Words may not do the AA 3 star Georgian House justice, but when we tell you that the hotel overlooks the River Severn, is bordered by beautiful parkland, has 44 individual ensuite bedrooms, and full conference and banqueting facilities and lies within easy reach of museums and attractions that showcase this world famous area and its industrial heritage, the scene should be well and truly set!

The 2 AA rosette awarded Chez Maw Restaurant offers a full á la carte menu with a selection of modern European cuisine, and offers views of the stunning valley (as does the adjoining bar area) to provide a unique and relaxing experience for all guests. The hotel's location was beautiful due to the backdrop of the trees and hills and on the river Severn. Internally the hotel is very traditional with old features, fixtures and fittings. Single glazed windows led to it being cold in some areas, especially our room and creaking floors. Meals and beers were good and staff very helpful and polite.
We wouldn't stay again but that's not a reflection on the hotel, it is just us wanting to stay in other hotels in different locations. Fully recommend though 😃

Comfy beds rooms are cleaned daily and supplies with coffee tea milk etc. would prefer breakfasts included in price have to pay extra.in good location we l kept gardens.

The staff were amazing, nothing was too much trouble.
The food in the restaurant was very good and worth staying in for.
The hotel garden backs onto a beautiful park and is a three minute walk to cafes and shops (some of these appear to be shut on Tuesdays, but there were enough open to make a trip worthwhile).
If you have accessibility issues make sure you request a downstairs room as there are no lifts.
There is so much to do in the area; a long weekend is very quickly filled with museums, walks, shopping, cafes, an old abbey (two miles away) and slightly further (six miles), golf.

Stunning place to stay

Beautiful Georgian house with stunning grounds in an outstanding location.only stayed 2 nights wish we could of stayed longer. The breakfast was lovely best full English we have had in a long time. We will be returning again the hotel is amazing and the staff are so helpful and friendly.

Very friend staff. Lovely location.

Checked into room but it soon proved to be in a noisy location with an entry door being banged shut by other guests. Needed a soft closure fitted. I was moved to another room which was lovely and seemed to have been refurbished. Bed was a bit soft but that’s personal preference.

Food and service in the restaurant was excellent.

All benefits of convenience were there. I have stayed at the Valley Hotel before, and it has clearly maintained its quality. One minor issue though, in cold and wet weather, the sloping car park needed care to negotiate, as ice was a hazard. However, I am not aware of any accidents or falls.

Upon arrival there was no receptionist to greet us and another guest went to retrieve someone from the staff party who wasn’t officially working. We therefore weren’t given our vouchers and a full check in.
The hotel was clean enough but freezing, Ourselves and other guests were very cold. We were told it was due to the hotel being closed over Christmas and it needed to warm up. Whilst I understand that, maybe the building should be preheated for the comfort of its guests and staff. It made for freezing showers, cold rooms and cold dining.
The breakfast was very nice and quick service.
There is no extraction in the bathroom leaving puddles of condensation.
Beautiful area and walks around with an antique fair and museum nearby which was an enjoyable couple of hours and free entry.

Staff were very good and helpful. Lady on front desk very pleasant on check in. And the meal in the restaurant was delicious 😋 and the staff in the restaurant very good and helpful with my coeliac diet. Only negative was the wall's were paper thin and we could hear everything from next door. Especially in the bathroom. We did enjoy the stay. Was easy to walk to the bridge from the hotel as well.

Close to Ironbridge and museums. On the edge of a lovely park and the River Severn. An old building with interesting architecture and examples of the famous tiles from the area. I had a single room which was fine but it didn't have a window with fresh air which I didn't like. The mattress needed a topper. The breakfast had a very limited choice.

Unfortunately our first room had an awful odour ((blocked drains). We spoke to staff immediately who were very pleasant but couldn’t help till the next morning as no spare rooms.
The second room was much better standard but over looking airconditioning units which were noisey all night, the window didn’t shut properly so couldn’t shut the noise out.
Very pleasant staff throughout but expensive room for problems we had.

They booked us in a room over the function room that was having a wedding disco till 12pm. They did not say anything about this when we booked the previous weekend or when we checked in. Given the number of rooms in their adjacent building they should have put some of the wedding guests in our room and put non-wedding guests away from the function room. Alas either greed or ineptitude of the hotel management. To not even say about it when we checked in shows how poorly they thought of non-we’d guests.

Nice hotel close to all local attractions

Fab overnight stay during the half term. Only reason i knocked a point off was the lack of natural light but I liked everything else about the hotel. Staff were great, the food really good and easy walk to all local attractions. Would definitely recommend.

A great Hotel in an historic area !

I enjoyed my stay at the hotel . The friendliness of the staff ; the beautiful gardens leading into the municipal park (Deep End Dale ); the delicious food served in the hotel restaurant. My only disappointment was that my room did not have a window I could open or any kind of view at all. I thought, therefore, that the money I paid for my room and breakfast was not really value for money .

