This was our second time staying here and it never disappoints!! We love the Green Gables! The location is amazing, the views are spectacular, the staff is super friendly, the breakfast and afternoon wine and cheese are absolutely delicious and the room was extremely clean and beautifully decorated!!

We enjoyed and appreciated the historical and professional decor of the venerable building. During the evening, there was vacuuming/thumping upstairs (adjacent building) that was distracting. We also would have appreciate some non-gluten options in an otherwise delicious breakfast spread.

This is the second time my wife and I have stayed here and it was just as enjoyable as the first time. The location is outstanding. Our room in the cottage was very spacious and the bed was very comfortable. Having a separate tub and shower and double sinks makes getting ready to go out so much easier. We would definitely stay again.

The Green Gables is a wonderful property with amazing views. Lots of shops, restaurants and stores within walking distance. Don’t expect chain stores! Pacific Grove is a charming town for peace and quiet. Except maybe for the early morning gulls!

Everything was great. Since we could not be there for the happy hour (nice treat) they left us cheese, crackers, cookies and wine in the room. Breakfast was really good. I wish we could have stayed longer than one night. We had the Jennifer room, I never slept better, the bed was exceptional. Overall loved the decor. Only one suggestion, have a way to make hot water for tea in the room.

A beautiful place and a hotel to match! This could not be better sited. The publicly accessible coast, with a walking/biking path alongside, is across the street; and the Monterey Bay aquarium (which really is everything it’s cracked up to be) and great dinner options are a short and pleasant walk of no more than 10 minutes. We had one of the smaller rooms - pleasantly large! - and it was gorgeous. Outstanding breakfast and much-appreciated wine & cheese.

My wife and I were overwhelmed by the beauty of the location and the charm of the Green Gables Inn. The main house is an exquisite Queen Anne gem full of period pieces and a spectacular view. Breakfast and mid-afternoon wine was served there. We stayed in the back house of rooms and were thrilled with the modern touches that did not diminish the charm. A very well kept B&B.

The Inn is BEAUTIFUL and right on the coast with MARVELOUS views! There are cookies upon arrival, wine and munchies for happy hour AND a delicious fresh breakfast in the morning. The staff are welcoming, kind, and very accommodating. Our room was beautiful, very large, with a beautiful view of the coast and a fireplace! Also refrigerator and coffee maker.

Highly recommended, needs a little TLC.

The hotel was beautiful and clean with excellent amenities. The sevice was friendly and accommodating. My only complaint (and i am nit picking) was the room we stayed in could have used a little touch up paint and the grout of the tile i. High traffic areas was stained and needs some care. I also personally can not stand the double sheet duvet cover method. It always comes off in the night and you get an unwashed duvet in your face.

Great location, beautiful main building. Otherwise it was just OK. I stayed in the carriage house, upper floor. The solar lights on the stairs didn't work one day and minimally the next. Given its December and was raining, lighted stairs were absolutely needed.

I've stayed at a couple of their other locations. The breakfast didn't meet the standard. It was about equal to what you'd get at holiday inn express. Cookies were mid-ish quality.

Least impressive was that i don't drink coffee. There was a kuerig (not eco-friendly with single use pots) and couldn't brew hot water for tea. I guessed, and learned this to be true, that you are expected to use hot water from the tap. Yeah, No. This wasn't worth the $400/night.

That said, the spa tub and fireplace were lovely.

The room did have a small ocean view and a lovely window seat. The bathroom was spacious and beautifully tiled. The bed was surprisingly comfortable if only full size (not king or queen). Unfortunately, the fireplace was non-operational but otherwise the room was fine.

This property is right across the street from one of the most beautiful walking paths on the west coast of the U.S. Sealife is abundant (seals/otters) and the water pristinely clear.

A unique (if pricy) property.

