Everything was lovely and clean and staff we're very polite.

The bedside light didn't work in room 109 so had to get out of bed to put the light on and off

The bar unfortunately closed at 10pm and being sat outside we didn't hear last orders just before we were going to get our last drink for the night so had to walk uo the road to another pub thay was still open.
Would definitely stay there again

Not what I expected

We stayed at the Royal Oak for the last three nights of a two week vacation. The bedroom pictures make the hotel look more upscale than it is. We were not in the main building but in rooms that go over and across the parking area. The cons- It was rather humid and stuffy but there were no fans and the windows did not open fully, which was uncomfortable. It was clean, but felt more like an American motel, not hotel, which was disappointing.We were in a room about the outdoor restaurant which was noisy and didn’t close until 10 pm. The pros- The restaurant was quite good, the staff was friendly, and they served delicious full breakfast. I had higher expectations of the Royal Oak, so overall I feel disappointed.

Overpriced superior room with a shower that I couldn't get to work and a sink that was blocked. Food in the restaurant was limited and breakfast choice for people who don't want a cooked meal was pretty limited.

Restaurant trying to please all clients by offering a mix of everything other than normal food which is not spiced, full of lentils, noodles and vegan.

Disappointed especially as it wasn't cheap.

I found the welcome avange, the room spaceage but dark. Nothing special about the deco, the bed was comfortable.
We paid extra £15 each for breakfast. Well worth it, restaurant nice, service and food very good. I did feel pressured to book breakfast, I walked away then came back. Pleased I did.

Fabulous stay!

All the staff at the Royal Oak couldn’t have done anything more to help us during our stay. From advising us how to get to Pen-Y-Pass, which routes to take up Snowdon and where is good to eat.

The food was great and a good range of options for all on the menu.

Hotel itself is a little tired and could do with decorating in some places but it was clean and the bed was very comfortable.

Would definitely stay here again if I come back to do Snowdon again (which is likely) and would recommend it to others as well.

A delightful hotel, at once both old-fashioned and modern. A very pleasant Reception and an excellent restaurant for both dinner and breakfast. Slept well in a very comfortable room - (although I would have liked one 'soft' pillow). And all in all the hotel was central to a very pleasant weekend.

We had a lovely stay at TheRoyal Oak. Staff are very friendly. The rooms were kept very clean and fresh towels every day. We ate in the restaurant every night and the food was excellent. All in all it was a great stay.

Great hotel with friendly staff. The restaurant severed high quality food. Location is good and Betws-Y-Coed is a great place to stay in. The hotel in places is a bit tired but kept very clean and tidy. Our room was beautiful. We stayed in the deluxe double room. Again slightly tired in places and shower could do with a new shower head, aside from that I would definitely recommend this as a place to stay.

First class comfort and service

We really enjoyed our stay here. Our room on the front of the hotel was spacious and well equipped with a pleasant view, albeit with a little road noise if the windows were open. Parking is conveniently just across the road or round the back. The breakfast menu had a wide choice and the cooked food was to a high standard. Whilst there are a number of restaurants and pubs in Betws, we ate in the hotel each evening partly for convenience, but mainly due to the range of food available and its quality. My wife and I were celebrating a milestone birthday and the hotel team nicely delivered a couple of treats that our daughter had pre-arranged. My marking down of the hotel's eco-friendliness was because the towels were changed each day.

Great location, lots of food options for evening meals though the Stable area was packed both evenings we were there but still managed to find a couple of seats and food arrived quickly. Comfortable hotel and beds, friendly staff. Great location for walking. Helpful staff in the Tourist Information centre for local walk maps. Though there was lots of parking spaces, it was very busy in the evening which meant driving around a bit.
Very good breakfasts. Would definitely go back.

Lovely old building in the heart of a really lovely picturesque Welsh village. I had a superior double room facing out the front of the facing on tot he little river and park.

There is a lively bar next door. It shuts up arounf 10.00-10.30pm though , so there is no night time noise to be worried about at night.

