We will probably not re book this property. The building and location are great and walking distance easily to grab streetcar- that part was awesome. We were never greeted at anytime entering or leaving building. —staff acted like they didn’t want to be there. Thank yous were said but only at check out. The place was not busy- but getting ready for FIFA crowds. No one we asked- valet and front desk could tell us where the streetcar station was…? It’s literally around the corner. We didn’t get housekeeping as she came at 4ish and we had just returned for the day to get ready for dinner plans. . She was dismissive and didn’t offer any towels or anything. We just stated that we had just returned. Floor/ carpet was wet in areas at check in. Everything else was clean and nice. Requested a fan a couple of times. We did receive it- but front desk seemed annoyed for the request. I love KC and we were on a staycation. I was disappointed that this would be the energy for all the excitement about to happen around town. We had a great time- but the staff definitely were not interested in our stay:(.

First off. I never take the time for reviews. But for my fellow travelers, this time, I will make an exception.
Front desk staff extremely rude. Rooms dirty dust everywhere and you can tell that the place is not well kept. No basics like refrigerator or microwave. Had to request a microwave be sent to my room again. Staff very annoyed.
Tried to bring up some issues to the management and they said “will pass that on to the appropriate department”. I think we know what that means.
Zero air conditioning in hallways or elevators.

Will say the men and women outside of the hotel running the valet service were spot on. They were fast they were friendly, and they were on it! Kudos to you guys.

Room was clean and icy cold upon arrival. No fridge =( but it was just a short one night stay so not the biggest deal. We had some fun drinks at the speakeasy after our concert.
Amazing bed and shower. Easy walk to power and lights district. Would stay again if in the area.

Room was pretty clean. Some misc hair in the bathroom, can tell the corners dont get much attention. Bed was OK. Pillows.... trash! Hard as rocks i had to go buy a pillow so I could sleep. Staff was nice for the minimal interaction I had. Hotel is close to lots of things to do and places to eat. Lots of free activities within walking distance. Super neat old cozy vibes inside the hotel. Would definitely stay again for the price.

Check-in was at 4. Couldn't get in until after 4. Was told I needed to wait. As I waited other people walked in and got checked in right away. Went back up and asked then was checked in. Sink in room 1601 isn't draining very fast. Tv kept going off the channel and had to reset several times. Staff sent maintenance up but we were wanting to nap so we just felt with it. Also, you have to stand in front of the water to turn the shower on? Didn't think it was as nice as it has been in the past.

The hotel is conveniently located and has a more unique theme (art deco-esque). The room itself was fairly standard - quiet but kind of sloppy (paint job was meh but that didn’t impact our overall stay). The biggest thing that stood out was that there was a very dirty spot on the bathroom wall.

The shower door was unusable for my wife. I had to muscle the door open and shut. When we left the employee at the front desk said they knew it was that way. I told him they should get it fixed before someone else gets that room.

Good experience overall, and very easy to send them with my car. Overall found the place a little grungy for the price like there was a stain on the carpet and something on the wall that looked spilled. Not disgusting just not spotless I would say. The coffee was never there in the morning it felt like and that was a little annoying. However overall good experience, felt safe and comfortable so good experience overall.

Horrible!Horrible! DO NOT STAY HERE!. There was literally no parking so had to pay $50 a night for valet parking. No fridge in the rooms! Ice machine was broken on the floor! There was no continental breakfast offered. I paid for what I thought was breakfast meals for my stay. Breakfast is available in the restaurant and although they advertise a buffet there was none! Had to order breakfast from the restaurant and it was changed to my room so what did I pay for when I booked the room? Avoid this place like the plague!!!!