Just What We Needed

We arrived at the Green Gables after a stressful evacuation from Yosemite due to fires. We were greeted with wine and cheese and fresh baked cookies! Our room was clean and comfortable and the view was amazing. Breakfast each morning was better than the last and we enjoyed the bicycles we borrowed from the Inn. The location right on the water was amazing-we could walk to the Aquarium and lots of shops and restaurants. This was one of the nicest Inns I have ever stayed at. 10/10

This was a beautifully appointed B&B in the best location in Monterey. So close to Cannery Row, the aquarium and so many restaurants. The breakfasts were absolutely delicious and happy hour provided wine and snacks at no charge. It was a very nice surprise. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. The management was flexible with our check out when we had to depart early and we were so thankful.

We've stayed at the Green Gables before 2020. It was well-run with good breakfasts, cookies, and wine in the PM. It was an old Victorian house, that was filled with beautiful period furniture and wall coverings. Today, it is still well-run, but the inherent beauty of the old Victorian is gone. Much of the old furniture was removed. Worse, the beautiful old wallpapers have been replaced with sterile, \"neutral\" colored, virutually white wallpaper with no pattern or too-subtle patterns. Soon all lamps and lights will be replaced with more modern items, removing the last remnants of the old period appearance. The thrill is gone.

We enjoyed 2 nights in the Sandpiper room in a comfy bed and fireplace. While we couldn't get the TV to work nor the outlet by the sink for the hair dryer, these were minor as we simply streamed on our PC with wifi, and there was another plug in the bathroom. Nice happy hour wine & cheese, and a satisfying breakfast.

Very nice house from 1888. We had the Gable room which has an ocean view. It was very quiet, you could just hear the ocean. The room is smaller but big enough for two. There is no TV but the WiFi works well for watching movies on your own laptop or tablet. Cheese platter in the afternoon was nice and the breakfast was good. Service was excellent.

We loved the Carriage House suite, but this time we got Jennifer's Room, which was still lovely but not as private. The mattress on the bed was not superior.
The wine and cheese snack was tasty, and the breakfast was fresh made and yummy. We enjoyed a whole carafe of fresh coffee early by request, which was a plus. We will definitely stay here again, but will request the Carriage House.

Incomparable location. Our first morning we crossed the street to sit on a bench on the bluff above the shore, and 5 minutes later two whales suddenly surfaced right in front of us. Our room was warm, sunny, comfortable. The bathroom looked newly remodeled and was sparkly clean, but perfectly in character with such a historical house. It had a tub with jacuzzi jets plus a shower. walking distance to Cannery Row while feeling like you were in a village far from civilization. We loved it. A bit out of our normal affordability, but we will save up enough to return again because of the pleasure of the experience. Amy and Ivy at the front desk were warm and friendly and fun and deserve high marks.

Everything was almost perfect and although Covid limited our enjoyment of Green Gables we enjoyed our stay. We still don’t know why bikes weren’t available because they were renting them down the road. We missed having our room refreshed and sitting inside the dining room and living area, but our breakfasts were delicious! The cheese and wine box was a nice touch.

On our recent short stay at the Green Gables Inn, we were impressed by the warm welcoming staff. Amy, especially, treated us as valued guests. The room was top notch as to cleanliness and comfort. Breakfast was excellent (although I do hope the buffet is back when we return). I know that with Covid and all the restrictions that entails that the staff has a much harder job running the inn, they have met the challenge very well.

Check in wax nice and personalised. Reception told us about breakfast and even allowed us to change rooms. We switched from a room they had a fireplace and tv to one in the main building, no tv, fireplace and with a shared bathroom, BUT the room was amazing with the best views of the ocean and it was decorated in the old antique style that made this place so charming.

Honestly, I usually don’t stay in bed and breakfasts. I’ve stayed in my fair share, throughout New England and Colorado and the south..... but lately I’ve been staying in big hotels in the middle of bustling cities. I have to say that this was the cutest, most serene, beautiful, charming place I’ve ever stayed. Right across from the ocean, I had the most comfortable night in the most comfortable bed. Seriously, it was heaven. My room was complete with fireplace, hot tub, and a brow of a family of deer hanging out right outside my window. The staff is beyond friendly and treated us all like family. I had breakfast in the sun room, looking out the window to the water crashing on the rocks. I mean, could you ask for anything better?