Staff at reception were very welcoming and very informative.

I passed this place on a trip about a month ago and vowed I would stay there sometime.....that sometime came sooner than I thought.

It's a countryside hotel, it suits the locale.

We have been to Betws many times but have not stayed at a hotel. Familiar with the Royal Oak, we decided to stay in a superior room with breakfast. Expensive but worth every penny and exactly as described in marketing material. The only thing that was a bit troublesome was the TV reception (BBC only). Lovely people, great hotel, excellent breakfasts - perfect week.

Excellent stay. Although this hotel has been going for many years (I remember watching Krajicek's Wimbledon final in Y Stablau!), it remains full.of charm whilst gradually making changes to keep it to a good standard. The service and food is excellent with lots of Welsh produce in use. The latter is where my only criticism lies.....why use coffee from Ceredigion when there is a locally roasted and ethically sourced quality Eryri product available. It reduces food miles too. Something that should seriously be considered.

Beautiful Hotel very classic and in the lovely village of Betws y coed, our room was front facing looking over to the front car park, only thing was it was So warm in the night made it hard to sleep, Breakfast was a bit sparing One slice bacon one Sausage few mushrooms and you made your own toast,

The best thing about this hotel is the staff: all of them without exception were friendly and helpful.

The accommodation was clean and warm. We had a room at the front, on a main road, but the double glazing was fantastic, and the room was quiet.

this isn't a boutique hotel, but it really got the job done!

I paid £170 for a club room which was dated and in hindsight just too much compared to other hotels. The shower was ancient and it didn’t work, no shower gel provided, no fridge. Dirty glasses in the bar. A real shame - swerve this one

Pay attention to the breakfast

Cannot fault the staff but the Welsh breakfast was pretty dire, egg overdone, bacon dry, sausage dry, hash browns and black pudding dry and overcooked. We ordered off the menu on the understanding that everything was cooked to order but it turned up a couple of minutes later all pre cooked and really poor. In an attempt to salvage breakfast I went for a Welsh cake and it was stale.

Unfortunately we were on the second floor, no lift, no porter. But the worst thing was the stairs. 2 flights for each floor. The thought of returning to our room eventually took it's toll.
The top floor may be good for people climbing Snowden, but we'd come to relax and do some gentle walking. We returned home exhausted and yet the staff were so friendly, the hotel had a nice ambience, we were disappointed the stairs spoilt it for us.

Wonderful old stone hotel on the Conwy River. Warm, service-driven and friendly staff. Cozy but spacious lobby bar and restaurants. Lots of sitting nooks. Good food with mice vegan options. Ask whether you want fresh towels giving guests an eco option to say no. However, our room was so hot we had to open the window to avoid heat… not eco friendly.

Only key weakness was the WiFi. Often not working in our room and parts of the restaurant. Had to go to the lobby to get WiFi several times.

But, the overall ambiance makes it worth dealing with this one limitation.

Room tasteful, but considering it was a luxury room, the facilities were very basic.
When we arrived we were told there wasn’t any room service.
Shower barely a trickle, cold room, plug not working in the sink and a poo mark on the toilet bowl rim.
No water in the room. We had to pay £5 for one bottle!
No slippers as advertised.
If all the little extras had been better, then I would give a better rating, as the area is beautiful.

3 Days in Royal Oak Hotel

The hotel was dated, but the staff and the restaurant made up for this. It was a pleasant 3 day trip despite the rain. The downside was the cost, it was very expensive for a hotel room, especially with limited facilities.

I would summarise as an enjoyable trip, with very friendly helpful staff, an excellent restaurant, but value for money was lacking

The staff were friendly and helpful. Reasonable enough hotel, but could really do with updating and fresh redecoration. The wifi in our room was nonexistent and not great in rest of hotel(again just needs some modern equipment). Breakfast was v good and evening meal was excellent. Bed was comfortable, room was ok, with all standard requirements met but could do with redecorating.Clean enough throughout. For a midweek stay in November it was overpriced.
