The staff were all so lovely and welcoming, it didn't feel too pretentious at all. Our room was gorgeous and extremely spacious, the bed was lovely - clean, soft and crisp sheets. Plenty of storage and seats in the room and a dresser/desk.

We booked this hotel because of a wedding not far from the hotel. The room was clean, the staff was extremely welcoming and generally lovely!
Overall great atmosphere.
Some fixtures in the shower were a little bit dated and may need updating, but took nothing away from our lovely stay.

The hotel didn’t have the courtesy to tell us that they were having a private event which took over the entire ground floor rooms including the main dining room.
Because of the fact that great numbers of the party guests were standing all over the dining area, plus the extremely loud disco and pop up casino. It was impossible for us to have dinner, so we had to go out about 12miles to find a restaurant on a Saturday night that wasn’t full.
Terrible stay , never would go back.
Breakfast was mediocre, and needed replenishing.

The reason I gave the 2 stars for check in is actually disappointment with Expedia because we were put in an accessibility room which was small and dingy. The hotel did find us an alternative room but it wasn't a nice experience having to complain as soon as we arrived.

contacted the hotel a couple of days before arrival to discuss dietary needs as I have life threatening allergies.. great helpful response. But on arrival there was no food they put an emergency meal together which was tasteless and proteinless.. I told the waiter I couldn't eat.. I had a couple of mouthfuls .. and yet they still charged me £22 for it.. because of the difficulty I was left weak as rice in bland tomato juice was all I had eaten all day.. so unable to argue at the time. I showed them the email sent as proof but they didn't care. If I had nothing in advance it would be my fault but I did so it is all on the hotel.

Staff were great but that's about it. After checking in we went to our room, only to find no power in the bathroom. Very helpful person on the reception showed us where the fuses were to reset, which indicated it's happened before. Showered
Showerhead wouldn't stay upright so had to hold it. Also damage to the wall (a hole) in the bathroom that hadn't been fixed.

Breakfast is ok if you like a full English, but if you want anything else, it's very limited. Now we know why breakfast was a low additional extra.

Probably fine for a weekend if you're a golfer, but for anything else, try somewhere else

Fine for a weekend but wifi was awful

The hotel was fine. Rooms were nice and big, with tvs, nice amenities etc. but the beds and pillows weren’t very comfortable. The biggest downside though was that the wifi was extremely unreliable, and there wasn’t great service to even use our phone data. Couldn’t stream anything, it constantly just stopped working or wouldn’t load, and we literally gave up on trying and watched things we had already downloaded to our computer. This place is fine for a weekend if you want somewhere to crash but don’t go there expecting to be able to do work or stream things.

We stayed on a very quiet evening mid January for dinner, bed and breakfast. I imagine the hotel would be very different on a busy day in summer when it was full. We had a fantastic relaxing stay. Great shower, comfortable bed and spacious room.

Storm Darragh!

I arrived after a rather heart-stopping journey through Storm Darragh. And as I was checking in the power went off. There were a few refugees from the storm and staff who couldn't get home after their shift. The kitchen was in darkness and powerless so no food available but the bar did stay open! The staff were cheerful and helpful finding a duvet to wrap up a chilly lady. True community spirit at it's best!

Good and bad for this really lovely place.

Bathrooms are badly designed. Red hot towel rail right in front of toilet, burned my arm when turning from toilet to sink as bathrooms are very small.
Beds are amazingly comfortable.
Reception staff on saturday afternoon into night were fabulous.

DOGS IN RESTAURANT should not be allowed, not everyone likes dog everywhere! Especially in this quality of hotel.

We stayed here prior to a wedding locally. The staff were excellent and could not have been more helpful. The room was very clean with a huge bed although the bathroom was small. We had an excellent two course dinner and the full cooked breakfast was also very good. This hotel represents very good value for money. We would stay there again.

On checking in the member of staff on reception (I didn’t get her name!) was really friendly and helpful, we had a very pleasant over night stay, a full explanation was given regarding our dog (where we could walk/tables in hotel) meal on the evening and breakfast was very nice! the decor inside looked fairly new but the outside of the hotel looked tired and in need of a freshen up!
When we came to check out the staff member on reception ignored us for about 5-10 mins until I said “do we just leave the room cards here?” She replied “yes”
Not sure if she was reception staff but either way she should have asked us if we needed help or that someone would be with us soon!

