Beach view is fab. Nice bedroom, great bathrooms great balcony. But it’s incredibly noisy; from early in the morning until around 1am every night. It feels like there’s no sound proofing and you hear everything below you and beyond your room door. Definitely not suitable for light sleepers!

The problem we had was on arrival at the Hotel Steyne finding out where to go to check-in. I asked one staff member that directed us to the wrong spot. I then asked a second staff member that directed us to the same incorrect spot. It was the third staff member that directed us correctly. That was the only problem we had except for the loud music that kept me up until it finished at 3am. Apart from that we thought our room & venue was great. I'll give a 3 star rating on the next screen for the ones that gave us the wrong directions. All the other staff were great.

Checked in arrived at the room no Aircon. Asked about it down at reception there answer may tomorrow next day still not working the room was a sweat box . 3rd day went to leave the hotel as had no sleep this was also as we had just come of a 30hr flight. Luck would have it they moved us on 3rd day to room with air-conditioning.happy days you would think. No no no. Got to bed that afternoon now 3days no sleep 😴 fire alarm went off evaluate evacuate the before alarm are shouting .False alarm .no explanation. Back to bed we got 2 or 3 hours sleep . Evacuation again about 1 am then about 2 .not one member of staff explanation

Anyway next morning work men outside rooms trying to fix oh forgot to say jack hammering concrete floors in the hotel every morning .
The music in the hotel down stairs on a Friday and Saturday night will not only keep you awake it rocks the building. But I can not complain about the music as I had read reviews.b4 I arrived. My wife emailed the manager as the receptionist advised . Not received a reply. That's why posting this review.if he had decency to get back to us I wouldn't have not wrote this.

No AC room had no window. Fan supplied sounded like a hovercraft all night. Emergency evacuation went off at 1am and again at 2.30am both false alarm’s. Apparently it wasn’t the first time this had happened. The room was unsuitable to sleep in because of the heat. We checked out 2 days early as we couldn’t stand it anymore. I wouldn’t let a dog sleep in the room. To top it off we had to share with a cockroach we couldn’t catch! I hope Expedia have our back on this one. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all.

Overall a decent stay, and good value for money, however there's no overlooking that 2 out of my 4 nights sleep were disturbed by having to evacuate due to faulty electrics setting the fire alarm off.

No AC or other ventilation in out room. We were woken up by drilling on our wall at 6:50am. Had to find another hotel after the first night as the AC was not fixed and no alternative rooms available. Requested a refund as the room was not habitable and the staff knew the AC was broken but the hotel has not provided this or responded to enquiries.

whilst the room was small it was still big enough for two people.
The shower was a great size with a very large rain shower head.
we loved being right in the middle of everything. we noticed that there are bigger rooms so will look for those next time. this hotel is such value for money.

Genuinely one of the worst accommodation experiences of my life. I know that staying above a pub would mean living with some noise in the evening, but I didnt expect the bass-bin of a nightclub sound system to be thumping against the wall of our suite all night until like 4am. Complimentary earplugs do nothing to help you sleep when you can literally FEEL the music from the rooftop bar vibrating you in your bed.

Also even after being moved from a room which had failing air-conditioning, the temperature of the new room was still uncomfortably warm for the middle of summer for a room with opening windows, no fresh air or natural sunlight.

Also, the complimentary breakfast isnt worth much when literally every table in the dining area had been reserved off for participants of a fun run that was happening outside. I dont care how free the breakfast is, I am not going to join a line 15+ deep to place an order and still have nowhere to sit and eat it.

And the final insult, the $100 deposit hold they placed on our credit card which they said would drop off within 24 hours of our departure, six days later has still not dropped off.

To say that we will not be back is an understatement. I’m genuinely baffled that anyone would ever return after enduring a night at The Steyne.

Super loud party hotel. Our room was on the first floor between a LOUD disco on top and a LOUD pub with a DJ on the bottom floor (btw, no soundproofing in this historic hotel). Might be okay to stay here if one is hanging out in the disco until early morning, but it's miserable trying to sleep in the 'hotel' rooms. Plus, ongoing construction cut electricity to our room (\"workers left early on a Friday, can't be fixed until Monday\"). On the plus side, room rates here are the lowest in Manly Beach and we loved our view.

Very noisy at night due to the loud music in the bar area on the first night until 03.00 then on the second night until midnight. We were moved to a quieter room for the second and third night.
We were woken early, just after 0700 on our third morning by the fire alarm. This turned out to be a false alarm but we only found this out by going into the breakfast area. No sign of the manager of staff in the bedrooms area.

Renovations taking place which makes evaluation a bit unfair but room servicing was average. The waste bin contained someone else’s food waste when we arrived. A bit yucky!

Right opposite Manly beach, a tradtional 2 storey hotel. Rooms are quite small but clean and well furnished. There are several bars that serve until late including a rooftop one with great views over the beach. Breakfast is a single choice off a set menu but it was great quality. Unlimited tea and coffee was available.

