Booked a double room, but hotel cocked up and gave us a double. When I went down to complain they said they had no other twins left so would ring around the other hotels, which at 11.30pm was not what we wanted, so - as was with my 17 year old son rather than a work colleague - we stuck with double room. Not ideal at all - a little uncomfortable - but little choice. Person on night shift said to complain to manager in the morning. Manager in the morning said to complain to Expedia - even though they admitted it was their error (as showed evidence that a twin had been booked).
Even room we did have had a light bulb missing in one of the main lights, and housekeeping came banging on door at 9.30am in the morning asking if we wanted servicing - which was ridiculous - surely they have a better system for sorting which rooms to clean than going room to room waking everyone up!
Reception in the evening was also very slow - as they seemed to have the same person serving behind the bar, serving on reception and doing whatever else needed doing - not good service at all (noting that not because staff had bad attitude - they were generally ok, but just that the whole operation was understaffed / poorly managed). Not sure how to formally complain, so would appreciate a response from Expedia, otherwise will try another route.

Nice hotel lobby, welcoming staff. We didn’t use any facilities but there’s a few sitting areas, pool tables, screen with sports on at the time. All good.

The room was pleasant with all the usual amenities. The bathroom was in a good state of repair but not faultless with some mouldy silicone and grout (is that the norm nowadays?)

The biggest issue was the noise of other doors slamming as people carelessly let them shut, regularly from 21:00-23:00 and regularly again from 7:00-8:00 onwards. It was an issue for us, but might not be for you!

The staff were very welcoming & friendly. The lady at reception saved me a trip to Aldi when I realised I had forgotten my toothbrush by given me a complimentary one. The only downside was the lift was out of order and my room was on the top floor. Luckily, I only had a small suitcase to carry up the 49 winding steps.

Pool tables & darts available but cramped area meaning many locatiobs impeded the cues by walls. Pool area wasnt that large & water murky.

Room was satisfactory but a little over furnished. Shower control defective, no maintenance staff available over weekend to rectify it, although we were offered an alternative room.
The dinner service in the restaurant was a complete and utter shambles. 45 minutes wait for a table due to \"An unexpected rush\", poor and disorganised service and when the waitress brought the wrong order and had it pointed out to her, she had the temerity to argue.
At breakfast, which had to be ordered at reception the night before, so an unexpected rush could not happen, they ran short of cups, glasses and spoons.
Tables, cruets and menus were all sticky.
Confused, disorganised, poorly trained and short staffed, it is difficult for for a moderate man using temperate language adequately to criticise them.

Easy access to Telford International Centre.
Odd layout having to go through the gym to get to rooms.
Strong smell of urine in the swimming pool.
Food in the restaurant was ok, steak sandwich was good but sticky toffee was dry and bland. Within walking distance to multiple other restaurants so not limited to hotel.
Would probably use again if attending conferences at international centre.

I booked this hotel for the spa facilities but I didn’t use them as it wasn’t a relaxing and particularly clean area. The changing rooms were a state with wet towels all over the floor and the general areas were tired and worn out. The corridors throughout the hotel had worn and stained carpets and the whole place just felt a bit grotty. We were staying there for a sporting event at the International Centre so didn’t spend much time in the hotel so it was fine as the room was clean and the breakfast good, but it needs some work to update the public areas. The staff were lovely and very friendly though

Managed to use the gym, pool and steam room whilst staying at the hotel. When staying in Telford again i will make sure i book again at the Mercure. Very close to shops, restaurants and even a cinema across the road!

