We stayed in room 17 , the room was decorated in keeping with the theme of the hotel. I was so excited to celebrate my partner’s birthday with at the hotel which I made the staff aware of but nothing was provided to acknowledge this at all. Our room was so cold in the evening and when I told staff they brought us a portable heater. Our bed was whooped on one side. The springs were complete gone. The breakfast and lounge area was the highlight of our stay. It was very good.

Overall I would say for the price being charged the hotel needs an upgrade.

A really lovely stay , room was really nice although would have been really useless to have had a little fridge . Breakfast was ok - average but for the price it was fine. Staff were really friendly and efficient.

The property is a hotel/wedding venue. It’s beautifully decorated. Near to the highway and not far from Strewsbury. Nicely decorated living rooms and outdoor areas to sit in. Nice restaurant.

Fantastic but a couple of tweeks!

Fantastic hotel and i will return, but on the two evenings there along with other guests we had to walk to find staff for drinks and there wasnt on numerous occassions anyone on reception. They seemed to congregate in the kitchen area.

The staff were lovely with nothing too much trouble. The food was superb in an amazing dining room with proper tablecloths and napkins !

This is a wonderful 800 year old castle with no lift so, if you have walking difficulties, ask for a room on the first floor.

The public rooms are magnificent but the bedrooms, while perfectly comfortable, would benefit from being brought up to date.

Anyway, all in all a thoroughly enjoyable stay and we shall be sure to return.

Had a fantastic stay at this beautiful hotel. Only stayed for one night but we will defintely be back next time we are in England! The dinner in the restaurant was amazing and the staff went over and beyond the service letting us enjoy the lounge/bar for the evening. In the morning enjoyed a great breakfast

The approach to the hotel is through beautiful surroundings beautifully tended. The gardens are manicured and a relaxing environment to spend time.

The welcome from Debbie was both friendly and remarkably efficient (she didn't even have to ask our names) and the service she provided throughout our stay was even better. The room - and especially the bed - was comfortable and clean with a lovely view over sweeping fields.

The restaurant was charming and quiet, albeit a little warm on the first sunny day we've seen for a while. The menu offered sufficient choice (not too much), the food was good, well cooked, and the starters were excellent. Service in the restaurant, both at dinner and breakfast, was outstanding - with especial thanks to Lewis (Luis??) for looking after us - and retrieving my hat when I left it under the table.

We only stayed one night, as a half-way stopover between North Wales and Birmingham but we will be going back for longer. I can see how this place is attractive as a wedding venue but it's equally as attractive as a peaceful retreat at any time. Marvellous - and I can't praise the staff enough.

Outstanding in every way.

Simply the best hotel I have stayed in in over 10 years. The castle itself was stunning to behold and the grounds were breath-taking and incredibly well kept. Parking was spacious and easy to locate. Apon entering I was greeted by the wonderfully friendly and professional staff. So kind and welcoming nothing was too much trouble simply a credit to the hotel.
The interior of the castle was so beautiful i will remember it for many years to come, Very historic an steeped in history it was a joy to behold, truly. My room (9) was well no other word suites, perfect. Spotlessly clean and easily the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. Period correct antique furnishings really set the mood for this remarkable experience.
Bathroom was fabulous also clean and well appointed no complaints. The grounds are amazing and well worth a look around very peaceful and a feast for the eyes. My sleep was again perfect and incredibly silent no disruptions all night so very pappy indeed.
I was greeted by the lovely lady during Breakfast in the morning, she was so friendly and a credit to the hotel again nothing was too much bother 10/10. The breakfast itself was so delicious and very well presented and quality of ingredients was top drawer which I appreciate. Highly recommended.

20th wedding anniversary

We stayed for 2 nights for our wedding anniversary, we had married at Rowton Castle 20 years ago. It was pleasing to see that not a lot had changed, it was still as we remember it with only a few additions. Staff were all very attentive and keen to ask how things were when we married 20 years ago. Food was excellent and reasonably priced, together with the drinks. Rowton remains a lovely comfortable \"grade 2 listed\" property with alot of period features, including uneven floors in the bedrooms. We would highly recommend a stay and we will certainly look to visit again.

Everything about Rowton is amazing, the place itself is beautiful and so well looked after. It was like staying in a stately home. The staff we really friendly and helpful. We had breakfast their which was lovely to. Would recommend it to anyone, you can’t go wrong with Rowton it’s just beautiful

Beautiful in the outside but….

The hotel itself all the staff and its grounds are wonderful, with a small exception to a couple of dead flies in the overhead shower light which is y a great view whilst showering!! The food (dinner and breakfast) didn’t meet expectations and were disappointing, small fine food but not fine dining taste, breakfast buffet was limited no pastries and cooked food was bland and very standard. Shame as the settings are so lovely.

An impressive building but bed was too firm, in-room facilities just adequate and food average. The front of the building suggests a truly special stay but in reality the hotel is nothing special and certainly does not stand out from the crowd at this price. That said, the staff were very helpful and friendly. More a wedding venue than a special hotel. 3 star at most.

One of our favourite places anywhere!

This was possibly (probably) the best hotel stay that we have ever had in many years of travelling together. The property is charming, the location beautiful, the rooms memorable, the cuisine excellent and the service absolutely exceptional. And it is also amazingly good value. After two nights in October 2019 we didn´t want to leave and couldn´t wait to return.