At check in the gentleman with longer hair barely even looked up at us. Once in our room we discovered yellow crusty stuff on our bed. We let the front desk know and said that we would be out for a while and would like it to be addressed before we got back. Over 4 hours later when we returned it was still there. We went back to the front desk and spoke with the same gentleman with a beard and glasses that we had brought the problem to earlier. He told us housekeeping was gone for the day now and he would try to get the porter up to address it. We gave them one hour and no one ever came. We couldn't even use our expensive room because the same stuff was also on the bench. Went back down again, this time more frustrated and they tried to move us to a queen room on a lower floor. When we were coming from a king room in the corner. We checked that room and it was in poor shape so they put us in another queen room on the 11th floor. This room was clean with a little more space.
The shower the next morning was like a warm trickle, i could barely wash my hair.
We tried to stop in the Italian restaurant for a drink later that evening and it seemed as if the bartender didn't want us there. Then without notice of last call or any communication she through our bill in front of us and our friends who were there with us. The service at breakfast was a little better but didn't have the first two things I tried to order from the menu. Overall poor experience. Stay at the much nicer hotels

second time at this stay. my first time was amazing! thank goodness it was for my birthday and not during this time for an event. The service was not so great. I requested for things and didn’t receive them until the night before I left and they made me go to the lobby to get items. I never had to do that unless it was a cheaper hotel:/

I was given an \"upgrade\" from a two-queen room to a king suite with a king bed and a fold-out bed. I was told blankets and pillows would be delivered so the fold-out would be usable, which, by the way, would require moving furniture to do so. I followed up on blankets/pillows three times, and finally, at midnight, I gave up. The \"upgrade\" was a lie, and I ended up paying over $400 for a space that was, for all intents and purposes, unusable. Add to that the fact that the entire lobby looked like it had been hit by a tornado, and the extremely rude staff. I will definitely not book there again, which is unfortunate because the location is ideal.

The check-in was terrible. I received two cards. Neither would open the door. Returning to the registration desk, I was told it would take five minutes to get some help. Then I was told to go to the room. A technician was able to open the door. He said he would recharge the battery.

Later, I went to have dinner at Tavernonna [which was terrific]. I returned to my room. Again, neither card would open the door. So I returned again to the registration desk. They told me to return to my room. A different technician was able to get one key to work. He said he would recharge the battery.

What a frustrating experience.

When I got there my air wasn’t working. But I was able to easily get ahold of the staff. They sent maintenance up and he took care of it asap for me. It worked perfectly the rest of my stay. Thank you for that. Also my room had a beautiful view of downtown!

While the lobby and shared spaces had such a great atmosphere (especially the basement speakeasy) the rooms themselves were a bit underwhelming. We knew going in that the hotel was older, and we didn’t mind the quirky layout, which honestly added some charm. Everything was clean, but it was a little noisy, the bed wasn’t the most comfortable, and the room felt pretty basic overall.

The bathroom was clean but very cold, and the shower with the partial glass partition, never really warmed up, which made it hard to fully relax.

Overall, it was fine for a one-night stay, but not somewhere we’d rush back to. Would we recommend it? Eh… it’s okay. We’ll probably try a different hotel next time.

Let’s start with the good. We were within walking distance to the Power and Light. The check-in was easy. The bad: small room, well small everything, thermostat was broken, and the bed was awful. It served our purpose of walking distance to the event we were having.

One thing they don’t tell you is there’s no self parking at the hotel, valet only. There’s a $48/per day charge for parking. But you can remove your vehicle as many times as you want included in that price. There’s a speakeasy in the basement, but reservations are highly recommended. They were turning people around at the door. Will stay again.

The price for the room was way to high, given how outdated it was. The bathroom was not clean with bits of hair on the floor from previous guest. Was not just 1 hair, there was a ton of hair in the area where the shower was.

I also booked the hotel as it was my 1st wedding anniversary and wanted something special, if you want something like this don't stay here. Nothing even from the hotel in terms of celebration. Ive stayed at alot of hotels over.thr years where hotels would leave a card, chocolates or maybe a bottle of champagne, well not this place.

Would not recommend to anyone.

Not even 5 minutes after we arrived to our room after checking in, maintenance burst in unannounced thinking the room was empty. After we received a call offering to compensate a breakfast or dinner meal for our troubles, which was appreciated. The next day we ate dinner and got a bottle of wine, which was warm, and the steak lacked flavor, however no complaints since it was free right?? Wrong. After double checking at check out that the bill was covered we were assured it was. Later in the day we were charged for it. After some back and forth they ended up refunding the charge. However this is very disappointing considering the amount of money we spent!
