Great little find here! Lovely pub with great atmosphere, food fab with onsite restaurant. The room was really well presented and lovely decor. My room was facing south and west on the hottest day of the year, thankfully the staff provided a fan and there was a well stocked fridge in the room too. Breakfast was continental style in the room in a lovely hamper, plus yogurts, milk and orange juice in the fridge. Would go back again when in the area. Thanks team.

Lovely pub, rooms are newly renovated and very clean. I went for a standard double, was cosy but if I was with a partner I’d definitely book a bigger space.

There was a breakfast hamper with a good selection of cereal, granola, pastry and fruit. Pint of milk and water in the fridge.

The staff were lovely and the locals said the food is amazing, I had eaten before arrival but will be going g back for food with family very soon!

I’ll stay again since it’s close to family and was a lovely little place.

The room and corridor were decorated very tastefully. The room was rather small. We were disappointed that breakfast was in the room. It was a good breakfast but there was no room for a table and we had to eat breakfast perched on the bed. Why can’t the baskets be taken downstairs with a small area to make hot drinks so as to enjoy breakfast comfortably or perhaps the baskets could just be left downstairs.

My colleague and I stayed here for a work trip and we loved it! The rooms were clean and comfy - with beautiful views. So handy to have a continental breakfast in our bedroom as we had early starts both days. The food in the pub was delicious with lovely service. The staff were so kind and helpful - special thanks to Sarah and the lovely housekeeper (sorry I didn't catch her name). Great location. Highly recommend!

I just needed a nice, clean room for an impromptu overnight stay. I stayed in room 3 and it was my first booking with this property.

I checked in after 9pm and staff were friendly and welcoming.

The provisions laid out in the room for breakfast were really welcome and well presented.

The bed was comfortable and clean as was the bathroom.

Only negatives were one of the outer panes of glass in the window were smashed, which was a bit concerning. The other was the extractor fan in the bathroom was almost blocked with caked on dust. Nasty!

I enjoyed my stay and would likely stay again even with the slight negatives.

Plenty of parking, the room was clean and the welcome friendly.The downside was the restaurant was closed when arrived so the alternative was to go out again.
We didn't bother, it might have been better to have had some notice of this and we could made other arrangements it didn't spoil matters.

We arrived late at night after leaving a hotel 15 minutes away that turned out to be dreadful. We felt so welcome here - the kindest, most welcoming people, and very cosy, spotless, pretty rooms, with welcome baskets of much-appreciated snacks. Very comfy, quiet and peaceful. Exactly what we needed. We will definitely stay again on our trips to visit family locally.

Great one night stay. The room was lovely and the bed was super comfortable. I also loved the breakfast hamper in the room - the hotel doesn’t do a formal breakfast, however a very good hamper is provided in your room with granola, dried fruit mix, cornflakes, croissants and apples. There’s also tea/coffee, and milk and yogurt in the fridge. I thought this was a great idea and it was all included in the cost of the room. I would definitely stay there again.

Sadly this place needs a fair bit of work doing to it. Stayed in a room on one of the hottest days of the year (not their fault obviously!) but no fan available and also blinds only covered 2/3 of the window so noisy all night then the room was bright from about 4:30am. Did flag this to staff but no-one came to try and fix the blinds or provide a fan. Bathroom was very small and could hardly sit on the toilet due to close proximity to wall opposite. For the price I'd opt for something else next time.

Having stayed at the hotel a number of times, the first noticeable and welcome improvement was in the presentation of the ground floor public rooms. This upgrade is continued in the bedroom (Room 1) which has cleaner lines and is much less cluttered than before.
Good quality bed linen. Bed and pillows very comfortable.
A spare blanket would have been a plus.
Bathroom a little cramped and could do with a waste disposal basket. Delivery of hot water can test one's patience. The basin "plug"needs replacing as it doesn't allow the retention of water and I think the fitting of the hot water tap needs to be checked.
Garden requires attention but I gather that is in hand.
Sadly no cooked breakfast available until new catering arrangements are in place. The breakfast hamper in the room was adequate but not great.

The room was a good size, well decorated and clean. However, it was absolutely boiling and there were no thermostats on the radiators to turn them off, so the only way to cool the room down was to open the windows. The downside of that was that it is on a main road, so we got woken up every hour.

