Hole in bath towel- and the one it was replaced with.
Poor communication with spa. Tried to book a massage on 2 occasions in week preceding stay. It went to ansafone saying to leave a message and they would get back.. They never did and no massages available when we tried again on arrival. Tea/ coffee/milk not refilled in room. Other issues too. On plus side they did try and recify and on departure decreased cost paid for room.

Hotel and rooms need a lot of TLC, water takes a while to heat up and when it does the pressure in the shower is awful. Pool wasnt bad but there were no spa appointments avaliable depsite having a membership. And the junior suite dosent look like the photos. Ended up makkng a complaint andnit was rectified but still not happy with my stay. Wasnt worth the money I paid.

Upon checkin was told that due to booking through a third party there was a £10 charge to use the gym. On the expeida site its says £10 to use the pool. This is something the hotel has introduced presumably because the gym has all new kit a short time ago. Be aware as this is something I refused to pay and was eventually waived. Room was ok - premium, may be not.

Friendly helpful staff, and a large clean room, the cleaning team were all friendly and helpful too. Shout out to the lady who made me a coffee - without asking, when I was working on my laptop in the bar area - very thoughtful - it was appreciated.
The house and setting are beautiful, could do with a little updating in places.

Stayed for 2 nights in January 2026.
The good bits - the hotel grounds are lovely, the room was clean and well proportioned and the breakfast was good. It would be pleasant if some benches could be put in front of the hotel to allow guest to sit and look at the grounds.
The not so good bits - 1)There are lots of stairs 2) The only way to our room in the hotel was through a conference room. If this was occupied, we had to walk outside in the open. 3) The lift to our floor was out of order and had been for about 3 weeks - appalling for guests and staff. 4) the evening meal was poor - the burgers were burnt - we should have complained about this but we were too tired and hungry to wait for a replacement.
In summary, this was not a 4* experience.

We have stayed here several times but on this occasion one of the rooms we had was damp and smelt of damp. Arriving in time for a bar meal we didn’t check the room until we retired and as it was quite late we didn’t complain. Informed reception in the morning but the receptionist was not apologetic but asked why we hadn’t brought it up the night before.

Room was fine and got an upgrade as have a dog. Booked for the spa but when I arrived at 6:40 they said it was closed the the jacuzzi broken. Could access the following day however....I was leaving early doors so wouldn't be able to sadly. Thought I'd make up for it with a hot toddy sadly no one really knew how to make one so got a warm whisky with a slice of lemon and a glass rim of cinnamon as garnish. So erm not quite a hot toddy. Look it was a lovely place with nice grounds and the staff were all pleasant and it was the end of the holiday season so likely completely over it which I understand. Too much information I am sure. Overall was clean and that's what I needed.

Stayed a couple of nights due to its convenient location. Great to have a leisure club attached. The staff were all great, the food and bar service was good. Breakfast was nice too.
My wife and I did find the bed a little uncomfortable due to it being 2 single mattresses joined together so it had a ridge down the middle. If you want to use the Spa then book early. Friday evening had an amazing keyboard player entertaining in the bar providing background music which was a nice touch.

Hotel is definitely not 4 star and neither is the service. I’d give it 2 at a push. We really found the whole experience below standard. Personally I’d avoid staying there. Rooms are tired and dirty. Our “Premium “ family room was missing a wardrobe door. Had dirty marks all over the walls and the bathroom was dirty when we arrived. With a baby and a young child was not ideal. The greeting at reception was transactional at best and they neglected to mention the restaurant was about to be fully booked up. As such we could only us the bar and were told we had to chance a table as it was busy (great service with two hungry young children). As for the spa! Was dirty in the changing rooms and needed a good clean. No padlocks for hotel guests so don’t take valuables! No shower gel or shampoo in all the ladies or men’s showers for three days!! We told spar receptionist three days in a row and were told “waiting for the delivery “. I mean really… how you run a pool and spa without stock of basic things like this will never know. Basic hygiene missing I think!
All in all not the four star hotel break we were expecting so I’d personally steer clear.

The hotel was exceptional , the rooms were amazing and the food was 5star .
The only issue we have is the manner that the head or I presume the head of service in the breakfast restaurant spoke to her staff . She in our view needs to put on a course for man management. I have to say if we had been spoken too the way she addressed her staff we would have walked out . She was the only let down in the whole of the hotel .

Lovely hotel, lovely staff. Beds were comfy, room was clean and spacious but was cold would have been nice to of been able to turn on the heating. Breakfast was okay, all hot and cold drinks were cheap and discusting didn’t taste of anything shame we couldn’t of had someone take our order for either tea or coffee and had a pot of tea or coffee made for us, as the machine was vile and was great hassle to get one with it being crowded. The juices were not good tastless. Wasn’t enough tables for everyone people were having to wait around. Could of easily been better.

