The property and location are spectacular. If you are driving, the parking entrance is tricky. You have to get out of your car and use the buzzer at the gate. Hello - hotels.com - maybe you can warn people about that and save them the hassle of figuring that out while their bladder is bursting after a long drive.

Excellent location for viewing Mérida's outstanding Roman ruins. Lovely breakfast staff. Front desk could do a bit better on communication. They told us they were reserving breakfast for us at 11am but the was actually the time they closed. We even confirmed the time before leaving the front desk. Also they could not seem to understand I had reserved TWO rooms one for TWO people and the other for ONE person. Admittedly our Spanish isn't perfect but we do live in Spain and understand more than we can speak. Overall I'd say stay here if you have never been to a parador because it's a beautiful historic property in good proximity to the ruins and town center.

Very disappointed the pool, gardens and roof top terraces all closed. So disappointed no where to chill outside in the sun to rest your legs with a cold drink and curl up with a book.
The hotel was well positioned.
I picked this hotel because it was a mid point stop in our 3 week road trip and picked this hotel for the roof terrace and pool to find out they were closed out of season.
I’d not use Expedia again.

Lovely parador, great location, comfortable room with good view. Excellent parking, although very TIGHT spaces, challenging to use. Good restaurant, although the dinner was a bit unexciting. Congenial service in the restaurant, somewhat cool at the reception. Overall we were pleased, but it was not up to the level of other paradors where we have stayed.

A very nice place, a bit thin on breakfast (no eggs without special order). Main issue was multiple entries, which created a problem for the driver who picked us up. If you are taking a train, bus, or renting a vehicle, go for it.

The room was good overall, we approached the staff on two different occassions for help with different things, and each time it wasnt easy to get the help we needed. Also, it seems that the construction on the hotel made it very difficult tofund the entrance. Even after we were checked in, there was not easy access to the main street level.

Elegant old parador.

This is an elegant old building, showing its age a bit but charming. The maids are very helpful it you need anything. There is a nice pool. The beds are comfortable. The location is walkable from the train station, and being a small town, you can also walk to all the ruins if you like to walk. As you walk to the center, you will come across restaurants and many shops. They have extensive and convenient parking with an attendant to help.

Cons: sewer gas smell in bathroom, strong carpet deoderizer smell in hallways.
Those with mobility issues should be aware that the elevator and the reception/dining areas are almost at opposite ends of the hotel so a lot of walking is required to avoid stairs Often the fastest way between parts of the hotel involves stairs (two here, three there, a half flight elsewhere) and the stairs are often a bit higher than modern stairs.

After a long drive, we arrived at the Parador, only to be informed that they were fixing their hot water system. It was a shock to think that there would be no hot water in February,
However, fortunately, they fixed the problem.
The parador is rather sparse, much like any building built to house the priests, monks and nuns. The rooms were really true to character.
We enjoyed the experience, but only as an experience.

Fantastic location. Extremely helpful staff. Not the best English of all time but very enthusiastic in helping and Google translates pretty well these days. Good breakfast. Comfortable bed. Nice temperature. Breakfast was good but no croissants. There's a really cool courtyard which isn't really my thing but if you're into that you'll like it. Overall I would definitely stay here again and am glad I picked it.

Ok but not the best Parador

This isn't the best Parador in Spain by a country mile. The reception staff were ok but almost disinterested in having us/checking us in. It isn't in the easiest of locations but we would recommend paying for parking (expensive - 20 Euros). We don't know whether it is haunted but in the middle of the night, one of us awoke to sounds of wailing coming from inside the building somewhere! We never found out the source. Breakfast was ok'ish. It was relatively clean.

I did not realize the historical significance of the property when I booked the hotel. It sits in a very old part of the city within walking distance to many historical places. We were able to leave the car and walk to all sights. The staff was very helpful with our limited Spanish. We would definitely stay at any of the Paradors when visiting Spain.

WiFi didn’t work in our room

Upon our arrival we discovered that the WiFi didn’t work at all in our room and was spotty in other parts of the hotel. When I first mentioned this to the staff they said that their Internet had crashed and they would reset it. I spoke to them several times about it after it continued not working and it was clear that they knew their WiFi had issues. I asked to switch rooms but was told they were at capacity. Very frustrating as I have two small kids at home that I wanted to FaceTime with. Other than that, the breakfast was excellent and there was ample parking in the garage’s lower level. Spaces were pretty tight -drive with caution.

One night stay in May. Quality room, enormous bed and very quiet. Tbe Parador itself is huge and directions can be difficult. Secure parking although spaces can be x little tight. Only complaint was i sent a message tbrough the web page asking for a bottle of cava to be in the roon as it was my wife's birthday but none ever appeared. Did bot detract from stay which was otherwise up to the usual standards of tbe Parador chain.

I have stayed here before and certainly felt that standards had slipped this time. Service was very slow and staff sometimes unhelpful. Although I was there three nights, no attempt was made to repair the damaged air conditioning control I reported on the first morning.

That said, the building is impressive and the location superb for visiting the wonderful sights in this city.

Wonderfully situation hotel near the Roman sites

The Parador is one of the best that we have stayed in; very friendly and helpful staff, surrounded by history, large and comfortable rooms, beautiful gardens and area for lying in the sun or shade near the pool. It is also right in the middle of Merida so very convenient for eating, shopping and site seeing. Very good value for the level of comfort and amenities.

Merida is not a big place, so the location of this parador was perfect. You could literally walk to everything. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was pretty good. The parador is in a former monastery, so I expected it to have \"character\"; I didn't expect the sewer smell to be coming out of the pipes in the bathroom. Once I pulled the stopper on the bidet, the smell stopped permeating the bathroom and entry to bedroom. This was the only big downside regarding the room; otherwise it was spacious and comfortable. The hotel did charge (per day) for parking, which I knew about but it still was pretty pricey. I also thought that the hotel bar and restaurant was exceptionally pricey and would have appreciated it if it were a little more \"welcoming\" for hotel guests. (On the upside, we did find a couple of fairly nice, nearby restaurants.)

This B&B/inn is an oasis in a historic city, with a intimate garden for cocktails, an outdoor (unheated) pool, exercise room, a courtyard and outside dining. The room with a balcony was spacious and welcoming. Parking, outside within the compound’s walls or in their garage, costs 15 Euros. Cost was 85 Euros including breakfast.