The photos attached are from room 501 that we were given on 4-7-2025 As you can see the bathroom was extremely dirty & the extractor fan was not working. The safe was also not working which we reported but were told there was no maintenance team on site to re set it so we had to take our valuables around with us each day. Also one of the lamps didn’t work which again we reported but nothing was done about it. We went for a swim in the pool where I found the ladies changing rooms to be in a dreadfully dirty state with slimy, filthy floors, rusty & broken locks on the lockers which were also very dirty inside. Peeling paint & black mould around the edges of the floors. The water in the jacuzzi was way too hot & was overflowing with deep foam so was too uncomfortable to use. All of this was reported to deputy manager & manager with photos as proof. My dinner that evening was inedible. The batter on the fish was very under cooked and the fish inside was horrible so they gave me another fish & chips which was the same standard so I went without a meal. The waitress gave us a bottle of water to compensate. We told the receptionist & she refunded our money. We were given another ‘superior’ room which was a little cleaner with a working safe. We asked for a refund on our stay but were told that because we had booked through ‘Hotels.Com’ we had to go through them to get our money back. We hope that this can now be arranged.

Only one thing which I was unimpressed with the whirlpool I used as it wasn’t powerful blower and no bubbles. I enjoyed the heated pool. I stayed there four nights. The breakfast service are great. One of staffs know that I liked two poached eggs on toast. Before I asked for it, she quick reply ‘ you want two poached eggs?’. It made me smile

The hotel is not worth the money. It is very tired and need some TLC. There was rubbish in the plant pots. The carpet is thread there. The shower was broken. The shaving mirror was hanging off the wall. The bottom of the shower door was waterlogged and all the paint was peeling off the staff for the swimming pool, sat about on their mobile phones and ignored customers. The swimming pool ceiling is massively stained. All the lockers were dirty and the locking facilities wobbled. I will not stay in this hotel again. It is not worth the money.

Reception arrival was pleasant, my room was great: large double bed, good size bathroom, TV and heating. Had a fabulous hair dryer which most hotels don't provide, normally they haven't got enough power and then takes ages to dry your hair.

Breakfast was wonderful, from full English to continental breakfast. The staff during breakfast service were amazing, very friendly and always topping up the breakfast stands.

They have a fabulous swimming pool and gym to add.

I would highly recommend to anyone who would like a comfortable stay. And it's also only a short walk from the station too.

Had quite a pleasant stay up to the point that I was woken at around 8 am to the sound of drilling, banging, then at around 9am a lady knocked on my door and asked if I was checking out ! I told her that I had until noon and then mentioned the noise that I had been woken up to , she just shrugged her shoulders and said they are fixing doors ! So decided to check out on arrival at check out desk the lady just asked for room number and didn’t even ask if my stay had been ok, if she had have done I would have told her about my experience,I feel really sad that I wasn’t told that there would be noise disruption and I certainly didn’t expect a knock on my door to ask if I was checking out, very disappointing.

Depends on the price . Whatever you get quoted add £10 for car parking charges.
Otherwise other basic hotels offer overnight parking for £1.60 at Southwater.
This was a weekend stay and was a great location. Walkable to train station and shopping centre and huge car park. The onsite pool and steam room and sauna are a great bonus for the morning after a great night out.

I ordered an accessible room, when checking in I was informed that all accessible room came with a bath which in the end makes the room \"non accessible\" I was then given a normsl room with no hold bars and no emergency bottons, also the room did not have a phone, so impssible to call for help. This hotel should not sell its self a accessible hotel if the rooms are not.

The walls in the hotel rooms are the poorest i have stayed in. Our room unfortunately was an joining room. The walls are that thin you can hear everything below you and at the side of you. Even if someone is in the shower. Was woken every morning at 6am from other neighbours rooms.£178 i was really shocked and disappointed. Staff in the mornings cleaning were also really loud not very considerate to people sleeping still.

