The check in was a breeze. Most friendly and helpful staff. Very convenient secure parking right next to the hotel.

Everything was great, except for the breakfast service and noise. The quality of hot food was poor, as was the fresh fruit and fruit juice. There were a couple tour groups who were loud and boorish. Pretty noisy night too with constant banging of doors. Not the fault of the hotel…

Hotel in Merida, Spain

We needed a hotel for three adult family members with parking for one night, conveniently located near Mérida’s old town, and Hotel Velada met our needs perfectly. Check-in was prompt and smooth, and we were able to add a last-minute breakfast option without any hassle. Extending check-out by an hour was also easy to arrange with a quick phone call.

The room, while on the smaller side, was clean and well-prepared to accommodate all our needs. The hotel’s location was a big advantage, within walking distance of a covered public swimming pool as well as the Roman amphitheater and theater. Overall, it was a great choice for our short stay in Mérida.

Nice stop on way to the UK

Stayed here for one night on the way to the UK from southern Spain. Hotel easy to locate and great covered car parking to the side of the hotel. Our room was clean, slightly small but adequate for one night stay. We had lunch at the pool bar, nice and reasonable. The hotel is conveniently located and within walking distance to the tourist attractions such as the amphitheatre, cafes and bars.

The breakfast was disappointing. The only 'hot' options was bacon and scrambled egg and these were cold. The pastries and cakes were hard. Unfortunately the coffee machine wasn't working for black coffee.

Unfortunately, the pool was closed because of COVID: The pool was my reason for choosing the hotel, so it would have been good to know this in advance.

Very big room and a huge bathroom. The place was nice but feels like it needs an update.
Breakfast for Spanish standards, I would expect much better. I would like proper coffee rather than just machine made coffee. The bread was also below expectations. There wasn't even tomate natural, it was only from a packet. The worst of all is that you are charged 8e per night for parking when it is outside the city and inside the hotel grounds. This is a joke.

Rooms need to be upgraded to accommodate the people with plugs bedside so they can have the phone there while also according for C-PAP equipment that the people might need to sleep.

Visit Merida for pleasant surprises

First impressions of this hotel and area were not wonderful but having spent two nights there it grew on us. We realised how easy to reach and park it was and then a pleasant short walk to to the amazing Roman sites within Merida. Merida is well worth a visit, though not as well known as Cordoba, Caceres or Seville. The hotel was welcoming but could do with a little upgrading in places. If returning to Merida, however, we would use the Velada again.

Hotel and staff were commendable. The only concerns were in the shower as it was poorly designed, which seems to be a European wide issue. Not to single out this hotel in particular as all hotels we experienced in the UK, Portugal and Spain this year, get rid of those Nestle coffee makers in your breakfast facilities. They make horrible coffee.

Velada hotel- unfortunately high parking changes

We stayed two nights at the Hotel Velada Merida in Spain. Mérida is a popular spot for visitors due to the presence of remarkable and well preserved Roman ruins in the city; which are all within walking distance of the hotel. Our room was clean and pleasant but the shower, which was situated in the bath, was quite difficult to get out of due to the fact that it was positioned at the rear of the bath by the slope - awkward.
We didn’t eat at the hotel so cannot comment on the food quality or service.
We did feel rather aggrieved though with the car parking charges - €8 per night which seemed rather excessive. Given the location of the hotel I really don’t see why they should charge their guests anything at all, it just felt like greed.

Hotel was good except for the opening and closing of the room doors, it can be very noisy when a guest on the same floor or one of the other floors decides to enter or exit there rooms. there is a main stair case that runs the middle of the hotel that allows the noise to carry. other than that great hotel.

Merida Overnight Hotel

We stayed at this hotel on our way back to Bilbao from the south of Spain, and found it measured up very well to our expectations. It is just outside the town center, just of the main through road. A short 10 minute walk takes you into the town center, where you can find the historic attractions, and plenty of eating/drinking/shopping areas. In the evening, there is a small square behind the hotel block with a variety of eating place. we also walked around to here the following morning for a pleasant breakfast for two, consisting of tea, coffee, and two large tostados for 3.40 Euro !
A hotel we woould be happy to stay at again if in the area.

This was our first time in Merida and was a stopover on our way to friends in Cadiz. Your directions to hotel were excellent so we arrived without problem. We would definitely stay here again if we go to Cadiz. The decor was in keeping with general ambience and romanisation style. Car parking was adjacent to hotel with plenty of shaded bays. We particularly liked the freedom available with cafeteria and restaurant. Food and service excellent. It was good to be offered local wine at the bar, also.

Hotel breakfast has few selections are basically nothing hot. Similar to those offered in motels except it costs 10 euros.

Tried to add an extra bed but the English proficiency of staff is minimal and hang up my phone twice when they heard English. I don't understand how they survive a 4-star rating.

Roman structures and modern comfort

I was very impressed with the size and comfort of my room and the overall attractiveness of the hotel. The gated parking was optional, but a good feature for someone traveling with a car or contents which they want secured. The restaurant is unexceptional, however the staff service is excellent and that makes any meal more enjoyable. The price quality ration at this hotel is very high and it is conveniently located for anyone touring this region of Spain.

The hotel was neat and clean. Room was great. Internet was fast. Better than most hotels we've stayed at. Parking was easy and reasonable compared to other hotels. A grocery store (El Arbol) was right across the street. Five to ten minute walk to the Teatro and Coliseum. Easy to get out of town as well. They had a map that gave easy directions. Loved Mérida. Very charming. And the circuito around the city is cool, but you have to be in pretty good shape to take the whole 15 km. walk. You can go on parts of it and enjoy the sights.

Nice Find

We found this to be a very nice little hotel which was ALMOST \"as advertised\". Easy to find, clean, and comfortable. The only negative: the on-site restaraunt exists...it just isn't open on Sundays. On the plus, try out the cafateria/bar for excellent service and food, albiet limited fare. Jesus is a great fellow and they make an awesome club sandwich. Ask for an extra room cardkey so you can keep the room air conditioned while you are out. Actually a very sensible technique once one gets used to the concept.

A classy but chilled hotel

We found the hotel to be very welcoming and rooms large and comfortable. The only slight gripe was that we were next to the lift which was a little noisy at times. As other reviewers have said, parking on the street was free and seemed safe enough. The hotel was well located,only a 10 minute walk from the roman remains. We ate in the hotel restaurant and the food was tasty and well presented(although the lemon/basil sorbet was liquid and came with a straw!!).

stayed one night on the way to the other destination, it was a big hotel with plenty of rooms. This is for me a typical hotel that was built in 1990 or before where targeting big group of tourists. Room was nice. The Bathroom has a bathtub. Breakfast was so so, (quality of jamón and zumo were not great, given this is the city famous for jamon.) good part was that, the staff was super nice to help me get what i needed. Convenient place and not a bad price.

Buena experiencia parecida al año anterior, por incidencias meteorológicas no hemos disfrutado casi de la piscina...hacia un viento abrasador.
En general bien ..seguramente si el cuerpo y circunstancias me lo permiten volveré.
Gracias a todos los trabajadores..(que por cierto) estaban muy saturados los camareros que atendían en hora de comer.
