We really enjoyed our stay at AZZ Mérida Medea. The hotel has a great location, making it very convenient for exploring the beautiful historic city of Mérida.

The room was big, comfortable, and clean, which made it perfect for relaxing after a long day of traveling. The service was also very good, and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Overall, this is a great hotel and a very pleasant place to stay when visiting Mérida. I would happily stay here again.

Staff very helpful and good. Pool ok food very low standard.. no wonder nobody comes to the buffet The bathrooms are very tired. It doesn't help that faucet is barely over the edge of bath. All the door edges are showing signs of damp. I wouldn't use this hotel again

Great value and a good location if you’re wanting a little more space outside the confines of Mérida. Situated at a shopping area, you can walk to the big supermarket, and restaurants. Hotel a tiny bit dated (old shower tub in the bathroom) and the balcony would have been nice to have chairs, but the pool was unexpectedly quite nice, especially in the heat of the afternoon.

The hotel itself is very nice in the public spaces. However the room we stayed in was tired. The bathroom looked nice, but when you were using it you could see a lot of wear and tear in the corners of the room especially around the bath. The main problem was the excessive noise coming from the neighbouring bar area, where live music was playing.

Room furniture is dated. Worst was the fact that a ton of bus tour groups seem to always congregate here. They were loud and quite rude as if they owned the place. Breakfast was a circus with them and not a fun circus. LOUD! And lines everywhere to get breakfast. Thank god they left! Would never stay in AZZ again due to bus tour crowd.

We were given a disability room I don't know why .only a sheet on the bed no extra blankets in the room .the bar in the evening had been moved outside but was not attended so we went elsewhere for our nightcap .breakfast was very limited at 9am three staff on duty but not checking food counters ,one lady even had to ask for some bread .we have stayed here many times and always given full Marks for everything but not this time it was a big letdown

Fabulous room decoration. Not the run-of-the-mill furnishings - really tasteful and in keeping with the Merida vibe and its Roman heritage! Was not that keen on being next door to several hypermarkets. Staff super friendly. Pool nice and deep so even refreshing even in the height of summer. Deck chairs are at a premium :-) Parents with children: as the pool is deep (2.5 metres in the centre) make sure your children can swim or keep a super close eye on them. The tub in my bathroom looked tired and could do with a refresh. All in all the property rating of 8.2 is quite correct - personally, I loved my stay and got good value for money. One issue are the drink vending machines on 2nd and 3rd floor. They do NOT take card payment. Please, just put a bottle of water in each room. If you want, you can even sell the water for a Euro but many guests need to take tablets and mdicine and a bottle of water is a small but appreciated gesture of hospitality.

Lovely hotel but abit far out of the centre

Quick check in/ out. Helpful staff. Room clean and spacious but fittings a little dated.
Beautiful pool. Free towels to borrow for the sun loungers. Quiet room. No fridge in room or kettle which would have been nice. Is quite a walk to the historic centre so we drove in and parked up- a good 30’mins to the Ampitheatre. Lots of restaurants next to the hotel - a mixture of posh and cheap.

Did not stay as made a mistake in booking dates. First tried to call Tryp but the phone number listed on CheapTickets was incorrect. Tried twice thinking I had dialed incorrectly. Then called CheapTickets tickets to ask to change the date. It was my mistake but I did not want to cancel just change to one night later. After talking to CheapTickets they said they could not change the date. They said they would book another room in Merida for us but we would need to pay and they could not authorize a refund. Told us we hear from CheapTickets the next day via email but we have not. Any other booking site lets you change within a short period of time. You have a bad policy

A Choice place to stay.

As always my stay here was very good but was a bit disappointed in the breakfast as the hot dishes ie: fried eggs ,bacon etc. we’re all stone cold. The warmers did not seem to be plugged in! My daughter and I always look forward to our Tryp breakfast but not this time.
Overall our stay as always was very good and we will be back again.

Good hotel for a visit to Mérida - World Heritage

A nice hotel to stay if you want to visit Mérida. You can walk into town although it will take you about 20 to 30 minutes. Driving will take less than 5 minutes. The hotel itself is a bit dated (not much) and I think a bit overpriced for what you get. Great breakfast though, with lots of choices.

We were told there is air conditioning. There was no temperature control, just on and off, and on gave hot air. We were too hot already so this was no use at all. Spent the night with door to balcony open and heavy traffic on nearby road making it quite noisy. In general the decor was a little tired although the beds were very comfortable.

Usually the checkin staff at Tryp Medea Merida are great but I am afraid that this time was not good.
Her name was Natalia and was very aloof with my daughter and I. In my original booking I made a special request for a city view premium room. On arrival I specifically requested a room as close to the lift as possible due to having walking difficulties and having to use a cane. A very detached girl gave us our room key without even a smile! The room given was the last room in the 4th floor corridor at the opposite side of my request.
My daughter on complaining was given the 1st room in the same corridor.
Why Natalia's behaviour was like this baffles me as I am a 77year old who has been to this hotel many times before and have always been treated with utmost courtesy and friendliness. Our stay was very good but our treatment at reception saddened me very much. so much so that maybe we will try another hotel next trip.