Room was dirty and dusty, towel
Rails were gross, wobbly tap, access to the two pin plug charger on the mirro blocked by the soap dispenser, unfinished window repair, lamps in the hotel lounge were really dusty. Golf shop staff on both days pretty bloody miserable and unwelcoming.

Reception staff were great on arrival as were the bar staff in the evening.

Bunkers in the golf course were a disgrace!

We stayed here prior to a wedding at Hawkstone Hall, We preferred this hotel to Hawkstone Hall where we stayed only for convenience of being in wedding hotel.
We were a party of 10 , 5 adults and 5 children spread amongst 4 rooms, 2 family, a twin and a double. The double room turned out to be a twin also but staff immediately offered to change. The staff were lovely, from reception to bar to restaurant. They couldn’t do enough for us. We would definitely stay here again.

The room was very small and was situated near to the function room where there was party on until late. I feel I should have been told I would hear the music when given my room. I asked for another room but they said the hotel was full. Function finished around 1am so I had to listen to the very loud music until then. Won’t be staying there again

The hotel is adequate. The staff are friendly and efficient.
The exterior is badly in need of re-decoration and internally the hotel is dated.
Evening menu is limited and basic and the food is like canteen food but, I guess, serves a purpose.
The breakfast buffet is good and limitless. However, the sausages are awful. They must be the cheapest available, tasteless and with a horrible texture. This always annoys me, because even very good sausages are relatively inexpensive.

The hotel itself has some beautiful views. Short distance from the mx track which was why we booked as we had a weekend of racing. On arrival the lady on reception was welcoming and friendly, so was the bloke who was also in reception- I think he might’ve been a doorman / security maybe? Very chatty friendly guy while I waited for my other half to come back with our bags.
The room was very clean with a big comfy bed. There were lots of people staying there that weekend for golf & there was a wedding, however it didn’t seem crowded at any point.
Our room faced into the “courtyard” / bar & outdoor area and we didn’t hear a thing from the wedding party / bar when we got back after dinner, we couldn’t hear the music either which was a bonus too!
Breakfast was really nice, shame there was only fried eggs but still a great breakfast to set us up for the day, the usual cooked breakfast items available and there was a variety of freshly cut fruit on offer too.
If we are around the area again we’d definitely look to book again!

Room was clean, modern and recently decorated and is great if you like wall-to-wall grey. Our room was located near the bar and stairs, so pretty noisy if you are a light-sleeper. Coffee was weak and breakfast was mediocre, firstly it ran out and then when it did arrive, it wasn't the best quality food. If you're staying on a B&B basis, you should at least get a good night's kip and a decent breakfast, but in all honesty I cannot say we had either! Overall it was reasonable value for money and the location is beautiful, very peaceful. If golf is your thing, you'll probably love it

When I arrived I was not greeted politely when I asked to change somewhere I was met with check-in isn’t until 2. I was told to go to the golf club to change and the guy would take me over by the time I finished signing the paperwork given to me he was gone. Walking past anyone in the club or hotel I was met with a disapproving stare when I got to the room in the evening I went to the bar for a drink and again was met with disapproving stares from the other people there. In the morning I went into the bathroom when I saw the dark mark under the shower soap box which did not look like the vale that I paid for the room I didn’t get to shower cause it felt and looked dirty. When I went down for breakfast I was told it finished at 10:30 when I checked-in I got down just before 10:00 and it was being packed away I asked for bread to at least make a sandwich and one of the girls on breakfast was the only one that made feel welcome when I asked for a glass of orange juice and she delivered advice for anyone staying it’s a very uncomfortable and unwelcoming place to stay unless your in golf attire I guess cause I was constantly being judged by those that were dressed like that and certain staff to. I work in the industry of hospitality and I can see there was little to no care on how they made me feel all they wanted was my money

Reception Staff Caitlin was extremely help full. The room assigned to us was up 2 flights of stairs. This was not acceptable as we have a dog who needs have a walk at night. To ensure no mess in room. Caitlin found a ground floor room which was great. Cheryl the staff manager was very helpful when we went for breakfast. The hotel is a golf club excellent accommodation and very quite. Nearby there are some follies which I highly recommend for a visit.

The hotel for the price paid was overpriced, breakfast was only served from 7:30-9:30, this seems very early for breakfast to close. The hotel room was average and all you could hear in the morning was hotel room doors banging closed.

