Rooms do not have windows, and they claim to already have disclosed this based on the listing. (Because they say the windows are dark in the pictures)

Related to the lack of windows and sunlight is that the rooms get very dusty and dark throughout.

Walls are thin, neighbors only need to have a conversation and it can very clearly be heard, imagine having kids next door crying or children jumping above!

Water pressure was horribly weak.

WiFi is very spotty. Can’t get a decent connection throughout our stay.

Did not appreciate how their first response re:windows is by defending themselves using pictures. Definitely leaves a bad taste to what is supposed to be a trip we were looking forward to.

A really good stay - the hotel has been recently refurbished so is much nicer than some older reviews suggest. Our room attendant Rishad was super attentive and kind. Other staff in the hotel were also very helpful and welcoming. Breakfast could be improved but this was the only thing we noted.

Our Stay at AC

On the whole, our stay was pleasant and comfortable. There was a hiccup when we check in and they could not find our booking. It took some time but was sorted out.
One minus point was the drainage at the shower area. The drainage was not good and fast enough for the rain shower and it started to pond and eventually flow out of the shower area. That makes the floor very slippery and thus the chances of slipping and falling is high.

This hotel is very new, and the property is in a great condition. There is a shopping center with a grocery market across the street. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. Everyone speaks English vary well in Malaysia.

1/ hanger behind the toilet doir had lost, please put back 1,
2/ the crntralist aircond is warm even put 15C and it is very noisy
3/ the paint on the toilet door wear off, please repaint
4/ the room had not supply face towel and no reply on requst on 25.1.2020 on request til next day meeting up the cleaner only resolve the problem of toiletary supply.

Location is good. However, was very disappointed with the room amenities. Water in the long bath tub does not drain off properly, the quality of amenities given were poor quality. Bed was uncomfortable.
Breakfast food selection was mediocre. Whole breakfast experience was akin to a canteen standard.
Hotel look tired with minimal decoration and ambience is lacking. Lighting of room and surrounding was dim.
Will not be returning nor worth recommendation

I like the architecture of the building. But from the first step I enter the lobby, there is no welcome wishes, some more ask me to wait for a while even there is nobody at the counter. The receptionist never smile during attending of customers. A little bit not convenient when the swimming pool for the kids and adult being separated. No privacy shower nearby the swimming pool. Customers have to walk all the wa to the toilet that located at the end of that floor pass by the small mosque. The curtain inside the bathroom in the room also very dirty. The floor of bathroom not clean and also the cups that provide in the room looks like not wash at all. I went to dining hall for having my \"welcome tea\", very dissapointed when I have to wait for my ordered almost 40 minutes. As a big Hotel, I thing you should alert about the customers you are going to serve, because you already received the booking earlier. But still the reason is not enough staff. I heard a few customers cancelled their ordered and left the dining hall. I also wanted to cancelled but the staff mentioned our ordered already prepared. So I have to wait while my 3 kids was really starving. I will not come again with this kind of services. Pay for RM202 per night but the service just like a budget hotel. Obviously will not recommend to my friends. Thank you.

Sorry but the hotel room is too old, it seems like never been renovated. Toilet smells really bad, Old smelly shower curtain , Old towel. Maybe it was a good hotel back then. But definitely not now. Not worth for money. I do not recommend and will not return.

Good location but needing a good upgrading

We were booked for 4 people for 2 nights stay. Checked-in late and luckily there was not a queue. We were curious why front desk asked if we needed an extra bed till we stepped into the room and realised it was set up for 3 people. Thus we had to call reception to rectify the issue. Housekeeping took ages to attend to the issue and each time we asked for something we had to wait at least 20 minutes before they come by.Day 2 was the same; again made up room for 3 people with 3 bottle water, 3 towels and 3 tea cups, tea bags and coffee sticks. Didn't even top up bath soap and shampoo. This is really unacceptable as everyone should have been notified our room was for 4 people. We noticed the coffee table had hardened white sugar granules but how hard we tried to clean them was not impossible. Also the percolator had water in it that was probably from the last guest. This cannot be overlooked. We then wondered if the room floor was ever sweeped/cleaned. WiFi in room was not stable and needs occasional login. We can understand the entire hotel was going through an upgrading as it's so dated but those small room issues should not have been overlooked. At least breakfast was different on the 2-days we were there with different spread of food. But gain the service was not there as it took the chef 5-7 minutes just to make my sunny-side-up egg when there were no others there. Guess the plus point is it's location. Probably why the attractive room pricing-you get what you pay for.

Overall is OK if you are just staying overnight

The staff who work in the car park station is not very friendly. I was staying at this hotel for the first time and when I ask him about how to get the parking fees free, then he answered very impatiently.
The hotel is a bit old. Both the charging socket in the room are half 'teared out' from the wall. This is very dangerous and will run into electric shock. The wardrobe door is very hard to open. Washroom is big. Bed is a bit soft and the pillow is too soft.

The hotel started in service in 1993. Till now, it still have the vibe of 1990’s. It’s comfortable, feels like home. Just that in terms of outlook, it’s a bit on the oldish side. Will need a lot to refurnish the hotel. The towels, have some stains on it. And there are no floor towels. All other amenities are good. Hotel is very convenient to anywhere.

Good location - just opposite the shopping centre, Ipoh Parade
Good staff service - the reception helped me to book Grab while I had made another Grab booking (I have a big family).
Good rooms - gave me exactly what I wanted: adjacent rooms and extra bed and breakfast (with extra cost, of course). NOTE: not every booking site offers extra bed option, but Expedia offers that. Great!
Good deal - not very expensive
Good look - grand facade. My family was impressed before they stepped in.

Recently visited Ipoh and our family of 3 booked a family room at Syuen Hotel, hotel with more than 20 years history. We did not realize the family room has no windows, requested for a change and hotel managed to get us a deluxe room with an extra bed rather quickly. There was a very large patch of stain on the extra bed’s when it was delivered, rather unsightly - will help greatly if it was covered with another fitted sheet
Although it was a down-grade of our original booking as the size of the deluxe room is smaller, we do not mind as we felt the deluxe room to be brighter and more cheerful with the natural sunlight from the windows. Location is very good as only a short walk to Ipoh Parade where you can easily get food, groceries and do your shopping.
Staff are friendly and overall a pleasant stay.

The hotel is in a decent location where there are plenty of restaurants, a mall and close to foodstalls. Unfortunately we did not like the property itself. The hotel is extremely dated and not in great condition. The light piano music playing on the hallways and lighting make the place seem haunted, if you have a tendency to scare easy, request a room close to the elevator. The room I received wasn't very bright and I didn't feel very comfortable in it.