Unfortunately receptionist on check-in appeared uninterested and lacking interest in what they were doing. This contrasted markedly with a mid evening experience and upon check out (although the receptionist was on a call - they happily indicated for us to leave our key). Staff in restaurant were appropriately attentive and happy to advise on choices. Pool facilities are ok however the area feels tired and could do with an update, whilst changing rooms are clean, the lack of locking lockers is disappointing (you need to provide your own padlocks). Bedroom- comfortable, bathroom ok

Had a lovely stay, staff were great, first room, tv wasnt working but staff quickly resolved that by changing rooms, stayed in room 102 with being right by the stairs you can hear the door always slaming, but other than that no complaints, we didnt eat at the resturant, we ordered takeaway to hotel with no issues, asked staff for forks they quickly sorted them we have stayed here a few times never usually have any issues, parking is a bit expensive for only 1 night £10 but same price if ur staying more nights

Everyone we encountered was polite, helpful and a credit to the hotel. Breakfast was superb and kept very well stocked, the bar food was also great. Carpet was not hoovered prior to our arrival. We stood on small items that previous patrons had dropped.

Heating wasn't working in the room, it was very cold. Took over an hour for them to locate a heater for the room; we had to visit reception 3 times to resolve this. There was only 1 robe provided in the room for the spa and by this point, I just did not want another trip to reception to ask for anything more.

Restaurant seating by the window for evening meals and that was also very cold.
My chicken burger was pink but they seemed short staffed so I didn’t bother saying anything. Vegetable soup and Fish & Chips were nice.

Breakfast staff were lovely and this food was much better. Good choices.

In general, the hotel comes across as trying to look high end but isn't actually maintaining the property well enough.

In summary. Overpriced. Breakfast great. Hotel room not the cleanest. Service too slow.

Lovely hotel, they upgraded my room and it was really clean and comfy - no issues there. However they charged me for parking but there were no spaces. And the entry from the car park with luggage is a bit of a pain. They also didn't actually check me in when I checked in, which caused issues when I got back that evening. Really regretted booking this hotel. I travel weekly for business and chose this one for its 24 hour check in because I knew that I would be arriving late and I paid extra for free cancellation. I arrived at 11pm after a very long drive and checked in to my room to find that there was no hot water in the bathroom. On reporting this to Reception, there had apparently been issues with the hot water all day, they had not mentioned this to me while I was checking in, and my only option for a warm shower was the pool showers which were now closed for the night. I do feel like this is a significant issue, and had I been informed of this, I would have cancelled my booking and gone to the hotel across the carpark instead. The next morning, the hot water was still not fixed, and I suspect the issue had been significant and going on for a while. While I appreciate that things do sometimes malfunction, the lack of transparency or communication concerning this issue before or after I arrived was very misleading, and having spent £142 for a 8 hour stay in a hotel where my journey times meant that I had no options for anything other than a cold shower was ridiculous. Not even a refund of any kind on the price paid!

The windows were old and let in some cold, but the heating was on all the time so didn't notice unless near the window. The heating was noisy and the bathroom although clear had mould on the grout. Of note also is there was no hot Wtaer by the time we showered about 11am. The swimming pool, etc were lovely, a little small but it was quiet. The changing areas weren't good at all though, cold, dirty, old and broken locker doors.

Had an excellent stay. The staff were friendly and helpful. Room service was quick and convenient. The room was cleaned and the bed made whilst we were out. Overall a good hotel. The only thing which was slightly inconvenient is the parking charge which was not very well advertised prior to arrival. It would be good if that charge was built into the room cost for at least 1 vehicle as based on location - it is unlikely many guests would not be parking there.

Dog friendly heaven

Had the best stay, super dog friendly, great location, friendly staff, lovely gym and spa facilities! Would definitely come back!

Thanks to the staff for letting me sit in the bar with my dog for the breakfast buffet :)

Room was dirty and floor covered in blood spots, pillows covered with blood marks. F&B manager Dean confirmed and was horrified, gave me a drinks voucher and changed my room. No one picked up phone at reception so had to go down 3 times as room was so bad

In the main the hotel and staff were great. Our only issue was (what appeared to be?) poor sound insulation to the room, so when other guests were off to bed after midnight, voices in the corridor and banging of bedroom doors sounded as if our room door was wide open (which of course it wasn’t!)

The stay was good but I did not like the illuminated bed headboard and the absence of a hook to hang coats etc.
