c only a fan but the window only opened about 4 inches with NO AIR FLOW.
