Excellent breakfast, some training required junior staff. Downstairs excellent service. Room very comfortable but the windows need urgent attention. Filthy between the wood frame and the glazed glass. Noise level from road very bad. We have stayed 3 other times and will stay again but always in winter months when window can remain closed. Council need to slow down traffic going past with road bumps and definitely needs speed cameras. Despite all that a besutiful hotel and clearly popular and food lunch and breakfast excellent. Beds incredibly comfie.

Absolutely fabulous place to stay, such a central location in this lovely town. Lunch was faultless in the 2 AA Rosette restaurant both the duck and the lamb shank were perfect. The studio room was great with it's own sitting room, plenty of room, lovely comfortable bed and the addition of a fridge which is a bonus as we have medical supplies which have to be kept cold. Breakfast buffet all looked amazing but we opted for the full English which was an absolute delight, service once again excellent and beautifully cooked and presented with local produce used. Would definitely recommend.

The room clean and spacious. It was warm weather and two fans were available in the room but the standing one was too dusty. Breakfast had good selection both cooked and continental.
The entrance to the parking was too narrow and can only be approached from the other side of the road.

There is free parking but wd parked at the ncp which is literally across the road .

With its exposed beams and spacious layout, the loft suite we stayed in for one night had a quirky charm and was attractively furnished. Our first impression was one of amazement.
Unfortunately, the outside temperature was around 30°C, and the room lacked air conditioning.
To make matters worse, the exhaust from the restaurant’s air conditioning unit was located right next to the room. It produced a noise comparable to an airplane taking off and woke us up at 7:00 a.m.
The mattress was also too soft for our comfort.
On a positive note, the service was prompt and friendly, the breakfast was tasty, and parking was free.

Liked:- the friendly staff, the overall cleanliness of the room, the lovely towels and the comfortable bed. The bottle of tap water replenished each day.

Not so much:- the room had hanging space but no drawers for storage and a very slender table area that was crammed with a tea tray, the tv, a kettle and a lamp (all three vying for the only two wall sockets right under the table). No biscuits on the tea tray (a small detail but a fairly standard provision). In the bathroom, rust marks on the replacement loo roll stand and staining on the radiator. Breakfast was hit and miss. My partner’s was fine but mine not so much; on day one they had run out of the avocado option and on day two my vegetarian option had both lukewarm beans and lukewarm v. sausages, inedible.
Overall, it definitely didn’t feel AA 4 star experience.

A lovely hotel with excellent staff. Located in the centre of the town. Car parking accross the road at a NCP car park. Not suitable for disabled people as lots of stairs and no lift. Had a shower over the high bath but no bath rail was there to help slipping. Food good and I would recommend this hotel.

Hard to access parking, but plenty of room once in.
Friendly receptionist, nice room, comfy bed. We worried it would be noisy as the room faced the street, and was noisy all day, but was quiet while sleeping. Breakfast was good, we ate dinner elsewhere so can't comment.
Easy walk to see all of Shrewsbury.
A few minor annoyances:
1. Walking around the room made the hangers in the wardrobe rattle, due to loose floorboards maybe, - we had to take them out.
2. The key didn't initially work, reception very helpful. Turns out there was a knack 'some are a bit sticky'.
3. We went for a walk before checking out and found they'd already cleaned the room when we returned, which made us feel guilty for washing our hands!

The staff was pleasant and cheerful both at check-in and in the restaurant. We stayed for two days. What was surprising to me is the fact that we had no housekeeping. No turn down, no cleaning of the room, making the beds, refreshing towels, nothing. I wonder if this was carried over from Covid when staff were not entering guests rooms but at the rate we were paying I expected housekeeping. I was told at check out if we wanted housekeeping, we should have requested it. I find this to be a bit absurd. It’s the reason I choose to stay in a hotel rather than an Airbnb.