The location of this hotel was excellent for exploring the town and area as we were able to walk to everything we planned to visit. The staff were wonderful - always friendly and polite and helpful. An interesting old building, maintained to a reasonable standard but felt due for an update in some areas/respects. Our bed was not great and could do with replacement.

Cold room no heating on when booked in at 3;20 no heating in bathroom ie no towel heating or any heating, cold to take a shower shower tray plug took time for water to drain. Did give us portable heater helped a little. Hotel cold anyway so uninviting. charged for coffee with meal then again as hot Beverage so thought i paid twice. Hotel in lovely position by river walk and into Iron Bridge. Second stay at this Hotel would we stay again ?
Staff lovely breakfast lovely, should we expect every thing to be good in this day and age or should you just take it as it comes?

Really disappointed that there was extensive noise above my bedroom at 4:30 am. Apparently workmen had returned to their room Hence no sleep after I was awoken. No refund offered for the room, except my evening meal. I’d rather have paid for my meal and had a proper nights sleep. Best Western you should know better!

Croydon holidaymakers enjoy best Ironbridge hotel

Stayed at Ironbridge Valley Hotel 17/9/23 to 23/9/23. We’ve been to many hotels together over the last 8 years and have never been more pleased, the staff were amazing and the food terrific so we dined in the on-site restaurant every evening. We were very impressed with the efficiency and professionalism of the restaurant staff with a special mention to the young members who were superb. We seem to to read nothing but negative news about our 16 to 18 year olds in U K but the young staff were particularly good, they were all helpful, polite, good humoured and efficient, an absolute credit to Valley Hotel. That’s not to say the slightly older members of staff were not wonderful, they were ! We cannot recommend this hotel more highly,11 out of 10. Many Thanks from 4 happy visitors

The hotel is a great base for visiting this part of Shropshire and just a 5 minute walk to THE Ironbridge and the shops. Ample parking. Lovely gardens. Friendly staff. It is old - hence the gorgeous tiles on the ground floor but rooms are rather small and dark as a result. That having been said , we would almost certainly stay there again if we return.

The staff very helpful. Restaurant very good. The shower needed replacing, they had not replaced the leaking shower head but did when we requsted it. The bath was very deep to step into . Realistically the bathroom needs re vampng. The electric shower unit barely worked. There was very little tea and coffee left n the room although when asked thet supplied more. There were no mint teas or earl grey. A small fridge for the room would be an advantage. Thank you for fan and comfortable beds.

Avoid unless you love a Brexit simulator

The hotel was a bit dated, the room the size of my suitcase with a lovely view of the kitchen fans (witch were very noicy). Luckily was there only for one night and had noise cancelling head phones, so blasting music at loud volume almost managed to drown out the buildings noises. Worst was the complete lack of WIFI which was annoying for business visitor at an area which as notoriously bad phone signal to boot. Service did disappoint as could not have breakfast between 0745 and 0845 as too full.. and dinner was unavailable too for hotel guests, but luckily booked the table online (at hotel restaurant) and managed to get in that way. Definitely not staying there again.

Disappointing Stay

1. Food in restaurant was over priced.
2. The surfaces in the bedroom were sticky.
3. Room 33. Window was small and couldnt be opened fully so the room became stuffy and hot. You could hear adjoining residents who were very noisy due to thin walls.
4. You couldnt stand under the shower because of the sloping roof. Ridiculous!
5. No pictures of this room are shown online. Ive checked. I would not have booked this hotel if I had seen this room.

Well positioned for walking to the Ironbridge. Attractive grounds. Helpful, attentive staff.

Bathroom sadly lacking, fixed head shower over bath with no handset. Toiletries of poor quality, no shampoo or conditioner and tiny handbasin soap. Although happy to re-use towels, there is no way to dry them so the next day they were still very damp. Not pleasant!

We had room 15 that was very worn,shower had mould and cracked tiles and the extractor made a terrible noise. It was also very small and dark due to a small window.

it was very enjoyable because we were able to meet up with friends we had not met with for some time or at all since they had grown to adults, some obtained University Degrees or retired from work, except the one whose Wake it was in memory of: Betty, whose favourite Hotel it had been.This was after a most exceptional Funeral Service at Perton Church, and then later Committal Service at Telford Crematorium. The Hotel food and service was exceptional. The one small blemish was that the electrical shower would not work properly and provide even warm water consistently and made us late for the Breakfast in good time to enjoy the final meal time together.

Our room 28 was dated (decor) and lacked sound insulation from the rooms above and the stairs outside our room.

Our rooms were clean and comfortable but a little dark due to the very small windows. Our room had everything we could need. The bar area was inviting and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good, plenty of options. Easy to park, plenty of space and access to the lovely gardens provided an enjoyable walk. Very close to the centre of Ironbridge but no noise pollution. If we were in the area we would stay again.

We booked 2 rooms and were located in the old servants quarters. The rooms were dated and small. There seemed to be a water tank above one of the rooms that was always running and the other room was very dark and cold with a very thin duvet.
Overall we were disappointed with the standard of the hotel but the breakfast was quite nice.