If youre looking at staying here if you're attending a wedding at hawkstone hall and youre relying on alternative transport I wouldn’t for a 6 minute taxi ride it cost £28! For the price I paid for this room, the taxi and the hassle it ended up being the same price at hawkstone hall.

Our room was in a separate annex to the hotel. This was accessed via metal stairs on the outside of the building. When wet these were very slippery and as my husband of 83 has reduced mobility the steps presented a hazard. The room was small and I was very glad we were only booked for one night.The outside landing light did not work.

After filling in quetions online, had to do it again at check in, room was a long way up stairs, then down stairs & up again, requested bed to be split for second night, was told that house keeping would do it in the morning, itwas not done, on arriving in room second night, no milks had been restocked & there was no sweetners for Coffee, I was not prepared to walk all the way to reception to ask for milks or Sweetners.

Obviously catering for golfers who dont care about the lack of information about the facilities. Under trained bar staff who didnt know what sherry was and served it a brandy glass!

My Stay at Hawkestone Park

Overall trip was good for an all male golfing trip. We were surprised that the hotel did not have facilities for watching BT sport and must have lost a lot in bar takings. The lady on reception when we checked in could not find our reservation for a while and had to look in different places and didn’t seem to know we had checked in online. The rooms are very basic and small and not very sound proof and the water pressure is not great on the shower. The room service was very good and the selection of beer is better that last year. The breakfast is really good as was the dinner. The sandwiches in the clubhouse are very mixed the ham and cheese was very poor value being basically 2 bits of bread a cheese slice and piece of ham for about £8. In contrast the breakfast sandwiches and fish finger sandwiches looked to be much better value. The main point of the trip was the golf and the quality of the courses is amazing - well done to the Green keeping staff for that

Check in was ok however when we got to the room there was an infestation of fly’s. We had to change rooms.

Breakfast was good.

We booked the room via Hotels.com I chose the pay at the hotel at a price of £125.00 for the night. I day before my arrival I was charged £149.00!! After several conversations and lots of lengthy online chats over 6 days they have agreed to give me the difference back however this is yet to be refunded!!

Won’t be staying here again and won’t be using hotels.com again

The carpet was stained. The room key failed every day & it took 3 or 4 trips to reception to resolve. They don’t accept Amex for payment. The menu very limited. I won’t stay there again

Beautiful place but facilities for a wheelchair user in what was described as an accessible room were disappointing. No proper rails round toilet; hand basin far too high; no mirror at useable height. The public accessible toilet had all the right facilities so someone in the hotel knows what they are doing but...

Lovely external facade, disappointing interior

Arrived at the hotel, given keycard and directed to where the room was. After navigating a flight of really steep steps to my room, I couldn't find the keycard I'd been given. Retraced my route back to Reception and was issued with replacement. That was the highlight of my stay. The building itself is impressive, but both the exterior and interior of the building has been neglected and in need of time and effort to replace some fittings and given a coat of paint. My bedroom had a giant king size bed which was too big for the room, which meant there was no room for a wardrobe or chest of drawers. There was a regular size desk and chair. The bathroom was basic although there were complimentary bottles of toiletries.
The cost of the room was over £100 which did include breakfast, but I didn't eat this as there was no signage for what time it was served, and I was worried about getting my luggage back down the steep steps to my car.
Given the choice, I wouldn't return to the hotel nor recommend it to anyone else. As it was a last-minute booking, I was grateful to have a comfortable bed to lay my weary limbs.

Unhygenic rooms

Despite the nice scenery of the golf courses and from the initial impression of the hotel and room looking nice and modern, it was in fact fairly tired and the room cleanliness was shocking.
There were numerous crumbs and bits of paper on the carpet, numerous dead spiders and bugs around the windows and in the net curtains and dried urine stains all over the toilet where it was obvious the seat hadnt been lifted to clean.
The food was lovely, with good service in the restaurant, but upon checking in they asked what time i would like to eat and then mistakingly put a completely different time down when i went to the restaurant for my meal.

Hotel in great location for our needs. Part of a golf club so be prepared all you non golfers. Ground would benefit from spa and pool for both non golf visitors and for those whose partners come to play. Room itself was clean and comfortable, shower was a bit old but worked adequately - all in all great place for a stop over.