Great for Motorcycles travelling through

I was travelling on my bike up the A-66 from Gibraltar to Santander. The hotel was ideal, It was just of the road and situated on the edge of the beautiful Roman town. The decor of my room was quite dated but perfectly functional, although I could hear my neighbours TV. Parking underground was great at a small extra charge, although parking outside was free. There wasn't much in the immediate area except a few shops which was great for me to stock up for the next day.

The main town itself is about a 20-30 minute walk in a straight line from the hotel. Upon reaching the river, you encounter the Roman Bridge into the town which makes the walk worth while.

For me, a passing biker it did exactly what I needed for a very good price. Would highly recommend for anyone partaking in a similar trip.

We have stayed in numerous hotels around the world, and this one was not one of the best. The shower head could not be adjusted up and down; therefore, water was directed almost straight back, resulting in water bouncing off of the body and all over the sink and floor. The thermostat on the A/C could not be adjusted, and the room was warmer than we prefer. It was hard to get comfortable with the long, skinny pillows. Breakfast was typical, with scrambled eggs, bacon, fruit, etc. but it would have been better had it been hot instead of lukewarm. With all of the hotel options in Merida, we would look elsewhere if we ever return.

About a km from historical center of town. Hotel interior needs a renovation. Immediately around hotel there is a Carrefour and McDonalds (both new) and a shopping mall, which unfortunately is very much a dying mall. There was a simple little restaurant just across from the hotel with extremely friendly staff. However the hotel and mall have tons of undeveloped potential. Tryp is owned by the Wyndam chain. The rooms were very clean. The interior design of the rooms is dated and peculiar. However the hotel would clearly, clearly benefit from a structural renovation of the interior.

Yes the hotel may be a bit over the top décor wise and some people have said it's down right ugly but the staff are excellent and the room was very comfortable and clean. Lovely large swimming pool but could have more sun loungers and sun shades as there were not enough to go around. Apart from those little niggles the staff were marvellous and very helpful.

Traveling by motorcycle from UK to Portugal, This hotel provided a perfect stop off point \"en-route\". The location was perfect and it was adjacent to a small cinema complex with various food outlets. (We enjoyed a very good meal in the Chinese restaurant. Hotel staff were very helpful and the rooms very comfy, clean and tastefully decorated. Only complaint (and very small) is that there were no Tea / coffee facilities in the room.

Parking was not a problem since there are movie cinemas right next door where we were able to park the car. We did walk all the way to the ruins which was a good walk. Would go back to this hotel again if ever we visit Merida another time.

A Relaxing Stay in Central Spain.

We enjoyed our stay at the Tryp Hotel in Merida. The directions were explicit, and we found it easily. The hotel was very pleasant, and the room light and airy. We expected to be a little nearer the centre of Merida, and personally needed to drive there, but accept that it would have been within walking distance for the more athletic. There were however restaurants near the hotel, and the breakfast in the hotel was excellent.

Very Comfortable Merida Hotel

The Tryp Medea is not located right in old Merida but the historical section is only a pleasant walk away. It takes 10 minutes to walk down Avenida de Portugal to the ancient Puento Romano and another 10 minutes to cross this 0.8 km long Roman masterpiece over the Rio Guadiana to get right into the heart of the old town. Our room was cheerful, airy, large, quiet, comfortable, very well maintained and spotless. We had floor to ceiling windows and a glass door that opened onto a tiny balcony. All our floors were marble and the bathroom was also panelled with marble. The decor was slightly funky faux Greco-Roman but we got a kick out of it. We had a flat panel TV that even had a couple of English channels. The staff was friendly and helpful. The internet was not free; 2 euros for 60 minutes. At 15 euros each, we declined the buffet breakfast and instead had coffee and croissants across the street. We parked for free in the outside lot but, if that’s full, it costs 10 euro to park in the hotel garage.

Friendly Staff & Parking Garage at Tryp Medea

The hotel is very easy to find as you enter Merida. They have a parking garage at the hotel but there is a parking lot just on the side of the garage o the hotel grounds that I was able to use w/o paying a parking fee. There are only a few free parking slots though...about 8ish. We took a cab out to town to see the roman ruins which was really cheap. Awesome staff! So friendly. My son spilled juice on the bed sheet and the hotel staff was able to fix the situation very swiftly. Awesome service!

Appaling service at an average hotel.

I stayed at this hotel with my husband and 2 year old daughter in a family room.
Everything about it was distinctly average apart from the service which was the worst I have ever received (and I travel a lot.)
They seemed to think it appropriate to put us in a room 2 floors up from their function suite and with a window looking over the patio area where they hosted a Spanish Election party which started at 12.30am and continued until 4.30am. We did not sleep at all. The hotel was not particularly busy and the shape of it meant that we could easily have been situated totally away from the noise.
People appeared to be allowed to cruise the hotel as they wished, shouting in the corridors outside of the rooms.
When we complained to the manager he shrugged his shoulders and said that he too had slept at the hotel that night and had not had a problem with the noise. No apology at all. I am sure, judging by both his appearance and the smell of alcohol that he had, when the party had finished and I'm sure he probably didn't have trouble sleeping.
Atrocious service - I cannot believe a hotel manager can feel it appropriate to not even acknowledge a complaint let alone apologise for it.

This is a clean, friendly hotel.

It is easy to find, but is about 20 minutes walk to the main attractions. This could cause difficulties for people with disabilities. Apparently there is a bus stop about a hundred yards away, but the day I stayed there was a fiesta and no buses were running.

Recommended if you don't mind the walk