We enjoyed our stay.
We knew that the hotel would be in need of some updating from the reviews.
The staff were friendly and helpful
We were a bit disappointed that our kingsize bed was actually 2 zip and link beds with a join down the middle-a kingzise mattress cover would elevate this.
We were offered an alternative so that was good but we chose to stick.
The room was a good size and had a nice outlook over the lake
The pool and spa area were pleasant and we enjoyed the sauna steam room and pool with the outlook over fields and sheep.
We had breakfast at the hotel and that was buffet style with a good selection of hot and cold.
It would have been nice if we
Could have ordered poach eggs as part of the included breakfast.
The room was grand and nicely set.
We did not use the bar or restaurant for evening meals.
The area is lovely countryside with Shrewsburys shops and restaurants nearby.
We Used Tesco vouchers for our trip and used Walrus and Hencote restaurants nearby-both highly recommended. We will return to this area.

The hotel pool advertised a jacuzzi but had not been working for weeks.
At weekend the pool facilities like the steam room was turned on at 0800 then took ages to be ready and unables to used.
The room was ok but lacked finer points like drawers, hooks to hang clothes. Tea milk ect, was not referbished the next day. Radiator and electric heater not working. Toilet not easy to flush and did break bown.
Did not like the only one option on the menu for dinner in the restaurant on Friday and then the same on Saturday.

Nice hotel, good breakfast, great gym! Slightly let down by tired looking decor and early finish for ordering in the restaurant (8:45). Also disappointed that the fine dining was only available at weekends.

Lovely location&building,poor upkeep & housekeepin

Stayed for 3 nights at the Albrighton. All the staff were really friendly and helpful, from reception to breakfast and bar..
We had a superior double, lovely quality robes and slippers, and also quality soap toiletries.
The Spa is really tired, tiles in the pool missing, Jacuzzi not working as waiting for a new one, shower in the ice room broken, not a nice experience. We each had a back massage and have to say this was a great experience and worth the £44 each paid.
Housekeeping is the area that really lets the hotel down, webs in the bedroom ceiling, sick not cleaned around the taps, door grubby where you would touch it to enter. The whole hotel reflects this and is why I'm scoring as okay

Some areas of the property are looking tired and in need of refurbishment.
We were disappointed to return to our room after a day out only to find it had not been serviced apart from a set of towels being replaced that didn't need to be. When we reported this we were told that the Service staff had finished for the day. So we had to do it ourselves. Compensation amounted to 2 G & Ts!!

The new ownership by Radisson has not improved this hotel - YET!

The grounds were well kept and added to a peaceful atmosphere. The Junior Suite i stayed in had a great design with archways and wooden beams , it was spacious and comfortable.
They could do with a more electronic booking managmeent system as paperwork can be lost . I wasnt entirely sure what features were reserved - eg late check out or an evening meal in which restaurant . The room service was very good nonetheless.

Have stayed here before, normally fab . Recentlt taken over by new franchise group . Top room in schoolhouse , room 40 i think . Lovely size room but could see springs through bed mattress , should never have been offered room . Room 22 small but lovely bed . Swimming pool cold . No jacuzzi as being replaced . Tom on reception and Steph on leisure staff brilliant . Boiler had gone down on pool , usually one of best pools for temp

Very old building so appreciate that it can’t be as spotless as new hotels but there were old dead flies on the windowsill in the dining area and huge spider dead in the swimming area. Tiles in the pool cracked and jacuzzi not working was a bit disappointing. We were upgraded to a suite at the very top of the building which was very nice but lots of steps to climb. I think this was because the hotel had 2 coaches of elderly people who most probably would not have been able to manage. Breakfast was very busy also because of this and had to wait for ten minutes for a table. All in all it was an ok stay

Stunning Setting, Disappointing Details

The hotel is stunning, but the service was disappointing. At check-in, no information was provided about the breakfast times, the location of the breakfast room, or the spa facilities. I had to ask multiple questions to get even the most basic details, which left a poor first impression.

Housekeeping was also inconsistent, with unvacuumed carpets and bathroom bin left uncleared.

Overall, while the hotel’s appearance and some staff members impressed, the lack of clear communication, inconsistent housekeeping, and poor spa management took away from what could have been a truly enjoyable stay.

Lovely setting & comfortable room

Lovely hotel, really liked the garden out the front and the seating outside. Shame the umbrellas on the tables weren’t working. The room in the stable building was nice & a comfortable bed but the door to leave the building banged every time someone went through it that we could hear in the room.

Okay stay

Pleasant enough hotel check in not very helpful no information about the hotel other than where the room was.
Not very clear at booking that it wasn’t a half board package, as booked, but actually bed & breakfast with a £25 contribution to dinner (which didn’t go very far)
Dinner and breakfast were okay apart from sunny D at breakfast, a quality hotel with no fresh orange juice was a bit disappointing

Facilities and Service

We booked a family room for 2 adults and 2 children, but the sofa bed was only made up for 1 person. 1 set of towels and 1 pillow. I informed reception and I was willing to wait for the pillow as the kids were ready for bed, but they said they would deliver them. It was after 10.30pm on them delivering them and we were all in bed!!
We were also very disappointed that the jacuzzi was out of order as the spa facilities was the main reason for the stop over at this particular hotel.
The breakfast was very tasty.