Awful experience. No notice of ongoing construction works at the hotel were received before booking or prior to arrival. Awoken at 07.15a.m every morning by construction noise. Drilling, breaking, chatter from workers everyday. Midway through the week works progressed to directly opposite my room, was awoken by workers hammering directly outside my room less than 1m away, no segregation of works, dust and building materials in corridors, fire and security doirs wedged open and having to squeeze past workers whilst leaving room. Fire alarm was activated twice during the week meaning meaning we had to evacuate, false alarms caused by construction work. Complained twice to staff whilst on site, advised to e mail manager as he wasnt on site, have e mailed twice and submitted contact through the group contact page and no response at all. Other reviews & reports of noise from street scene and noise in the bars also accurate. AVOID if you value rest and relaxation.

Excellent stay. Checkin staff were super friendly and helpful. Rooms are small but functional for a 3 day stay. My only criticism is the shower overflowed onto the floor each time we used it. But that is more of a design issue than anything. It didnt impact us at all. Breakfast was great with a wide choice of options. Great location. Will stay again.

Don’t stay here at weekend as you’re in for a noisy night. Club music until late or early hours, even if only seven people in the bars. Rooms are decently decorated and priced, but if you’re in the rooms which have a window in bathroom into courtyard, there’s no way to block out changing lights so like a disco in your room all night so bring eye mask and ear plugs. Otherwise, great location

I had to leave at 11:30 at night because the place was so noisy from the music at the hotel. I had earplugs in and a pillow over my head and the bed was vibrating from the music. DO NOT STAY HERE ON A WEEKEND UNLESS YOU PLAN TO BE OUT ALL NIGHT PARTY. This property should not have a 4 star rating it is false advertising.

If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em.

I love this hotel as it is right by the water. It is convenient to shops, restaurants, and the Manly Ferry. We have stayed here a few times and enjoyed it. However, be advised that if you stay on a Friday or Saturday night, you will hear the music and the thumping base, and it does not stop until about 2am. It is loud enough that the toilet seat vibrates!!! Take ear plugs or join the revelry downstairs!

The Steyne is a great spot and great location. There are several things to like including location, great food and the view. The Steyne do amazing breakfasts. We were really happy with all of the service. On the downside don't get a room underneath the dance floor if you are looking to go to bed before 3am. Saturday night is a 3am finish and without earplugs you will not sleep.

The music until 4am was unbearable, a disclaimer BEFORE booking is required to allow you to make an informed choice. This is the hottest nightspot in Manly. Do not expect to be able to sleep. The rooms were stuffy and no natural light.

There was a noise issue with the room I was staying in. Staff were excellent in finding another room where it was quiet to sleep for the night and extended check out time. They were so lovely! Absolutely stunning location and blown away by the view from the room.

Ok. So. The Hotel Steyne is right on the beach at Manly. The location is its biggest drawcard. The staff are also really helpful.

The downsides are as follows:

1. Very old property. Paint peeling off walls etc. old carpet. Just generally badly kept
2. The aircon just doesn’t work. The hotel says it’s fixed at 21 degrees but I had to have all the windows open as it was just too hot. The aircon controller on the wall is just for show. It does not do anything.
3. The room smelled a bit. Probably the old carpet.

If you want an affordable stay on the beach this may be a good option. But just be ready for something the feels a bit like a backpackers.

Booked a kings sized bed only to get two single beds pushed together, they came apart during the night, complained the next day and nothing was done!...toilet seat didn't stay up to pee...thumping music for two nights running till the early hours of the morning...positives, loved the beach nearby and the closeness to everything.

We booked an ocean view, didn’t get it , shower was broken , the room smelted of smoke and the couldn’t fix it or change our room . The front staff really didn’t care or know what to do . We felted like they were happy if we just sucked it up and just deal with it.
This is the 1st time I have ever complained. Won’t b going back again

This is a very unique building across the street from the beach and has a lot of pubs and activities. I would only recommend rooms with windows, our room had 2 balconies with a great view of the water and of the pedestrian avenue.

The location of this hotel is great. The big downer, however, is the LOUDNESS and length of the thumping music. 2 out of the 3 nights I stayed there it ended at 3am. Even with earplugs it was difficult to sleep.

The guest lounge was nice to use as both my friend and my rooms were both very small and dark.

The tea making facilities in the room were a bit challenging. The coffee machine didn’t work. I was pleased to get a kettle the next day. The towels were changed often but the topping up of milk sachets, tea and coffee was somewhat remiss.

If you are planning on staying in Manly, and can snag a reasonable rate at this hotel, do it. Beautiful building with a crazy range of bars and restaurants built in. Rooftop bar is pretty spectacular, and shows off the terrific location. The room was super clean and well designed, great bathroom, great view out to the beach. The staff was quite nice, smart and prepared. On longer trips I normally stick to hostels and budget hotels, but I got a pretty good rate that was only a bit more than my normal budget. Very happy that I chose the Steyne, and would definitely look to stay there again if I return to Manly.

Late as it’s a pub but why does it still go doof doof until the morning? When the pub closes turn the bloody music off! It’s not that hard. Two days of no sleep wasn’t ideal.

You can not go past this place for position. Right on the beach amongst numerous food options.
We had room 20 which had a fun retro vibe. It is however right above the pedestrian crossing and obviously the pub. Take earplugs or ensure you are a heavy sleeper!
The shower also drains in to the the next room which holds the vanity, sinks and toilet area. Odd and annoying!