This is well appointed spot with great walkability to shops and restaurants. Solid breakfast included in the rate, and staff seemed very pleasant. However, we stayed for 3 nights, and our room wasn't cleaned once. We asked for cleaning after the first night, but when it didn't happen, we gave up. It's too bad - this place would be perfect if they paid closer attention to all the details that go into a lovely stay.

From the welcome when we arrived to the moment we left we felt valued and well taken care of. Drinks in the relaxed bar before dinner, the most comfortable bed I’ve slept in for a very long time, super bed linen, soft towels and a lovely view across the English Bridge. Then the best breakfast I’ve had in a very long time too.
I really appreciated the decor at the Lion and Pheasant, very stylish, with what looks like Farrow and Ball Light Blue on woodwork throughout which made the thoughtfully modernised old building appear very tastefully fresh, nothing stuffy and dated here.

We stayed for one night in the loft suite. The room was comfortable and quirky. The staff were very good and the breakfast was very enjoyable. The only negatives are.
The bath in the room is very small only one person can just about fit.
The bins are emptied very early creating a lot of noise.

Reception were helpful in trying to resolve but could not give us the room we booked. They did however upgrade us from the standard room we were first given.

Booking-in was easy and Meg at reception was exceptionally friendly and helpful.
Location ideal for town centre shopping etc.
We were in Room 8 overlooking the main thoroughfare and very close to the English Bridge - the room was extremely noisy despite the use of ear plugs provided in the room. Had to keep the windows shut to reduce the noise but this had the negative effect of making the room uncomfortably warm. In hindsight, we should have asked to be moved to a quieter location.
The bathroom was very well appointed but it was very dark for make-up and shaving - it was much lighter in the shower cubicle!!! Bath towels were big, fluffy and lovely.
The pillows were very uncomfortable and needed replacing.
The length of the curtains were too long and spread onto the floor area creating a trip hazard.
Didn't have an evening meal so cannot comment on this. However, we had an early breakfast in our room because we had an early start - the breakfast was of very good standard brought to us by two ladies who were very pleasant and obliging.
We would definitely stay here again, but would make sure we were roomed to the rear of the hotel.

This is a very characterful hotel well situated near he river ,for walks, and on the edge of the town centre for shopping.
Our deluxe room (4) was spacious and uncluttered and the bed was very comfortable. As it was on the front there was some road noise but not enough to keep us awake.
If I was being picky the room was a bit too spartan and could do with more than the one small picture and the shower/bath controls were a bit tricky.
To end on a positive note, the cooked breakfasts were suburb

Looks beautiful but not a great stay for us

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The building was beautiful and the room very pleasant to look at. Sadly, the noise was so bad that my husband and I had very little sleep at all. There was a constant dripping sound and the traffic noise was bad. The guests in the room above ours were incredibly loud and sounded as though they were throwing things around. We do appreciate that the hotel cannot control this but maybe a thought for the future would be looking at some sort of soundproofing. Also, the television was set to the left of the bed which meant that after a time both of our necks were aching.
We were really disappointed as the pictures on the website and the cost of the room suggested that we would have a great stay but this was, unfortunately, not the case.

Hotel was very well situated and clean . We opted for a room on the third floor - not the smallest but it was a bit tight for space but they do warn you in the description . What was more of a problem was that it was a warm summer day and we had to have the windows open all the time which meant the kitchen extractors pumped cooking fumes out nearby and made our room stink. I’d recommend a room on the front or side in the summer months .

Our stay was amazing, from the moment we arrived and parked the friendliness, and superb attention was second to none. The staff are plentiful and couldnt do enough to make our 1 night stay so special. It was a Birthday treat for my friend and the food was outstanding for our evening meal. Our cocktails were also made to perfection and great live music as well. and Breakfast too was home cooked at our chosen time slot. Amazingly helpful and accommodating staff. My son was staying with his grandparents nearby and started to feel a bit unwell. He really wanted to spend the night with his dad and I. I asked at reception if they could help and the receptionist managed to move us to an alternative family room. It was perfect and thankfully after a comfortable night’s sleep, he was back to his usual mischief! Thanks again for being so understanding.