Whilst the bar was really nice and the staff lovely and friendly, we discovered that despite the recent reviews showing a lovely breakfast hamper, that there was no breakfast provided. They are still planning on providing hot food in "a few weeks". As I had an 8am work start, the only place open for breakfast was McDonald's, in the wrong direction so I went to work tired and hunger. Far from worth the £83 I paid. If I'd known there was no breakfast I could at least have made other arrangements.

This property was convenient for my location needs in Wellington.

The bed linen and towels were ok.

However:

The bed was uncomfortable- hard matress

The breakfast hamper was poor quality and value for the daily rate charge of over £100 !

The room was small and not suitable/comfortable for 2 people- if I was not travelling alone.

The shower was a challenge to operate, hot water flow was slow to start and poor pressure

The room was not comfortable or spacious.

It was cramped and certainly NOT worth £200 special offer for 2 nights. I wished they had vacancy at Premeir Inn for the dates of my stay!

I would NEVER stay here again or recommend this place!

There are also friendly local customers that use the bar as their local pub, which was refreshing to see.

The property has been refurbished to a high standard. I understand that a chef was due to start the following week, so no restaurant service, however the owner suggest a pub about 15minutes walk away which was excellent. Breakfast was provided free of charge with a very nice hamper and the fridge contained milk orange juice and yogurts .

This is an exceptionally friendly and welcoming place to stay in for a night end route with well decorated and comfortable rooms. Despite being beside a fairly busy road, it was quiet in the room. Because there was no chef on site, we were given a generous cold breakfast in a small hamper.
We look forward to returning in the future.

The pub looks quite attractive, and the rooms were fine and clean. However, my bed had a plastic undersheet which I had to take off to prevent sweating in during the night.
The food was of budget quality and a bit overpriced. There was a large dog roaming around which growled when I tried to stroke it, so if you are there with children be careful.

Public rooms (bar area and residents' lounge) and car park in need of renovation / tidy-up.
Bedroom nicely decorated but no adequate drawer space and limited hanging space. If the bed was standard double in place of king-size, there might be room to accommodate a small chest of drawers. Bedside lighting poor.
Secondary glazing panels too tightly fixed to move so impossible to deaden noise from passing traffic / at traffic light junction. Two cracked panes in sash window.
Bathroom ok but bath overly generous in size and not easy to get in and out of.
It's an old and lovely house so one has to make allowances.
Food excellent (especially breakfast) with delicious locally-sourced products.
I'd stay again as it's good value for money.

A perfect place to stay for exploring.

The hotel was easy to find with a spacious car park. Checking in was simple.The staff were extremely welcoming and attentive. The room was very neat and tidy with just the right amount of personal touches without going over the top. The choice of beverages was more than adequate. The bed was very comfortable and there was only the occasional bit of road noise, but as we live in a rural area we always tend to notice this.
The bar was welcoming and the local ale had a good flavour. We ate in the restaurant which had a varied menu. The food was well cooked and very tasty. The portion size was good. The wine list was also varied and our choice met all expectations. The breakfast again was tasty and also a good portion. The teapot didn't haven't an annoying drip, more common than you would think, and there was also a choice of continental and cold breakfast choices.
Would we use the hotel again? Definitely yes, it is ideally placed for local attractions which was our reason for choosing the hotel in the first place.

It's in an excellent position to visit local attractions, although on the edge of the town so not in walking distance of any other establishments.

Well worth a re-visit!

Staff were really welcoming and astonishingly attentive. The food was great and the hotel, though old and interesting had been modernised very well. We especially liked the imaginative installation of mirrors in the entrance. The menus for evening meal and dinner were very varied and the range of vegan / vegetarian options was really good. The vegan burger (with vegan cheese) was excellent.

Great breakfast, very comfortable room, and really pet-friendly - staff went above and beyond by acting pro-actively before my arrival to understand the requirements I had with my two dogs; it made for a very enjoyable and relaxing stay.
Beer garden was lovely, off-road parking valued, road a little noisy but only if you have your window open which I did as the weather was hot (quality problem!);
Lovely decor, good WiFi, great TV, sound system etc.
Really good value for money, would thoroughly recommend :)
