The room (Villa) was so dirty, filthy and smelly that we could not stay for our planned duration.
I have never stayed in a place so filthy and run down in over 42 years of travelling NZ and the globe. I have stayed in many tramping huts, backpackers, hostels and back country lodges - but Greenacres takes the number 1 spot for pure filth and dirt. Dead flies, food/grime in cutlery draws, crumbs on tables, dirt in bathrooms, dirty plates, filth and smell in the rubbish bins, unclean carpets, lights not working. Did I mention the smell. I instructed my children to not touch anything. We all felt sick and disgusted in this place.
I shared my views and concerns with the manager on departure (an early departure, because we were not staying any longer than we had to). He claimed that they cleaned the units well. I seriously question that claim and have photos to show the dirt that was present in our unit.
I recommend that no other person/family stays here. It was a horrible experience.

The beds were very uncomfortable, shower needed a good clean, the kitchen plugs were broken and unsafe to use, the kettle inside needed a clean or a new one, the room got very cold fast without the heater on.

I had booked for 4 people, 2 adults and 2 children at $195 for the night. On arrival I was charged an extra $40 as the children's ages had not been shown on their copy of the booking. I ended up paying $235 for a unit that was showing on Wotif at that time, for $176. The unit was probably very nice in the 1970s when it was new, but is now very aged and no updating has been done. The view was great.

Had an amazing view was the only good thing about this old dated complex. Booked it due to the spa, only to find it was broken and an $8 charge per person to use which wasn’t stated on their website.
On walking on we were hit with a terrible smell and were advised the previous person had burnt something so they had burnt vinegar to remove the smell, huge fail. They could have been more proactive and not rent out that apartment until it was safe to do so

While some facilities and decor are a little old and faded, the rooms are generous, and the service was excellent. The town had electricity black out and we were offered the choice if a refund or risk a stay in minus zero over night with no heating if the electricity didn’t come back on. The owner stayed on duty to turn the heating on in our cabin (while we were away funding something to eat) and also turned on the hot tub so it was bubbling hot for a breakfast bathe.

We have stayed a couple times here before and enjoyed it. However this time we stayed in a one bedroom unit that was a lot older than the others we have stayed in. The bathroom floor was rotting, the TV did not work, the heater was old and didn't work well, and the motels street lamps shone straight in through the thin curtains. Previously it has been more comfortable to stay here but we think we'll try elsewhere for accomodation when we're in Hanmer Springs next.

60's Cottage with magnificent mountain views
The cottage was like stepping back into the 60s but it was comfortable and the area was very scenic. A good point was the spa room where for a small charge ($8 pp) we could relax and unwind in the 40 degree water. Whilst the cabin was dated, it was rather cute and the kitchen served its purpose admirably. Excellent scenic views through the window

Gentlemen at the front desk stayed back to accommodate us, gave us free milk and wifi info straight away, he was extremely friendly and helpful. We were looking to get out of Christchurch for one night and picked Hanmer on a lark. The motel turned out to be a great choice. Cloae to town, self contained neat chalets. Nothing fancy, but very spacious and comfortable. Full kitchen facilities. Can easile sleep 3.

Free milk from the hotel manager was a kind gesture upon arrival. Although slightly dated it was a nice and cosy stay with a comfortable bed. Kitchen was in good, working order. Grounds were nice.

The grounds are well maintained, however that is where the positives stop. The rooms are run down and require significant renovation or at least some maintenance undertaken. The bed was hard and uncomfortable, the was areas where the skirting and architraves had come off, the lining where coming off in the toilets and bathroom, the walls where marked and dirty and the units smelt musty. My partner and I were really looking forward to a night away from the children, but instead felt like we had gone back to our Dunedin flat. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!

Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location. Added bonus for us having our dog able to stay with us. Room very clean, everything supplied that we needed. Only negative was the pillows. Next time we come (and we will come again) we will bring our own. If you are looking for child and animal friendly and a cut above camp grounds then this is the perfect place.

Although the decor is dated the room was very clean and it was nice to have a full kitchen and lounge space. The beds were comfy with plenty of extra pillows and blankets and they also had electric blankets that we were grateful for. It's a 5-10 min easy, gentle downhill walk to town and right next to the entrance for the conical hill walk. The staff were very obliging when we discussed a later checkout time and the housekeepers we met were friendly. I would definitely go back another time.

I asked for the room on there by picture & they said that was the one i could have.
It looked light airy & nice with a ranchslider & deck off the 1 bedrm suite i booked.
when i arrived at the hotel,,,i was taken to a sm dungy room no ranchslider or deck?? dull n dingy rm. so i went to the office and they said there was only 1 other room avail...so as i booked & paid alredy we took it....when we went down to the room is had a ranchslider off the deck but was still not the room id booked ...it was also dull n dingy....also there was no couch in the lounge only 2 chairs...Unecceptable!!!!!!! not happy & feel ripped off...will recomend or go there again>>>>>>

On arrival we were told there had been a muckup and we were sent to another much smaller motel. We chose the chalets because they \"had no shared walls\" and being a light sleeper this suited me. Also a kitchen was handy. we were sent to a motel that the rooms were in a row, so we could here the people on both sides and no kitchen. we had saved hard for this weekend away, the first in four years and were incredibly dissapointed. we should have been rung and we would have booked a different weekend as we were looking forward to the chalets. We were there the night of the fire. Nobody told us what was happening no power and no communications from owner .Rotten floor beside the shower,food scraps left on an oven tray and general tiredness. Definetly not worth the money paid.

A great comfy 2 bedroom place and excellent value. Heat pump to warm the whole villa, well eqipped kitchen with greeat coffee. Just needed Earl Grey Tea, but I always carry my own supply, cuse I know not everywhere has it.

Edwin (proprietor) was at the front desk on arrival and super helpful. The unit was clean and tidy. The kitchen pans were a bit dated and grubby with loose handle on the frying pan which needed a good wash before it could be used. It would be a good place to stay in the summer but not the best in the winter. There was a gap at the bottom of the door that I needed to use a roll up towel to stem the freezing draft and only one heater that was very noisy and not very efficient. Great that they had an electric blanket that turned out to be a lifesaver. Good location and nice to have an independent unit rather than a room only.
